He seemed to take offence to this and walked away. When we finally get our Ribs, Lobster and steaks that were MEDIUM everything was cold to the touch so then I proceed to ask Ignacio to please touch my steak and he then states he knows it's cold and that they're working on new food??? So i ask, Why he would send out cold food and he had no answer totally unprofessional with a smug look the whole time. I live out of town, but decided to try this place out when I was nearby. I thought it was all a HYPE only, but it's worth it. Spent about $60 for two person, but that's worth it! Had enough left over for lunch the next day. We were told it would be about 30 minute wait, but it was only about 20 minutes wait. While we waited they had menu at the front desk and we decided to look at it. Figured out what we wanted. Sat down and when the waitress came to order our drink we ordered up front. Fast and easy. I like that. Bought the half beef ribs and The Sheriff. Totally worth it. Very tasty! Pros: unlimited salad/biscuit/bean soup. Fast service if you do what I did and order right away. My husband suggested Cattleman's last night because I was in the mood for steak. When we arrived (on a Thursday night) we were told a 40 minute wait which seemed odd as there were maybe 2 others in front of us & the restaurant didn't seem overly busy. It was actually about an 8 minute wait. I fully don't get this. If we hadn't driven a 1/2 hr to get there, I normally would've walked out if Id been quoted a wait time of 40 mins. What is that time "over-quoting" strategy that the hostess Jacky was using? I'm confused. Anyhoo, we were seated. Our server Ray was friendly and we were ready. The meals here are large with delicious salad and crusty sourdough bread, and usually so good! We declined on the cocktails & appetizers. I ordered their Thursday special, 14oz NY w/ skewer of shrimp. My hub was excited to see King Crab as an add-on and ordered a ribeye w/ the crab legs. I ordered King Crab, as well. I read another review which warned to have your server read the order back to you. I should've listened. I ended up w/ my NY, shrimp & Mac-n-Cheese. I guess its called a "kids crock" which maybe sounded like King Crab? Anyhoo, Ray offered to rush crab legs. I declined..there was enough food w/ my mushrooms on the side, salad etc. Husband didn't get crab-cracking tools or fork w/ the crab legs so we waited about 10 mins while server hunted some down. My steak was perfect. His steak was perfect. Baked potato was hard. Ask for extra sour cream up front so you aren't sitting & waiting for an additional tablespoon of moisture for your hard potato. Overall, food was OK. Crab was a bit fishy (&cold once cracker arrived so we were able to eat it) Steaks were great but when you're paying $100 for 2 people for dinner, details matter. While seeing that other options were closed due to it being New Year's Day..we decided to give Cattlemans a try...a restaurant we always pass while driving on the 99 and never have time to stop..so I called ahead to see if reservations were needed and how long a wait would be.. the receptionist said there was a 20 min wait so I asked if putting my name for a party of 2 on the waiting list was an option, and it was...unfortunately I'm assuming my gps glitched or paused while I was on the phone allowing me to think we WERE 20 min but as we got close gps said we would be 10 min late so sorry for the lateness BUT when we arrived I got a hint of attitude and odd looks from the receptionist like it affected her personally she then said it would be at least 15-20 min for a table. There were 3 larger parties of 4 -5 people waiting also...obviously there's a big number difference between them and us but made it seem like seating us was an inconvenience. We then waited until every other party was seated- not to mention that about 6 party's left while we waited..a little irritated but I'll take it seeing we were "10"min later then expected. BUT THEN- she goes to seat us And guess what?! There was a entire -ENTIRE SECTION of the restaurant where we were being seated completely empty...not to mention that out of every empty table she sat us purposely at the booth against the bus station!!! So while we were rudely greeted made to wait longer for no reason and then sat at the shit table to pay for a $150 dinner... my boyfriend had to eat with dishes being thrown and banged against his back...the waitress was semi rude from when we were seated up until the steaks came out and we informed her that this was our first visit...her face then lit up with what was partial enthusiasm for the fast the we were first timers..she then engaged a little bit more friendliness but her service was vague and limited.. I continued to stack and place used and unwanted dishes glasses and salad used dressing dishes on the edge hoping she would get the hint we were finished with them but when she did come for them she would only take half the dirty dishes and leave the rest...smh I really don't understand the value of service Cattleman's obtains in their employees but if this is it-I will never come back. AFTER all the disappointment in service and hospitality I can say that the food was really good! I like the whole salad in a bowl for everyone thing and the steak was awesome!!! I was traveling from Tracey CA to visit some friends and families in Fresno CA. We decided to have diner at this restaurant, that my friends and I wanted to try since we heard its good place to eat. My visit to the restaurant was perfect! I really enjoyed the atmosphere. We were welcome by Jess G, which took the time to answer all of our questions. She was very sweet and polite However, Jess was beyond incredible being quick with our orders and keeping up with us. Jess recommend me to try the New York Steaks since I was indecisive. The steaks came out amazing and I took another order for the road. I and my friends were completely satisfied. Cattleman's Restaurant has everything you are looking for in a classic steakhouse, from your go to cuts of filet mignon/sirloin and lots of prime rib choices all the way to what I had...the 20 oz bone in ribeye. It was simply fantastic. They source their beef from Harris Ranch so that's another plus. Their twice baked potato was absolutely phenomenal. But what really stole the show in my eyes was their baby back ribs! It was truly a fall-off-the bone masterpiece. We also got the roasted artichoke and that was impeccably done. Their ranch style beans are another amazing add to a great meal. They also have fantastic cocktails. I started with an amazing homemade Bloody Mary. They provide oversized beer steins for whatever they offer on tap and also have delicious homemade Micheladas. We brought in a bottle of wine and there corking fee was only $10. Here's what makes the night even better...their service was spot on. We had a young man named Nicholas who took care of us the entire night and really made us feel at home. Him and the rest of the staff from the hostesses up front, to the bartenders, to the chefs in the back of the house combined into a GREAT overall first experience at Cattleman's. I have discovered my new favorite restaurant in the Central Valley and will absolutely recommend to friends and family. Once again a special shout out to Nicholas for such a welcoming and attentive experience and also I want to acknowledge Michelle who was so warm and inviting to us in the bar area. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I had heard good things about the restaurant years ago, so I decided to take my mom for her birthday. This place was a HUGE let down. I cannot recommend it. In fact, I recommend you save your money and dine elsewhere. It is a shabby, overpriced restaurant that seems to be cutting corners to save money. The food is overpriced for what you get and the restaurant Is run down. It is 50 years old and it shows. My critiques: 1) The portions were shockingly small. The plates were half empty! My sister ordered shrimp scampi and she received 5 small shrimp swimming in sauce. My dad's steak look like it had been cut in half. He ordered exactly the same steak mom ordered only his was half the size. 2) The food was bland. All of it, including the beans, which they served us in a small bowl--1 portion for all four of us. 3) The coffee was cold. How do you mess that up? 4) They were out of half the deserts. 5) The service was mediocre. No water refills, no bread refills, and no care. 6) They were packing people in like sardines. We were seated 3 feet away from a group of 15 people. That is not compliant with COVID-19 rules. Not to mention that the cost was way out of line for a meal you could get at a Tahoe Joes for less. I really wanted to enjoy this iconic place. Sadly, it has become a high-priced Applebees. $190 for 4 people. I would gladly pay that and more for good food, great service and nice ambiance. This is supposedly the best in the West. I ordered the 16 oz prime rib came out looking like 8 oz it had zero flavor and the entire outside around was dry like it was sitting under a heat lamp. My new favorite steak house! The steaks are cooked to perfection and are very flavorful. I recommend you get sautéed mushrooms and grilled onions on top of your steak. It makes it even more flavorful. I also got the bacon wrapped shrimp which was also very delicious. For dessert i ordered a cheesecake. It was so rich and creamy. The waitress was also very friendly. The only thing I didn't like was that I said that we were celebrating my new job, when we made the reservations but did not receive any complimentary dessert. Maybe its just for birthdays? So a group of us came in here for dinner last night. We had reservations, and were seated very quickly. Our server was amazing the entire night! She really stayed on top of things, and made sure that we always had anything we needed. Now lets talk about the meal... The bread and butter is delicious, the salad was also fresh and tasty, the sides were very good, but the steak here was fatty and flavorless. 3 out of 4 of us agreed that the steak seems to be their one Achilles heel. That is kinda sad for a steakhouse. My husband did enjoy his lobster a lot, and said it was much better than his steak. This is my third visit to this location and aside from the amazing, hard working server, and the decent sides, there really isn't anything very special to make such a long drive for. Over the years Cattlemens kind of tapered off and slid down hill when it came to quality and service. Fortunately some time within the past couple of years they made some major improvements when it comes to wait staff and most of all, the quality of food. My girlfriend and I have dined here a few times in the past few months and it seems to get better with each visit. You no longer get the feeling that its some border brother in the kitchen throwing frozen food into a fryer, microwave, or pot of boiling water (a couple of years ago my friend's chicken breast was still frozen in the center). The service has been excellent and the food has been just as great! For the price, I don't think there's another place within a 20 mile radius that can match it. My favorite is the 2 lb porterhouse (it's in my profile pic) which comes out cooked to my order (medium rare) every time. The flavor is good, the tenderness is there, and for around $30 I feel very confident I'm getting my moneys worth. The bar is nice, great drink selection and great specials - Service has been wonderful in both the bar area as well as in the dining room. It's not a 5 star high end restaurant but it is definitely a nice, very clean, steakhouse with a pleasant atmosphere, a great variety on the menu, and just an overall great place to grab a good steak and have a few drinks. well worth the money and the drive in my opinion! read more

Some of the best service i've ever received at a restaurant. I walked in on a Monday night and it was busy. Since I was traveling on business, I just wanted a good steak, glass of wine, and some quiet space to enjoy them. My waitress came over within two minutes and took my drink order. Another girl from the bar brought a glass of wine to me. My waitress came back within a couple of minutes and took my dinner order. Brought a bowl of fresh salad and dressing. So to start my family about 15 of us drove in 45 mins...the drinks; margaritas, cowboy lemonade, lemon drop, all very tasty with a good amount of alcohol. My appetizer was Calamari and it was very salty. Tuesday special T-bone steak was unavailable, apparently they ran out which I read in other reviews too so they really need to adjust their inventory or change their special. Salad with all the toppings and options for dressings with warm sour dough bread was great, they brought out plenty for the whole group. I almost got full just on that. I ordered the ravioli which was delicious, ravioli was stuffed with cheese and had sautéed bell peppers, onions and broccoli& cauliflower in a yummy red sauce. It wasn't a long wait at all with the pager system. The atmosphere is more than iexpected, with a rustic cowboy feel, in which you can tell, that was the purpose. We went there 6/23/21 with 2 friends. Our server was new and obviously untrained. The food was a disaster. The coffee came ice cold, the tumbling onions were burnt. My friends ribs were ice cold. the baked potatoes were not fully cooked and were not even warm enough to melt the butter. I ordered the end cut prime rib, what I got was a thin cut of prime rib (not the end) that was dry and extremely overcooked. The portion was generous and it was cooked to perfection. I also got the sweet potato with honey walnut butter and it was to die for. My husband got the ribeye and said it was cooked perfectly. He ate every bite. For the table we also ordered: the spinach artichoke dip: very good and worth ordering again; shrimp cocktail: a bit fishy for shrimp and overpriced, wouldn't order again; and the sampler platter: amazing chicken strips, seasoned fries and fried onions--worth every penny for that alone--the other stuff was just a bonus. For dessert we had the cheesecake. The portion wad huge so my husband and I shared one and took the second home. The service left something to be desired. It took 20+ minutes and several reminders to get a drink refill and our server forgot the beans until he was reminded after the meal was half over. The Artichoke Cheese dip was off-the-charts tasty, and the bread and butter filled us up before the main dish even came!
