First visit and I was pleasantly surprised. Due to the number of options I decided to go with the lemon chicken bowl where the ingredients are already chosen for you and I'm so glad I did. Considering returning for dinner. The chicken was well seasoned and the veggies were crisp. The lemon vinaigrette is an added bonus. Eventually I'll work my way up to building my own bowl. I went for the first time to the homewood location and when I got out the car saw 2 employees outside smoking and talking. I thought to myself I hope they wash their hands when they get in. I went to Cava for the first time today, and the food was very good but I had an online order that was promised at 11:30 and I did not get my food until 25 minutes later. There were many other people that had been waiting for their pickup orders for the same amount of time, if not longer. The regular line was moving pretty quickly, but there was not someone working on the pickup orders for the first 10 or 15 minutes that I was there. Hopefully they will work through the growing pains and have the pick up area better staffed in the future. read more

I've eaten at different Cava locations but the Homewood location is a step above the rest! Not only is the food great, but the customer service is impeccable! Ariel and Doc were truly amazing, they answered all questions I had, and truly made me feel warm and welcomed inside of their establishment! This was my first visit to a Cava location in AL. The restaurant was out of about 70% of their menu items. The reason I decided to write a review was not for a lack of ingredients but rather the service. I purchased two bowls, a side of pita chips and hummus. I was told at checkout that it would take 5 minutes for the pita chips. I was fine with that and asked for a cup of water while I waited. The cashier gave me a dirty water cup that was sitting next to the register. She got a terrible attitude as I asked for another. I then waited for the pita chips to be finished, and the cashier just handed them to me. Keep in mind I purchased two bowls. a side of hummus and the pita chips. I'm assuming she expected me to carry all of this home. I asked for a bag and again more attitude. Thanks for the great customer service! I also went back for my receipt and saw that I was overcharged by $5.00 but decided it wasn't worth my time to argue with the cashier. HAIR IN FOOD AND PRICE GOUGING I ordered up two bowls to-go. For the first bowl: A new employee served the lamb for my bowl. According to the other worker who was micromanaging the poor new employee, the new employee accidentally served more than the 4 oz protein portion. She said that was closer to an extra serving of lamb and impolitely let the new employee hear it in front of the customers. We went to check out and I paid the amount on the screen. When offered a receipt I said why not - the micromanager at the register wasn't thrilled to hear I wanted the receipt. I reviewed the invoice to notice I was charged for an extra serving of chicken (not lamb). I asked why I was charged for the new employee's mistake and the micromanager said I was getting a great deal because she charged for extra chicken instead of extra lamb. She reassured me that I actually saved $2 from the difference of extra lamb vs. chicken. I used to work in hospitality and I would NEVER charge somebody for my mistake in the kitchen. I did not make a fuss because it was only a few dollars but it really rubbed me the wrong way. As for the second bowl... My fiancée found a thick piece of hair that was not ours in her food. She did not eat the rest of her bowl. Gross. I will avoid Cava from now on. Too many great dinner options around town to stoop to this. The mint and cucumber tea was pretty good. read more
