When it comes to setup, Cava is like the Mediterranean version of Chipotle. There's an assembly line of meats, vegetables, sides, abd sauces to choose from ass you build your own bowl, salad, or pita. My fav dish is the chicken pita and creamy feta dip. I'm also a fan of their frity teas and lemondades! A friend of mine suggested trying a kids meal and it's been the perfect portion size to cut down on over eating and it makes Cava an easy choice when I don't have time to take leftovers home. The Homewood location has a couple of tables outside so you can enjoy the weather. The inside dining area has been pretty clean outside of rush hours. Sometimes the pita chips are a bit greasy but I've just asked if they could be replaced with fresher ones and it was no problem

Flavor 10/10. Dips 10/10. went for the white sweet potato now that it's back and it was wayyyy undercooked. Massive cabbage that should have been cut up. Was cold when picked it up. Otherwise will come back, but needs some adjustment. Still give this 4/5 stars for an 11$ meal!

I was ready to give this place a glowing review. I loved the food. The portion size was great. I was really ready to make this place a staple. It was a hit. Sadly, we had a few issues, one of which was not getting our order correct - they gave us the spicy chicken, without telling us, and it was almost too much for me - and I love spice. So that should tell you something. The main issue though was that my wife and I ended up severe food poisoning. It hit us a few hours after our meal and we called the restaurant to let them know, as well as the health department. We never heard back from a manager. We may try them out again, but it's going to be a while after such a bad experience.

Alright y'all. It pains me (literally I'm in pain while I type this out) writing this review. I was sooooo looking forward to trying CAVA. I've heard so much about it from my northeastern friends and we've been talking about the location opening for weeks! And last night I got the opportunity to try it. I ordered online, but what you don't know until you visit, is that online orders are prepped in a separate assembly line from walk-in orders. Red flag: how fresh are those ingredients in the back area? I picked up our order (it was 10 minutes after the promised ready time), but I didn't care. I took our meals home to enjoy and experience CAVA together for the first time. Upon opening the bag at home, 20 mins away, I noticed that some items I requested for my order were missing. My husband also didn't get his dressing. No biggie. #growing pains The food was good and plentiful, but A few hours later, I woke up writhing in extreme pain from what I could only deduce was food poisoning. An hour later, my husband was in the same situation. No one else in our house was sick. I called the health department to report our symptoms and what we ate. The health department called me back a few hours later to check on us and to ensure they would be investigating. I called the restaurant and the manager never apologized and said she would let the manager who was over the shift last night know what happened. She was just passing the buck. No one has called us back from the restaurant. We are still sick and I would caution others from eating here until they figure out what made us so sick.

Day waS very nice and patient with me!

What can I say but good things to eat at Cava! I love eating clean(highly recommended by my doctor). When I go my daughters are with me and I have a seat while they alway select some delicious vegetables and chicken meat. I love their garlic sauce to put on top, and I especially love their drinks. My favorite drink is cucumber mint or black tea. Friendly staff and good vibes in every Cava we dined in for sure. I'm embarrassed that we wolfed our food down before taking pics.

I'm not fully vegetarian or vegan, but I really appreciate having options that feel fresh and not heavy. Every time I go, everything just tastes clean. Nothing feels overly processed or greasy, and I don't leave with that "why did I eat that" feeling. What stands out to me is how easy it is to build something without meat and still feel satisfied. They have plenty of plant-based proteins, grains, and toppings that actually have flavor. It doesn't feel like you're just eating lettuce. I also like that you can customize everything exactly how you want it. I usually order the Farm Bowl (I think that's what it's called) with almonds, apples, sweet potatoes, goat cheese, and chicken. I always get the dressing on the side and swap the goat cheese for tomatoes. The mix of sweet potatoes and apples with the crunch from the almonds is so good. And honestly? It would be just as good without the chicken, which I love because it shows you don't need meat for it to feel filling. The vibe is simple and modern, and it's a good spot for a quick lunch. Service is always splendid! Overall, it's one of my favorite healthier options because I feel energized after eating there instead of sluggish. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for something fresh and lighter.

Soup changes daily and this day was chickpea and chorizo. Nothing life changing about it but it wasn't bad. We walked into a small, dark, crowded dive bar and ordered amongst several other people after waiting in line shoulder to shoulder with other customers. I say this not to complain (because with a crowd like this on a random weekday, they're obviously doing something right) but to take your kids in car seats (‍) with caution. Crowds in small spaces stress me out and it would have been even worse if we'd had the boys with us. I'd also highly suggest going on a day when you can sit outside. There's very minimal seating inside. They do have a lovely, spacious patio that also feels like a garden with plenty of trees for shade. However, they make it clear they don't want dogs there. Parking was horrific. A narrow street with cars on each side. We barely fit through it. If there wouldn't have been an open spot on it, I'm not sure what the next option is because I didn't see anywhere else and this street only held so many. I would dine here again because the sandwiches were fresh and delicious and they obviously know what they're doing! I was pleasantly surprised that they had prosecco as well. Eating food at this restaurant is truly unlike anything available in the city of homewood and Birmingham as a whole. That being said, since this restaurant has been open I have noticed very clear and fixable issue regarding the service, which I deem to be subpar. Keep in mind that I continue to come back here because I really do feel like this food is worth coming back for. My intention with this review is to provide constructive criticism to the owner of the restaurant who may read this and may make these changes. 1.Tableware- every time I have dined I have always noticed that the house staff is never entirely prepared to service the customer, even when the restaurant has 1 or 2 tables full. By service the customer, I mean setting plates, forks, spoons and knives at the ready. I understand that mandi is a food eaten with hands but having a plate and silverware is always necessary for the American customer 2. Taking orders- many times while ordering with a big group, the hostess would take the order by memory without writing things. This would lead to moments where while in the middle of dining on one of the mains they brought out asynchronously from the rest of the order, the hostess would end up asking us if we had anything else missing. In fact while taking the check the hostess would ask us about our order, as if we were responsible for writing it down ourselves. This isn't a deal breaker for me, but if the order is written then it would save a lot of unnecessary questions and confusion about our order. 3. Missing sides with orders: the daqous or toum is routinely missed with specific orders. Not sure if this is brought out on request or part of the order inherently though. 4. Keeping tabs on order completion: this was mentioned in number 2 but it really isn't our responsibility as customers to inquire about parts of our order when we don't see them on the table and when the waitress asks us if we are missing anything it just adds a layer of confusion and loss of trust in the staff. Bottom line: The food is great, cooked to perfection, and delicious The house staff team requires real training and the issues can be fixed. Working in service is hard and it can be a very laborious job. It seems like this restaurant is family run which is great, but I really believe certain consistencies need to be implemented for this restaurant to have real, returning customers.
