Let me start this out by saying, I LOVE Cava. So this review is solely based on the experience at this particular location, not the food (because it's BOMB). Management, you are doing your location a major disservice by having these two employees in customer-facing positions. They are both WILDLY rude. I mean, "they would fit right in working at Dick's Last Resort" rude. To no fault of Cava or the employees, this location was super loud when we visited today. Which genuinely made it super hard to hear. The first lady pictured had the WORST "idgaf" attitude the moment our interaction began and made ZERO attempt to speak up AT ALL even though my husband had to ask her like 3-4 times what she was asking. She didn't make any eye contact when mumbling her questions, her body language was screaming that she hated being there, and really just made us feel like we were a bother. When we were finally done with the first lady, we had the pleasure of dealing with the second lady pictured. I cannot stress the sarcasm when I said "pleasure". For context, I told lady #1 I wanted a pita with falafel and I intended to do a "build your own". I didn't catch this at the time, but I guess lady #1 assumed I ordered a pre-selected item from the menu and put a ingredient card next to the pita. Lady #2 starts building it by putting ONE scoop of some green stuff that I hadn't said I wanted. I immediately (and very nicely and apologetically, I might add) said "Oh I'm so sorry, I wanted to build my own! I'm sorry!". This lady proceeds to blatantly roll her eyes and immediately threw the pita away. I would've been totally fine with her just scraping off whatever she scooped onto it instead of wasting it, but whatever. Clearly she couldn't be bothered. I cannot stress how unpleasant both of these women were. I completely understand how difficult customer service is. I worked on the Las Vegas Strip in two retail stores in Caesars Palace and as a Customer Care rep for a utility in Vegas. I was literally the person people press "0" to yell at. It get it more than most people. But these two women were in a piss poor mood from the get-go. They should never be in a customer facing position again. 3.5 stars. I went here for lunch and had never been before. Let me tell you, for someone who eats out a lot, I was pretty confused by this menu and the way they did things. I hopped in line when I got there and saw there were a few menu items and a build your own option. Normally when I try a place for the first time I order something off menu because I don't want my inability to pair ingredients be the reason I don't like a dish. However, when I got up to the line the person working asked what base I wanted. I told her the rice and salad mix, which she then asked me which salad and i told her I wasn't sure because I'd never been before. Then I saw that there were several different ones to choose from behind her. I chose one and then my bowl got passed. The next person asked what I wanted and I couldn't read the ingredients because they were posted in a place that you couldn't see until you were right up on it, which is fine but they were trying to get through the rush and be proactive about it so I just looked at what I could see and told them. When I got to the end I was overwhelmed and had no idea of what I chose oils be good or not. The fact that they have several options is a good thing but when you're in a lunch rush it's a bit crazy for someone who's never been. Also, I never saw any pricing anywhere and I had no idea if I was paying for any extras or if everything was included. All I know is that it was $13 for just the bowl. The bowl itself wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special either. The newer Radish is far superior in the bowl market in my opinion. Stopped here with with a couple friends on a weekend evening off of a friend's recommendation. It was pretty crowded but not too crowded to find a seat. I was initially kind of confused by how the whole thing works, but eventually figured out that it's basically like a Mediterranean Chipotle. I ordered the Greens and Grains bowl with the Grilled Meatballs, and a bunch of other toppings, and I was pretty pleased with my dish. The meatballs in particular were really well seasoned and a good protein choice. The pita crisps also added a nice crunch to my bowl, and the pickled onions a tangy tasty option. I picked arugula and saffron rice, both were fresh and generous helpings. I chose the hummus, chicken, and falafel as my proteins. I'm a veggie lover, so I had to go with almost every option, all were fresh and delicious. Then I topped it off with the lemon herb tahini and the yogurt dill. All the ingredients were super fresh and tasty, except the falafel. It was on the cold and flavorless side. I was kinda disappointed because I was so looking forward to it, but I would imagine they aren't exactly homemade and this is generally what the falafel taste like across the board aka their "style" of the dish. I was also disappointed that this location didn't have the specialty drinks as advertised online. They offered sweet/unsweet tea and lemonade, but no lemon mint water or seasonal juices. Might have just been an off day. Overall, this is a pretty cool place and I wish we had something like this closer to home. It's a healthy, quick, and decently priced bite. I then watched the young lady behind the counter incorrectly make both of my bowls while laughing to her coworker about how they were out of everything. She then asked me, "do you still want this" pointing towards the pita chips and I glared at her and said, "yes, I would like everything I paid for". ---- I got my food at 8:50 Important to note that they served us burnt lamb, and burnt sweet potatoes, burnt to the point of being hard and probably dangerous to accidentally bite. I would say this is the healthy Mediterranean version of Chipotle. Once in the "assembly line", you will move down the line and pick a 1. BASE (salad, grains, greens/grains, pita, rice), 2. DIPS AND SPREADS (roasted eggplant, hummus, tzatziki, harissa, feta cheese), 3. PROTEIN (falafel, chicken, turkey meatballs, braised lamb, roasted vegetables, roasted white sweet potato), 4. TOPPINGS (lettuce, tomato, onions, cabbage, cucumber, feta, corn, avocado, peppers), and 5. DRESSINGS (7 choices). There are a few "already made" bowls that you can choose from (and you may substitute ingredients out in those), or you can create your own bowl. Really cannot go wrong with anything you make, everything is healthy and fresh and blends together well- all calories are listed. Don't forget to ask for the (free) pita that comes with your bowl!! This is the BEST quick-food I have EVER had. Everything is SO flavorful and the options and combinations are endless. All the employees have been incredibly friendly any time I dine in, and explain any questions I have so kindly. Doing the pickups (especially now during covid) has always resulted in a fresh and accurate meal equal to what I would have received dining in. It is so much fresh, quality, delicious food for an amazing price and I could not be happier that they came to Nashville. The inside has a great vibe and feels very clean (I have never used the restrooms) and it is often crowded when there isn't a pandemic, ha, but I've always found a seat. Watch out for the water dispenser or you may get sparkling by accident! I always get a greens and grains bowl. Super greens, saffron basmati rice, hummus, crazy feta, harissa, falafel, cabbage slaw, tomato & cucumber, pickled onions, couscous, garlic dressing and lemon herb tahini. CAVA is finally in Nashville! CAVA is a national fast casual chain specializing in Mediterranean/Middle Eastern flavors. I've been to a CAVA in DC and really enjoyed it, so I was thrilled when I read that they would be opening their first location in Nashville! Think of it like a Chipotle situation. Get in line. First, choose your base: salad (multiple green options, too!), greens + grains, grain bowl, a pita, etc. Then choose up to three dips and spreads (hummus, harissa, tzatziki, feta, etc.). Then your protein (falafel, spicy lamb meatballs, chicken, roasted vegetables, etc.). Then toppings (pickled onions, cabbage slaw, Israeli salad, kalamata olives, mint, fresno peppers, feta, etc.). Lastly, your dressings (Greek vinaigrette, dill yogurt, zhug, harissa yogurt, etc.). On this visit, I did a salad with 1. eggplant + red pepper dip, 2. harissa, 3. roasted red pepper hummus, 4. spicy lamb meatballs, 5. pickled onions, 6. tomato + cucumber salad, 7. lemon wedges, 8. fresno peppers, 9. mint, 10. kalamata olives, and 11. dill yogurt dressing. Spicy, fresh, and delicious. The menu has the calories listed, so you can make this as healthy as you want. All in all, it's an extremely tasty fast casual concept! It also has some traditional Middle Eastern dishes/condiments (zhug, harissa, Israeli salad, etc.) that I think will really appeal to people who might not be as familiar with Middle Eastern food. The interior is nice - again, very reminiscent of Chipotle (poured concrete floors, high ceilings, minimalist). The downfall for me? I know it's good for business, but I really avoid Green Hills - and especially the mall. This first location of CAVA (if they do well here, I'd love to see more locations in the future) is on the north side of the mall (between the movie theater and the Cheesecake Factory). You do NOT enter the mall to go into CAVA, but you still have to park there. I think CAVA will be my pre-Trader Joe's or pre-movie lunch/dinner spot, but just given where it is, I can't see myself going there too often. But I'm so glad CAVA is here. If you like fresh, fast casual, you must put this at the top of your list! Cava is a fantastic addition to Green Hills. There are options to meet just about everyone's needs and Mediterranean desires. I had a salad bowl with supergreens, spicy lamb meatballs, and a mountains of other delicious additions. All topped off with a mouth watering garlic sauce. I am sure you could find combination suggestions for what people order, but I was so pleased with mine. Very tasty food! The ordering station is set up where you can choose your own toppings as you go down the line. I got the pita with grilled meatballs, tzatziki, cucumber and tomato mix, pickled onions, and a lemon tahini sauce. The pita was only about $9 and huge and stuffed with everything, so it's totally worth the price. The pita bread was super soft and fresh and the meatballs were perfectly cooked. My only complaint is that the sauces mixed all together can make it really "gloopy" by the time you finish it, but still a perfect place for lunch or dinner. CAVA is a great spot for healthy eats, but it seems like every time we visit we know right off what we're up against. The staff here is very rude, several of them show no care in the world to actually be at work, always seem to be "bothered or annoyed" when you ask for something, and always in a rush to get you out the door. Tonight as a team member made my bowl chicken was haphazardly thrown in along with the other things I requested to go in it, and from where she threw the chicken in the bowl some pieces landed on the floor. I then asked for extra and assured her I would pay extra for it. I have never witnessed an establishment that consistently has the same issues EVERY TIME you visit. There were employees arguing off to the side, which seems to have caught the attention of another employee to where she walked off with my food to where I had to ask another team member to bring it back over so I could add other stuff to my bowl. I highly recommend CAVA for the food, but if there is another locations that will guarantee a better experience, please go there! The Green Hills location should definitely seek out new employees who desire to happily service their customers. read more

If I could give this place -10 stars I would. I just went in there to grab a make your own bowl, asked for 1/2 honey harissa chicken and 1/2 spicy lamb meatballs. They were clearly out of meatballs but the lady that was serving me scrape the bottom of the barrel of just bare scraps, When I told her I didn't want that and I was willing to wait for when the new meatballs were made: she clearly had some sort of a reaction because her attitude was absolutely atrocious!!! I don't say this lightly she started cursing under her mask and throwing ingredients into a new bowl--like throwing utensils around. I stepped back and asked for the manager because I seriously was taken aback by perhaps the worst customer service experience of my life!! I simply had asked in a normal tone of voice if I could wait until the new batch of meatballs were made. The manager simply said he would look into and asked another person to make my order. **Update: Gave us FOOD POISONING I was on a trip from Boston. We have CAVA in Boston so I thought it would be as good as ours. This one was BAD. First, we got way less food. The bowl was just under half full. It did not even reach the mid line in the bowl. Next, we got the black lentils, and they were totally un-cooked! They were hard and crunchy! They were more like rocks and seed rather than the warm soft lentils they serve in Boston. Also, we ordered the Lamb Meatballs. Instead, they served us the spicy falafel. I understand they may look similar, but we paid extra for the lamb. In Boston, they also serve the bowls with complimentary pita bread. They do not serve this extra in Nashville. Lastly, the service was slow and not friendly. It took ages and our bowls were sitting there on the side for ages getting cold while we waited to move to the checkout. I would not recommend this place to anyone. (Unless you're in Boston!) ** Update: The uncooked lentils made us sick. We have food poisoning now. read more
