cava has always been one of my favorite restaurants! it's fresh mediterranean style food is so tasty and the flavors blend well together every time i get a bowl! i always get half brown rice and half black lentils and i add lots of yummy toppings, including the traditional hummus, red pepper hummus, and roasted eggplant dip. they have fiery broccoli, persian cucumber, cabbage slaw, and so many other options! they also have falafel grilled chicken, harissa honey chicken, braised, lamb for protein. the dressings are also mini! my go to is the hot harissa vinaigrette, but they also have yogurt dill, skug, Greek vinaigrette, lemon herb tahini and a date vinaigrette. i always get the side pita that comes with the meal. mama and i each got a bowl that was enough food for two meals each and our total was only $27 and change! the prices here are excellent! the service is top-notch and the food is spectacular and scrumptious! there is always lively music playing in the background. of course there was a line as we expected as this place has the best mediterranean food in town! the ambience is not high class at all as it's a casual dining spot with wooden tables and chairs and benches. I highly recommend you give CAVA a try if you haven't already! The employees are super friendly and kind. read more

I got a bowl with grilled chicken then you get a grain (basmati rice for me) and then toppings and other items....the only thing I can say that wasn't great was the long queue to get the food. I was so looking forward to this bowl, only to be disappointed. $16 to be salty and missing ingredients is wild! There wasn't a cucumber in sight or cabbage slaw... What happened!? I ordered ahead online, arrived a few minutes before the pickup time but I only waited a few minutes. I hope they didn't rush because I was there. They were pretty busy as it was lunch time but no excuses. Also, I thought the bowl besides missing ingredients was pretty low as well, not even filled to the top! read more

Stopped in for lunch a few weeks ago and created my own bowl-which was delicious! I arrived before noon, and noticed a huge increase in traffic starting at that 12:00 hour. I'm not sure what was happening, but the staff and dining room were a bit disheveled. They didn't look short staffed, but maybe just frazzled. I had to ask for a few items multiple times, the drink station hadn't been cleaned, and there were large boxes sitting around. Parking can be tricky due to volume but save yourself and park in the back lot of the bank! read more

After two visits (1 pita, 1grain bowl), I figured out what I wanted to put together here - a grain bowl with: 1/2 Rice 1/2 Lentils 1/2 Falafel 1/2 Meatballs Pickled Onions Cucumber & Tomato Brined Pickles Feta Tzatziki Harissa Pita Side sauces: Shkug, Yogurt Dill This made up what I'd been looking for - the right combination of tastes and textures, with the sauces and dips suppling a nice mixture of heat, cool, and flavors. The rice and lentils as the base mixed well together, increasing in flavor as the sauces and dips were mixed in. The spicy meatballs were very good, while the falafel was rather bland on its own, but again the sauces and dips helped considerably. The brined pickles and pickled red onions brought a definite sharpness to the bowl, softened somewhat by the tomato and cucumber mixture. The sauces and dips were all excellent. The pita as a side was small and much better than the large one on the wrap, and it had a nice outside crunch. And the service was particularly nice on this visit. It arrived and looked bare at first, it seemed like the toppings might have been layered on the bottom, which made it a bit tricky to enjoy as intended. Honestly, Cava is just okay for me. Loved coming here for a quick dinner after going to the gym! The food at CAVA is always so filling and nutritious and this particular one is in a convenient location on Stratford Road. Depending on the time of day the parking can be a little crowded in that shopping plaza, but cars come in and out so frequently I haven't had a problem! The indoor space itself is larger than it looks, and there is plenty of seating if you want to dine in. I usually take it to go though! The service here is always fantastic, they are quick and efficient in getting people through the line, and always have all the toppings filled and ready to go so I haven't had to wait for anything. I love CAVA! WHen it first opened in my area in Raleigh, I was there almost every day. I am a frequent visitor to Cava, and I love it so much. I used to live in Winston Salem for 3 years while I attended Community College there and there was no Cava, but I love that there is one now! I always build my own bowl, and it's always great. I did a to-go order for pickup. It was very crowded when I went in, and they were out of lids for cups, and straws, so I just took my drink without those things - no big deal, and drank it on the way home. The cucumber mint lemonade was delicious! I did order a free pita, and an extra pita with tzatziki sauce on the side. They gave me the sauce, but no pita. :( It was so crowded, it was not worth asking for a refund. Otherwise, everything tasted great. Will definitely be back whenever I am back in town. read more

I got the Spicy Greens bowl that was chock full of veggies, dips, and falafel - so yum. The bowls come with set combinations of ingredients but you can ask them to add on any additional toppings (like tomatoes, feta, cucumbers, etc) for no extra charge. Cava has a very relaxed, somewhat hip vibe to it, and their food is always high quality and consistent. It's Subway-style (choose your own ingredients) but I hate making decisions under pressure, so you can just choose from the menu overhead, and you're pretty much guaranteed to get a flavorful dish that is chef chosen. I come here all the time with friends, especially because some of them have dietary restrictions, including being gluten-free. It's great for that. If you come often, you can get the app that has its own reward system. Free healthy and tasty food! Just be aware that it gets busy at dinner time, so you could be waiting a while. If you do have the app though, you can sort of beat the system by ordering on the app and picking up your food and then sitting down. read more

They have grain bowls and you can various pita sandwiches. You can also opt to build your own. I went with Greek salad and it was great. Ingredients were high quality with tzatziki, hummus, grilled chicken, kalamata Olives and a wonderful vinaigrette that tasted so fresh. My son got the grain bowl and I tried a bite and loved it. Love this fast casual option for Greek food! They have a ton of options for you to choose from and everything is so flavorful. I went with the salad bowl (which they also have several options to choose from for this) and ended up getting half chicken half falafel which was great because my 17month old had my falafel and there was still plenty of chicken for me to eat. They have a wide variety of dips, veggies, toppings and dressings to choose from too. I absolutely LOVE their spicy feta dip and highly recommend it if you like a little kick, it tastes so good with their pita. I highly recommend checking out this spot if you love Greek food! I love to share a meal with them so Cava works for times like this. Would I choose Cava for myself, not usually. The service is just ok but every time I've gone there it seems like no one enjoys working there and they are all miserable. Not a single smile on anyone. This last visit I decided to try the sweet and spicy chicken they were promoting. I decided to make mine into a bowl with. A salad base instead of a pita wrap. I asked them to make it just how it comes but just without the pita. As they were building it, I was asked a couple times if I wanted this or that on it. I repeated that I just wanted it how it comes. I sat down with my salad and and hoped it was tasty. It was good at first. A little saucy for my preference but still good, but as I got down to the bottom of the bowl the sauces just took over and I just couldn't eat another bite of the same flavor again. The sweet and spicy chicken wasn't either of those flavors to me. It was more just seasoned with the Mediterranean flavors one comes to expect from this type of restaurant. I really want to like this place because it's a healthy option but maybe I just prefer more varied tastes and textures to my meals. I am a foodie and love trying unique and different things. So Cava is definitely one of my comfort foods. I always get a greens and grains bowl and I'm never disappointed. My go to is basically always the saffron rice with the splendid greens. I add the crazy feta, eggplant, and tzatziki. Mostly always do the harissa chicken (it's a bit spicy) but sometimes I opt for a meatball or the sweet potato. And then the toppings, buckle in, I add: corn, cucumbers, tomato/onion salad, cabbage slaw, pickled onion, and pickles and a side of the shug sauce (green sauce). I always take it to go and really have been meaning to try one of the cucumber mint lemonades or other drinks they make. The store itself is always pretty clean, sometimes they need to restock to go cutlery or silverware. Most of the staff is friendly, and the only real reason they don't get a full five stars is lack of consistency some people give you a bit more than others of the protein and toppings but that's kind of how it goes with the assembly line food places. For $10 you get a lot of food and flavor, I got mixed super salad, some saffron basmati rice, and black lentils, then added grilled chicken,tzatziki, red pepper hummus, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, hot pepper rings, yogurt dill sauce. You get a pita on the side too. My friend made up her own bowl too and said the lemon dill sauce was excellent. Every bite is full of flavor, all fresh ingredients. And all healthy. Such a great location too. Parking can be hard to find when busy. Very clean location too and super friendly staff. I will not have to be dragged back here for sure, can't wait to go back. read more

I am an enthusiastic new regular patron of this brand new franchise that has located itself in Winston-Salem, and I dig just about everything about it. While I can no doubt get down on some greasy stuff with the biggest and baddest of them all, sometimes you just gotta do right be your body you know? That is where CAVA comes in, and they come in HARD. The best part? They make it easy by ensuring that you're going to love the way your healthy bowl of goodness tastes! My first few times, I went with some of their pre-made selections and just made a couple additions, now that I know what to expect, I am flinging ingredients around like Mario in a koopa factory. My advice, start with the Harissa Avocado bowl, especially if you like a little spice. That's a can't miss combination that will be a good introduction to you on how they do things. Remember, as you go down the line, you can get any ingredients you want in the last section for no charge, avocado is already in your bowl so no worries! If that thought of all the choices makes you nervous, start on their website. Build a bowl for yourself and get it to go. This stuff travels really well and is sure to be good wherever you destination to eat may be. Or just eat it in anyway! Couple notes. They DO NOT accept cash. First time I have encountered this. Second, be prepared for paper straws, which sounds nice, except the lids on their cups are quite rigid and can easily tear into a paper straw. And funny that there is ZERO way to co tact corporate....no phone number to customer service seems to exist. Guess that makes it easy to hide. And I especially find it interesting that the store manager refused to stop using the drink machine with customers despite seeing the pic of what was dispensed from her machine.
