Peruvian fried rice & green beans side
Surelyne L.

I guess I'm used to the other Peruvian places in the area. My chicken was just ok for me. It was small for a 1/4 chicken & lacked the depth of flavor that I've come to expect for Peruvian roasted chicken. The sides were good. I enjoyed the corn salad & the fried rice. I also had their chi cha morada & it was nicely spiced. Service was fine...it is quick serve casual so there's nothing that stands out. Inside was spacious with lots of seating.

The rotisserie chicken meal is such a great deal! A whole chicken and three sides is perfect for a night you just don't have it in you to cook. You'll most likely have leftovers too! Their plantains are my favorite and the sauces are always delicious!

Great food here! I ordered a family meal with a whole chicken and 3 sides. A lot of food for under $30. For the sides I chose their fried yuca, cilantro rice, and canary beans. Everything was well seasoned and they have a variety of sauces from mild to spicy to pair with. Viva Chicken is now my favorite chicken spot!

This place has Peruvian style rotisserie chicken plates. My second time here and honestly I'm still disappointed with the flavors.. My burrito dish was not very tasty. Flavor was bland, Definitely needed some salsa to spice it up a little. Service was ok but not the greatest. I did like the music playing in the background. Not too loud but just right for a relaxing meal and discussion with Freinds and Family. The place does offer healthy dishes if you're looking for a healthy meal. Overall a good spot if you're not expecting great tasting food.

Viva Chicken Hot, fresh, flavor chicken! We attended an event hosted by Viva Chicken and got to taste several of their drinks and foods. Chicha Morada is a popular drink among the Peruvians and my favorite of the three I tried. Inca Kola tastes like bubble gum in a cup! Maracuya is similar to passion fruit juice. Limena Chopped Salad, I could eat this all day! I like their version of the chopped salad. Viva's BBQ Chicken Slider with Arrozo Chaufa, I liked everything about this meal! To end the night we had Tres Leches, one of the best I've tasted! I also tried the Inca Burrito and fries. They take a well-known dish, and make it their own with fresh flavorful ingredients! If you haven't been to Viva Chicken, you will want to make plans to visit soon. You will be glad you visited this casual trendy restaurant!

The a Great as a sandwich.

My wife and I have talked about trying Viva Chicken on several occasions but when in the area we always seem to go to one of the other two establishments in the same strip mall. Today we decided to stop in and arrived about 3pm on a Monday afternoon. Viva Chicken is what we refer to as "fast casual", customers order at the counter and are provided a number and drink cups and they bring the food out to your table. Due to us arriving between the typical lunch and dinner times, it was not very busy and we took the opportunity to ask a few questions about the menu. Neither my wife or I are familiar with Peruvian dishes and were a bit intimidated to try but the young woman at the counter was very helpful and friendly when asking questions. My wife decided on the quarter rotisserie chicken with all white meat and two sides. She chose the green beans and sweet potato fries. She noticed the plantains on the menu, which she loves and is excited to come back and try them in the future. I chose the rotisserie chicken sandwich with one side, and I chose regular fries. I also added a cup of the chicken soup. We took a seat and were impressed with the overall feel of the space, it appears clean and well taken care of and they also have a large indoor/outdoor patio space. Our food arrived a few minutes later and looked delicious. Our fries were hot and crispy and seasoned well. My wife enjoyed the rotisserie chicken and I thought the chicken sandwich was also really good. The green beans were incredibly flavorful and delicious and the chicken soup was full of fresh ingredients and comforting. We enjoyed trying both the mild and medium sauces as well. Overall, a great experience and introduction to Peruvian food, we will be back and recommend to others!

Viva Chicken will always be one of my favorite fast casual spots to grab lunch or dinner during the week and they recently released their new seasonal menu that features STEAK It's only available for a limited time so snag these new menu items while you can. Our favorites were the steak saltado + cheesesteak but you really can't go wrong! *| New Menu Items |* STEAK SALTADO Wok-seared sirloin steak with onion, tomato, cilantro, french fries, jasmine rice and flavorful brown sauce. STEAK BURRITO Sirloin steak wrapped up in a sun-dried tortilla with warm huancaina queso, canary beans, avocado, salsa criolla (lime marinated tomato and onion), and served with a side of queso. CHEESESTEAK Perfectly seared sirloin steak with caramelized peppers and onions, melted provolone cheese, and warm huancaina queso. Available on a toasted roll or in a wrap.

A look at the breast meat without the skin, good flavor here, but a dip in the hot sauce adds some punch.

The business manager (self identified) of Viva Chicken publicly attached a response to my review, and since it was public, I'll respond in the same forum, and not in the company's self-contained format. I read your response of course, and I'd expected it after my experience was less than I'd hoped for, and that is what my review said. I read a great many Yelp reviews before visiting your restaurant and noticed that often on reviews that had negative comments you or someone else in your organization would send a similarly toned, often similarly worded reply. I will let my review stand as it, I have nothing to add that would change the narrative. Your response on the surface seems genuine, but in the final analysis your organization does not respond, in a public manner, to any of the concerns that are raised by challenging reviews. Some would see this approach as an attempt to deflect the negative without addressing it, I'm of that camp.

1/4 chicken, Peruvian corn salad, plantains, mild sauce

I've had Viva Chicken from multiple locations since it's one of my favorite restaurants, but this is possibly my favorite because I've always had great service here. Pictured is my favorite order (quarter chicken, Peruvian corn salad, plantains, and mild sauce) which you absolutely cannot go wrong with. I also recently tried the passion fruit juice which is super refreshing and I'd honestly come here just for that. Ambiance isn't something I particularly am swayed by, but I love the music and vibe in all Viva Chicken locations. Give this spot a try if you haven't!

Steak Saltado
Kat K.

I've got to say that their steak menu has improved so much; yes, I know they are known more for their chicken and the peruvian sauces, but the steak saltado was almost as good as mine when I make it! and for a peruvian to say that, that's a big deal. Lol. They did take it out of their menu a while back because, well, I'm not going to lie. It was super salty, but this time, they found the formula! I like to order on Thursdays for their Brunos big chicken day, special on Thursdays where you get a whole chicken and 3 sides for $25. You can't beat that! My favorite sides are the corn salad, fries, or cilantro rice, hubby, on the other hand, loves the fried yuca or plantains! Whatever you choose, you won't be disappointed. Overall, I'm glad VIVA Chicken is stepping up their menu again! They truly are one of my to go to in the triad area.

By the time I left around 6, there were people standing and waiting to be seated. The patio was open with one couple enjoying the nice weather and relative quiet of outdoors. Embur recently relocated to Smyres Place in Greensboro and the new space feels much smaller than I expected. The design reminded me of what I imagine a modern restaurant in Peru might look like. Industrial with solid wood floors, warm finishes, and a large wine display. There are around 25 to 26 tables, mostly two tops and four tops. The largest table seats six, but they will push tables together for larger groups. While I was there, a group of more than 20 came in celebrating something and they were seated quickly without disrupting the rest of the room. The small patio has outdoor seating with about 8 tables and a they have bar area with about nine comfortable seats. The menu took me a minute to understand but I ended up liking the setup. You choose your entrée, which comes with set ingredients, and then choose your protein. Each protein has a different price, so you can control the cost of your meal somewhat. Most menu items can also be made gluten free according to the menu, and vegetarian options seem easy to do. For my appetizer, I ordered the flatbread. Perfection. Rosemary, olive oil, sea salt. Crispy outside, soft inside, and so flavorful I almost ate the whole thing before my meal was served. The server came with water right away and remain attentive but not intrusive the whole time. For my entree, I ordered the Arroz Chaufa with salmon. Arroz Chaufa literally means fried rice. At first the dish seemed a bit salty to me, but once I added the green sauce that comes with it (served on the side), everything balanced out. The green sauce has very mild heat, so if you are not a fan of spicy food, that is the one I would recommend. There is a list of sauces so I assume you can customize your entree. According to my server, the other sauces bring more heat. The salmon was excellent, well seasoned but not too much, and moist. The portion was ample. I was very hungry but I had leftovers to bring home. Service was exactly what I want when dining alone. Attentive without being intrusive. I watched Netflix while I ate and enjoyed my meal without feeling rushed or bothered. The noise level is average for a busy small restaurant. Comfortable enough to relax, but if you want to talk to someone in your group a couple of seats away, you will need your outside voice. This place feels upscale without being fussy, so expected to pay more than average, but I thought it was good value for the quality and portions. I loved this restaurant and will absolutely go back. Must order: Rosemary flatbread appetizer. Tip: Ask about sauce heat before ordering. If you do not like spicy food, start with the green sauce.

There is ample booth and table seating in a warm environment. There wasn't much artwork or colorful displays like most Latino restaurants. You can order at the counter or at your table. We were seated quickly with no wait. Waitress seemed a little short at the beginning but had a much better attitude towards the end. We started off with a tropical Maracuya drink and a Peruvian stable the Chicha Morada. Both were great the chicha was a different type of taste, not fruity or tart. I liked it, it is made from purple corn, apples, pineapple, cinnamon and star anise. My wife got a typical Colombian dish called "Bandeja Paise". This dish is very filling as it has steak, sausage, pork rind, rice, avocado, sweet plantain, arepa, and a fried egg on top! Everything on it was cooked to perfection! I got the Chicken in mushroom sauce, comes with salad, white rice and sweet plantains. This would have been a perfect dish were it not for the fact that there was hardly any mushrooms in the dish. That was my only complaint. We will definitely be back to try more dishes especially their rotisserie chicken!

It's billed as Peruvian rotisserie chicken and Mexican food, but apparently the Mexican cook wasn't there so no one could fix a taco. So we tried to order from the Peruvian menu, but they didn't have the chicken on there either. At this point, we just said give us whatever you have, which turned out to be a leg quarter, fries and small salad. The chicken was very juicy and had been rubbed with a spice mixture that had garlic, cumin, salt.pepper, garlic and onion powder i think. I would have liked to have the skin cooked more crispy, but otherwise it was pretty good and the mustard-based Peruvian hot sauce was great with it. The salad was lettuce shreds with tomato and cucumber slice with a mustard and vinegar based dressing, it was ok but hard to eat with a plastic fork. The fries were just typical frozen fries, but they were hot, crisp and pretty good when doused with their hot sauce. Also had what was supposed to be a pineapple agua fresca, but it just tasted like coconut which i detest so that got returned. The plate was $7.99 which i think is a bit high for what you get. This wasn't bad, but it wouldn't cause me to go out of the way to get it again. If i were there and hungry i would go back. It's not nearly as good as the place up the street that went out of business, so i don' think this place will last long unfortunately. The man that runs it was super nice and helpful, so I wish him well.
