I contacted Cavanaughs pest control yesterday, (we had used the in the past). I didn't know they merged with Viking but that's ok. I had to wait 5 minutes to finally speak to a REAL person, that was a bit of an issue but not my complaint. The woman who took my info transferred me to another employee. His name was Matt. After explaining the pest issue he asked me to send the pics I had of the insects that were my concern. He provided me another number and said he would look at the pics and get back to me. More than 24 hours and still nothing. Very upsetting no response. And he reviewed the phone number to call, it was correct. I'm guessing this company doesn't need the business!! read more

We have been a customer with Cavanaugh since 2005. We did the termite treatment on the perimeter of our house to prevent termites coming from our neighbor's house which had a severe termite issue. Since then, we have the annual termite inspection contract with "Cavanaugh Termite and Pest Service". Cavanaugh has been displaying its utmost professional standard since 2005 until this year (2020). Our annual termite contract expires on May 31 every year. Cavanaugh sends out the contract renewal two months prior to the expiration date. We always schedule the termite inspection on the last Saturday of May for the 8~12pm appointment immediately receiving the renewal notice. The inspection time lasts about 20 minutes. The inspector walks down to the basement and checks the house perimeter, then check out the garage and outside of the house perimeter. Once the examination is done, the inspector writes done "No termite activities found on the house" on a company's worksheet and accepts payment on the spot, then gives us back the worksheet with the payment paid-in-full receipt. Every year has been the same routine without fail until this year. A series of mistakes made by Cavanaugh's internal problems from the appointment to the final billing greatly inconvenienced us and caused us the loss of precious time solving their mistakes are one thing; Cavanaugh's staff lacking professionalism manner to resolve their own mistake is unforgivable. Here is the detail: We scheduled the inspection appointment as usual on the last Saturday of May, between 8~12PM. Due to the coronavirus, we called Cavanaugh two weeks prior to the inspection date to make sure the inspection would still be on. And then two days prior to the inspection, we called them again to make sure that the inspector who is coming will be wearing a mask and shoe covers before entering into the house, and the appointment time is also confirmed during that phone call. On the inspection day, we waited for the whole morning until 12 pm. We called Cavanaugh to find out why was no one showed up? Mr. Tiff answered the phone and apologized to us that there was no indication that we were scheduled on that date. He immediately called East Brunswick division and scheduled to send an inspector over no later than 1:45 pm. No one called nor came until 2:38 pm. The inspection lasted until 2:55 pm. Due to CoVid-19, there was no paperwork to write and show that "no termite's activities were found from inspecting interior and exterior of the premise" nor did we get a pay-in-full receipt after we gave the inspector our credit card information to input to his iPad. He said that he would send that worksheet and payment receipt to my email address. So he left without giving us any evidence of the inspection. Four days later, on June 3, we were still waiting for the worksheet with our payment receipt. I called Cavanaugh and spoke with Kristen to find out where was the email that shows our inspection worksheet and payment receipt. She immediately sent over a totally BLANK invoice (without company printed logos) with nothing on it except some strange numbers showing "termite inspection charge" $0.00, tax $6.82, payment & credit $0.00, and total due is $6.82" Not a word about the termite inspection conclusion nor our paid-in-full payment receipt. I emailed her "The receipt you sent still didn't show the correct payment amount nor did it show "No termite was found at the property" detail. Please resend a rectified version!" We went back and force with email replies and went nowhere because she kept replying to me: "The contract is now expired so I cannot state that it has been paid for." And totally ignored what I repeatedly stated in my email clearly "The current display figures in the invoice do not make sense on an invoice. I believe the right amount of dollars figures to be displayed as "termite inspection charge" $103.00, tax $6.82, payment & credit $109.82, and the total due is $0.00. Your invoice does not make any sense nor does it display that I had paid in full of the charge of $109.82." Finally, I had to pick up the phone and talk to her in person. As soon as she knew it was me, she gave out a loud, impatient "Uh" then said, "What can I help you?" I asked her to just send me a paid-in-full receipt to which she had been refused to do and did not tell me the reason in all her emails except "The contract is now expired so I cannot state that it has been paid for". I realized that she assumed we didn't pay for the $109.82 inspection fee. I said, "How could we not pay for the inspection at the end of the service?" She mumbled something like "you don't need to pay when service is done..." that statement greatly confused me, but I had to stop wasting my time to figure out what she was saying or doing in all these. I simply asked her to just send me a payment receipt and I am still waiting for my receipt with a worksheet detail on a proper company logos stationary. read more

Last year I moved into a home that had mice, bees nests, and ants. Cavanaugh provided A + service at each visit. They came quickly and did a thorough job at each visit. I purchased their Platinum service program and got my money's worth after the second visit. I will be staying with them and highly recommend that you do too. read more

I have been using them for +3 years. Due to Covid - skipped 2020. Anyways their service folks are highly professional and entertaining even. Answers every question. The big dude - Ryan is the best. Michelle on the phone and Matt for pesky stuff is amazing. Never had issues with them. Their prices one can't beat. They respond within 24 hrs if anything is found. They service 3 times / year with zero problems. I even took them up for in ground bait system - i.e. the venerable Sentricon and they gladly did the work and doing the monitoring THREE times / year. Overall for their annual platinum service and the Sentricon monitoring the price is just fantastic. read more

I've been a customer of Cavanaugh's for several years. As a homeowner, I started using them to guard my investment from the inevitable termite. I've had an annual contract with them since I purchased my home and have been very pleased with them. From time to time, I would call them for other issues I've had such as carpenter bees trying to take over my deck, moles destroying my lawn, chipmunks building an expansive home in the retaining wall that surrounds my backyard. They took care of each problem I've had over the years with the professionalism that we seldom see anymore. The technicians were knowledgeable, courteous and I felt like they treated my property as if it was their own. Three years ago, I became allergic to mosquitos. I spoke with Tim Cavanaugh at their Freehold location to inquire about spraying my property for mosquitos. I decided to add that to my annual service contract and I want to thank them for giving me and my family a mosquito free backyard so we (I) can enjoy laying out by the pool, day or night without being eaten alive. These guys deserve no star at all. They are bunch of liars who try to book you with a contract and try their level best not to honor it. I called them few times before my contract expired but they never showed up when I called them again few days after the contract expiration, someone told me that they will call me back but I received no call. I called again few days later and they told me that they will come to do the service and I should book the appointment calling the office next day. I called as instructed and this time they told me that I have to renew the contract and they cannot do the service without the contract. Their work is also not exceptional as well. You can get the same service from other companies in the area just STAY AWAY from this one. read more

COVID sucks, that said, I'd like to thank Cavanaughs and their team for fitting our home into their schedule when our previous pest control failed to keep a scheduled visit due to COVID 19. Most people don't realize how Businesses that have remained open during this time have been affected as well. Sure, they get to go to work everyday while the rest of the folks are forced to stay home. However, many are working with limited staff because some employees are out sick, or just aren't comfortable returning to work at this time. So when I called Cavanaughs in a panic over active termites, they found the time to address our concerns. Not only did they arrive as scheduled, the employees were polite and very professional. Both wore masks and shoe coverings during the entire visit. As a nurse, I know how difficult wearing any mask for an extended period of time can be, adding to that the extreme heat and humidity yesterday brought us, they never complained. They treated our home with much respect and paid close attention to detail! Let's ALL recognize the stress our state has been under, and remember that even though some of us are fortunate to be working during this pandemic, we have families and co-workers that have also been effected by this virus. I used Cavanaugh for a tick and mosquito spray service. The service was fine, gentlemen came out, sprayed and also said the spray would work on some exterior ants he saw along the foundation wall. The spray must have triggered something and they infested the wall inside with eggs within 2 days. We called and they told us it isn't their fault, we didn't order ant treatment and they could come out for an ant treatment for an additional fee. This is awful customer service, or incredibly convenient as they disturbed the ants creating a new problem. I will use a different company from now on. read more

My advice,look elsewhere or do it yourself,you will save thousands! Got charged a pretty hefty price for some guy to come out and lay 99 cent mousetraps and bait boxes. Their "diagnosis" was we had 50-60 mice in the house. Have only seen 3 dead mice and they STILL owe me a third visit that i paid for. Meanwhile i haven't got a call nor reminder or anything of this visit. Very deceitful business by them,Jim to be exact is they guy who came to diagnose ,yet he never showed up again. The guy who did come ,although a nice guy,was not prepared both times he came and had no copper wool to seal some cracks. Its very deceitful business to prey on an older man and tell him the problem is bigger than what it really is. Terrible, terrible service. I would advise against using Cavanaugh's. I signed a contract with Cavanaughs because we were hearing mice in the walls. The first technician that came out was great, he set up bait boxes and gave us helpful information. Over the course of about 2-3 months, and 7 technicians, no mice were caught yet, we kept hearing them in the walls. But that isn't what warrants a 1-star review. The problem is that I will call and make an appointment, they give me a 4 hour window, and no one shows up. I call the answering service and they take my number and assure me someone will return my call. No one ever does. This has happened twice now. On separate occasions, I have called the answering service to make an appointment and no one reaches out to me to make the appointment. I have to call during business hours to ensure I actually get an appointment, which again, sometimes the technician doesn't show up at all. Today, I had an appointment because the mouse was caught, and of course, the technician never came. I paid over $400 so I wouldn't have to do this on my own! So, don't use Cavanaugh's unless you want to spend a ridiculous amount of money just so they can waste your time. read more
