They say their barbecue is cooked on hickory wood, and the chopped pork didn't make me doubt that. I generally prefer pork to be pulled, but theirs was done well enough to make it enjoyable. It still needed some sauce to moisten it though. Fortunately they had an adequate one. Their brisket was another story. It didn't have a big smoke flavor, but the biggest issue was that it seemed to have been reheated and consequently was pretty dried out. The thin slices didn't help in that regard either. The sides were where they really shone. We supplemented the 2 meat platter we shared (which was enough for the 2 of us) with fried okra and potato salad. The potato salad was definitely homemade, and the okra might have been as well. Both were as well done as any I've had. This was definitely an enjoyable meal, though the meats left a little to be desired. To be fair, they also offer a wide selection of burgers and other items on their menu so they aren't only a barbecue place. This wouldn't be a destination visit, but if you're passing through and looking for a home style meal, you will probably be satisfied here.

Just a tiny, iconic hole in the wall that exists for one reason: to serve hot dogs that mean business. When you walk in, you already know you're not here for the décor. You're here because you're craving a hot dog and you want it done right. I ordered the Chicago dog, which showed up looking like it had zero intention of fitting politely inside its bun. This thing was juicy, oversized, and required a concerning amount of napkins. The pickles were crisp, the peppers had the right bite, the mustard was exactly what it should be. Everything hit. The only thing missing was that neon green relish that looks radioactive but somehow makes a Chicago dog official. I kind of missed it. A little. Then I got adventurous. Mistake number one. I ordered the Beef Sandwich, what I can only describe as a sloppy joe with a pickle on top. It sounded bold. It tasted... fine. Not terrible. Not memorable. Just sort of there. It's like I betrayed the hot dog gods and they let me know. My colleague went with the burger, which Tony's is apparently campaigning as "best of" material with the local news crowd. He said it was decent and a great value. High praise in burger language. Now the onion rings? Absolute perfection. Crispy, golden, and cooked exactly the way onion rings should be cooked. No notes. If I had stuck strictly to the hot dogs, this would've been an easy five-star situation. But I strayed. That's on me. Four stars. Next time, I'm staying loyal to the dogs.

The Chicago dog was excellent and, even though it was close to closing time, everything was fresh and tasty. The staff was friendly and not in a hurry to shut down while I was there. I'll be back and next time I won't wait until this late in the day. Good job
