The Red Cat in Pepper Place is the original location for The Red Cat coffee shops. it is super spacious and a great place to hang out with friends, study, or work remote. They have a large variety of coffees and also smoothies. On my last visit here, I got a Peach Smoothie.

Awesome coffee and breakfast stop. I had a breakfast bowl and Bengal latte and grabbed a few pastries to go for the next few mornings we were in town.

The Red Cat tent is my FIRST stop at Pepper Place, always. One iced coffee, splash of almond milk, please. Today, I walked here with the pup and ordered a Superfood Smoothie, which I'd never had here before. It was good... too good. I always wonder what all these places are putting into smoothies. Because I know spinach and apple doesn't taste like that when I blend it up. I'm sure it's... sugar, unfortunately. lol. Red Cat has a great vibe, very homey. You walk in and are greeted by a wall of posters for local concerts, festivals, trunk shows, and whatever else you freaks (complimentary) make posters about. Coffee is always solid and the servers are nice. I enjoy watching them chit chat behind the counter. #community #joy

I came here to grab a coffee on a Saturday morning. The line was out the door due to the farmers market happening . The service was friendly and I really love the space in general. It's been a number of years since I've been here but everything is still consistent. I love this location! Great coffee!

Red cat will forever be my favorite coffee shop. The drinks and the food have me coming back every single time. Whenever people asks about coffee shops or something cute to do around bham, red cat is the first place to come to mind. My fav since 2016.

The service was quick and the people were really nice. The atmosphere was perfect with people on their computers, with groups talking to each other and just one at a table enjoying themselves! My coffee which was a Pumpkin latte was a little bland. The after taste- taste like cream but overall a nice place.

I was in the area and stopped by here to grab coffee and breakfast. The cafe itself is so cute, everything is cat themed. The place smells so delicious and the vibes were nice, people were working and reading, etc. There's plenty of tables inside and outside. The staff members are very friendly too. I ordered the Abyssinian which is a vanilla and cinnamon latte and the breakfast bowl with bacon as my meat choice. Both things I ordered were absolutely delicious. I drank the coffee so quick it was so good. Typically when I order coffee out, I order it with less flavor/pumps bc it's typically too sweet but this coffee came perfect with the regular amount of flavor in it (no modifications)! The bowl was SO good. Everything was full of flavor, even the eggs. The portion itself was perfect and filling and jam-packed! I wish this was close to home for me so I could come back! Highly recommend this place for anyone in the area considering stopping by.

It's a really nice place to catch up with friends! They have plenty of seating both inside and outside, and the coffee is pretty good (though it can depend on who makes it). Overall, the vibe is great and makes for a nice experience.

Very impressed with this place and will definitely be visiting again soon! It's a pretty spacious area inside with lots of room for seating. Upon entering, I was slightly confused as to why it was hazy inside with a cloud of smoke in the air -- perhaps from the kitchen? I recall having read a review mentioning this about this coffee shop as well. Baristas were very friendly and helpful with answering menu questions. We ordered the iced Abyssinian latte (vanilla & cinnamon), peach, mango, strawberry, and pineapple smoothie, and a cortado. All 3 drinks were great! The Abyssinian latte was very smooth and robust with the perfect level of sweetness, the smoothie was very fresh, and the cortado was very smooth and well balanced. The food options also seemed great, looking forward to trying their sandwiches next time!

Cute coffee shop with a menu for breakfast and lunch items. We came for lunch and I ordered a ham and Swiss panini and a dragon fruit lemonade. I saw that they have flavored bellinis and mimosas which would be nice for breakfast. The service is friendly but my only complaint is that it is slow to get food. I would say if you have time to wait it is ok but maybe they have option to call in your order for pickup. They have several beverage choices for coffee, espresso and several baked good options. Cute place to come in, go on your computer or spend time talking with a friend.

Abyssinian with added shot and sugar free vanilla. Addictive!!

The coffee is 5 stars. I am a black coffe drinker. But I saw the list of those tasty lattes and thought, hmmm... after chatting with the cashier who graciously walked me through the menu, I decided on the Abyssinian with sugar free vanilla, extra cinnamon and an extra shot. It was one of the best cups of coffee I've had in years. I was shocked. It was strong, but not bitter, spiced but not sweet. Part of my four star rating was that it could have been a bit warmer. There's plenty of seating including tables and a couch and outside tables. I chose to do some work, but the wifi wasn't working, hence another reason for 4 stars. A coffee house with no wifi is just wild to me. However, I'd definitely be back!

My son took me to this coffee shop. We had mocha macchiato's and they were delicious. The upbeat music is a bit loud but pretty common. There were lots of students posted up with laptops open. The staff was friendly. They offer some food options but we only have coffee. What I loved to see is the diversity of the population in this coffee shop. The only thing I didn't really care for was all the smoke (from the kitchen, I assume) in the shop.

Thank you! Delicious coffee, gF options for breakfast in a fun atmosphere. Seating table top, high top or watching out at the people passing by or in this case, Farmers Market was going on outside this Saturday and it was so much fun! A rockabilly duo. Is there anything better? Well some things yes, but for regional Americana tastes and enjoyment this is great! Street and lot parking, made it easy to stop in and enjoy.

Trattoria Zaza - Pizza Caesar salad

This place is my type of vibe!…read more Trattoria ZaZa has been on my list of places to stop at for several years. Parking often deters me but after attending the Italian Festival earlier that day, we had a craving for pizza. I ordered the combo that includes 2 slices of the day with salad. Since I wasn't overly hungry, I offered him one of my slices and he added another slice to the order. We paid and were given a number to place on our selected table. Jazzy music played in the background while we waited on our order to be brought to the table. The natural lighting, while beautiful, made it a little warm in the building. One of the waitresses propped the door open that leads to the restrooms (which are in the hallway near the elevators) in order for cooler air to make its way in. That wasn't a deal breaker, but do be aware of that on warmer days. Our food came out after a short wait. I kept my 3 cheese slice, and gave him the pepperoni one. The cheeses were very rich and the salad, while simple without the frills, was perfectly sized and drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette that was just the right amount. While I enjoyed my meal very much and the ambiance, he wasn't overly impressed with his. He didn't want the fresh herbs on his slices and knocked all of them off, lol. He's a simple guy with simple taste. This is definitely a place I will be revisiting with one of my girlfriends and not him next time as he didn't appreciate what ZaZA had to offer. Everyone we encountered was helpful and courteous. Our food, including drinks, was around $28, which was not bad for a cute, eclectic spot downtown. If you haven't been, make sure to try them out soon. Just don't wait as long as I did to visit!

Where to start? Went on a weekend, place was packed. The…read moreBad: 1. SLOW. Waited in a line inside of 4 people in front of me. There was someone at the podium at the end who i thought was a server. Was not. After a 15 minute wait (why did it take that long?), we got to the podium person. And found out they were there to take our order, not seat us. Can only assume the 15 min delay was because people were trying to figure out what to order. No signage anywhere saying, please have what you want ready while you wait in line. 2. No menus, anywhere. Yes they can be printed and people in line could take one and figure out what they want. Yes, the menu could be put on the wall behind the server in large lettering. But no, they make you scan a QR code on the wall and view the menu on your phone, so that's inconvenient and a bit obtuse. 3. When we finally place an order for pizza, was told that, "they dont serve pizzas on the weekend, but we could order their "brunch pizzas", instead. Which on the counter, was small anemic cut slices of thick bready pizzas on the cutting board/table. Those each were $8.50 according to the menu. Figure the math of 2 small slices of pizza per person for 2 people vs just ordering a large pizza. But they don't serve pizza during brunch- Trattoria literally has the word "Pizza" in their last name- twice actually- yet you have to order a nearly $9 slice of pizza sitting out on a table for who knows how long, and of the flavor of their choice, not yours. It was flat out insulting to go to a pizza based establishment and be told they won't serve whole pizzas. We left and went to Uptown to a pizzaria there, and had a really good whole pizza, salad, dessert, and drinks, and all for half the price then if we had gone to Trattoria. Wanted to give this place a chance for years, but did not work out the way i had expected it to.

But I'm sorry the food? (In my case shrimp and grits) was NOT GOOD. And don't get me wrong, it wasn't a horrible flavor, but the flavors it did have were terrible. First the grits are not smooth at all. Like they aren't super course but they definitely could have been cooked down more. And they had little seasoning. And that's being generous. Then the "creole" sauce on top? Can we ask the audience what they consider creole? Because that was just pure tomato sauce. Like straight out a can, had to be. No way someone cooked that sauce from scratch or even with creole seasonings or typical additives I'm sorry I just refuse to believe it. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST... 5 shrimp??? You can't be serious. I could understand 5 shrimp if they're the huge jumbo ones but these are smedium at best. Like I feel BAMBOOZLED because no way I paid 24$ for 5 shrimp and maybe 1.5 cups of grits. But imma be honest I'm not surprised the food wasn't that good. Any place that puts on the bottom "we can't refund for food you don't like" that should tell you everything you need to know.
