Food first, thoughts after... I go to OHenry's almost on a weekly basis. Located conveniently near a running trail, I always make sure I reward myself with coffee after. One of my favorites to get is the cool carmello. Food wise their breakfast burrito and Conecuh sausage biscuit is delicious. As a student I've also tried to study here before. There is additional seating upstairs. The lighting is more dim on the upper deck. Surrounded by numerous and convenient parking spots, there is no excuse not to go! read more

The coffee is good. I am in town twice a year and I always stop here for coffee. I even told the barista this and she just half smiled and went on. I asked her for sugar free suggestions and she pointed me to a sign. So, the service is really not that great but I like to support local instead of huge chains. I have felt less than appreciated the last couple of visits so I may need to find a new spot the next time I'm here. Maybe they are just big in locals. I'm not sure. read more

I have not been to OHenrys in a while but decided to stop in for a nice treat. I ended up getting an iced latte, cinnamon roll and an orange cranberry muffin. All three were fantastic. The service was fantastic and I had my order in less than five minutes. It wasn't overly crowded and noisy. It was a great atmosphere. They also had a to go section where you could grab stuff if the kitchen part is closed. So that is something to keep in mind if you are going to grab lunch. They also have a menu of sandwich and soup items too. I'll have to stop back in and try those items. But overall I was please. The cinnamon roll wasn't overdone and wasn't drenched in icing. It was perfect and the muffin was fresh. The latte was also very tasty. I will be coming back again. read more

I can't believe I never been here before now! Well, unless I just don't recall. I came here on a late Sunday afternoon to grab some daylight savings time coffee! Why? Bc I was exhausted. I also needed to join a zoom meeting. This location definitely was cozy inside. The patio was nice and roomy with tables. There's also an upstairs portion l! I didn't take a pic of my cortado but it really was delicious and well made! The staff is friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be back soon! read more

The location/interior of this place is nice and would be great for working or studying. I'm a huge ohenrys lover but have never been to this location. Unfortunately my normal order here was one of the worst coffees I have ever had and I wish that were an exaggeration. I ordered a medium iced latte with half-sweet brown sugar syrup. It was watery, super weak, and way too sweet, with a burnt taste. I'm normally not picky at all but it wasn't even drinkable. I re-ordered a cold brew which was good, and the employee was very sweet and offered to remake it for free but I just purchased it in a kind of a moment of shock. Maybe just a fluke day but I probably will stick with another location read more

Cute coffee spot in Homewood shopping area, easy to get to. Lots of seating available. Service was friendly. I ordered a caramel macchiato and it was great. Hot and smooth, not overly sweet, served in a to go cup. I do prefer when coffee shops serve their drinks in mugs. I noticed they roast their own beans which is pretty cool. read more

Their coffee tastes so amazing. Brought my kid here for their birthday morning coffee. Service was great. They did sell me an item they didn't have any more of, so I had to select something else. But they were really nice about it. The booths closest to the door will not fit people of larger sizes, FYI. But they had outdoor as well as inside seating and we chose the upstairs area. Very nice atmosphere. The music was at the perfect level (not blaring). Very snug place to grab a nice coffee and chat. read more

This place smells heavenly when you walk inside. Such fantastic options on the menu for drink and food. The decor is creative and I love how they used old doors to hang on the walls. The staff is very friendly and efficient. I tried the blueberry scone and they heated it for me. So great!! Soft and flavorful with the right balance of sweetness. The Latte was tasty but the iced coffee with a pump of vanilla and cinnamon powder is the best! Super convenient location if you are staying at the Courtyard across the street. read more

The O'Henrey's Brookwood location has a lot to offer. Keeping up the same charming decor as it's sister stores, this particular location has ample indoor and patio seating. The drinks and pastries are consistently delish and they also keep a pitcher of water for guests. The staff knows their menu quite well and can help you find just the right drink. Their free wifi has a strong signal and you can tell by how many college students you'll see knocking out work throughout the building. Their upstairs space can also be reserved for things like small groups or other community related meetings. read more

Did the coffee supplier change? This use to be the best latte in town - I am sad to report the last 15/20 times I've been to the Brookwood & Homewood locations the coffee has been way worse than in the past. I know I'm being nit picky here - but seeing a shot poured from the machine over ice makes my heart hurt - maybe that why the lattes are so watered down? Idk. This rating is only reflective of the coffee. I ordered a cappuccino and received a very milky latte. I asked if they could remake with half of the milk and received another very milky latte. Probably a good place to study or hang out, but the drink quality and basic knowledge of what a cappuccino should taste like is very low. Definitely wouldn't come here for the coffee. read more

Really enjoyed my stop here before a basketball game on Samford's campus. They have plenty of coffee options brewed and bean for you to buy. I had an americano and quite possibly one of the best I've had. I also got a salted caramel pretzel brownie as a snack and it was so good. Very rich. Like very rich, but no regrets. read more

They are counting on people to order and pay whatever comes up on the register and never question the amount. This is incredibly disrespectful and not courteous to their customers. Why should we continue to do business with them if they can't be bothered to tell me how much something is going to cost beforehand? And then they want us to pay a tip on top of that!! Cute coffee shop with some character :) This is the type of coffee shop that is the epitome of all coffee shops. It has the cozy feeling, the wooden chairs, the clocks around the room, and of course, the smell of fresh coffee beans. It's got the classics like the americano and the lattes, but they also have seasonal drinks throughout the year! They also have muffins, scones, and even biscuits if you're a little hungry. The only downside of O'Henry's is that it is packed! If you want to come study here or meet up with an old friend, try to get there early. read more

I love OHenry's. It's a really cool space with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. I used to study here in college and I try to come back often because of the delicious iced vanilla coffee. On this particular visit I also had the breakfast panini. It's bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel (everything or plain) or a croissant. I had it on the everything bagel and in my opinion that's the way to go. They don't really salt the eggs so the only salt you get is from the bacon and the seasoning on the bagel. It's always a good choice and is very filling. They also have plenty of other desserts, yogurts, oatmeal, etc. OHenry's serves lunch 11-2 Monday thru Friday. read more

Finally ordered a coffee at O'Henry's despite studying here frequently, lol. I got a medium cappuccino and it was as promised: frothy, a little creamy and with the much needed shots of espresso. Their coffee is definitely on the pricier side, my order was almost $5, so I wasn't too pleased with that. Maybe I should have just gotten black coffee (next time?). But as usual, the staff are friendly and very accommodating. Today was a stormy/very rainy Sunday morning but there was already a bunch of students here studying. The coffee and lattes are actually very good. And the people working are doing their best. My 1-star review is a 100% for the owner/manager who is not scheduling enough staff for the crowd. I know it's hard to find people to work, but that can't be an excuse for incredibly SLOW service. We waited 33 minutes for a latte, tea, and regular coffee!??! That is just way too long. I love this place and it will be a regular!! I got their blueberry coffee and it's delicious!! You can taste the blueberry without it being overpowering. I also got a fruit parfait and it was perfect! A good amount of fruit, fresh and the granola was amazing! Probably the best granola I've ever had. The baristas could have been a little more outgoing but there was nothing negative about this trip. It can be a little noisy at times due to echos and just volume of people. A very good coffee joint in Birmingham in the Homewood area off of Shades Creek/Lakeshore Drive. The location is right by Brookwood Mall, so it is convenient and easy to get to. Once you walk inside, it has a very cozy atmosphere to it; they even have a loft area where you can walk upstairs to find more seating. It can get very crowded at peak times, but you can usually find a seat in a reasonable amount of time. Service is usually fast. The coffee is very good-not too strong, not too light-just the way I like it. They even serve breakfast and lunch items as well. I had the Cocecuh cheddar biscuit and it was good. Have I had better biscuits? Sure, but it still didn't disappoint and did satisfy my hunger. Overall, a great coffee place and I will continue to come back. read more

Why 5 stars? Because the variety is great for all coffee drinkers. --- --- --- As much as I enjoy the taste of sugary coffee drinks, they generally don't do a great job of waking me up. The sugar crash cancels out most of the caffeine, and then I'm just as bogged down as I was before the beverage. My wife is someone who didn't drink coffee at all before we started dating, and I've only been able to convert her to the very occasional consumer. But in order for that consumption to occur, the drink must be more milk and sugar than coffee itself. Opposites attract, right? I went with an Americano and she heavily debated between the specialty espresso drinks, before landing on the Turtle Deluxe. I tried a couple sips of it and it was delicious - she agreed. But a couple sips was about the most I could handle, due to the aforementioned heaviness of those kinds of drinks. I ordered a simple Americano and it was on point. It was too hot to even hold the cup, despite the protective sleep. So I waited about half an hour to drink it, which was perfect. I've visited another O'Henry's location and am sure I'll visit others on future trips to BHam. read more

This is a really nice location for meeting people or getting some work done. Everybody loves the loft area and I really like the eclectic nature of the different seating options upstairs and down. Today I had the Conecha Cheddar Biscuit and a cup of Kenya AA. The biscuit was really good, but of course anything is when you put that delicious Alabama made sausage in it! I thought the cup of coffee was above average. I have had some really good batch brewed cups of coffee and I think I give this one a 4/5. There is a pretty good selection of pastries and the cookies are so delicious. The wifi is free, the people watching is great, the coffee is good, and you can get a wide variety of food items. The past couple of times I have been to O'Henry's the coffee has not been up to par. My cappuccino tastes like it has burnt shots in it and has way to much milk. When I ordered a syrup flavor to go in it, I did not taste it at all. I used to love to go here for coffee on the weekends, but now I think twice before choosing to come here. read more

What used to be a Sunday staple for us will never be again. Got in line at 10:05am. Placed order at 10:29am. Received two iced coffees and a turtle latte at 11:04am. 59 minutes from line to receiving coffees. The turtle latte should have simply been called a hazelnut supreme. That's all that you could taste. We also ordered two muffins, which weren't fresh when we received them shortly after ordering, but even worse by the time we received our coffee nearly 40 min later. This is the 2nd consecutive awful experience at this location. Last time I was at least able to get it fixed at the sister location by the Colonnade. This time, the line was too long to even consider getting the latte fixed or requesting fresh muffins. Still, the greater issue is the staffing. I feel bad for the staff that showed up to work, but ownership should take ownership and figure something out. $30 for a $3 experience isn't cutting it. read more

Out of the three O'Henry's around Birmingham, this one is definitely the biggest one with a loft area and plenty of seats. However, it was super packed when I came in on a Monday afternoon to study. Luckily, I was able to snag a seat as some people were leaving. It seems like a good number of people there are studying, so it might be hard to find a seat on the weekdays. The WiFi wasn't working when I came in, so just ask them to reset the router. read more

I am a huge O'Henry's Fan! As a local Realtor, I am often in need of a place to pop in and grab a quick coffee date with a client or grab a table to sit and knock out a few tasks before getting back on the road. O'Henry's has been my go to for years now. The cozy atmosphere and quick and friendly service make for a good, productive time. The coffee and muffins are great! Try one of their seasonal blends (hot or iced) and you might be surprised at how good it is. The outdoor and upstairs seating options are also a plus. read more

This is a very average place to go for coffee. I usually just get their oatmeal or a pastry, which can be hit or miss. I simply stopped getting coffee here because it tastes like burnt plastic. I rarely go to ohenrys because there are so many better specialty coffee shops in Birmingham. But i am a student in town and people often choose ohenrys as a place to meet for various projects and things. However, I would never recommend these shops to anyone who is a coffee person. read more
