Had camarones enchilados with two sides tostones and salad. There were 7 médium size shrimp. The side of tostones was only one even though menu said tostones which means more than one and it was small. Salad was not big either. No bread with meal. Having only one toston may save a few cents to the restaurant but missed the opportunity of having a new customer return. Food was not sufficient. I will not return. read more

You know I have a love and ugh... type of relationship with this restaurant. It's not hate, but more like why? they do lots of things right but they also do several things that make you scratch your head. Let me start off by saying the staff is always very attentive and hospitable. I've eaten here several times and service is never the issue. The bathrooms are hideous, I mean down right dirty and in desperate need of a makeover. Green and black water stains on the faucets and toilets and just dirty. I feel like I need to go in there with a pressure cleaner and just hose down the place. Let's talk about the food. This Location does two things very well fry seafood and grill seafood. They have an assortment of several different species of fish and shellfish. The fried conch fritters along with cod fritters are amazing and tasty. The perfect amount of meat and batter in a few little bites, Great appetizer. I also like their grilled octopus, they make it Spaniard style with a little bit of spice and potatoes. They make really good fried grouper, snapper, King fish, Mahi and other delicacies when in season. However, I believe the restaurant suffers from a lack of personnel. The food at times comes cold. It's not the chef or the waitresses because I see them and they're hustling going from table to table it's just a matter of time they don't have. When the food comes out hot it's pretty great. But at times it just sits there because the waitresses and servers are attending to other customers. I believe, management needs to have an extra pair of hands and improve the quality of service which will lead to more profit, not mitigate hours to save on labor and increase profit. read more

My father has been telling me to try this place out and I finally gave in. The only thing that had stopped me before was the location and overall exterior look of the joint because is right next to some warehouses and it's not very aesthetically pleasing from the outside. Now as far as the food, some was great, some was not. We started with the conch fritters and lobster empanada. Conch fritters: these were tasty but had a lot of bones and hard pieces of conch that made it hard to chew on so I didn't like that at all and I've had better elsewhere. Lobster empanada: the filling was ok, yes you can kinda taste lobster but not really, very pasty consistency. The crust was soggy and greasy and it'd fall apart with every bite so not a fan on this one either. Now for the main dish I was pleasantly surprised...snapper filet in a creamy lemon sauce topped with calamari, side of yellow rice and tostones(fried green plantains). The filet was fresh and perfectly cooked and that lemon sauce is to die for. The calamari was a bit chewy, almost like a rubbery consistency but I didn't care because of how good the snapper was. Yellow rice was tasty but tostones were very greasy and tasted like the frozen ones, honestly I think they're definitely frozen and not freshly cut which is a shame . My father ordered a whole almost 2lb fried snapper and it was also a hit although it was a bit pricey for $30. This thing was super beefy with great taste and freshness. So the two main dishes were evidently delicious and that's about it. Service is excellent, no complaints there and food came out fast. Ambiance is super casual and chill with a low noise level. I would've given it four stars if the apps had been good but perhaps maybe next time I'll try something else. There's plenty of parking across the street. read more

Visited this location to satisfy my craving for a whole fried hog snapper after my disappoint at the Bird Rd location and I'm so glad I did! The fish was perfectly cooked. Crispy edges and tender, juicy white flesh. A little pricey ($38) but I enjoyed it and since it was both lunch and dinner for me, I figured not that bad. It also comes out with two sides and I chose yellow rice and tostones. I could not finish it all! My brother had ordered the tostones rellenos and they were quite good, filled with shrimp in a creole sauce. I tried to redeem the Yelp check-in offer for a free glass of wine or beer but they did not honor it. The waitress took my phone to ask the manager, but the manager did not know how to do it. I asked twice to get my phone back and I finally had to get up and get me phone myself. Why put the offer if they don't know how to honor it? Oh well, my meal was good regardless. read more

Stay away from the old man with white hair and black glasses near the cash register by the raw seafood. So rude, so grumpy. If I felt well enough, I would have thrown the raw oysters in his face. After he made me wait 10 minutes to be attended and then told me to hurry up cause he was busy. Since I need the magnesium, I'll sit here and wait after being treated like a piece of dirt. Honestly I wasn't too excited when I first found this place located in a shopping center with a bunch of warehouses, and businesses surrounding the area with barely any parking available. The restaurant is tucked away in a corner across a canal and somewhat hidden. Once you step inside you're greeted by the pleasant, humble employees that work here. The employees provide great service to customers and on top of that they're pretty quick with bringing apps/entrees out too! As for food... The seafood here is fresh so you know it's going to be good! I usually go with any sandwich they offer here... I haven't found one that I wasn't happy with yet! Also the prices for the sandwiches are so worth it! Super affordable prices for a good portion of hot and fresh food! Also the bread that comes with it is so warm and soft it's the perfect compliment to the dolphin sandwich! Here's the deal breaker... it is considered a restaurant but I wouldn't recommend bringing a large group of friends or a family to eat here. It can get really busy around early lunch and evenings so expect a wait when ordering food. If you do come and sit down as a party of 2-3 you'll be in good shape, and food usually tends to come out pretty quick! As we drove up, my daughter said, thank God you have eaten before because it looks like a fish restaurant and market in a warehouse. My response was, it is. I actually had been to the location on Bird Road which is an actual restaurant. We walked in and it was cute enough, laid back dive atmosphere with wood benches and marine murals on the walls. The service was sub par. Our server behaved as she was doing us a favor by standing there waiting for our order. Fast forward to the food being brought to the table, it was not all brought together and the dishes brought at the end were room Temperature and not hot. Honestly, room temperature white rice? One of my sons ordered fish tacos, the only thing that was good was the fish. The tomatoes were slimy, the tortillas were stale and the cilantro was wilted. My other son ordered a churrasco that was over cooked. The French fries on my mom's "Tronchos de Pescado" we're saturated in cooking oil and somewhat soft and soggy. On to the positives; surprisingly the pulpo a la gallego was beyond excellent, the texture was perfect and so was the flavor. My daughter had a shrimp and pasta that she said was good but had too much sauce. Our "Tostones rellenos" appetizer was ok, the sauce was a bit strong. The Cuban coffee got a 5 and so did the super chilled mug I got with my beer!Lets move on to getting the bill. I felt it was a bit high so I reviewed it, as is the "new normal" the tip was included, however it said "servicio" I concluded that it must be the tip so I asked whom I believe is either the head waiter or the GM. He said it's "servicio" and I said "yes, but is servicio the tip?" To which he rudely responded "servicio!" Honestly, he had been pleasant and checked on us various times, but his reaction was on one that was appalled by the question. I asked because it wasn't 15% or 18% or 20%, it was 17% so I wanted to be sure. It was not posted anywhere in the restaurant or on the menu. So I give him my card and he rings up the amount, including tip on the pay at the table device and on the screen it shows the full amount that already had the tip on it and asks what percent tip to add. Incredible, had I not noticed, since I wasn't informed, I would have Paige the tip twice. He didn't even give me the option of tipping at 15% instead of 17%. I paid it, and honestly, even when service is subpar, I give 18% because everyone is entitled to a bad day and people have to make a living, just don't force me into it! read more

Where do I start? This is a hole in the wall cafe in Hialeah Gardens. There is not much of an ambience save for murals and some nautical decor. We were immediately greeted and seated by Pupo. A little more on him later. Our waitress came to the table and as we began to order our appetizers I showed her the check-in offer of one free beer or wine. Here's what I take issue with. I'm completely okay with an offer no longer being valid, but it's all in the delivery. She was dismissive about the offer. Ironically, I visited a restaurant yesterday were the check-in offer was also in question but the waitress checked with her GM and he chose to honor the offer. Bottom line is that she could have apologized and said it was not longer valid and we would have been okay because she at least made an effort. The food. The mariquitas were nothing special and the Mojo that accompanied it was atrocious! No joke this is one of the nastiest things I've ever tasted. Luckily the warm bread and spiced butter was another story. I say skip the mariquitas and enjoy the complimentary bread and butter. The conch fritters were mostly cornmeal and were a bit too chewy. We all decided on the snapper (pargo) sandwich which includes an order of French fries. The sandwich was presented beautifully and most importantly was delicious. The fish was cooked to order and was perfect! The toasted bread was a nice touch but the fries needed a bit more time to cook. The one downside here was our waitress. She wasn't horrible but she was indifferent about everything. She couldn't really answer any of our questions and didn't bother to check with anyone who could possibly answer them. This is always a make or break for me when deciding if I want to return to a restaurant. Now Pupo! This guy is a gem! His service was seamless and efficient. He was refilling your water glass before you had a chance to even notice it needed to be refilled. He had tables ready for customers before they walked through the door! I actually had to find the manager to let him know that Pupo was top notch. He is the reason I am giving this restaurant four stars instead of three. Muchas gracias Pupo! read more

I just realized I can't handle the squid rings, I had 2 and choked on both omg I was about to freak out. The service wasn't how it was months ago. I tip depending on how the service was which was a small tip that I left, coming home I see they take it upon themselves to add the tip to the bill depending how much you spend. $38 for almost non existing service andthe server couldn't remember who chose what. My virgin trip to this establishment and it was wonderful. I'm so full I can't think straight. I had the shrimp ceviche to start my adventure and is was really good. They serve small rolls with a garlic butter spread. the bread was soft and warm. For lunch I had the grilled seafood ( shrimp, calamari, mussels, scallops topped with a lobster tail) yellow rice and salad. The salad was really good with the various veggies they had in it.
