We rented a home (Got It All) on Smith Mountain Lake through CB Sales & Rentals, June 13-20, 2026. The communication with them prior to arriving to the house was perfect! The house was a great fit for our family however it was literally crawling with bugs (roaches, centipedes, millipedes, silverfish)! I called the office and left a message when no one answered. I NEVER heard back from them! It was so bad in my youngest adult son's bedroom downstairs that he couldn't even sleep in the room. He ended up sleeping on the downstairs couch all week. My husband called them towards the end of the week and it took 8 tries before anyone even answered the phone. The house was one of the most expensive we have ever rented on SML. CB Sales & Rentals were the agency that managed my rental home. My home is a luxury home and renting it out was a necessity due to upkeep. I don't know where to begin except to say it's been several years and I am still repairing things after a major disaster, renting to a family that ignored the contract. I felt I had no support from CB Rental. First red flag was an appliance that needed replacing which was replaced within 48 hrs. That didn't seem suitable to the agent and I was told, " you pick one out or I will." Yes, the renter had a loss from the appliance not working , but they didn't get renter's insurance, as suggested . The renter could have been seen as being distinguished and privileged, and a good prospect as a renter, however they showed no respect for my home. Animals ( pets) were slipped into my home and caused a lot destruction. I asked the renter to leave and unfortunately many household things seemed to have gone with them.. I practically begged the agent to do a repeat walk through of my home after it was vacated, they refused. They also refused to share any pictures they had taken during the renters exit period. that clearly showed damaged. Many items were destroyed. I asked the agent to hold the deposit, that didn't happen. I got a check for less than 50.00. In summing up my review, this experience was one of the most difficult I ever faced. I regret ever meeting the agency owner. I will never understand the 5 star reviews that I've seen posted in their site. read more

Tranquility Cove could be cute.. however their was dirty underwear, half eaten chocolate, old used gaterade bottles, bugs, and super nasty mattress covers with other people hair and possible mud?? I don't want to know... sadly I did try to rectify this with the company with no help.. my family had to find a different place to stay... would not recommend this company for any services if they can't even take care of a rental... read more

I rented long term with this group, very unprofessional and not trustworthy at all. I have dealt with several other local businesses for rentals and didn't encounter nothing like this. They never respond to issues reported to them, but will hold it against you when you leave by keeping your deposit. Myself and home owner left because of this. read more

Love!!! Iv been booking through this company multiple times a year! Great staff, Jessica ROCKS! Professional but down to earth and easy to talk to. They work with any accommodations and have so many properties they can fit your needs. We stay between three houses depending on time of year and how many guests. We rented a house on smith mountain lake Virginia from cb rentals. The pictures that were taken of the interior and exterior of the house had to have been taken 15 years ago. The carpets were all stained with what appeared to be urine from animals. The pots and pans were rusty chipped and unusable. There was not enough silverware for the 14 people that this house was supposed to hold. The ceiling fan in both master bedrooms wobbled so badly that we were afraid they were going to fall off the ceiling. The Wi-Fi did not work at all, probably because it is an extender that is shared between two other houses. The couch in the den was broken and there is no way this was not known by CB rentals. The futon was also broken. There was mold in the garage on the ceiling that housed the pool table and also the basement bathroom as well as many bugs. The pool table had two pool sticks that were usable, and no chalk. We talked with the neighbors next door who also were renting from cb rentals and they had similar complaints. Our thoughts on this rental agency is they obviously do not care about upkeep of their houses and we will not rent from them again. read more

Great customer service, great rental. We stayed on the lake, it was like something out of a movie. Incredible week in an incredible house. I have rented from companies all over the country, beach houses, mountain cabins, house boats, airplanes. If you can rent it I have done it. I have seen my share of rental companies. This group did a great job to make us feel welcome, the property was impressive, and the lake is a lot of fun. We will rent again! Smith Mountain Lake might have to be a yearly event for us! read more

Desk was friendly but house was kept poorly. My bed was on cinder blocks!!!! No paddle boat as in description and was never given follow up after informing CB rentals. No t.v. In master bath as described. CB rentals brought out a t.v. 5 days later but didn't have a cable box to hook it to!! Coffee pot broke, took CB rentals 5 days to bring us a new one. We had to take our trash away and had difficulty finding a dump. Downstairs smelled musty. Yard was poorly kept. Couldn't reach rental company until Monday. read more

Found this agency to be quite unresponsive to concerns of the renter. Not a pleasant surprise to find many bugs, mice and hornets inside. They did send someone to clean a second time but still left behind countless bugs. TV's not as described and walkway to house unsafe with unsecured landscaping. Buyers (3) with realtor, chimney inspector and termite exterminators all showed up unannounced during the week we rented and needed inside access to the house. Uncertain why they couldn't warn us about any of these issues and ignored most communication from us. read more

The house was not worth the money. First, when we arrived at close to 5pm we found that the house was still being cleaned and we coud not get in. Once we finally were able to get in the house we found that to get to the laundry room you have to cross through the downstairs bedroom. The laundry room is in a very raw, unfinished area of the house. There is another room that is unfinished and nasty. Both rooms flooded when it rained. The downstairs smelled very musty. The pool table is kept in the unfinished garage off the unfinished room. The deck is not in the greatest of shape and most of the furniture was broken and dirty. Half of the lights in the house did not work, there are broken windows and the yard was unkept and not mowed. To get to the front door is quite dangerous in itself with its curved walk way of large slate stones that are broken and uneven. The house sits on an incline so it's a downhill walk to get to the house or to the lake and an uphill climb to get back. I would never recommend this house for the elderly or to anyone really. We also had family rent the house next door and found it was in the same condition. read more

My stay was amazing. The staff was super helpful in giving our family a great stay. The beds were so clean and the house was in a perfect location to some of the local attractions. I was really impressed with the view from our rental home it was so peaceful. My family had a great stay and we will definitely be using CB as our rental company. read more
