I originally reached out to Ada and a few other businesses in June to get my 'pre-wedding' (aka small, unofficial family-only ceremony) dress altered for September; it needed to be properly fitted, hemmed, and at the last minute I wanted to see if pockets could be added. Ada got back to me within a few days where some others never did and her prices were by far the best; she quoted me at a little more than $200 when the boutique I got the dress at estimated ~$800 and another business quoted me ~$500. The timeline for alterations was also significantly better which I later realized was because this is a small business where she can spend dedicated time working on the project. In total, from first fitting to final fitting, it was just a week as everything was perfect and fortunately I didn't need any later fittings as my size didn't change over the following months before the ceremony (I did try the dress back on at multiple points just in case). Overall she made the process comfortable and easy which was so nice because I was definitely an anxious bride. I hope to be able to go to her again in the future for general alterations and possibly again for my big, official wedding next year once I find that second dress! Thank you so much Ada! From the moment I dropped it off, the woman assisting me was rude, rushed, and visibly annoyed. What stood out most was how quickly her attitude shifted when two customers who were not people of color walked in. The difference in treatment was hard to ignore. Despite my discomfort, I still left my romper for what should have been a simple sewing repair. We even safety pinned the exact area needing alteration, and I provided my full name and phone number. Three weeks later, I returned to pick it up only to be told that my information and alteration request were never saved. I was confused by this information since I watched her "entering my details" while present. The only reason he was even able to locate my garment was because I found my ticket and provided the ticket number myself. The seamstress/owner then stated they had no record of what needed to be done, and no one ever contacted me during the entire three weeks they had my garment. The employee who originally helped me claimed she "didn't know" what the request was, despite pinning the exact area herself and my asking her to have the seamstress call me with the estimated price. The entire situation was unprofessional, dismissive, and honestly upsetting. Based on the rude treatment, lack of accountability, and complete disregard for my time and belongings, I genuinely left feeling that prejudice played a role in how I was treated. To make matters worse, the person assisting me at pickup showed no concern whatsoever when I expressed my frustration. I will not be returning and would not recommend supporting this business.

I had a horrible experience with alterations at King's Cleaners. I had a very expensive designer…read moredress that needed to be taken in under the arms. The dress was constructed with two seams running down the side of the dress. Rather than take in each seam, King's Cleaners created a new seam that only ran about 8 inches down the side and ended in a big pucker. The dress was unwearable. I returned to complain and was told it would be fixed and to pick it up on Tuesday. I returned on Tuesday and was told the dress wasn't ready because the alterations person "was on vacation." I was leaving town the next day for a wedding to which I had planned to wear the dress. I DO NOT RECOMMEND KING'S CLEANERS FOR ALTERATIONS.

I have been back 5 times and I just get the run-around. A month ago I dropped 3 pants of, I was returned 2 that were mine, and a larger/different color one. I stated - this large grey one is not mine. I gave my name and phone number, I've been back 5 times. What have I been told by the same female employ, you the reader pick which one you find most unacceptable: 1) well we can fix the wrong one to fit you (so, um, wonder about the original owner of those pants?) 2) leave me your other two pants and we will look for the missing one (the only thing the missing pants have in common with my other two is they are black, not same brand 3) when I went to get my two pants back, they were reluctantly returned to me 4) one week I'm told, come back on Thursday, the owner can decide what to do. I come on a Thursday the owner is not there 5) I come back the following week, "I have to tell the owner about your missing pants." (so owner hasn't been told) 6) I asked - why don't you launder my next order of pants for free as compensation - I got silence, no reply. 7) I asked - how do you guys handle this? Silence, no answer.
