On my visit, CCA had some awesome turned wood pieces and hand-thrown vases with built-in flower frogs - to use for Ikebana, ideally - that I really enjoyed. We saw some paintings we liked also, including a few that had a primitive flavor to them, but mostly, we eyeballed the turned wood. The staff member working at the gallery explained to us that the inventory of art rotates about every two months and that artists take turns running the shop. I think this is a great concept - one I wish I could make work for my own field....still thinking on that one a bit. Overall, I found the prices very reasonable as well. I'm no expert, but for the items I would consider buying, I did not experience the same sort of sticker shock I often do at many juried art shows.

The CCA Gallery calls itself Indiana's only co-cop gallery, with 30 resident artists who share the display space. While some of these artists are ameateurs, most of them have a really great sense of style. My favorites include Todd Phillips, whose acrylic on glass creations give them an infused, ethereal quality; Beth Forst, whose paintings of natural landscapes conjure a worthy nod to Monet; and Susan Downs, whose interpretations of roosters and other saucy birds evoke more attitude than any I've seen.

The very best place to buy handmade art from Indiana artists and meet the artist on duty.

I usually shop at the store on Mass Ave, but I was in Carmel, so decided to check it out. The clerks were busy stocking shelves for Christmas when we entered, but welcomed us with big smiles. The shop seems a bit smaller that their other location, but still carries most of the same merchandise. They are known for their silver jewelry by various artists. Currently, they are featuring charm necklaces. An Indiana theme runs throughout the store with everything from Indiana necklaces to Indiana kitchen towels. It's a great place to pick up a gift with candles, art and even some local foods. I even saw a few toys and puzzles today for the kids. I was looking for a funny card and they have a small selection of cards but they were somewhat inappropriate to give a daughter. But they do have lots of crazy socks. There is street parking or parking behind the building.

Well, it may take a few weeks for all kinds of reasons like ordering materials, the artist has a backlog... etc? If you want 'quick' you should go to a commercial, boring, big box jeweler. Ok, mini rant over. Let's talk about Mark and the work he has done for me and my husband. My husband wanted to have a custom engagement ring made for me. He had a design in mind and a recommendation from a family member to see Mark. Mark gave great advice on sizing, diamond quality and integrity of the band design. He even showed my husband the difference between Russian and Israeli cut diamonds (um, huge difference). Without Mark's advice I would have gotten a ring from somewhere else that needs adjusting all the time (I had a lot of single prong stuff in mind for the band, bad idea) . Mark can also order directly from a manufacturer, which is what we did for our wedding bands. It's cheaper than custom and, like another reviewer said, the prices are clearly stated in the manufacturer's ordering book at market prices. In the end the design I wanted had already been made - so why have it done at a custom price? I appreciated Mark's honesty and transparency on that decision. Lastly, Mark and his wife are kind and fair people. No pressuring you into something you don't want or can't afford. We had a great buying experience for all three purchases so far.

Didn't feel pressured or any unpleasant sales-y atmosphere, and Paula was great too. Fiancée is also very pleased with the outcome! As mentioned in some of the other reviews, allow some extra time for variability in ordering things and other suppliers.
