Highly recommend Barrington Jewels if you are looking to customize a piece for yourself. The staff is friendly and able to make recommendations on how to best make the item work. I took in a pair of ear cuffs from Hearts on Fire. They were individual cuffs that could be easily taken on/off (they didn't have an ear post). I loved them but I'd almost lost them at least twice when wearing them so I was looking for a way to turn them into a more permanent ear decoration. Barrington helped me get the two cuffs sauntered together and added a post so I'd be able to wear them without fear of losing them! I loved the finished product. The price was reasonable as well! I stopped in on my wedding Anniversary to see if I could get my wedding ring cleaned and polished. I was immediately greeted and helped. I was initially told that I'd have to wait 1-2 days for my ring to be finished, but since it was my anniversary, the staff checked with the jeweler to see if there was enough time to squeeze my ring in. The jeweler agreed and my ring was cleaned, tightened, and polished within 30 minutes. My ring looks brand new! The price was also reasonable. read more

We bought my wedding set from Goel and Mitra when we got engaged in 2014. We loved the intimate, low pressure atmosphere, and knowing my wedding set was crafted in house and one-of-a-kind was huge. Goel asked what cuts of stones were of interest and had ovals loose in multiple sizes. After we married we had talked about having a matching band for my wedding ring to close in the other side. Today I picked it up and I couldn't be happier! Over the years, they've been so generous in cleaning, checking, and maintaining my jewelry. When one of the small diamonds fell out of a band, they replaced it at no charge because I kept up with having them check and maintain. When I needed an appraisal a few months ago, they offered to tread them with rhodium at no cost to keep them looking their best. You just don't find a family-owned small business that truly values their customers and provides a level of service like what you'll find at Barrington. So happy not to have to go to the mall for watch battery replacement. My husband had two dead watches because I was avoiding the mall area. Took less than 10 min to replace two batteries and they have a year warranty. Friendly service and staff have on masks. Sign on front door says customers must wear a mask and they will provide one. read more

I was shopping for a special engagement ring, and many jewelers showed me the same things. At Barrington the owner, Goel, recognized my needs for something unusual, so he showed me his custom work. Incredible! The ring I selected for my future wife included a place for a center diamond, a row of baguettes on either side of the center stone, then small round diamonds on the sides so no matter what angle the ring is viewed from, there's a lot of sparkle. Goel and I talked about diamonds, and he helped me select a wonderful 1-1/2 carat oval diamond that's nearly clear. A friend used to own jewelry stores in Chicago and taught me a lot about diamonds, and Goel was honest with me so I trusted him to make a special ring. She was not expecting the ring when I gave it to her. We were in jeans, enjoying wine in small wine bar, and talking about what marriage might look like. Then I set the box on the bar. When I opened the box she couldn't talk. It was an intense emotional moment, and the response I was hoping for. I waited until after my fiancé had her ring for a month before writing this review because I wanted to hear from her girlfriends about what they thought. I wanted to express my thanks to Goel for his work that's causing shock and awe, but my fiancé is humble and says she feels guilty wearing it - that's what I wanted. It took Barrington more than a month to make the ring from rose gold and it was not a cheap venture, but the "wow factor" is definitely a factor in me writing this five-star review. read more

these people are dishonest.do not trust them. they failed to send appraisal info (as promised) to my insurance company for rider on very expensive tanzanite & diamond pendant. this resulted in loss of insurance claim reimbursement. Mitra had an i don't care attitude when I informed her of their negligence. Barrington constructed a huge diamond pendant for us and we purchased $10k engagement ring from them. still they were unwilling to do anything to rectify my loss. read more

My Husband purchased my engagement ring in 2005 from the owner, Mitra. She helped him custom design a ring that I absolutey love. In 2012 I took some medication that made my hand swell. Long story short, I had to get the ring cut off my finger. We went back to Barrington Jewels and once again, Mitra helped us. Not only did she have the head jeweler stop what he was doing at the time to help me, but it took 45 minutes to cut the ring off my finger. (my ring has 3 solid bands). The entire time Mitra was so kind and promised me that my ring would be good as new. They wouldn't take any money from us for cutting it off & they promised to have the ring fixed in a week. When I went to pick up the ring, the bill was with it. But I was told that my insurance would cover it. So I walked out with my new bigger sized ring and no money out of my pocket. This entire situation was so upsetting, but Mitra made it all better. I would recommend Barrington Jewels to anyone. They go above and beyond for their customers. read more

If I could rate this place any lower, I would. Never have I been treated as poorly as I was treated here, and by the owner of all people. I went in with a piece of jewelry that had been purchased there (I had the receipt in hand) to discuss my options. The owner looked at the receipt, turned the ring over in his hand a few times, and offered me $250. My husband and I were shocked and asked why only $250 when he was selling the exact same ring for $3000. The owner told us he wasn't selling the ring for that amount, tossed my receipt back at me, and told me he wasn't interested anymore. That was confusing since I had asked for my options, not simply asked what he would buy my ring back for. My husband then more forcefully requested the owner look at the price of the ring which was in jewelry case directly in front of him. He did and of course, the price listed was $3000. The owner said nothing so we left. I am still baffled at the owner's treatment of us, the way he basically called us liars, and then dismissed us when we tried to ask a valid question.
