First, I grew up on Community Coffee so that's not the issue. The problem is that the store at 7960 Jefferson Highway doesn't know the difference between a latte or a cappuccino or a flat white, versus simply dumping milk into espresso/coffee. I've given them too many chances to get it right, and I'm done with them. They don't seem to care. Especially in the drive thru. If you're ok with someone pretty much dumping a café au lait into a cup, versus a crafted, layered drink, then you'll be just fine. Otherwise, skip these amateurs. The staff is always super friendly and helpful, the indoor and outdoor surfaces are super clean, and they even offer you extras or tastes of pastries. I can park myself at a table and no one gets annoyed that it may take me a half hour to have a cup of coffee while working on projects. I love going on rainy Saturday mornings and just people watch the regulars and the little groups of retirees who gather there. One of my go-to's. read more

Wow, I've written 100 of these already? I eat out way more than I thought I did... CC's is a good one for #100. I travel all over the place and it is very rare that I come across a small local coffee shop that beats out, or at least matches, the greatness of Starbucks. CC's, in my experience, is the only one that does. Community Coffee is better than Starbucks brew, the pastries are fresh and delicious (chocoloate croissant is AWESOME), and the shops are always modern and well designed. This location in Baton Rouge is our go-to place for breakfast when we are in the city several times a year for college football. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and they go that extra step to create a warm and welcoming environment. I usually order iced decaf mocha latte but sometimes they didn't put enough mocha in my drink, but when I asked for more mocha they were very willing to do that. They are very deaf friendly. Tbh, I'm normally a Starbucks kinda girl but a few of my friends finally convinced me to give CC's a try. I must admit, I'm pleasantly surprised. I was little hesitant but Jay, the barista, quickly calmed my fears and led me through their menu. She suggested I try the turtle latte. I'm normally not a big fan of sweet lattes but she assured me I'd love it so I took her word for it. I substituted coconut milk and no whip. Meh. CC's was definitely anywhere close to the coolest, best, or most relaxing coffee shop I've been to in my travels, but it also wasn't the worst. It was so plain, that although it has been less than a month since I've been there, I barely remember it. The pluses: I was able to hang out there for around an hour and a half and not get the feeling that I was overstaying my welcome. I had a very long drive ahead of me and wanted to lounge and read before taking off; this was accomplished. The dude behind the counter was pretty friendly, which is a rarity in a coffee shop. The coffee and food were cheap and if I remember correctly I got a free same of something. The minuses: The coffee wasn't that good, it was equal to the stuff that came with the motel room I had rented the night before. The egg on the sandwich I got was prepared in a microwave- I really wish places that did this had a warning. The parking was absolutely horrible, it the five minutes it took me to park (yup, five freaking minutes) I saw 4 near accidents. The parking lot is the size of thimble, with the line for the drive-through going right through it. Parking a smart car would be hard, parking my Econoline van was almost impossible. This is a standard CC's and the service is very good. I've been here a few times and have had a consistent experience. Be warned if you're there in the afternoon as you will be pleasantly assaulted by blueberry muffins being baked! Good God, it smelled wonderful and beats the Mulberry scented Yankee candle any day. It's a meatlocker, so bring a sweater or Snuggie, because you will freeze if you there for more than ten minutes. read more

I've always loved CCs, but I just recently moved across town & haven't been to this location. I live in an apartment complex close to it so I've been there a few times now. The first time I went, I wasn't sure what to get because it had been a while since I went to CCs instead of Starbucks. The cashier Danielle was awesome! She answered the few of questions I had & recommended a drink I forgot they had that I loved back in the day. She was very bubbly & kept a very positive attitude even though I could see they were heading in to a rush of people because it was morning time. Ever since she's continued to make me feel at home when I stop by this location & has taken the time to say hey to me even if she's not the one directly assisting me that day. Thank you so much! Honestly I had Starbucks a couple days after because it was the closest coffee shop to my work & it didn't taste as good lol. Getting in and out of this CC's can be a bit of a pain because of traffic on Jefferson Hwy, but it's worth it. This location is always clean and has friendly and quick staff who are great at giving drink recommendations if you are unsure about what to order. Did someone say Turtle Mochasippi? Well to be perfectly honest I do not frequent CC's as much as I may frequent other coffee houses but nonetheless CC's is way popular for their turtle frappe. I usually don't write bad reviews because it just seems mean... BUT came here last month when I was visiting family in BR. I know that my opinion is a little skewed because I am a visitor and where I am from, cafes are held to a different standard. So I guess my review is for tourists and not locals: Maybe this is the best cafe in Lousiana, like some have said, and maybe this is the best CC's location, as others have said. But if that is the case, the bar is pretty low. First of all, slow service and the cashier didn't seem to know how to ring stuff up. Which is not a big deal as he was probably new. But the guy making the drinks had a pile of whipped cream on a cup lid and kept licking off of it while he made the drinks, which was a slow motion process. Me and my son waited there for a long time and it appeared he probably somehow forgot to make my drink or wasn't told by the cashier to make it. So it took a good 10 minutes longer than everyone else in my party. Certainly a situation where a little customer service skills can go a long way--you know, noticing the same person is lurking there for a long time, making eye contact with a smile, asking "which drink is yours again", etc. But, he kept eating his whipped creme, eyeing me suspiciously from time to time. When I did get my drink, it was really the worst chai latte I have ever had. I didn't know they could be so lame. Just like a tea with milk in it. And the boxed veggie plate my son had had some really old carrots in it. To be fair, I wouldn't expect to find decent gumbo or etouffee in Seattle so, you know, it's all good. Next time in BR when my family wants to meet up at a coffee place, I'll suggest a bar or seafood restaurant instead. If this is the best place around, might as well stay away from all of the cafes. read more

Greg and Mya made my day today with their friendly and vivacious customer service. I came in to get hazelnut croissants for the family, which I do every Sunday. When I placed my order they happened to be out of them, but Greg offered to put some in the oven for me while I waited. (Wait what? That's never happened in all the years I've been buying them.) They let me know that they would deliver my croissants to my car. I had my dog in the passenger seat and they gave him a bone. With a few more laughs and smiles I drove away. I decided to write this review because these people actually looked like they were enjoying their job and made me feel special to be a customer when there are many places to buy coffee and croissants in this town. I'm sure I'm speaking for many who can relate, but I want great customer service with a smile, a genuine effort to go the extra mile, and it's really hard to come by these days. read more

I never ever write reviews. I have trouble being critical and tend to have a light touch and am admittedly too quick to forgive and accept less than perfect service and products. (something I'm working on, I know). But I'm visiting Baton Rouge for work and found what I thought was a great coffee house here on Jefferson Hwy. But while I was sitting here on a sunday afternoon, working at my laptop for 4 hours, one of the employees here, by the name of Nick - a heavy set kid with a curly beard continuously sneezed big wet sneezes the entire time. He never went to the restroom, and not once did he use a tissue on his leaky nose. He blocked his sneezes with his hands, then wiped his hands on his apron and pants, then touched coffee cups, muffins, handles... Like I said, I can forgive just about anything, and it takes a lot for me to be disgusted. But this guy was spreading his filth everywhere he went, wiping his wet nose on his fingers then touching people's food and cups. And the worst part is that his manager, Whitney, did nothing about it. Never told him to wipe his nose, cover his sneezes, or better yet, go home until his face wasn't leaking like a faucet. I'll have to find a new place to plant myself and write while I'm here in Baton Rouge, because this place is not only disgusting, but dangerous to your health. read more

This is probably the best CC's location. There is plenty of seating and space to get some work done over the free wifi. The baked goodies are always hot and fresh. Try the Magnolia Berry Tea, you'll enjoy it! read more

Decent coffee, but the staff desperately needs to learn a few key phrases: "Hello, someone will be right with you," (rather than standing at the drive-thru window yawning while we wait to see if the one and only cash register person will return); "Which roast would you like?" and "Would you like room for cream?" rather than "Okay, then." Excellent customer service is why we were willing to drive past the Starbucks to go a smaller chain, but next time we're in Baton Rouge we'll just go back to the familiar. read more

CC's, I love you I really do but could you please stay open later than 6. I know we are recovering from a hurricane but I need you now more than ever. I am forced to stay at my parent's house in Prairieville because I still don't have power and I really need somewhere to go after work to unwind. Another place on my list I make an effort to stop when home. True..may not be condusive for studying, etc. However if you want a great cup of coffee, this is the place. I also take a few bags of Community back with me to PA, as it is next to impossible to find up here. If you do find it, it's very overpriced. It's best to get it from of near the source. read more

I'm visiting Baton Rouge on business and I appreciated the free wireless within CC's. The cafe reminds me of many coffee shops that I've been to in the Seattle area, only with vintage images from Baton Rouge and New Orleans instead of the Northwest Chic. The coffee was very good and flavorful, but the bagels, pastries and other food items were quite a bit more expensive then other food places in the area. read more
