To be honest, I've been going to CD One Cleaners for about two years now, simply because they are the cheapest around. In a month, I wear a number of items that must be dry cleaned, and that is even worse in the winter when the sweaters come out. CD One Cleaners made my dry cleaning bill much cheaper, however I began to realize that you get what you pay for. Sometimes cheap is just another way of saying a poor job. It all started last year when I brought in a bunch of sweaters to be dry cleaned. When I came back to pick them up, I noticed that one sweater now had a hole in the sleeve, and that one sweater literally had all the color come out of it. It was a brilliant bright coral color, and was returned to us almost white. I complained to management, however, nothing was done in the end. I sent them before and after photographs of the sweater via email, and never heard back. While I can say that since then I have not had another item ruined by them, I have been surprised at how rude the staff has gotten as time as gone on. I have also noticed how they no longer will dry clean certain items of mine. Both a shirt and a blazer that they've dry cleaned at least 20 times before with no issue, they will no longer take because of the fabric. Why the sudden change, I do not know. Worst of all, I went in today with about 15 sweaters to be dry cleaned (about $45 worth if you think about it money wise). I sat the bag down, and start pulling out sweaters. The girl picks up my first sweater, and tells me that they cannot accept my sweaters, because there is some dog fur on them. Yes, I have a dog, but it's not like we are talking about a sweater COVERED in fur. A couple hairs here and there on each sweater. Never once have they rejected a sweater in two years for fur, so why now are they telling me have to remove any hair before bringing a sweater in? Not to mention, just a week ago when I brought some Blazers in, they didn't complain. Need less to say, I walked out, and vowed to never take my business there again. My advice, you all should do the same. Other people on here have complained about ruined clothes, and I firmly believe the staff is just getting more and more rude, and the policies are turning ridiculous. There are definitely places around that may cost you the extra fifty cents per item, but it will be done right by a friendly staff. I'd go that route... read more

This place sounded great at first. It was within walking distance to my apartment and the low prices sealed the deal. Unfortunately, despite the low prices, I couldn't recommend this cleaners. On the plus side, the turnaround time is fantastic and dependable. If I drop something off at 7 on Monday night, it's ready by 5 on Tuesday, time after time. The problem is, your items aren't going to be cleaned well. For one, say goodbye to your buttons. (Bye, buttons!) I've had at least 20 buttons smashed and destroyed by this place. And these aren't low quality H&M-type shirts/buttons. Oh, they'll throw on some non matching buttons as a replacement, but when they use white thread on an all black shirt with all black buttons and thread, I'd prefer you didn't. My biggest complaint is how a brand new pair of slacks were ruined before I even had a chance to wear them. I bought a brand new pair of cotton slacks from Bonobos. After having them tailored, I went to have them cleaned here. They came back with white, faded marks all around the belt, looks, and up the legs. I returned them to be "re-done", and they came back even worse with a "this is the best we can do" tag attached to them. An email to their customer service was returned with a "take them in again" and a general indifference to the situation. The pants are unwearable, and I'm out $120. (This is my first review... kind of nervous) As I'm relatively new to the "real world" and corporate threads, I had never done bulk dry cleaning before and decided to give CD One Price a shot. First time, they met my expectations- you get what you pay for. Second time which was today, I was pretty happy, everything came out clean and pressed. I went back one hour after picking up my last batch to drop off another, and they tried to short change me $1.00!...but I politely called them out. It's not the amount of $ that matters, it's the principal of dishonesty that bothers me. This has been happening quite a bit to me lately in NYC and Chi-town, start counting your change and see how often it happens to you. The dry cleaners next to my building is like $40 for a coat. So, my friend suggested cd one, because it's $3 for any item, even coats! It's right by my yoga studio, so it is convenient for me. Love the price. Love that every item has always been ready on time. And most of all, love that all my items are 100% clean when I pick them up. They are polite. They email you as soon as your items are ready. They have free coffee. Lots of positives. I saw some complaints about waiting, but I've never waited more than 5 minutes. Also saw complaints about not taking credit cards, but they do now. Will continue using this place for all my dry cleaning. :) read more

I have been a customer since 2002, I can't disagree with the negative reviews more. I have had 2 hickups over the years, but Faheem straightened them out, he would be the owner for those who don't know. I am not sure how you can't cus he is so friendly. I think the people that have problems are the same that encounter problems everywhere in life and cast final judgement on all involve. Bottom line, they are cheep and do a great job with my slacks and shirts...I take 7 pair of paints and4 shirts there every week, plus my wifes stuff, and they do a great job. Been going here for a year and love them. Honestly, you get what you pay for, so don't bring in your expensive shiz with impossible stains and expect it to come out perfect. I don't own expensive clothes, so fine with me. They have great hours and extended hours during the summer. Really appreciate the positive attitudes and great customer service, too. This is the place where I bring all of my thrift store purchases. I will never again give them anything that cost more than $50. They have ruined numerous clothes of mine. The belt on a cute little dress my best friend bought me in California, DISCOLORED. It doesn't even look like it matches the dress anymore. I will not give them accompanying belts again. CD stained one of my shirts with their chemicals. Sent it in for "testing". They ended up giving me 6 free dry cleans for my shirt. Thank goodness it came from the Salvation Army. If you have clothes that simply need to be dry-cleaned, this is the place to go. If you are in by 10 am, you can have your clothes back after 5 pm. It's also one of the CHEAPEST cleaners you'll ever find. I've always found it more worthwhile to take my clothes here than to spend time ironing them at home. The one and only dry cleaners that I'm endlessly loyal to. It's cheap, the people who work there are always very nice, and my stuff is always done on time. They have broken a couple buttons, given me some belts that didn't belong with my stuff, but considering the many times I've been there, they get it right about 98% of the time. I used to live around the corner, so it was super easy. I moved to the Gold Coast and went to a dry cleaner here... and spent about $50 for what I could have done at CD for about $10. So now I haul my stuff (granted I have a car) all the way over there about twice a month just because I'm cheap, and I love them! read more

I took my dress slacks in for cleaning here twice so far (both due to the salty, splashy effects of dressing professionally in a city that gets 30 inches of snow in February. There's not much to say, and that's a testament to their service. In, out, gets the job done, no fuss no muss. Let's be clear here, this place has absolutely no frills. I know, I know, dry cleaners aren't meant to have frills but I pre-spot my own clothes on occassion for god's sake. Which isn't all bad, I just never expected it. Most important thing is these guys do it fast, cheap, and reasonably well (that's what she said!). If you've got red wine stains on your clothes, you can basically forget about it (although honestly, I've never seen a garment survive that). However, I have yet to encounter a time stuff isn't well pressed and ready to rock. I had taken my clothes here a few years ago because I was in grad school, and you can't beat the 2.49 per item cost since it's about half the price of other dry cleaners. No qualms with then... However, I returned recently because I had several items that needed cleaning, but did not read the reviews prior to going. Gasp! I had taken some expensive items to be cleaned, decided to read Yelp reviews, and anxiously awaited then to pick up my clothes. Okay, 7 of 8 items were completely fine, but 1 item, a red blazer from Anthropologie, looked pretty yick. I can still wear it again, but it's discolored and the color looks more drab. PLEASE follow the advice of many Yelp reviewers - take ONLY old, less expensive items here, but leave the things you care about with a more reliable cleaner. And yet, stupidly, I kept going back to them in the hopes that they would redeem themselves, until now. Then when they said they will refund me for my $150 shirt, they then said they will only refund $45 of it because of its depreciated value. I have used the uptown CD One price cleaner to launder my dress shirts every week for the past 5 years. I have always been very satisfied with the quality of their service. My pet peeve is when I put on a shirt before work and find that the buttons are broken. In the five years that I've used the uptown location, I don't think they have broken more then 2 or 3 buttons. Well, I have temporarily moved closer to the Broadway and Diversey location and decided to use them. I've taken my shirts there 3 times and I have 7 shirts with broken buttons, and not just chipped buttons, but it seems as if they were run through a crusher. These are the same shirts that I've been taking to the Uptown store for years. My clothes come out perfect every time, the staff is always nice. They've come through for me and laundered things really fast for me a couple of times when I really needed a dress shirt.The only thing I would improve on might be the coffee machine. It would be great to have a coffee machine that could make a fresh cup of coffee for the guests or customers who would like a cup. I found this cleaners when I realized Saturday night that the outfit I needed to wear for Valentines day had a stain on it. With every other cleaners in Chicago being closed on Sundays, I thought I was SOL. I googled a cleaner open on Sunday in Chicago and stumbled across this. I was able to drop it off the shirt Sunday after work and pick it up Monday after work. Amazing! Since this place is not super convenient to my house, I don't frequent here, but I recently came again when my neighborhood cleaners told me they were scared to use harsh chemicals to take a stain out of a dress for fear of ruining it (the dress was already ruined with the stain, thanks neighborhood cleaners). I've been bringing my suit, slacks, dress shirts, and more here for about two years. They just raised their prices, but with chemical costs rising in tandem with oil, it's understandable. Sometimes there is along line, but usually you can get in and out within minutes. The people don't know me personally, but I can get over that for the price. What prompted me to write the review today was I found myself in a bind and CD One Price was there for me. I woke up, started getting dressed and then I noticed my suit I planned to wear was missing the slacks. Normally, the top and bottom are taken to the cleaners together. But this time, apparently I put the bottoms in the hamper, but kept the top in my suit bag. I'm moving in a week, so my iron is already packed. I called CD and asked if they could press the slacks right away if I hurried over there. They did and they didn't even charge extra. They expedited my order and had the slacks ready in minutes. I removed one star because when I got there at opening, there were employees were in the store, but apparently not all of the employees so I was left waiting for 15 minutes until the late employee arrived and they could open. Also, when I got the slack bottoms, they told me I couldn't use their restroom to change and they directed me to Border's bathroom across the street. I'm a fan though. I've used the CD One Price Cleaners a few times now. My clothes don't come back in amazing shape, but they're cheap and I can get it done same day. So, in a pinch they work pretty well. Easy, I've got the so-so, same day cleaners down the street. "Okay," I think, "let's get there before 10:00 and get this done." I arrive and all is well. The staff is never incredibly friendly, but I wouldn't be either. I fork over the 5 shirts that I really need and say, "so, by 5:00." The guy responds, "huh? yeah." He then asks for my $5.16 of pre-paid goodness. (Like I said, cheap.) I look at the ticket. I think to myself, "where are all the other people?" I ask again, "So by 5:00?" This is where, dear readers, it goes awry: "No. We don't do any processing today. Tomorrow." So, I ask for the shirts back. It didn't thrill me, but whatever. They don't clean on Sunday. I might have also expected the $5.16 back. That I did not get. It seems that once you hand them money, it is theirs. It won't matter if you get the service, there was a misunderstanding, etc... So, I give them one stars. I do this because everyone makes mistakes and sometimes things get lost or fall through the cracks. My cloths are expensive and if that were to happen, I'd want to be going somewhere I think would refund the money or make it right. I've lost faith in you CD One Price Cleaners.
