We recently started using CD One to tackle our laundry backlog from unexpected travel, but our recent experiences have been disappointing. In late March, we scheduled a pickup and, as we live in a secured building, I included detailed instructions: dial my buzzer code, take the elevator to my floor, and I would meet them near the elevator. These were the same instructions used successfully in a prior order. Unfortunately, they weren't followed. Instead of reaching out for clarification, the order was marked as a no-show. Today, we had a delivery scheduled. I had the day off and wanted to run errands, so I called to confirm the delivery window and was told deliveries began at 10 AM. Based on that information, I stayed home, planning to go out after the drop-off. By 4 PM, I hadn't heard anything and contacted them again, only to learn deliveries occur between 1 and 8 PM. honestly don't know how this experience could have possibly been worse. went on a reco from a fellow owner in my building just down the street. i needed a very simple patching of holes in the crotch of my jeans. i should have known from my initial interaction with the awkward attendant that didn't seem to know anything about anything and just had a persistent confused look on her face that this wasn't the spot. after much back and forth about what i needed and outlining my needs on a drawing they had me fill in circling the area affected and writing what i needed in the diagram (already kind of annoying extra work), we were good to go. i triple confirmed it was clear what i needed. and they said yes, this is clear. she charged my card for it. (also, they do not do patching/alterations at the place, they send it out somewhere). anyway, flash forward to two weeks later when i get a message it was done. i go in, she (same lady) hands me the jeans in the bag and i just decided to check the work because i had a feeling. and literally nothing was done to the holes. the safety pins that had the little diagram attached was still there and she was giving it to me as if the work was done and i was good to go. then they were surprised nothing was done on the jeans and asked if i wanted to send them back. obviously not, i asked for a refund and left as quickly as i could. i had to laugh on the way back because how does something like this even happen. and how can so many people in a chain of work be so bad at what they do (or don't do)?! read more

Decent enough cleaner, and the price is right. But even with the nice price, I wasn't all that overwhelmed with the final product. I think the thing that threw me off were the hangers that they used. Just wire, no paper, with a little bit of that stretchy foam on the hanger. Some of the items really didn't look pressed or cleaned, just looked as if they simply rehung them up. The staff was absolutely lovely. When I walked in, the staff was amazingly lovely and friendly and that is why the review is getting three stars. read more

We decided to give them a try. The girl that took care of us was friendly and professional. The price is reasonable. We had 13 items dry cleaned. Upon inspection of our clothes we noticed that the press job was terrible. The shirts were all still wrinkled. We called to let them know that we would like them re pressed properly and the employee that answered the phone said that we would have to pay to have them re-pressed. Very poor customer service. I guess their prices are more reasonable because they do not do a good job. We will not be going back. read more

Came here for 10 plus years every week. Recently had a load of laundry (including a new sweatshirt that had only been worn once) damaged and they refused to take responsibility saying it couldn't have been them. Don't use for wash and fold. Disappointing. read more

If I could give negative stars I would!!!! This is my 1st time using them and never again ABSOLUTE HORRIBLE!! I dropped my dress off to be hemmed, they told me someone would call me to let me know the price and it take 3-4. I said ok that's fine, I dropped the dress off on the 13th they did not call till the 20th to give me a price, I said ok go ahead and do it. They then told me my dress would be ready on Monday the 22. I was extremely busy that week so I didn't not get there till Thursday the 25 after 5 to pick it up. It took them 20 minutes to look for the dress for them to tell me it wasn't there and would be there tomorrow, Friday the 26. It is now Friday the 26 and I'm now told it's still not here, it will be in the next delivery in 30 mins. Instead of going and doing the things I need to do, I'm stuck here waiting to make sure my dress shows up. Went back in and it was crumbled up in a ball at the bottom of a bin all wrinkled. This was a brand new dress for my brother's wedding. When I said something they said well we can press it for you but you have to wait another day then. I said no I will pay someone else to do it after the service I have had I don't want you to loose it again. read more

They are slow getting alterations done, and I took another pair of pant to them to let them know how I wanted my pant altered. I pick them up today and I noticed they never altered my pant at all because they are the same way they were when I brought them to them. So they wanted me to come back on Monday when the manager is there. But I will not be going back to them anymore. read more

Prior to coming in, I had call to inquire dry cleaning for a wedding dress and to get it preserved. The person on the phone had told me it would be $40. I even asked about if I can get my traditional Vietnamese dress done as well and they said yes they can. When I came in the store the lady who was servicing me was really rude. A traditional Vietnamese dress is red that comes with a two piece, top & bottom. She saw the bottom & said they don't do pants so I stated I called beforehand to confirm I can get my traditional dress cleaned. She look dumbfounded and said if it goes with the dress then it's fine. Like I'm not going to bring a random pants it's goes together. Then she informed me that per dress is $100 so I stopped her because the person on the phone told me it was $40. Then she pointed at the display that it's $200. Then I said wait you just said $100. How does the price change within minutes?! She said it's $199. So that's when I knew I just couldn't trust them and left. read more

These people know true customer service!! I recently took my faux fur comforter to be cleaned, but it ended up being damaged. I took it back and the owner bought me a brand new comforter! Honestly, I was completely in shock. I should mention that I have taken many comforters there over the last several years and have never had a problem in the past. However, it is so wonderful to encounter a business that acknowledges a challenge with no questions asked! I rarely leave reviews but this deserves it. I brought my dress that had accordion pleats in the back. the dress came back the back crushed and the pleats ironed out instead of ironed and settled to keep the pleats. I had this dress for an occasion and could not wear it. I have brought clothing because it is closest to me and it came back crushed like it was never ironed. Never again will this company have to worry about me. I will go to where I used to because I gave that clothes that are more complicated than this such formal where with rhinestones and they handled my clothing well. I have to now take my dress there and hopefully the pleats can be resetted or I have to buy a new dress. Upset is beyond my description right now. read more

I have switched my laundry service to CD One Price and have been happy with the price, but have felt frustrated because it seems like there is a lot of turnover of drivers and confusion about where to pick up and drop off my laundry. There have been two times in about six weeks when I got a message that the driver couldn't find the laundry so left without it. And even though I wasn't supposed to be charged extra because the driver picked up two weeks of laundry the following week, I was still charged $35 extra. Also, when they deliver the laundry, a few times the driver decides a brand new part of the building to put it, so I have to look through every single closet in a large building with two waiting rooms to find it. These are problems that I never had in the two years that I was using my previous laundry service. read more

I went to this cleaner for 15 years. Two weeks ago they shrunk two of my very expensive custom-made wool tops, one of which they seem to have washed instead of dry cleaned and refused to admit they had. THEY SHRUNK IT 4 SIZES. The second they shrunk by only 2 sizes and then attempted to stretch it out, which gave it an irregular shape and busted out the seams! When confronted they offered me $30 or $40 in dry cleaning credit. OUTRAGEOUS!!!! They are totally irresponsible. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR GOOD CLOTHES!!!! THEY DO NOT GIVE A DAMN!!!! read more

Do not trust them with any pieces you care about. Prices are very good but you get what you pay for... lately my items have come back just as dirty as when I brought them in. What drove me to write a review is that they used safety pins to secure a dress to the hanger. I explicitly asked them not to do this when I dropped off my dress. I now have four visible and irreparable pin holes on the outside of an expensive dress, which even had internal straps they could've used to put the safety pin through if it was really necessary. I was given a refund, but am left with a damaged (and still dirty) dress. I would not recommend bringing anything of value here. read more

I travel back-and-forth between Florida and Chicago every week and I am often in need of cleaning or laundry services. Three employees absolutely take care of my every need every week! Craig, LeRon, and Maria Gomez are star employees who model exceptional customer care. I travel all over the world on a regular basis and this is one of my favorite spots. A dry cleaners!?!? Who would have thought? I kid you not. They are always greet me by my surname with a smile with great energy and sometimes they will get my cleaning as they see me walking in the door!!! I have never ever experienced such incredible detail and attention to an experience. I absolutely love the cleaners on North Ashland. The clothes smell fresh and Mr. Lee is always so helpful and attentive to all customers. There is also a Hispanic lady that's just as nice. They each chat with the customers and care about our clothes, and always ask how does everything look :).All CD price cleaners are not the same. The location on 103rd and Pulaski the clothes have a musty smell sometimes. I appreciate the social distancing approach call ahead and curbside carry out. Overall, they do a good job. Today's gripe is the lack of flexibility they provide. I arrived 20 minutes past their cutoff for having items cleaned the same day. Apparently, their system automatically cuts off at 10. This is where a mom and pop shop will go the extra mile for a customer, when possible. The counter clerk was kind but has no authority. Their technology does work in favor sometimes with text alerts and all of that sort of thing, so I guess you take the bitter with the better. read more

Claims policy, Provide them a receipt, and then they will pro rate the value of those items. Low price equals poor service and values. read more

Yeah it's fast and cheap, but quality is always a dice roll. I've had garments returned with stains that were not there when I dropped them off, they once knocked off a button from a shirt and replaced it with an obviously different button, and, even if you ask several times, it's no guarantee that they'll starch your shirts. I've been driving to this location from Logan Square to take advantage of their quick turnaround, but it's just not worth it. When I picked up my shirts today, they looked worse than when I dropped them off. And of course they didn't starch my dress shirts. If you've got time and are willing to pay a bit more, go anywhere else. read more

Technically two prices! $2.49 for dry cleaning and $1.49 for laundry per piece. But still these prices can not be beat. After spending way too much on dry cleaning over the years I am finally done, unless an emergency arrises. This place is great. They typically have a couple of registers open and the process moves really fast. This is like the fast food of dry cleaning. Today was the first day that I had to actually wait in line and I am glad I did because I was able to take in this well oiled machine. First, I counted over 10 people working in front, like an assembly line at an automaker. I wonder how many were working in the back. It is great that this place employees so many people. The other thing I noticed was a Starbucks Coffee Machine. What is this I thought? Is it like 49 cents a cup? When I finally got to the counter I asked the girl if the coffee machine was new and she said, "No we have had it for a while and the coffee is free!" What? Really? Even Starbucks doesn't clean my clothes for free, after I order a $6 cup of coffee. This place will be my new coffee shop. I even decided to have a cup and it was really good. We have been using this place for a few months now and they have done a great job with all of our clothes. If you drop off at 10am then your clothes will be ready by 5pm on the same day with no extra charge. Yeah no extra charge. My little local neighborhood locations either charge me extra or I have to wait 5 days. This place is fast. I also know what the prices are going to be up front. There are no hidden charges or up fees like what happens to me at the local places. I really like that. I am surprised that this franchise is not on every street corner in Chicago. I noticed that there are franchises available. I saw the brochure sitting next to the free coffee. The creator of this business must be a genius with really clean clothes. So if you are looking to save a few dollars, then I highly recommend you come here to get your clothes cleaned. They do a great job with friendly service. I have used CD One Price for years, exclusively. Last week I picked up my dry cleaning and two sweaters were full of holes. I know I didn't drop them off that way and I know they check the clothes before accepting them to call out any stains that can't be cleaned or issues they want to make you aware of. They also didn't see any holes when taking the sweaters. Upon addressing this issue with the manager, he told me there was no way this was their fault and there was nothing they could do aside from re-clean them which is not helpful. He wanted to keep my sweaters to escalate the issue to the owner, but said the owner would say the same thing. I realize my sweaters are goners, but I expected some sort of recourse, apology, constructive customer service, even a refund for the cleaning. Instead I got a shrug, a combative attitude and no help. I said I wouldn't be returning. I guess their low prices bring in enough business that they don't care. read more

Horrible cleaners... Yeah the prices are cheap, but my clothes were not even cleaned. I was still picking food off of one of the ties that I had dry cleaned. The wool jacket looked just as horrible as when I dropped it off. Payed over $60 bucks for them to merely press my items and return them to me as if they had actually cleaned them. Use this cleaners at your own risk. I've disputed the charges with my credit card company and they won't be getting paid. Most horrible experience I've ever had with a dry cleaners. Called today to complain, and the young lady didn't even apologize for my experience, just advised me that the manager wasn't in and I'd need to call back. This place is great: efficient and inexpensive. I don't own anything thats silk, has loose buttons on it,fur, has leather detail on it, has a matching belt, has sequins on it, has stains on it, is made of a delicate material and so on. Essentially all my dry cleaning needs are simple: shirts, pants and occasionally jackets. I would hate to own a dry cleaners; they depress me. My impression of dry cleaners is that here's always some one in there complaining that their clothes are not right. They usually complain that its an expensive piece of clothing and they're sabre rattling legal action. I haven't seen this here - the store is bright, modern and new - but that's my jaded view of dry cleaning customers. No problems with CD. I usually find parking in the 15 minute spots on Wellington and am in and out in a few minutes. Plus they have free coffee. I live south of here so its a little out of the way. But I always am passing by on Ashland so I'll either drop off or pick up a load. read more

CD One, you had me at "free Starbucks for customers". Why would I go across the street to buy coffee alone when for pretty much the same price I can get a coffee AND a wool dress cleaned? I am still a little PISSED OFF. About a week ago, I went to put on one of my favorite shirts. I'm no toothpick, but there is no reason why I should insert arms to said shirt, and the buttons don't close. I felt like Tommy Boy "Fat guy in little coat." I believe that the careless attendant took my shirt, and laundered it instead of dry clean the shirt. I get it, people make mistakes. Unfortunately, this individual cared less about asking the simple things to my order such as starch on the white dress shirts? Also, this is not the only incident. I have had several shirts come back with cracked buttons on several occasions, and pants buttons coming undone. I miss my other CD One Price in the SLoop. I guess I am going to have to find something closer to me, or drive back to the SLoop. read more
