I have had dry cleaning and alterations at Tipton Cleaners. I had a very expensive dress ruined - after they dry cleaned it. I told the owner the dress was white, and now it's gray and discolored. She was incredible rude to me, and actually used profanity as I leaving!!! She also ruined another dress that I brought in for alterations. I would never recommend this dry cleaners to anyone!!! I was in town and needed to get my suit pressed before heading to a funeral. Tipton's was located nearby my hotel and had decent reviews so I left a coat, trousers and a dress shirt to be cleaned and pressed. They did a great job getting everything done on the same day but it wasn't until I got back to the hotel that I noticed pressing wrinkles in the suit coat. That's an amateur error. Perhaps if I had more time I could have gone back to have them fix up the coat but I just didn't have time to do it. Nevertheless it should have been done right the first time. read more

I'm a procrastinator. So I needed to get my suit dry cleaned and my wife's dress pressed for a wedding. Naturally, I waited until the day before. It was after noon so no cleaners were able to help me out, except Tipton's. I called there, and they said they could get everything ready for me by 10:30am the next day. Not only did they have everything ready, but it was pouring rain when I showed up, and they let me pull in by the side door under the canopy so my stuff didn't get wet. Well, a bad thing happened. My husbands favorite shirt got ruined, which we discovered a week after picking up the dry cleaning. He was on his way out the door for work, when I spy an odd mark on his shirt - it looked like a burn, but it was only on one side. We took the shirt back to Tipton, where they thought it looked odd too, as a matter of fact, none of us could figure out what it was. They said they would take it, and try to fix. I have to give them credit, they had it for weeks, they even gave it to their son who owns a laundrymat, but alas, the shirt was done. I'm all prepared for a fight, hearing horror stories from others who tried to reclaim the cost of ruined clothes, but then, something surprising happened. We discussed the cost of the shirt, and how many times it was worn. Then they asked me what we thought a fair price would be. I gave them a price, and right then and there, they agreed! They put the credit in their system, and off we went. That, my friends, is the way business should be done! While his favorite shirt is toast, mistakes happen. I've been using Tipton's for a few years now. Most of the time it's just for simple dry cleaning and laundry. But I've also had some alterations done. It's run by a very nice Korean family. What they may lack in English grammar they certainly make up for in friendliness. The alterations and repairs they have done for me have been great. I recently got a dress shirt back from them that had a new (!) blemish on it. They did, in my opinion, the right thing: they offered to clean it again for free and, when the spot was still there, gave me a generous in-store credit. As a long time customer, I really appreciate that and I will continue to use them. read more

This cleaner is a little farther from my house than others, but I will always use them. They are a couple of bucks cheaper than Gibson's on Irving Park and much more friendly. They actually smile when you come in! Very nice people and just the type of neighborhood business I like to support. read more

I always drop off and pick up my boyfriend's clothes here after finding it through yelp. The person at the counter was never friendly, never smiled. The clothes seem to be done fine but it is pricey. The dress shirt costs 3.75 even if it does not need to be dry cleaned. I requested for it to be laundered. She still charged 3.75. My reservation is that she tends to categorize lots of shirts as dress shirts instead of regular shirt (which costs at least $2 less apiece) even if they can be laundered. Parking is always easy as they have their own lot. read more

I needed tuxedo cleaned and pressed the same day and they came through and price was fair. When I put on the tuxedo jacket I noticed that the front pockets were pressed a bit strange. I will return and will make them aware to look out for front pockets. read more

Holy crap - Tipton Cleaners just saved my a$$! I am the maid of honor in a wedding in Punta Cana this Friday, but I am leaving tomorrow (Wednesday morning). Imagine my surprise when, whilst packing Tuesday afternoon, when I pull out the dress for the wedding only to see that the unworn silk dress has stains on it already!! WTH?! I am guessing the stains came from lotion or deodorant when I tried it on for my friend. Anyway, it was definitely NOT wearable. I was FREAKING out. I am very very protective of my clothing - I only stick with the same 1 or 2 cleaners for certain items. But when both places turned me away for same day cleaning (I didn't get it in in time), I yelped "One hour cleaners" and Tipton came up. I was super nervous about leaving an important dress with someone I don't know (did I say that I am protective of my clothing?!), but I had no choice but to give Tipton the chance. Now, it took them 3.5 hours to get it turned around, but hell, the dress looks PERFECT and it only cost me $8.95. What's that you say? Under $10 for an emergency cleaning situation? Yes, Tipton cleaners totally could have "taken me to the cleaners" but they didn't. They just do their job and they do it well. And they charge fairly. Did I mention they do it fast too?! For dry cleaning I would give 5 stars. They have been fine for me, fair prices, and easy parking. However, they also do sewing/alterations and I was not happy with that experience. I took a skirt and a dress in to be fixed and had problems with both. The skirt is a cheap target dress that I cut the top off and my mom sewed a zipper on the back and hemmed the waistline so I could wear it as a skirt. She messed up and sewed the zipper wrong but didn't have time to fix it for me before I left her house. I don't know how to sew zippers so I took it in and the woman was confused about what needed to be done. She finally said it would be $10 but I left really uneasy about what she would do because she didn't seem clear on the problem. I also tried to give her a dress with an extra piece of fabric I bought in order to make it longer. She said that would be expensive ($25) but then said that it wouldn't look good because the color didn't match. We went back and forth for several minutes and I didn't care that the extra fabric was a different color (I feel that cream and a very light pink color go together fine). She didn't want to take the dress because she said it would look bad. I'm not paying for their opinion...I just wanted a job done that I didn't have time to do myself. I don't agree that that should cost $25 either for a simple addition and hem. I have done it myself since then. read more

Couldn't remove simple small food stains and further damaged my trousers. They also couldn't remove a stain from my shirt. I suspect they simply washed my stuff instead of performing 'stain removal' application. I could do that at home! read more

Brought in a knee-length dress and a 3/4 length jacket to be dry cleaned on a Thrusday at 4pm and needed them back by Noon the next day for a wedding--they agreed to have both items cleaned for me by that time, which every other place I called could not do. Plus they secured all the loose buttons on my jacket. The total price was a little high, ( I ended up paying $26 total) but I can't complain since I needed my stuff back ASAP. Would use them again, ESPECIALLY in a time crunch. They did an excellet job & were very friendly. read more
