Load the baskets throw them in the car and hike them into the laundromat. Whatever happened to the art of doing laundry and socializing at the laundromat? I think I found a place set in bringing wash day back old school. Constantly on search for a cool laundromat I stumbled into Happy Hamper and glad I did. They have a good size parking lot which is a huge plus in the city. Paved clean and smooth. Looks fresh that tells you they care about their property. Upon entry I noticed the cool hanging art happy wallpaper and the modern decor. I also noticed how clean spacious and well appointed it is. And it smells good in here!! Then the music. AC/DC cranking jams out of the speakers, then a 50s tune, then a song in Spanish and loop around to more cool rock and pop hits. The vibe was immediately set. An eclectic crowd and something for everyone. The machines are clean well taken care of and folding tables clean and newer. Reasonable prices and a very well taken care of spot. The televisions played a mix of sports and cartoons. In the corner a baby high chair for customers with children. The attendant Sam was really friendly and welcomed me and was busy keeping things up. That never happens in a laundromat. She obviously runs a tight ship. I haven't been in a decent laundromat like this in a long time. I now have a new home. All around pretty dope laundromat in Edgewater neighborhood. Check it out.

Clean and friendly but at $5.50 PER WASH, never again! Thank you for your attention to this matter.read more

Yet, it is how a business chooses to respond that makes the difference. Case-in-point: one of the shirts I dropped off was a victim of a battle I'd had with a bowl of ramen. The result was tiny oily stains on the front. Generally, dry cleaners have no issue with stains of this kind. Further, when I asked the gentleman behind the counter what chemical they use, he stated it was "Perk" (writing it out). I will assume he meant "Perc"c as in "Perchloroethylene", a chemical which dissolves oil. All this to say, when I picked up the shirt, the stains were still there. I called this out, and asked "Isn't perc. supposed to dissolve oil?" The response given was that the machine was very full. (By the way, isn't Perc banned in Illinois?) I am confident I pointed these out, but even if not "We're sorry, you did not call out attention to these so we were unaware" may have been be reasonable. What was said was not only a poor excuse, but also an indication of a half-hearted job. Stuffing a machine so full it cannot clean means nothing inside gets effectively cleaned. Now, I want to give them some credit where it is due. When the shirt in question was redone, the stains were gone. The other items I had cleaned were also done properly, and I've no complaints. Other than the half-hearted excuse, it seemed the clerk was knowledgeable, as he suggested which items should be laundered, and which should be dry cleaned based on their material, however, I am not sure how much confidence I have with this, as I'd been having these items laundered easily dozens of times without issue. Thus, based on my experience, Newstyle did a solid job making my clothes clean and pressed - however, this required two visits, seeing past an excuse, and comes with the caveat that the machine in use may be stuffed over capacity and thus unable to clean effectively.

It's literally 100 meters from CTA Bryn Mawr. As for the place itself it sells clothing also along with cleaning, and alterations. You can purchase leather jackets, jeans, trousers, suits, uniforms, and other items at Newstyle. The price is great at Newstyle, and I'm very well sure that i will return in the future for cleaning my clothing items.

I told them I needed them done by Friday because I had an event Saturday I needed them for. The girl at the register smiled, said my clothes would be done by Friday, and gave me my receipt. I came in an hour before they closed on Friday, and they told me that they could not find my clothes, but to come back Saturday around noon, and they would be found and done. I was a little annoyed, but I was understanding and came back the following day around noon. Saturday at noon, they told me my clothes would be done Monday and to come back then. I stated I needed them that day because I had an event later, and that's why I dropped them off 5 days ago. The girl at the register said: "That's not our problem." and walked away. I ended up buying a completely new outfit last minute for my event, but I came in that following Monday to pick up my clothes. The girl at the register started laughing, stating they lost my black dress shirt, but I still had to pay for it, being it was still dry cleaned. Annoyed, I decided to cut my losses, pay, and never come to Eve's Cleaner again. Once I got home and inspected my clothes; my blazer reeked of cigarettes smoke and had cigarette holes and burns in it (I'm a non-smoker and I'm never around cigarette smoke), my two white shirts were pale pink, as if someone wash them in hot water with red clothes, and all 3 pants looked exactly the same! I waited all this time, dealt with all this stress, and wasted all my money for this?! Unacceptable!

Brought my shirt here and I guess they don't remove stains. Will definitely not be going back!read more

At $15 for pants and $5 for a dress shirt, weekly drop-offs become extremely expensive very quickly. While I appreciate the mission and the quality, the cost feels out of reach for everyday use. I'd love to continue supporting this type of service, but the pricing structure makes it challenging to do so consistently.

First of all if you go on to The Greener cleaners website you'll see, (if they haven't taking it…read moredown yet, thank God I've taken screenshots for the attorneys) they ask you how you want each and every individual item cleaned. After taking 3 hours out of my busy day I wrote down instructions for all of my wash. Not rocket science whites get hot water, bleach, and a snuggly softener in the dryer. This would include Sox t-shirts sheets and towels. On the other hand clothes that were darker in color would receive tide, cool water and a Snuggly in the dryer Finally and most importantly I put all fleece items which were a robe and a pair of pajamas must be washed separately as it says so on the cleaning instructions that are sewn into the garments. And because these are brand-new I emphasized it. But despite that I got my laundry back after paying $66 and everything I had sent them was destroyed. The 12 pair of new socks I had all were full of NUBS, and were pitch black on the bottom. My white t-shirts were all stained from copious amounts of beverages I dropped on them since I have MS. Everything else that was white, including my towels were terribly stained, nothing looked clean or remotely clean. It looked just like it had been folded. My box of snuggle never came back to me. Fast forward to a week after getting this bag of ruined clothing. I telephoned for the 10th time hoping not to get voicemail again and to my surprise I was answered by an Hispanic women. I explained to her nothing was cleaned, not even close to my satisfaction. It all looked as if it wasn't washed it all. That's when she told me," we don't follow your instructions, we just take whatever is in your bag and throw it directly from your bag into the washer. I said are you kidding me? You don't even separate things? NO, she said again," are you not listening to me"? We just take them from the bag and throw them directly into the washer. Well I want my 66 fucking dollars back. These clowns couldn't do wash if they were given a manual, which is what is so GD hysterical that's exactly what I gave them. Now every one of my socks, all of my hundred dollar t-shirts have NUBS on them. Now rags. Avoid this wash and fold service place like the plague, they are. A bunch of numbnuts. Oh and I forgot to tell you, I WAS TOLD BY THE OWNER, (AND THE HISPANIC WOMAN) they NEVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE HOT WATER ONLY COLD. So that exercise where they had me fill out how to take care of all of my clothing was just that an exercise for me because for them it was bullshit. They had no intention of washing anything the way I had asked them to wash either by email or by written instructions included in my laundry. Save yourself some money and go somewhere else and I wouldn't even give them one star but it's a prerequisite on this site.
