This is Auburn's only Mexican restaurant which when it first opened years ago, you would probably see us there almost weekly and would have been ranked a 4!!! Lately, however, you would be lucky to see us in once every other month or two. Why? I would chalk it up to inconsistency with food quality & taste and a decreasing attention to detail/cleanliness. First, let's talk chips & salsa. This is a Mexican restaurant-they should be nailing this all day, every day. Sometimes it's perfect. Sometimes the chips are stale and salsa tastes either watered down or has too much or too little garlic and/or cilantro. Word of advice: DO NOT EAT THE DYED CHIPS they make "special" for Cinco De Mayo or other traditional Mexican Holidays/Celebrations!!! (They are typically so stale you could break a tooth crunching into one & all you taste is the dye/food coloring!) I typically order the Burrito De Chile Rojo with steak. Initially, it was my "Go To" choice being mostly moist, juicy steak and just the right amount of beans. But again, as of late, it is mostly refried beans with a little speckling of either burnt steak crumbs or gristle/fat. Lastly, this restaurant went from impeccably clean to maybe cleanliness being a thought somewhere towards the bottom on the list of priorities. It could be speculated that the food inconsistencies come from the fact that the staff seems to always be changing & the restaurant seems to constantly need to hire cooks, wait staff & Bussers. Maybe it's the management/owner who has become less meticulous & more "relaxed" with his ever changing staff that he is too busy being their "friend" to notice that the quality & cleanliness he used to expect has drifted far from the tight ship he used to run?? To sum up: Visit here if you love a Delicious Texas Margarita that will knock you on your ass after a bad day or long, hard work week!!! Best Mexican food in the area. Menu is quite large with almost too many options. Portions are very large, and I always have trouble finishing. Great fresh salsa. Always receive excellent service. My friends and I were traveling through Indiana when we found this little gem. Honestly we didn't expect much from it as typically you don't find authentic Mexican restaurants in the North, however we were greatly mistaken. This restaurant was by far one of the best I've ever been to, and trust me I've been to hundreds across the Southwest. The servers also did a great job ensuring we had a good experience. Went to visit this place on a Friday night. It was pretty crowded but the employees handled the people pretty well. We only had to wait for about 10 minutes. Atmosphere was nice, food was good. We bought a pitcher of margaritas for $15. Thought that was a decent price. Both dinners were were about nine dollars. Chips and salsa we're also very good. No complaints. Looking for good Mexican fare? Keep Driving!! I was hungry for some fresh and wholesome Mexican food when driving from Ft. Wayne so decided to stop because Cebolla's is close to the highway. The name grabbed my attention and was lusting for crunchiy onions and something spicy. Ordered the tamale combo, beef taco and chicken burrito. Although the red salsa appetizer was on the mild side of heat, the corn chips had my appetite going for more. The taco was served first and I took one look and just one bite when I realized my appetite had vanished. A packaged,stale hard taco shell with a bland hamburger, sloppy-joe looking mixture. Tasteless. With the exception of some shredded lettuce the was NO vegetable at all- was hoping at least for som Cebolla, perhaps some cilantro, or even some tomatoes or potatoes. I'm not an expert, but some unseasoned ground meat and lettuce on a shell does not describe a taco. When I commented to the server I was told I should have ordered the taco supreme! The burrito was also uninspired- shredded chicken wrapped in a flour tortilla. I was pleasantly surprised to find one lonely piece of onion in the burrito - no other vegetable here either. The corn meal tamales were at least cooked, but each was constructed with the same bland beef as the taco. I left feeling the place was trying to cut corners and safe money by skimping on anything fresh. Although offended by a $2.25 coke, the prices fair, but not a bargain for the quality received. The menu had lots of offerings so perhaps other entrees would be be more adventuresome and tasty, but I'm unwilling to stop again the next trip. This is one of the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The staff was grumpy and they kept pushing these terrible chips & salsa. If you can't do chips & salsa you might as well give up. Would give less then one star if I could. My friend ordered a meal, his food came out... Wasn't what he ordered, but he decided to eat it anyway... And found it was fantastic. The owner came over, and apologized for giving him the wrong plate, and took it away, giving him instead a cold plate of the food he'd ordered, which was awful! His father ordered a beer, and when the waitress brought it to the table there was hardly any beer in the glass... Almost all head! How is that acceptable? Very disappointed, service was very slow, food was good. Actually thought about getting up and walking out because it took so long to even get acknowledged by the server and they were not busy. Chips and salsa didn't show up until after we placed our order for food. Food was delivered by another server because it appeared that our server had more important things to do on her telephone. Server never came and checked to see if everything was alright, offer drink refills or anything. After setting for about 5 minutes after we were done eating server came and started to take plates away, not even asking if we wanted boxes, stopped her from taking the plates and finally got the to go box. She stated that she would be right back with the bill, sat another 5 minutes and finally got up and walked to the cashier and asked if the meal was on the house since I couldn't seem to get my bill. Lot of visiting and loitering going on at the cash register by the employees. Cashier finally found my bill in the system and said wait they are still making changes to the bill. My server finally brought the bill to the register. After paying the bill didn't even get a thank you ,kiss my foot or come back. What has happened to customer service? This Cebolla's is the newest edition to the chain out of Fort Wayne (opened 2013 or 2014?) Anyways, this place is like the rest. Decent Mexican cuisine but nothing extraordinary. This location is fairly consistent as far as food and service goes, but there is the occasional bad experience. Really good chips and salsa (free!). And queso dip is a MUST. I recommend the Chimichanga de La Casa or Shrimp Chimichanga. My personal favorite is the Cebolla's fajitas. It's basically a giant plate of steak, chicken, shrimp, and fajita veggies served with soft tortillas and all the sides (refried beans, rice, guac, sour cream, pico). Kinda expensive ($14.99 for one or $30 for two) but massive portions, which means tons of leftovers to take home. Overall, the best place for Mexican food in the area. I prefer the location on DuPont Rd. in Fort Wayne, but this place works. read more

The decor looks like any other brightly decorated Mexican restaurant, but the food was excellent. Our table ordered steak fajitas and seafood chimichangas. Both were delicious and the portions were generous. The seafood chimichanga was superb and had not had one this flavorful in a long time. Great service and friendly staff. This was my first time here and my last time. Service was terrible. Took 15 minutes to get our first drink and they weren't busy. The last few time my family and I have came here, we were not very impressed with the service. We used to come here all the time, so I don't know what has happened. My siblings and I are afraid to eat off of the plates and use the silverware; they always look dirty and we are big germaphobes. The food is alright. It could be better though. We got nachos and noticed a lack of ingredients compared to the last few times we have visited. The waitress also messed our order up one time.
