Staff not friendly-cook didn't say a word to me and the girl that took my money didn't even appreciate the fact that i spent $16 on 2 tacos, barely a serving of chips and salsa and a very sour lemonade. Arrived around 12:15pm on a Monday. There were a few tables full. Not very busy. It also wasn't a very big place. There was a bar and wooden tables/benches bolted to the wall to sit at. My friend and I seated ourselves in one of the nice looking wooden tables and benches. The menu was already on the table and the waitress came right over. I ordered a pop and my friend ordered a bottle of water while we looked over the menu. When the waitress returned with out drinks we both were ready to order: chips and salsa to share; 1 chicken taco with cheese, lettuce, tomato; 1 steak burrito with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, beans and cheese. The chips and salsa were brought over after we ordered. We were given a large squeeze bottle of this green salsa and a container of tortilla chips. The salsa was tasty and had a nice kick to it. A few minutes later our order arrived. The chicken taco was quite tasty! I put some of the salsa on it to give a little kick. My buddy said his burrito was good. He put salsa on it as well. We enjoyed the food. It was a little pricey, but it had good flavor. The inside looked clean. I would definitely come back. read more

I have been coming here for years and the food has always been fantastic. I literally have never had a bad experience in almost 15 years of coming here, the place deserves to be on an episode of diners drive ins and dives. The owners are very accommodating and go out of their way to be polite and offer good service. The establishment is small but in a good way that only adds to the ambience of the place. Ignore Nancy's review she is just a poor judge of character that seems to only one star review and complain to get free food. You will not regret a visit here! As close to authentic as you can get. Mexican food and hamburgers, fries, chips, soda, water, coffee and horchata. They have great customer service, take phone in orders, walk ins too. To go is just as great as eating in. Small dining room so I suggest larger parties order to go. Great prices and fresh food, you watch them make your food on the flat top grill. This 21 seat restaurant is right smack in the middle of downtown Kendalville. Great little location on a cool street. The atmosphere was quaint and enjoyable. The prices were fair for tortas which were ok. Not the best I have ever had. The tacos were $2 and just ok. Over all the food was just ok nothing great and I probably won't be going back. There are just better Mexican restaurants that are not 28 miles away. read more

I just finished eating at Jeny's Tacos for the first time, I had high hopes for this place, and I have to say I was let down, I ordered the chicken taco and steak burrito, I thought both were bland with no real flavor, my burrito had hardly any steak in it and it was more like a wrap then a burrito, it was mostly vegetables and cheese, the meat in the chicken taco was mushy. I gave this place 3 stars only because the waitress that took my order was prompt and cheerful, other than that this place lacks a true mexican taco or burrito. read more

The chicken burrito was.......okay....it just seemed sloppy and nothing interesting. The beef taco was basically inedible, the meat was completely dry and bland and the shell was gross. Their salsa they serve with it on the side was tasty though. I would suggest spending a couple bucks more and just going to Don Chico's on Route 6 only a few minutes away, their food is authentic, inexpensive, and their homemade chips and salsa are literally to die for. read more

Our family doesn't eat dairy so we asked for no sour cream. Food was delivered with sour cream. We asked her to remake it apologetically (even after requesting no sour cream) and we were charged for the orders she messed up as well AND the re-orders! The gentleman who cooks was the best person in a restaurant environment I have ever met. I wish I knew his name, and as soon as I return, I will make sure to get his name. His cooking was fantastic, tasting every spice, seasoning, and topping- and he cooks 6 foot in front of you, but as great as this already is- he over heard my children discussing my health issue( Cancer) and if the food was irritating my throat, he brings over a fresh, ice cold coke, and with straw because this had been spoke of I can only drink using straws, and along with all of his thoughtfulness, underneath so kids did not notice, a note for a website to visit on helping with cancer, and it wasn't a fake thank you and a smiling face for higher tips because, and only because... This older gentleman, most likely with kids my age, seen and heard three younger kids talking and CARING ABOUT THEIR MOM!! You hardly see families out together theses days because life has us so busy- but to see all at once was different, And this is only my guess, the kids words of concern with me the entire time-touched his heart. I will never forget him or this visit, and when I am able to go again( have to watch out for cold and flu seasons) I will return with his name. But when you go I hope you enjoy, and everything on the menu, Taco, salads, soft shells, nachos and ask to make like a salad and you will not go anywhere else for this type, at least not in Kendallville or surrounding 15-25 miles. read more

Being a vegetarian, I am SOO happy when I hear they don't use lard but vegetable oil in their cooking! Very homemade tasting, delicious bean burrito w/two choices of cheese, enchiladas (more like a quesadilla) were very tasty, too! DH had steak taco w/white cheese & he loved them & he was very happy to get a Mexican Coke in a bottle. Lemonade was good, too. I ate here once a week when I worked in Kendallville. If you are looking for a fancy restaurant, superb customer service experience you won't get it here. It's just two guys working and it can get SUPER busy so you have to bare with them, they are super nice though. Cheese is extra, they only have bottled water and canned pop and don't dare bring your own drink. You eat your food and go. Everything on the menu is seriously delicious! The salsa is super authentic they make their own chips. Every time I ask them to make small changes to my food they do it without hesitation; like I've asked for my quesadilla made with corn tortillas or cilantro lime and onion on my tacos instead of lettuce. So if you just want delicious food this is right up you're ally. read more

I've went here a few times, decent food for the price but After tonight I will never dine there again. My order was incorrect, I called to at least get credit for the difference and I would just keep the incorrect order as it wasn't a big deal... I called and the young lady that answered couldn't assist me since she didn't take my order so she put the owner on the phone, he was instantly extremely rude and excused me of lying after he admitted to not understanding my original order. I decided to just go in there with the receipt and food to attempt to be refunded for the difference and still keep the incorrect order that I was over charged for, I was polite and not rude at all... the owner literally went off on me, ripped open the tacos and after I told him I just wanted a refund he threw my taco on my floor. He kept telling me to call the cops and that he refused to give away "free food" I've never witnessed such a hostile situation over a simple misunderstanding. I recorded the entire time because quite honestly I felt unsafe with how insanely angry he was.. I wouldn't recommend going here and if you do.. definitely do not speak up if your order is wrong. I go to Jeny's at least once a week. The menu is small which is fine with me because I've tried everything and know it's all good. They are unique for their tacos which are better than any other I've ever had. We did not get a chance to find out why this place is so highly rated. We were passing through, and decided to stop in. There is a sign in the door that says 'no outside food or drinks'. Since we have toddler, I always, always, always have a water for him and bag of toddler snacks. You see where this is going already, right? Upon realizing, he already had the sippy cup in his hand, my father mentioned the water he was carrying immediately to the man behind the counter, and the man's response did not indicate there would be a problem with my son's sippy cup. When the waitress came out, the first thing she said was "no outside drinks are allowed in here", instead of a greeting. My husband reiterated what my father had already asked, not that any clarification was needed about what it was. There was also not a chance that we would leave the cup outside - it was not disposable and those things cost money. So she refused to serve us while my son's sippy was inside the building. Really. That was ok with us. We took our business to a less petty, more accommodating, neighboring business. We spent $50 for the five of us and left a nice big tip. Bottom line, it is somewhat unreasonable to expect people to not to carry water on a hot day, especially for small children. Even when it isn't a hot day, most prepared parents have some sort of snack or drink for babies and toddlers. There are plenty of places (like every other place I've ever been) that are not only accepting of this, but happy to accommodate. Glad we didn't spend our money there. read more
