It gets the job done. This restaurant is in the heart of Bay Ridge, and it is hard to miss. It is usually packed, especially at night or on the weekend. The menu is extensive, and the outdoor seating is visually inviting as much as the inside. That was what hooked me into stepping in. I ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees, which took forever to come out. It was not a particularly busy time for the restaurant,t as I was probably the 3rd customer seated. The food did come out smelling wonderful and presentable. The appetizers, consisting of the calamari and wings, were a smash. It was amazingly fried and fresh-tasting. No complaints. The entrees were definitely disappointing. The breakfast dish consisting of eggs, sliced avocado, and bacon tasted as it should. Nothing outstanding and nothing bad. The pizza, however, was absolutely dreadful. It was very small, top-loaded with greasy cheese to the point that when you pick up the poorly cut slice, everything will fall off. It honestly tasted like the children's Lunchable pizza box set. The Cebu burger was uninspiring. It was a plain-tasting burger. A burger your uncle can make at a backyard BBQ. For $25.00, I am running to Shake Shack and getting myself 3 burgers. Overall, it was okay. I stumbled upon Cebu in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and it was a total delight! We ordered the brussel sprout salad (which initially got swapped with a kale salad), cheeseburger with sweet potato fries (which came with regular fries), and two diet cokes. BUT - our amazing waitress, Daniella, was on it! She quickly fixed the mistake, let us keep the kale salad and regular fries (which were actually pretty tasty!), and even treated us to an incredible carrot cake. Speaking of which - that carrot cake though! One of the best I've had, and I'd love to know where it's from. If anyone knows, let me know! Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night, but what do I know? I don't live around here. Nice interiors, high ceilings, and decent food. Not overly hungry, I hit the burger, which came with a cone of fries. The taste was beachy, drippy American cheese and ample patty (maybe two?) which is what you'd expect for $25. My dining companion enjoyed the endive salad with chicken, calling it "refreshing." This may be as fancy as BR gets, but we'll be back to sample a wider selection of dishes. read more

I have a love|hate relationship with this place. I've been here for private birthday parties, branches, dinner and sitting at the bar. I'll be honest - the private parties have always been a great time. The other times have been misses to a certain extent. However, I've lately stopped by later in the evening as Cebu is on my way home - the latest visit was actually pretty good. Tiramisu worth the trip & and service that's 10/10. My husband and I came for the Restaurant Week dinner ($60), he ordered clam linguine from the regular menu, I went with the set menu. Tiramisu was the absolute star (20/10) and the roasted red pepper dipping sauce was a close second (9/10). Steak skewers were about a 5/10 for me partly because I could only chew on my right side due to dental work. Though my husband liked them despite a few chewy pieces. Rigatoni with sausage had a rich sauce, but pasta was too al dente for both of us. Husband enjoyed his clam linguine, saying it was light and tasty. Service was excellent. Victoria (our waitress) was wonderful, and Sam also checked on us a few times. Attentive, friendly, and 10/10 all around. Next time, I'll skip the pasta and go with Victoria's recommendations (short ribs, NY steak, pork). Definitely coming back for those... and that tiramisu. Ambiance felt warm and inviting, with a lively dinner crowd and can get a bit noisy if your sitting by larger family style tables. Went on a Saturday night, to celebrate my cousins birthday. Was busy, rightfully so I've always liked their food. Started with the spicy ginger margarita, it was tasty but not actually spicy. We had the calamari and steak skewers as the appetizers, was also given bread with a delicious red pepper sauce. Calamari was good, steak was meh. Ordered the lobster fettuccini as my entree, I thought I liked it, not fishy or salty, very creamy and balanced flavor. Was able to try my partners mash potatoes, one word DELICIOUS. I stopped by Cebu Bistro in Bay Ridge today a little after they opened, and wow, what a great spot. I went with my mom and fiancé, and we all left full and happy. We shared the chicken Caesar salad pizza, which might sound unusual at first, but it totally works. It's basically a big, crispy chicken cutlet acting as the base, topped with super fresh Caesar salad and a hint of lemon zest. It was hands down our favorite dish. I ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice, which was delicious. The flavor and texture were perfect, but the portion was a bit small. I could have easily eaten more. My fiancé had the spicy rigatoni with vodka sauce, which was creamy, a little spicy, and very satisfying. My mom went with the eggs Benedict, and she loved it. The eggs were poached just right and the dish came out looking beautiful. The vibe was laid-back and the service was friendly. We had a great experience and definitely plan to go back. My friend and I got seated pretty quickly. I will say that we came around 4:30 which is before dinner rush. The interior was spacious with a lot of seating. We also happened to be seated near the light switches and when it was almost dinner rush, they had to come over often to work the switches. Not sure how I felt about it. But otherwise, food was good. I wouldn't say it was so spectacular tot he point of being in shock, but it was a nice meal! The burger was juicy and the fries were crispy and nicely salted. The fried cod was flaky, meaty and lightly seasoned. I sprinkled some vinegar and salt over the fish's and chips and it helped to cut the grease and lift the fish! With a touch of the tartar sauce, it was the finishing touch to a great fried cod! My husband and I have intended to check out Cebu for a while. In the past we would try to make reservations on a whim and find that the place is booked. Valentines day rolled around and we finally planned ahead and made reservations in advance. It was time and we intended to finally try their french onion soup, cocktails and a few other bites on the menu. Well- turns out we didn't actually read the website ahead of time and found that they have a special menu for certain holidays. Much to our dismay- french onion soup wasn't on the menu. I asked for it anyway and our server checked with the kitchen and obliged. Amazing. Not only was the soup delicious but the cocktails are really great. I honestly would just come here in the future to sit at the bar. We've returned once more since and the food and drink has continued to be delicious. I realize that its a busy restaurant but I do feel like often the servers are in a hurry to change over tables which can distract from the experience. I'm a slow eater- and I acknowledge it. The restaurant is beautiful and its bigger than it seems from the outside. The menu is pricey but its perfect for a special time out. read more

Fairly consistent place. I've been here a few times and enjoyed most of my meals with a few minor hiccups. My lamb chops were overly seasoned with salt last night but I still ate it all lol. Amazing!! As the last of good weather is upon us , I took the time to go on a weekend. Reservations was booked until 9 but I arrived early and got seated outside. There was a party inside and the music was really loud so outside got the best of it. I could still hear myself talk. The drinks and appetizers were good. I like fried calamari but this one here is just great! The calamari is crispy and the marinara sauce with it was amazing especially with the lemon squeeze. The frosé! Whoooo child it is strong and good. Two of those and I'm making bad decisions lol. We has a plethora of apps and decided to split an entree, no problem they actually split our meal into two plates. Not only have I never had a bad meal at Cebu, but the food has been some of the bet I've ever had. The first time I came I got the burger and my husband and I STILL THINK ABOUT IT. It was so fresh! We've tried a variety of menu items with friends and family, but our repeat appetizer is the crispy tuna rice. It is always crunchy, and very flavorful. I love that there are several rooms, each with their own ambiance. The bar is a little tight for my preference which is totally okay, because they also have a large main dining room with doors that open out onto the street giving a beautiful, large, open feeling. The staff is incredibly on top of things which we always appreciate too. There's quite a full staff working like clockwork to ensure everything feels taken care of. read more

We loved our brunch at Cebu today! My crab cakes eggs Benedict was seasoned perfectly and portioned just right. French toast was made really well and was deliciously decadent in a desserty kinda way. The cream and fruit tied it together beautifully. What really stood out was the wonderfully kind owner, who walked my mom to our seats and graciously offered us dessert. I attended a baby shower here, and boy, was I blown away. The private room for events was so nice with a moody (darker) vibe, natural light pouring in from the glass windows, and greenery. It was very spacious and had bathrooms within the room, and most of the workers were very friendly. The food was never ending, I think it was like four courses, which is just what they offer for events. First was three different appetizers per each table (or more like group of tables). The lollipop chicken wings, meatballs, and calamari were all delish. But the meatballs ranked last. Next came a small salad, which was the right amount. I don't know what it contained but it was a pretty good simple salad. Then came the penne alla vodka, which was not the best I've had but also not the worst. I wouldn't come here to satisfy that craving but it was acceptable. My entree was a French toast, which was ok. This meal took four hours! But I guess it's because guests didn't all come at the start time and we played games in between. I would consider holding an event here. read more

Super cute and very nice without being pretentious ambiance. The Christmas decoration went hard and the music was really fun pop for a traditional Italian restaurant. Very spacious, we had a friends birthday dinner here and there was plenty of space. Be warned: The chicken Parm pizza is not actually pizza but rather a chicken parm in the shape of pizza with pasta on the side and cheese on top. The rigatoni was great though and very filling. Last night was a birthday, so naturally we went to one of our favorite--if not our very favorite--restaurant in the neighborhood: Cebu. And somehow, even with high expectations, it still overdelivered. We kicked things off with three sushi rolls that could've easily been the whole meal. Two Signature Rolls--New York's Finest and New York's Strongest--and a Classic Boston Roll. The Boston Roll keeps things classic, the Finest is a bit spicy, and the Strongest is the more indulgent one--stacked high in a way that almost feels like a sushi cupcake, but in the best possible way. Honestly, we could've stopped there and been more than satisfied. But that's not how birthdays work. Next came the special haddock entrée over creamy mashed potatoes, along with our usual Bang Bang Broccoli appetizer. That broccoli is always a highlight--crispy, a little sweet, a little heat, and hard to stop eating. And then...we made a decision. A bold one. Dessert. Not one--two. Tiramisu and crème brûlée. Both were excellent and, by that point, entirely unnecessary--a final touch of pure decadence. By the end of it, we were so full we seriously questioned our ability to walk home. A car service may or may not have entered the chat. As always, Cebu delivered exactly what it does best--reliable, elevated, and quietly exceptional. Cebu Bar & Bistro is located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. We stumbled upon this place Christmas Eve Weekend after trying to go to both Kettle Black & Ho Brah for dinner and both being closed for private holiday parties. Boy, were we happy to find that Cebu was open. Even though the back room was occupied for a private party, the rest of the establishment was open for regular dinner service. Cebu is accessible via public transportation, including the R tain to 86 Street Train , as well as the B37 & B16 & B63 buses. There are various stores, eateries & hangout spots around this neighborhood, and Cebu is near a few places, including Chadwicks, which is a nice Steak House. When we eventually crossed the street and went into Cebu, we were glad to be greeted by the lovely hostess and to find seats at the bar area. Menus were provided to us, and I observed a nice-sized crowd of patrons enjoying their dining experience while eating fabulous llooking dishes. Cebu has a chic ambiance and lively atmosphere. Cool lighting and pictures are all throughout Cebu, including in the bathroom. Great music played in the background - Dua Lupa, Rihanna, etc. We ordered the "Modern Love" cocktail - Empress 1908 Gin, Elderflower & Lavender, and the "Spiked Lemonade" cocktail - Deep Eddy, Sweet Tea Vidka, Lemonade & Mint. Both of the cocktails were delightfully refreshing. Cebu gives complimentary bread, which was served warm and tasted fresh. Our Steak Skewers Appetizer as well the Entrees- Rigatoni w/ Sausage and Slamon w/ Asparagus - were good. Shout-Out to Doug, Richard, Brian, Natalie & especially to Fernando as they all were so kind to us. I've gone here before for brunch back during Corona days and didn't get the full experience since it was outdoors but this time around, I got to enjoy the ambiance when he had indoor dining to celebrate my cousin's birthday. I didn't have reservations so I was lucky to have gotten a table. The tacked were decorated with battery-operated lit candles so it created a nice, intimate setting. It's so romantic that I initially thought maybe I should have gone elsewhere for a family celebration but those blasphemous thoughts were out to rest as soon as our drinks and food came out. I ordered a Chicken Parm pizza with a side of penne a la vodka. Damn, it was the tastiest combination I've ever had. I was in heaven as soon as I dipped my pizza into a side of vodka sauce. I'm just getting hungry remembering it all right now. The Aperol Spritz that I had ordered was the perfect pairing for my food. My sister's filet mignon was too tiny for my liking but my sister enjoyed it nonetheless. Neighborhood favorite of my friends whether it be brunch, lunch or dinner, in a classic, old Brooklyn restaurant. Reservations highly recommended. Guacamole and chips was delicious and fresh. We enjoy this place and appreciate the menu. The steamed buns are the best thing on the menu--filled with beautiful short rib meat and served in delicate, fluffy buns. We also tried the seafood tower, which is not bad. In addition we even do a large take home order for my sister, husband and I celebrating my birthday here every year on the 1st of January. I also come throughout the year with friends and family as we have known this place for many years being born and raised in the area. So many options are good here like the lollipop wings the muscles , the steak skewers, the best burger in Bay Ridge, you can't go wrong with them. However, the owner was a bit awkward when he learned that I am Muslim and do not eat pork. I had reached out because their social media manager, posted that the buns will now be made with pork so as a Muslim, I reached out to see if if that was true and they informed me that it was actually a typo . The owner came up to our table to ask about it and seemed annoyed (or maybe confused?) by my ask which was odd. Not sure why thats confusing or annoying lol. I'm sure he doesn't discriminate against Muslims. Perhaps he is just socially awkward . He also was confused because Resy informed us that it was down due to restaurant week having so much traction which caused patrons to experience errors when attempting to book, this was taken care of before our visit yet when we came he thought this was weird too. He gets confused offen. We chuckled when he left just chocking it up to his social awkwardness, but in general I think let's just concentrate on all the money and support you get from us and don't worry about things that are out of our control . Despite this, we continue to enjoy the restaurant and its offerings. We love how kind service is and hope they are getting paid well for their work. Cebu is an excellent neighborhood restaurant. The food and drinks never disappoint. Service is always excellent and the owners are ever-present to make sure diners are satisfied. Every dish we have had (most many times) has been very well prepared, delicious and beautifully presented. Cebu rounds out their excellent food and service with a creative and deep bar program which features excellent bourbons, amaros, mixed drinks, etc. it always satisfies, never disappoints and often truly delights.
