It might have just been an off day, or maybe I was comparing it too much to the Chicago location, but I was a little let down by my burger. I came here with a friend on a Monday night. We didn't have reservations, but we were able to grab seats at the bar. We started with the Chopped Chicken Liver ($18.99). My friend ordered it, and it's not something I would normally order myself, but it was a nice change up. It was pretty good, and the salted buttered toast definitely made the dish. For my main, I ordered the Double Cheeseburger ($25.99) with bacon ($6.99). The bun seemed different from what I remembered at the Chicago location. The bacon also wasn't crispy all the way through. I prefer the fatty parts to be crispy on the outside, so that was a little disappointing. The burger itself was still juicy and delicious. I probably had really high expectations because my first Au Cheval burger in Chicago was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Maybe I should've ordered a Coca-Cola instead of a couple of draft beers. Either way, I enjoyed my meal and the great conversation with my friend. Overall, I had a good experience. If I'm back in Chicago, I'll definitely stop by Au Cheval again and hope it's as memorable as my first visit.
This was my first time visiting Au Cheval, and I couldn't wait to finally try the burger. We had reservations but still waited about 20 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was extremely busy and much noisier than I expected. I ordered the double cheeseburger with bacon and an egg, and I have to say, it was a thing of beauty. It may be the best looking burger I've ever had. It tasted really good too, but for me it didn't quite live up to the hype. It was a very good burger, just not the best I've had. My wife had the fried chicken sliders, which unfortunately were pretty unmemorable. The chicken really could have benefited from more seasoning. Service was average, not bad by any means, but nothing that stood out either. Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars, I'm glad I finally tried Au Cheval and the burger was definitely good, but considering all the hype, I was a little let down by the overall experience. I'll have to try the original Chicago location at some point for comparison!
My bf and I got an early dinner reservation on a Sunday at 5pm for date night to celebrate the date we first met. I tried their burger 4+ years ago and thought it was pretty good! We shared their famous double cheese burger w/ egg and bacon, silky mash potatoes and asparagus. Everything was delicious!! Our one tiny little complaint is the bun was on the dry side. I also totally forgot that I put it was our anniversary date on the reservation. We paid and were walking out when our server and another employee were rushing to our table with a cute little complimentary surprise. We were very touched by their effort :,) thank you so much! That really made our day :)
It was a fannnnnntttttassstic burger. I don't know how this compares to Chicago, but this is legit the best burger I have eaten in a while. I didn't do the egg, which I regret, but did get the thick cut bacon. The burger is a must! It's probably the best burger I have eaten in a long time. Hospitality wise, it was top notch. This group knew I had a shellfish allergy and took extra time to make sure there was no cross contamination with the burger. The wings were good as well, but I wouldn't bank on it being the draw. They also come with a warm towel, which is a really nice touch. Overall, just a great experience. I have been twice, so it is more than a one time stop.
Make reservations ahead of time as they do get busy. We came here for lunch - had a 12:15pm reservation and were seated promptly. It was pretty spacious inside. Tables are a little close together but it was ok. We got the double cheeseburger with egg, fried bologna, and fries w/aioli sauce. Fries were perfect and loved the sauce - would get the fries everytime. The fried bologna was good but salty - needed to get a coke to help cut through it. The cheeseburger was delicious. I have been to the one in chicago before and so wanted to try the NYC location. We tried the matcha lemonade - tasted more like just lemonade - would not get this again. Friendly staff and would come back! Great place to bring out of towners.
I'm still dreaming about the burger, no exaggeration. It's easily one of the best I've ever had. The flavors in the burger...the richness, everything about it just hits. I actually went twice in a short span, first with coworkers, and then I had to bring my fiancé back because it was that good. Beyond the food, the service was just as memorable. Our waitress was incredibly attentive, warm, and made the whole experience feel effortless. The energy of the space paired with that level of hospitality really sets this place apart. Already planning my next visit.

Pricing was fair, relatively speaking. Service was fast and all staff were nice. Cool vibe on the inside. Will definitely come back!

I kept seeing so many reviews about the burger here, so I had to try it. I made a lunch reservation and ordered the double cheeseburger with bacon, egg, and fries. The waitress explained that burgers are only served medium or well done, which was fine since I usually order medium and expect some pink and a juicy center. When the burger arrived, the bacon looked amazing and the egg was perfectly cooked. But once I cut into it, there was no pink at all, it was more well done and lacked juiciness. The waitress kindly replaced it, but after waiting a bit, the second burger came out exactly the same. At that point, I didn't want to make a scene, so I kept it, but it was still overcooked and disappointing. For the price point, I expected better execution, especially for something they're known for. The fries were good, though. Overall, I left a bit disappointed.
ou can't go to this NYC outpost of the famed Chicago original without getting the burger, and I wasn't about to try anything out of the ordinary here. This is a behemoth of a burger. It's got two 4 oz patties, between brioche buns, with two slices of cheddar melted in between. That doesn't even take into account the extra add-ons (which come at a price), the bacon and egg - which I had both of. Pretty much the only way I could eat this burger was if I cut it in half with the provided knife. This causes the egg yolk in the middle to break open and flow through both sides of the burger, making this an even-more-messy yet extra delicious to an already so burger. The taste is just incredible. Yes, there's a lot of fat involved - you've got the butter, cheese, egg yolk, and I'm sure the patties are not lean beef. But even with that, it's just phenomenal. The beef was cooked to a perfect medium, which just made it super juicy and that great beefy flavor. A lot of places will default to well-done, so the fact that you can make it medium here is great. The maillard reaction was a bit inconsistent - the outside is a little gray in some sections - but other that than the beef was great. It's the only part that gives a taste outside of fat, so it was good to have. Everything else is also near-perfect. From the visually delighting yet functional egg, the gooey melted cheese that tries to attach itself to the plate, and the soft sweetness of the buttered and toasted brioche buns, every part of this lends itself to a heart attack a year sooner yet immensely good in the moment. There were a couple things I would bring up as not ideal though. One was the bacon just felt unnecessary. It was pretty thick, so not crispy at all, and it just didn't feel like it provided anything of value other than making the picture look cool. There's enough flavor from everything else. Secondly, there was a lack of seasoning on the patties, and on the burger overall. A little more salt could've helped. The price was expensive. With the add-ons, and tax, and tip, this came out to 45 dollars. Probably the most expensive burger I've ever had, and this doesn't even come with a side. Is this the best burger I've had? Even excluding price, probably not, because I still think that the best smash burgers take the edge with its crispiness. Also I found burgers with a single 8 oz patty to work better than a double with 4 oz each. But it does rank highly up there. Overall, it's a very expensive meal, but if you want some of the best in the food form I'd say it's worth a try. 9/10
Tried Au Cheval and it was solid overall. The burger was okay--good, but didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Patty was a tad overdone, lacked juiciness and seasoning tbh. The roasted chicken was surprisingly good though, super flavorful with seasoned skin and really tender meat. Breast meat was cooked to perfection and the fries in the jus was delicious. The kale Caesar was surprisingly tasty. Finished with a root beer float which was another solid choice.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Au Cheval after a 7pm reservation miraculously opened up on a Saturday. My party of four was promptly greeted upon arrival, and our table was ready for our reserved time. The decor was inviting and rustic, and there was a lively, (yet somehow subdued buzz, ) throughout the dining space. Our server was super friendly, and offered input when deciding upon dishes. My group tried the burger (with all the fixin's, plus a side of red onion jam,) the chicken liver w/ buttery toast, the Prime Rib sandwich, chicken dish, and steak frites. For dessert, we opted for the Key Lime Pie, and Napoleon. All of the food was delicious, but for me, the standout was the Prime Rib sandwich, and the Napoleon dessert. I tasted a piece of the burger without the toppings, and while it was good, the egg/bacon addition is definitely what elevated the dish. All in all, it was an excellent meal, and I look forward to my next special occasion visit there.
One of my favorite burgers ever. Every time I'm in NYC, I make sure to make my way over to Au Cheval. Their dim, bistro vibe sets the perfect tone for a casual date spot. And the food and vibes certainly don't miss either. My go-to order is their burger with a sunny side up goey egg, an order of fries and some of their hollandaise sauce. We usually share a few appetizers like their steak tartare or their kale caesar salad, paid it with a nice vino and there you have it, the perfect meal. You literally can't go wrong with anything you order here.
Made a Resy reservation here. Just FYI, they require a $2.50 fee per person just to book the reservation and this does not go towards the final bill. I heard their burger was one of the best in the US so I really wanted to try it, but I was quite disappointed. It's 2 thin patties cooked to medium bcus they're so thin they cannot do medium rare which was fine with me, but the burger itself wasn't as juicy as I thought it would be and the bun also didn't amaze me at all. The burger was lacking flavor and the only thing that saved it was the bacon. Their bacon was delicious. Kale caesar salad was not bitter at all and they dressed it well and evenly. They don't use the typical kale with the curly sides, instead they use a different variety of kale, not sure what though since I'm not a salad expert. Overall great, but not worth $19.99. Roasted chicken frites comes with half a chicken on top of a bed of fries. The chicken has dark and white meat and the white meat was actually so tender. I was pleasantly surprised with the way the chicken was cooked. We asked for garlic aoili sauce on the side for the fries, must try their garlic aoili. Root beer float was sooo good. But it's also probably bcus I haven't had one in so long, it just tasted more amazing to me. The malt flavor was apparent but not overpowering. I would get this again. Kale caesar salad ($19.99) - 4/5 Double cheeseburger with bacon ($25.99+6.99) - 3/5 Roasted chicken frites ($28.99) - 5/5 Root beer float ($12.99) - 5/5 They have a lot of seating and it looks like an open kitchen. I've come here twice now, and the first time was amazing, the second time was good. My first visit was in the Christmas season last year and we came for the famous burger and the fries. After a short wait, we were sat downstairs and able to order. The mornay fries were so delicious we ended up ordering a second one, while the burger was also delicious. The second visit, we waited ~30 minutes (not bad for a walk-in on a Friday night) and we were sat upstairs. Additional to the burger and mornay fries, we got the chicken sliders and a malted ice cream. The fries were unfortunately a bit overdone and hard, and after expressing our disappointment to the waiter(since it was our favorite dish our previous visit), the amazing manager came by and remedied the situation well! The malted ice cream was also delicious! I would definitely come again. read more
I stopped in around 12:40- about 40 minutes after they opened on a Wednesday. I knew I had to get there early because I didn't have a reservation. Luckily, I was by myself, which gave me some wiggle room to grab a seat at the bar. The seating was quite tight, and I was sandwiched between two other people; however, I knew I was lucky just to get a seat. Once I sat down, I was quickly served water. I already knew I wanted the double cheeseburger with bacon and egg, so it didn't take me long to place my order. I definitely enjoyed sitting at the bar because the restaurant has an open-kitchen concept. You can watch the chefs prepare the food, which is always enjoyable for me. The burger itself was definitely an experience! It was beautifully presented, and everything was cooked to perfection. Honorable mention goes to the pepper on the thick-cut bacon- it added a nice savory kick to the burger. I had really been looking forward to trying it because I recently passed by Au Cheval in Chicago, but the wait was extremely long, so I didn't get the chance to go. This burger was definitely good. It's not at the top of my list, but it was worth the experience. I must say, it's also extremely high-end price-wise. For just the burger with bacon and egg, plus tax and tip, I paid about $47. Again, it was a treat, but not necessarily one I'd order again. I'd love to try some of the city's other standout burgers before returning for this one. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Would I return? Sure, but I would probably try something other than the burger next time. read more

Snagged a reservation for a VERY late dinner and it was well worth it--delicious fried chicken app, double burger, BONE MARROW (love love love), and steak frites! Our server was very sweet, the place is a bit crowded but makes sense--the food is awesome. We had a lovely time and my vesper martini was *chef's kiss* delicious. It's a casual spot so come as you are, eat, drink and be merry. The only mild issue was feeling stuffed until the next day, whew! read more

Very nice atmosphere, cosy, classy and cool at the same time (we were in the downstairs red room - red because of the light, I don't recall if it's actually red ). Service was welcoming, very professional and kind; excited to support while also respectful with respect to timing and space. Food was amazing! We had asparagus and steak (so incredibly buttery), plus a delicious ice cream with melted fudge on top (fabuolous), and chocolate pie. Waiting time could be a little long, but acceptable. The original Au Cheval in Chicago is one of my favorite restaurants in the country for gluttonous pursuits. I have been there a couple times and loved everything about it. Since the NYC location opened up, I have been here a few times. Though not the same menu or quality of what is offered in Chicago, the experience was still good. Unfortunately, my latest visit might be my last. Let's start by saying that high prices has never been a deterrent for me when it comes to good food. However, if the quality does not match the price, that's when I feel cheated. That was how I felt after the meal I had on my recent visit. It's been a while since I have been back, but I always come here for the same three items every time. Below are my thoughts on these items and what changed for each to make me so disappointed. Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich (5/10) - Where's the beef? This feels like shrinkflation at work. I use to love this sandwich, especially the rich thick au jus that felt more like a butter sauce. That's no longer the case either. Just a plain au jus. Why would I pay $37 for this sandwich? Guess I won't. Double Cheeseburger (6/10) - This was maybe my favorite burger in NYC. Not anymore. Look at my picture and you'll see that there is no sear on the beef patty, which looked steamed. What happened? Flavors were just not all there. Fried House Made Bologna (4/10) - This sandwich was mushy. Not the bread. The meat. Wtf? I don't remember it being like this and it's really not enjoyable. I will not be ordering this again. Simple menu, executed well. This is what every restaurant should strive for, in my opinion. Au Cheval lived up to the hype 1000%, well worth a splurge for a fancy dinner. The tenderloin steak tartare starter was delicious; quality meat paired with a tangy cream on the side, and a few pieces of toast to deliver the deliciousness directly to your mouth. Definitely a great dish, on brand with a meat-heavy meal. Then there's the burger. The main attraction. If you've made it this far and weren't planning on getting the burger, change your mind immediately. The meat practically melted in my mouth, the flavors were straightforward and amazing. Definitely in the conversation for top 10 burgers in all of NYC. We also got the shaved prime rib sandwich to share; even with all the meat in the other dishes, it still held its own. Au Cheval really nailed the au jus and the horseradish cream, sides that really brought the sandwich to the next level. All in all, a fantastic experience, with great service (shoutout to Natalie) and amazing food. read more
WHEN: Fri @11:45am Didn't really plan on eating here, but since we manage it get a table without reservations even before it opens, we thought, sure why not!? The entrance is through the side alley, where you will see people go in out before it opens because thier cafe inside is. So you can hang out in thier cafe until your table is ready. Inside it definitely feels like a swanky place for fancy burger--and we did just that: DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER - $25.99 We could have just left it at that, but we decided to go big instead of going home (I mean we can't we are from out of town). So we added the works: + BACON ($6.99) - 2 thick shiny slabs of bacon that is juicy and fatty! + FARM EGG ($3.49) - Topped with chives and pepper, dressing up the burger to look even sexier. Overall it was a juicy yummy burger. I think it would have been fine without all the extra works. But in total, around $36 for a burger...it's okay. I'd never try again cuz I don't need to, but I don't regret doing so. We felt we needed to order one more item since there's two of us eating: FRENCH FRIES - $13.99 Served with Garlic Aioli. Your standard warm and crispy fries, no complaints here! Just don't wanna come off as a cheap couple...even though we kind of are, heh. Hovering at a 3.5, I think the atmosphere and service are quite nice, but the food is just okay to good; nice for pictures with quite a high price point. We came for the burger, but for a visitor, would recommend elsewhere for burgers! The fries were the best thing by far! We ordered the most popular items from reviews: fries with mornay sauce, mac n cheese, burger with bacon and egg, and French dip. I would say the fries were by far the best; fresh crunchy fries with a DELICIOUS sauce. These fries were going by fast!! If I could return simply and get these fries, I would! For the other dishes however, we thought they ranged from okay to good. Presentation of food was really nice, but the burger was really just okay. The bacon overpowers a lot of the flavors and is a bit sweet, agree with the other reviews that the bacon really only looks good but think the burger is better without it. The meat patty itself was juicy but there is no really dominating smoky flavor or component in the burger that makes it stand out. The bun was soft and toasted nicely, but not really the start of the burger...It does look very nice in pictures however! The Mac n cheese was good, but not super outstanding in my opinion. The French dip was also okay, the bread was a crunchy but soft, and there was a lot of meat inside that was good. But it wasn't very flavorful or special, just a normal French dip. It was our friends birthday and they went out of their way to give us an ice cream dessert which was really nice. The interior is dimly lit for an elevated dining experience, and it does definitely feel posh yet relaxed. Service was great too! My friend planned a girls night dinner, which was early. It was hard to find but once I arrived it packed and busy on a Friday night. This place has been rated as one of the best places for burgers. Service was great. We started off with draft root beer, espresso martini and phony negroni. Food was pretty good. We shared the kale Ceasars salad, which was pretty good. I ordered the Roasted Bone Marrow, which was good for the experience, but I would not order it again. The Double Cheeseburger with Bacon and Farm Egg was rich and comforting. It was also deceivingly filling, I only ate half of the burger and took the other half home. My hubby consumed it immediately, but he stated that it was rich. I also learned that they also serve a no bun version of the dish. There was an order of the Roasted Chicken Frites which was a huge portion it was debone half chicken. The fries were crispy, I definitely enjoyed it. We ended the night with gluten free vanilla gelato, chocolate mousse cake and key lime pie. The chocolate mousse cake was the best of three dishes. I would definitely return to experience the no bun version of the burger and chocolate mousse cake. read more
Good burger overall; the extra fixings weren't necessary to me, as it took away from the flavor of the burger. I had friends visiting from out of town so I made a reservation for 3:30pm. They now require a $2.50 reservation fee per person which does not go towards the final bill (which is a bit frustrating) My friends and I arrived an hour early. It's really nice they have this coffee bar area/seating so there's a spot to wait (yes, you pay extra for any coffee/drinks if you want any). It was a busy day, so we were seated 15 minutes after our reservation time, but the service kindly refunded the reservation fee. read more
Had a casual dinner at this place during my NYC visit. I like their food and open kitchen concept. Their famous burger was tasty and beef quality was high. Fried chicken had a big portion and it was juicy and crispy. Also had their chocolate pie, very high chocolate quality. I enjoyed this place and will come back again read more
One of my favorite burger place in NY. I don't think I would come hete every time I crave a burger (hard to reserve, pricey for a burger, can be on the heavier side), BUT definitely do like coming back once in awhile! Great abience and the back street alley enterance is kind of fun. read more
LOVED AU CHEVAL. This is a must if you're looking for THE infamous burger gone viral on socials. We happened to get here about a hour or so before the reservation, but downstairs they have a cool little bar area you can grab drinks at while you wait. Espresso martini was so good and bar service was attentive and friendly. Once we were seated for our reservation, we dove right into the menu. Janes chicken and bone marrow to start, plus we shared the cheeseburger. Get the bacon. Get the egg. Trust me. My boyfriend loved the chicken and it is a generous amount so be prepared to share! It was hot, crispy and saucy with all the flavor. Bone marrow was done excellently and they give you a very generous amount. Add the carmalized onions and it is a flavor explosion. I feel like the burger speaks for itself but the bacon was the star of the show, honestly. My boyfriend and I could not stop talking about how thick the bacon was but flavorful and fall apart tender. 10/5 stars. I would return here in a heartbeat. read more

Au Cheval -- Very Good, Not Legendary Au Cheval came to us with a reputation. Word was that this Chicago-born spot had once taken first place in a burger competition. With that kind of résumé, there was no way we could leave it off our burger tour. We went for an open run on a Sunday and managed to grab seats at the bar without much trouble. About 30 minutes later, the place was completely full--clearly a hot spot. That said, open run is still very doable, at least for now. Naturally, we ordered the cheeseburger and added bacon and a fried egg. The egg costs $3.50, the bacon $8. Prices that make you briefly wonder what kind of chicken laid that egg. The mystery disappears quickly when the plate arrives--it's just a regular egg. No magic there. The bacon, however, was different: thick, soft, well-seasoned, and genuinely enjoyable. The pickles were fine--sweet and tangy, nothing offensive, nothing mind-blowing. The fries were exactly what you'd expect from countless other places. Not bad, not special. The burger itself followed the same pattern. It was a good burger. A solid, well-made, satisfying burger. But did it make me say, "Ah, this deserves first place"? Not really. There was no moment of revelation. The friendly staff and lively atmosphere definitely help elevate the experience, but judged purely on the burger, there was nothing truly surprising. The weight of the hype may have played a role here. We also tried the General Janes chicken wings while we were there, and honestly, those didn't leave much of an impression either. Would I go back? ...I'm not convinced. Good food, good vibes--but not a burger that rewrites the category. read more

Au Cheval launched in Chicago in 2012 and the NYC outpost opened in Tribeca in 2019 from the same owner as 4 Charles Prime Rib. We walked in around 6:45pm on a Saturday and got on the waitlist. Ended up at a table in under 15 minutes. Grabbed a quick drink at the small bar downstairs while we waited. We got the double cheeseburger with added bacon and farm egg, the shaved prime rib sandwich, and fries. Total treat and definitely a top burger in the city. read more

You really need a reservation here. We were very lucky to get a seating on a super busy Sunday evening. When I heard that their opening an NYC location I was so happy. Alas, I finally got to eat here on my birthday and got a sweet treat after my meal. The waitress was super accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed the bone marrow. I slapped that with the Jam and toast and wow. I'd eat that at any meal or between meals. The burger was fantastic . It was on the saltier side but still juicy. You gotta add the farm fried egg with for that nice ooze. I'd also pass by for the coffee shop inside the restaurant. Everything and everyone was great here. read more
Came here to try the burger- we ordered it with the fried egg and bacon. It definitely tasted good and was luxurious, though I feel it was almost too rich to the point that the flavors of each ingredient got a bit muddled together. Might try it without the egg or bacon next time. Other than the burger, I recommend the General Jane's Fried Chicken- tangy, spicy and super crispy. The atmosphere really adds to the experience- the exposed brick, leather booths and dim lighting really give it a cool speakeasy vibe. First & foremost, I wanted to give a s/o to the bartender Cole who was absolutely lovely & accomodating in finding seats for my friend & I on a very busy Saturday night. He was also just a pleasure- I wish every bartender was like him truth be told haha. My friend & I ordered old fashioneds, I opted for the oaxacan & he got the classic- we both agreed that the oaxacan is better. As for the food, we got the double cheeseburger with a farm egg & the shaved prime rib sandwich as our mains & the french fries & broiled asparagus as our mains. When I say absolutely everything was great, I mean it. If I had to pick a favorite it would actually be the prime rib sandwich versus the cheeseburger because the prime rib + gruyère was simply *chef's kiss.*. You know a sandwich is good when it doesn't even need extra condiments! All in all, despite it being incredibly busy (& rightfully so), my friend & I didn't feel rushed whatsoever. This place is worth the hype! I made late night dinner reservations beforehand (~$10 for 4 people). The place was super busy on a late Thursday for a reason, the food is phenomenal. We had some highlands sour margaritas to start, and the kale Caesar salad. The salad was perfectly dressed and delicious. We had to ask for extra dressing because it was that good. We also ordered the iconic double cheeseburgers with bacon added. It was the best burger I think I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection, and every bite melted in my mouth. came spontaneously on a friday night for date night and luckily got a table for 2 easily been wanting to try their burger for a while as i heard great things. ordered a bunch of stuff to share: - starter chicken liver wasnt the best but it was decent. big portion would def recommend sharing with 3-4 people - kale Caesar was fire - would order again. not the best caesar ive ever had but it was a good one for sure. huge portion def more than enough for 2 people - side of broccoli was really good. huge pieces so again a lot for 2 people but was seasoned and cooked really well - side of french fries was pretty pointless these were nothing special - the burger was really good we did an egg and bacon but honestly not the best burger ive had :/ but its really good and i recommend people trying it service was quick and the restaurant is huge so great for big groups. id come back! read more

Celebrated our wedding anniversary at Au Cheval in New York City and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The burger was incredibly juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Adding the egg was such a great touch -- it took an already amazing burger to another level. To make the night even more memorable, we were surprised with a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was a thoughtful gesture and really elevated the experience. This restaurant is all hype and no execution. I can't believe I had to pay $5 just to get a reservation here for 2 -- so I had exceedingly high expectations going in. That said, the food is not memorable at all. The burger with all the fixings is nearly $40, too salty, and doesn't come with French fries. We proceeded to order the $14 French fries that tasted disgustingly stale. We got those comped, which was nice, but it was a very disappointing experience despite our nice waiter. The Mac & cheese was the "best" thing we had but even then probably a 2 or 3/5. read more

Once you get your table, 45min to an hour depending how fast you normally eat. But be warned, there's usually very long wait for dinner. Not sure if they take reservations.

I think so, except on weekends when it'll be the brunch menu. But, I suggest sending them an email with your question. In my experience they respond pretty quickly.

I went for dinner and the chilaquiles were not available. I see them (in yelp phtoos) on the menu only after 11pm or 12am. And looks like they're either on the lunch and/or brunch menu. Can anyone clarify?

Nope; your question made me chuckle. There is a very current list of worthwhile happy hours over at ny eater dot com. Worthwhile and time-convenient happy hours are scarce at top Manhattan places. Consider Vini e Fritti in Flatiron.

Will/can they cook the burger medium rare? When I went to the restaurant in Chicago, I was told their assembly line production method for the burger does not permit this, and it came medium, which is too well done for me.
