The trails are well maintained and well marked with blazes. The trails take you through a wealth of biological diversity from pine forests to uplands that hug Black Creek and other smaller creeks. I haven't camped so can't speak to the campgrounds but the camp sites are well marked. Cost to visit is $2 pass that can be purchased online. The parking lot does not have good reception so better to purchase in advance. Parts of the trail is shaded but a lot of it is in the sun so be aware if visiting during the hotter months.

The…read moreS-Line Urban Greenway is an old railroad track that has been converted to a bicycle or walking trail starting around the Beaver's Street Farmers Market. As the name suggests, it is in a "S" pattern and a great shortcut from Beaver's Street's "New Town" area to Springfield. Besides the added benefit of exercise, it's fun exploring new parts of the city! The environment of the trail changes constantly! Parts of the path will be through a woodland area but soon enough you'll be along side an active warehouse where the windows showcase employees busily building things. You will ride through many historic neighborhoods that were booming once upon a time when the streetcars were in its prime. To find out more about the S-Line Urban Greenway I suggest reading this article by Metro Jacksonville. http://www.metrojacksonville.com/article/2013-jun-touring-jacksonvilles-s-line-urban-greenway The map shows the S-Line extending ALL the way up to Norwood by the Gateway Mall but I haven't yet traveled that far north. I would NOT recommend traveling this trail at night, especially by yourself. Some of the areas are a bit dodgy with incidents "felony violence" in the past in the "Weed to Seed Community." Be smart, adventurous, and grab breakfast in Springfield at Uptown Market or 3 Layers Cafe after your leisurely ride that morning! You deserve it! I am excited about exploring OTHER "Rails to Trails" in the future!

It can be a little challenging to push a stroller through, but it is not impossible. We didnt see anyone else out here. When we came back there was one car parked beside us. There is plenty of parking, and water for horses. This trail does connect to Betz-Tiger Point Preserve. There is handicap parking and a porta potty as a restroom.

This side of the park has 3.6 miles of hiking paths, however, you can combine the path with a total of 11.5 miles of multi use trails that traverses between Pumpkin Hill Creek and three nearby city parks... I decided today without my hiking shoes on to drive a little further down and across the street to the canoe/kayak launch which also has picnic tables to enjoy my lunch! It was so serene, there were birds everywhere, and I was the only human in site or sound... I'll definitely be returning with my camelback and maybe a bonafide picnic in toe to get a better look at the trails and what FL parks have to offer...

We biked to the next trailhead and back, and found the path to be very smooth and well-maintained. A word of caution: there are several road intersections where you must stop for oncoming vehicles. While many drivers are courteous, some do not stop, so please proceed with care. Although we didn't spot any wildlife on this ride, it was a very enjoyable experience. There are also some interesting-looking dirt trails along the path, which I've heard are great for mountain biking, though we didn't get a chance to explore those this time. Highly recommend for a nice outdoor ride!

The trail is relatively flat (minor elevation changes) and pretty straight, so it's not the most exciting trail. But it's recently been replaced (2022) and there are several access points & rest areas along the way. I prefer to start at the Halsema entrance around mile marker #6. There's a nice pavilion with grills and a porta potty that's kept somewhat clean. Near the end on the Baldwin side, there's a nice park with lots of shade that's good for picnics. The trails were well marked for the main, side, and exit trails. There was plenty of information at the front about the history and layout of the preserve. It was a mixture of grass, dirt, and gravel, with minimal tree roots. The trails were cleared and mowed. Even though we didn't do the whole trail, there was still plenty of trail to walk. One complaint was even though we applied bug spray, there were a lot of mosquitoes.

There were some instructions from fallen tree limbs and trees, but they were easy to avoid and move out of the way. We got to the 1.31 mile mark and had to turn around due to a small amount of water on the trail that would have been too much to push a stroller through. We were the only ones on the trail, and it was quiet. There are lots of trails off the main trail. At the beginning, there is a porta potty and trash can, along with a map of the trails. Please notice that there is a private driveway with no trespassing signs posted. I was able to follow the main trail on AllTrails for tracking.

It's a climb,…read moreapproximately 2500 feet elevation gain and the sign says it's 3.7 miles, my Garmin watch clocked it at 8 miles. There a few cool bridges, one with a rapid water flowing under. Cool seeing the trees change as you climb and the mountain it's at the lake is stunning. I got there when is was crystal clear and some ice still on the lake. If you cross the logs at the far end right when you come in you have an amazing view on the large rock across the lake. There a nice viewing spot where you can sit on some logs and take in the scenery.
