I keep trying more from the menu and I haven't found anything I don't like. Pitchers of beer are the best bet if you plan on sitting and drinking for a while. I go for lunch more often than dinner but whenever I go my service is normally good if not excellent. I would recommend. One of the best spots in DeRidder for sure. read more

Great atmosphere. Clean with friendly staff. Food came out hot. I got the blackened chicken ranch sandwich on a jalapeño bun. It was so yummy. I also got a side of their red beans and rice, which was very bland and needed spice. Their tea is perfect, not brewed to dark or to light. They did take for ever to bring our kids food out. Took them almost 10 mins. After all the adult entree's came out. So that was a big no no I'm our eyes. Bath rooms were clean and smelled nice. Great food and can't beat the lunch specials. We had the fried fish and chopped sirloin lunch specials. Each came with salad and a side. Both were very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. 2 big meals for $23. Our server, Allie was fantastic. Very friendly and made sure we were taken care of. read more

Only complaint is the Jumbo fried shrimp are small to be called jumbo, not to mention a dinner order is 17.99 and you get 6 large shrimp (not jumbo). Shrimp were ok but for $18 you should get a dozen. Burgers looked great, salads looked great so I feel I ordered the wrong thing. Great atmosphere and nice drink selection. I had a horrible experience with this restaurant. The service at a lunch was horrible. Ten staff, three customers and I couldn't even get someone to tell me what beers they offered. When I finally received a server she ha a horrible attitude and acted like it was my responsibility to know what their specials were and what beers they served. The food was bad. Brown lettuce with the salad. Meal had zero flavor. I cannot recommend this place at all. Most McDonald's offer better flavored food and service. read more

I really wish I could like this place. Good atmosphere, fun vibe, decent service. However - the first time I went there, I got REALLY bad food poisoning. The second time (I know...I went with a group and they really wanted to go there) I tried to play it safe and only ordered french fries... well, someone in my party ordered the burger (an innocent cheeseburger) and ended up with food poisoning too. Where to start. First they brought us one salad, thought we would share one. Then they brought us one steak and one potato again to share. Once they finally got the order straight, out came a bloody steak, not what I would call medium well. They did take the meal off the ticket, but didn't give us a pen to sign it. Driving through DeRidder after a family visit and wanted a local restaurant. Gumbo and shrimp & grits were both a must order for us. We were not disappointed. Zero stars. Served rancid seafood pasta and after waiting 20 minutes for our server to come back we had to get the hostess. When our waitress finally came back to our table I was informed that she would try to get the manager to take it off our check but that if I wanted something else it would be 25-30 minutes because "they are so busy and understaffed" After that our waitress NEVER returned to our table and we were forced to go find the manager on our own. Went here for late lunch (about 3pm) today for the first time. The inside decor and atmosphere were nice. They had music playing and a video screen projected on the wall. The bathrooms were clean. The AC was on way too high... it was not that hot outside today, and it was very chilly in the restaurant. My waitress was very polite, nice, attentive to my needs and overall good. However, she never introduced herself, so I have no idea what her name is. I ordered the fried mushroom appetizer and the Seafood Pasta. The food was good, nothing spectacular though... This is a nice little spot! The server was quick and efficient, not overly friendly, but not uninviting. The food came out fast and the food was cooked just right. We started with mozzarella sticks, and they were really good, we couldn't tell if they were hand breaded there, or frozen, but had pretty good flavor. My husband ordered the Cecil's Cajun Pasta and, while the portion was a little small, the flavor was great! A piece of bread to sop up the extra sauce would have been the perfect extra touch to finish this dish. I had the grilled shrimp po boy with onion rings, and it was delicious! Lots of shrimp, and the bread was heavenly! The jalapeño mayo was an awesome topper! The onion rings were more like onion straws, but, still very crispy and not greasy. Amazing spots bar near Ft. Polk. You have to try the Tiger Burger with the sweet potato fries. I tried the Cajun Sampler but had a few bites of my mother's Tiger Burger and sweet potato fries. They were the best part of my meal and I wished I would have ordered a whole meal for myself (sampler not spicy enough for me). Servers have custom-made LSU colour jerseys and the Walls are adorned with sports memorabilia. There is a bar both upstairs and down with TVs throughout. Booos: -We got there just at 2 when the lunch special ends in Saturday's, and the waiter wouldn't make an exception. We were asking to order it at 2:04 pm. Not a deal-breaker, though. Everything else was exceptional. Yays: -visible signage upon arriving. We came in off the road as travelers, and it was nice to sit down for a break and take a load off. -I've never had fried asparagus and it was lovely. -The popcorn shrimp was so lightly breaded, it melted in my mouth. Perfect sweet and spicy seasoning. -Huge portions! -Side salad was a legitimate salad with greens (other than iceberg) AND tomatoes! -The waiter was very accommodating. I LOVE Cecil's and eat her quite often when I'm in town. I haven't eaten a bad thing yet! My favorite is the Shrimp Cocktail. While the large shrimp around the top are great the small shrimp that are in the cocktail sauce are THE BEST!! All of their steaks and salads are amazing and their fried catfish is some of the best around!! Oh and for a taste of Cajun, how can I forget the delicious blackened gator bites and Cajun sampler.
