But some of the obstacles were genuinely pretty concerning. There were no safety nets, or even mats, and a lot of the obstacles didn't even have staff nearby to help in the case of injury. That being said, know your limits and you'll be okay - mostly. It's literally running up and down a mountain and pulling yourself through mud so you're going to be sore you're going to get some scrapes and bruises. I cannot reiterate enough. YOU ARE LITERALLY RUNNING UP AND DOWN A MOUNTAIN. My biggest tip? Wear as little clothing as possible (while still keeping it legal). You get wet and covered in mud. I wore yoga pants and a runner's long sleeve shirt and I was carrying around an extra 30 pounds of mud by the end of the race. Free professional photography, distributed via race bib number. It almost seems like some of the items were too slippery so you couldn't get a good drip on them. Claw games are notoriously bad though so I don't see this as too different from a standard claw machine. The workers might help with placement of a particular item for kids so ask for some help. I'm appreciative of their help and still think it's worth a visit.

They do charge a small fee for using cards vs cash, so I suggest bringing a bit of cash. You also get more tokens the more you buy. Each machine takes 1 token to play. I felt like the prizes were a lot better quality than what I thought they would be. You can trade 15 of the smaller plushies for a big one (or different prizes in general). Overall a fun place. None of us had participated in an event like this before. My wife was psyched. My daughter was reluctant. Frankly, I was confused...but I did the best I could! I was mostly the photographer and the clean clothes bag holder. We all had a total blast, despite the cold wet weather. My wife and my daughter went out in the first heat. They came back wet and happy and full of smiles. My wife is a native Spanish speaker. So on her behalf, she wanted me to tell everyone that if you participate, you don't need to feel obligated to kick ass and try to beat everyone. Most of the obstacles have an alternate, easier obstacle. Or you can skip the obstacle altogether and go around it. And you can choose to walk instead of run. However you do it, you'll be glad you participated. I also want to mention that the staff are SUPER organized. The vendors are also pretty cool too. -Daddy Maxx Retro
