Woof. I am SO glad I looked up this hotel on Google instead of Yelp because the reviews here are all over the place- but I think I know why. As I read through the reviews it's clear that people are leaving reviews for other locations / places they thought were the VUE. This hotel is perfectly located for adults, slightly off the beaten path with an amazing view! They have a restaurant and Starbucks in the hotel and partnering restaurants 10 minutes away. We checked in for two nights and honestly had a good time. There's a pool, sauna and hot tub that overlook the water which was perfect for watching it snow. Our rooms were nice, bed super comfortable. The only thing I would say is one of the rooms next to us had a loud shower and we heard it every time it started, but it would go away pretty quickly. I would stay again, this is not our go to- but the rating on Yelp is far from correct. read more

The location was good but unfortunately this was a bait and switch situation by Natura. Viewing their site, I reserved the extension building (street view) which is across the street from the "hotel". I reserved the two queen room. The picture of the room in no way reflects what my room looked like AT ALL. Definitely a motel with poor amenities and dirty! I spilled some water on the floor and used a towel to clean it up. The towel ended up completely dirty from wiping the floor (disgusting). Added picture. Also saw a piece of what I think was dried up meat next to the microwave. They indicate you get free WiFi and cable TV. I was unable to get any WiFi unless I went across the street to the lobby. I asked the front desk about it and they use the router from the hotel and expect that the buildings across the street will connect to the signal (no extender). I included a pic of the message I received on all of my devices. When it did connect, it would then indicate "Internet no connection". My nephew wanted to watch a movie so we turned on the TV. Only got 5 of the cable channels and they were 3 news channels and a cartoon channel. All other channels indicated the signal was too weak (again, probably wired into the cable from across the street). As I sat in the lobby over two days when I needed WiFi, I counted 6-7 customers who went to the front desk complaining about various things. The front desk sticks to their script and we're not accommodating or helpful. Always offered to give the money back and the person could go elsewhere. I have never observed so many complaints from a variety of people (in two days) and I do quite a bit of traveling. We have stayed in 4-5 places in the Dells and this is BY FAR the worst accommodations and customer service we have encountered. Even the "free" use of the Natura beach (which is a great perk) won't lure us to stay at a Natura "resort" ever again. Recommendation: STEER CLEAR of their hotel/lodging!! read more

The photos on the website are extremely deceiving, and must be from when the hotel first opened YEARS ago. We booked the 2 queen/bunk bed room. The bunk beds were old and dilapidated, and would only be suitable for young children. The curtains on the window had stains, holes in the carpet, food left on the floor from previous guest, and we had stained towels. The bathroom fan didn't work and the WiFi was non-existent. For the price and comfort, I'd likely stay elsewhere when visiting the Dells again. The location is nicely situated along the Wisconsin River, and if you don't mind a hike up a steep hill, it is pretty walkable to a main street with shops, restaurants, and activities. Staying here gives you access to the other Natura properties, but we didn't want to get in the car and pay for parking at each location. There is a restaurant/bar on site, which we also didn't go to, you can get room service delivered until 10 pm, when the restaurant closes. The hotel is pretty average, bordering on motel, in terms of condition. There are some updates needed in the guest rooms, like better lighting, removing the asbestos popcorn ceiling, enlarging the bathroom so there is room to put a sink in the actual bathroom, and including a TV service that actually shows you what is on the channels (or with the ability to cast streaming services from your devices). The shower pressure needs to be greatly improved; the shower head should be adjustable, and the height seems to be built for someone who is 8' tall. The room's mini fridge icebox had layers of ice that had formed, and the microwave was kind of gross. I would personally like to see both replaced with newer models. We stayed in a room that had a balcony overlooking the river, which would have been nice if the balcony had been welcoming at all with comfortable chairs and not blowing hot air at you from the window AC unit. The pool/whirlpool/sauna room is odd. They must have photoshopped the images on the website, because it's not bright at all. It's very dark inside like a dimly lit lodge, which gave it a creepy vibe. I couldn't tell if the pool was heated, because overall it was pretty hot during our stay. The whirlpool was pretty nicely sized and seemed to be maintained well. There is only 1 elevator to accommodate 5 floors, so that wait can be long depending on the time of day. The wristlet with room key must be worn at all times while on the property and is uncomfortable and must be cut off for removal. If you lose it, they charge you $25 to replace it. The staff also repeatedly referred to anyone not wearing a wristlet as "trespassers," which was just creepy. Overall, there seemed to be so many rules on what to do/what not to do; it was overwhelming. But it was fine for a 2-night stay with a young kid who really was just happy to have a pool. read more

A visit to this hotel was included in a package deal. It is one of the Natura Resorts properties when you visit Wisconsin Dells. We got a discount in the restaurant and we could use the amenities free. We took advantage of the whirlpool, sauna, and a wonderful stroll on the Riverwalk that night after dinner at High Rock Cafe. Unfortunately, on the day we visited previous guests had tossed several towels in the pool and nobody had checked the area to clean it. A quick discrete visit to the front desk, took care of that but we opted to stay out of the pool. The Sauna and whirlpool were fabulous! We were lucky enough to have three places to ourselves for anyway an hour before guests showed up with kids. It was a very relaxing way to spend the afternoon before a marvelous dinner. We had planned to come to the restaurant for the advertised brunch the next morning but decided to return home instead. Next time, we're going to hit up the beautiful sky views over the river for brunch! Everywhere we went, people bragged about the menu at The Vue restaurant. It sounds like a great place for adults for any meal!! We were told drinks and appetizers were fabulous! Next time, for sure!! The most amazing part of this property is that it's on a beautiful Riverwalk. After our dinner, we strolled the walk in the cool night. I was a little hesitant and worried about safety, being originally from Chicago! However, there were lots of people walking, an outdoor art exhibit, and the pathway is well lit with entrances to all the Riverwalk businesses a accessible from the cemented pathway. There's also a police station very close by -- near the grocery store. It turned out to be a very lovely walk. I was glad my friend insisted we go. Check out this property. Consider staying at it. It's convenient located near downtown -- close enough to walk to all the shopping and dining you could desire! Many of the main attractions are also downtown. We were staying in the Dells only one night for a wedding. This hotel was very close to the wedding venue and had a view of the river so we choose here. It is within walking distance of Main Street in the dells. Some other benefits that we did not take advantage of were the free tickets to the wildlife park, free admission to Natura, or the pool and hot tub. Our room was simple but had a great view of the river! It has two queen size beds that were fairly comfortable. Good pillows. The bathroom was quite small. The toilet is right next to the shower without much space to move around in. The sink and mirror was outside the bathroom. This was convenient if someone was using the bathroom and you just needed the mirror to get ready. It was quiet around the hotel. The only real problem we had was that we were told early check in time is 11am and that we would be able to be in our room and have plenty of time before our wedding at 4pm. We checked in at 11am and they said they would text us when the room was ready. By 1:45pm I was getting worried because we needed to shower and get ready for this wedding. I had to shower and get ready at our friends hotel because we didn't get our room until 2:45!! What's the point of early check in then? The hotel is conveniently located just north of the main strip in downtown WI Dells. The attached parking lot fills up so many guests have to park across the street which is a pain with luggage. The check-in process is easy. There is an onsite bar/restaurant. Food was good. The server kept messing up our order and not very attentive. The room was clean but felt like a cheap college spring break hotel room. Towels were thin. The view of the river was nice. Balconies are available if you want to pay more. read more

We booked a trip to Wisconsin Dells at the last minute due to a flight cancellation for a different destination. The Dells as a destination is great; this property is not. The website photos definitely make our room look nicer than it actually is. We booked a king suite with a river view. When we arrived, we first noticed how dirty the windows are and unkempt - hazy, lots of spider webs and bird droppings. There are some stains in the carpet and it has an all-around dated look. We spent the afternoon and evening around town and came back to the hotel around 10:30. Winding down for the night, we got a real taste of how poorly this hotel is set up. Here's the list: 1) No outlets available anywhere in the room other than next to the bathroom sink - how do your charge you phone, smartwatches, tablets, etc.?. We pulled the guest binder (which reflects the old hotel name) to find the way to call the front desk and found no in-room phone, so we had to call the hotel number from our mobile. We were told to plug the cords into the lamp that had two outlets...which we found no such lamp. The solution was that a house person came to the room, unplugged the floor lamp and brought in a lamp from their maintenance area that had outlets but no lampshade. As a side note, she mentioned the owners bought the hotel a couple years ago but haven't been able to afford the necessary upgrades - to the extent that the guest services binder is old! 2) Window sills very dusty with cobwebs. 3) Bathroom sink has no stopper. Heaven forbid you have something valuable drop out of your hands. 4) Safety concerns: - Smoke alarm is residential - same ones I have in my home - No sprinkler system - Lamps and other electronics connected by extension cord. I really like the location! The balcony room 1212 was so amazing. We watched the Jet boat do its whips, we watch the Upper Dells tour boat and all the other boats and jet skis out on the Wisconsin River. The hotel is on the Riverwalk. You can walk to the Pub or up to Broadway street which is Downtown where all the shops, ice cream, tours, restaurants, gift shops etc is. The hotel room was clean. The memory foam bed was very comfortable. The walls were thin. We heard our neighbors talking & their TV. The hotel is part of NATURA which has 3 properties with man made lakes and inflatable waterpark and beach area that are included in your stay. This hotel had Starbucks coffee and breakfast . They had The Boathouse restaurant just off the lobby area. The restaurant had a bar and outdoor water view seating. We enjoyed their nice pool and hot tub area. Off the main strip just a short walk down a nice little trail. The trail has historic markers that give you some history about the area. Older hotel that they keep up. It has been updated. It is not perfect but the room absolutely serves its purpose. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the beautiful river. Two pools. One inside one outside. We came for a long weekend away. The hotel lobby is cozy. Plenty of parking on the lot or across the street. There isn't anyone else really around which made it nice and quiet. Amazing view from their deck and you could dock a boat! We were less than a five minute walk away from down town, you can take the amazing river walk all the way down if you're really wanted too! Or get off at the near by pub, and less then a five minute drive from the water parks and shopping. The sheets were cozy and clean. The beds were amazing after a long day. Our ac worked, the fridge worked. I REALLY appreciated the toilet and shower having it's own, if very small, room. Plenty of towels for our four days. Good water pressure for the shower but not so much for the toilet which you would have to hold down for a minute in order for it to work for larger numbers, LOL. The pool area was nice and clean too. A large hot tub was a nice bonus. Plenty of seating and towels as well as a rinse off shower area. Free washer and dryer near by as well! The bar also has an amazing view of the river and their bartender Austin was really great and accommodating. He was very honest about the food and drinks and recommended a drink my boyfriend really enjoyed. My blood marys were WELL garnished and spicy. The bruschetta was PERFECT. Cold crunchy and a nice salty cheese on top. The walls are THIN. You can hear conversations in the hallways. One night, I had to call upstairs because after being up for 13 hours, someone up stairs was running/stomping back and forth after the 10:30pm quiet time. The elevator is slower then what most usually are, most of the time we took the stairs down. The hallways are somewhat dim. They could use a little more lighting. We didn't have a river view but it was still a really great stay. Maybe next time we'll upgrade for that river view! read more

So I never really leave reviews but there were so many things wrong that I needed to warn anyone who wants to come here. The front desk lady that I didn't catch the name of was rude and had a special talent for ruining whatever good mood we were in. Then even worse, the bed had BED BUGS!!! We paid for 3 nights and stayed and I got bed bugs. Not worth the price. Went to the hospital to see what's wrong. Other reviews also were right about the bathrooms, even in the main hotel building. There's too many nice hotels and motels downtown in the Dells to have any excuse to come here. If you come here off season there's no free breakfast either and all the perks they offer on the website are are only available after April so don't go here for the free attractions unless it's past April. Plus one of the places they offer, Timbatavi, is horrible and depressing in the way they treat their animals. read more

We booked this room mainly for the balcony that we were unable to use due to the spider infestation. I walked out on our balcony as soon as I'd set my stuff down to see the view, saw 4 huge barn spiders right off the bat, and booked it straight back into the room with the smaller spider I'd seen as soon as I walked in there initially. The lady at the front desk had attempted to tell me that we were in a rural area and those were river spiders. (I also live in a rural area surrounded by lakes with a river flowing through it less than a block from my home, those were barn spiders, not from the river) Apparently they had just had the pest control there for them a couple days prior, but that's not what the underside of the balconies covered in spider webs say. This was the worst imaginable 'vacation destination' - it became just a joke. We booked over the phone with them and received a completely different room. The outside door wouldn't close; the door to our room didn't lock and swung open unless latched, the bathroom door was the same. 6 flies and crawling bugs in the room. No closets, or side table by beds- looking at a handicap parking lot 6 ft outside the window and not a balcony overlooking the lake. When approaching the front desk with said concerns they basically give you a (not my deal) look. They did not look up nor acknowledge you . It was a roadside motel lodging. Many basic amenities not in the room. The front desk didn't think anything was wrong. They seemed surprised and did not offer to make things right. "Talk to the bar" is the non-stop answer. There is not a 'kitchenette' - it is a mini fridge and microwave in the corner of the room. Internet and Dish TV did not work in the rooms or bar. Don't trust the very deceiving website!! There is actually a very rundown motel across the road that we ended up in, instead of the place on the river that is shown on the website. It smelled musty and gross. There was NO heat (in October!), and the manager was a haughty, snobby B____.! Not even a small try at an apology. She blamed us for requesting that other bldg. We didn't even know it existed!! The pool andhot tub, and restaurant are all in the newer bldg across the road, and since it was cold that night, we didn't use the hot tub as we didn't want to walk across while wet. She could have at least offered a drink in the bar...NOTHING!! So we spent our drinking and dining dollars in other establishments in town! So.... DON'T book on their website!! A few years ago, I would have given this hotel 3-stars, but this time it's barely worthy of 1. For the price and "boutique hotel" that they market you think you would be getting a lot more. But that's not true.. 1.) If they tell you you're room will be on the first floor near the pool, just leave. The walls are paper thin down here in the dungeon. The ceiling sounds like it's going to cave in. If you're near the laundry machine, prepare to be woken up by broken squeaky machines all night. (As I'm typing this I can literally hear the person in the room next door snoring. How the heck is that possible?) 2.) The entry points on the bottom floor are downright unsafe. No security at all. Why is there no way to dead bolt or lock adjoining rooms? Not safe for guests who aren't with each other. 3.) My husband wanted to reheat his food and the microwave tripped our breaker and cause all of the electronics to go out in our room OVER and OVER again. This could be a really nice hotel, but like most hotels that are spit up and chewed by investment groups in the Dells, it's really turned into a big steaming pile of garbage. read more

One thing we want to point out is the check in is very late.They did not let us check in until after three o'clock almost three thirty p m if we'd have known that we wouldn't have arrived as early as we did. Our room was immaculate,and the beds were great. We did not like where the hangers were. Because at night, you can't see them and you walk into them. I would give this place zero starts if that was an option. I just booked a visit here by accident (yesterday!) and realized I stayed here last year and it was a total rip off. So I tried calling to cancel my reservation (a day later) and some woman in India let me know they were going to charge me a $25 cancellation fee. What kind of business is this? The lady @ front desk was extremely rude upon check-in. We were put across street from regular hotel. These rooms are beyond awful. Wall patched with a piece of plywood. There are so many great places to stay in the Dells, this is NOT one of them. We approached management with an issue regarding the AC, the Manager, Theresa, in so many words told us we were wrong - which is so sad to receive that rude of behavior coming from a manager, when we just want a working AC in our room so we can sleep. We continued to follow up for a solution, although the AC was reading at 60 degrees, the room was a humid 74 degrees, only running for 5 minutes and shutting off, repeatedly, which was likely a faulty thermostat. They finally brought in maintenance at 9pm - the 2 maintenance technicians agreed with our diagnosis of the AC - they were great to work with! However, they ended up switching it out with another AC with blew cold air which had a strong mildew smell. When I approached the front desk about this issue, they kept trying to pass me off saying the manager was not available and I should send an email to some general inbox. Instead, I am posting a review to help any future traveler avoid this same treatment. read more

The room was not clean, my bedding had blood stains all over it I had to take half of the bedding off and use my own blanket thank God I brought with by the time I climbed into bed shortly after 11 the front desk was already closed for the night. The hot tub/pool area had large areas of clear moisture and mold spots on the ceiling. It's a hotel that has nice furniture at a glance but really is not kept up well at all. I felt dirty after sleeping in the bed. The staff was nice, and the food at their restaurant was good, those are the only good things I have to say. read more

For the price you certainly can't beat it. I had a 2 queen bed on the 5th floor with a balcony that overlooked the river. The view was beautiful. The staff are very friendly and there is plenty of parking. The hot tub/ pool is very cozy and relaxing. This is our first time not staying at one of the major water park resorts up here but we couldn't be happier. Some of the fixtures are a little dated and our balcony door could use a fresh coat of paint but other than that, no complaints. The room was very clean. The TV doesn't adjust, hard to see if laying in a certain spot in each bed. It faces straight down the middle of the room. There are no drawers in the room to store anything. It's hard having someone using the desk while others are trying to watch TV. Overall, I give this hotel a B. read more

Didn't realize that they have a terrible motel across the street, and it' is cheap. Toilet is running, mattresses suck, and the mini fridge is in front of the dresser so you can't even open 2 of the drawers properly. We stayed at the hotel previously and it was so nice, we were going to make this our permanent visit the Dells hotel. Not anymore. Reserved a double queen room, not realizing there's a second lower quality building across the street. The beds are NOT queen beds. Trying to lie and say they're "hotel style queens". A complete lie, thinking people are ignorant and unable to Google anything. The beds are standard Full sized. I've stayed at so many hotels over the years, and this is literally the first one to ever try that game. This is called FALSE advertising. Front desk was completely unhelpful and just full of it. The beds are uncomfortable, cheap box spring mattresses. For over $100 a night, I have higher expectations than a $30 a night motel feel. There is an indoor hot tub and a pool area in which you can just hang out with very comfy couches. The bar is a great addition to the hotel and a great hangout spot! The girl at the front desk was so kind- great customer service! I wish I remembered her name. I know she is Romanian, such a sweet heart. One of our family mantras is, "You can't live on view." Even so, the River Inn does a great job of capitalizing on their location and making terrific use of its Wisconsin River view! Though the website photos have obviously seen some computer enhancement, the actual view does not disappoint. If you're vacationing in the Dells with children and you're going to blow it all out in the water parks all day, likely you may find a better place for a family to crash before heading out again. However, if you're a couple and you appreciate the calming serenity of a well-equipped and comfortable room with a stunning view, choose a river-view room here. The rooms are clean and updated. No 1960s bedspreads here! Stylish furnishings. Rooms have the standard amenities of fridge, microwave, hair dryer. Comfy bed! No included breakfast. Free onsite parking. Indoor pool and outdoor pool across the street. We loved the clever shade system at the outdoor pool! Nice patio area to sit and watch the river, though a 1970s radio station is pumped into this area, kinda disturbing the peace. Easy walking distance via the picturesque river walk to downtown Wisconsin Dells (and fudge!) We visited during the 2020 pandemic, so it may be pandemic or it may be the new environmentally friendly hotel business, but no housekeeping staff ever visited our room. We really didn't mind and we made our own beds, but some fresh towels would have been nice around Day 3 of our stay. I'm sure we would have been given some of we had asked, but we didn't. This is a great property. Friendly staff. The Vue restaurant is supposed to be good, but it was closed during our visit due to the pandemic restrictions. Because of a family situation, we're headed north again next week. We'll stay again at the River Inn. read more

Loved this place! I recommend the private balcony king size suite. Bonus....it's in the very top floor of the main building!!! Didn't try the restaurant. The boardwalk to downtown was super nice as well. There's a nice restaurant along the way too we loved. Also did the couples boat tour dinner which was so much fun. Loved how we didn't have to drive anywhere and docking was right next door. Rooms were clean. Bathrooms need updating and the dresser had some scratches on it but overall would stay here again but only if I have the same room. read more

I've stayed here a few times. Beautiful views at the bar/restaurant. Close to downtown. However the last time we stayed it was in the building across the street. It was raining and we immediately slipped walking in on the slippery floors. The room smelled musty. It just gave off a dirty feeling. The bathroom was also dirty. They must not have cleaned it because there was a half used shampoo bottle still in the shower. When I called the next day to inform them, all they said is they'll take the feedback and note it. This dirty room cost over $300. Was NOT worth it if you stay in the one across the street. read more

When we first looked at everything online this seemed like the perfect place to stay at the dells, 5 minutes away, free pass to Noah's Water park and admission to the Tombavati Wildlife Zoo. Now those two things were very nice and are the only reason this is getting a 2 stars. The pool is nice and everything, but now let's talk about the bad. When we arrived we were told our reservation didn't go through, and we were kicked from the hotel to the motel, on the other side of the street. As we walked over there we were greeted with a man leaving a room swearing and asking for a refund, I still don't know why. Then we got to our place, it was pretty nice, two rooms, two beds, fridge and all the necessities. The tv was messed up and without the actual tv remote, there was no way of fixing it. Then night comes, and a whole other mess happens. One word, BUGS, now granted most of them were our fault but then centipedes, EVERYWHERE! Next to the bed crawling out from the cracks, I was scared to sleep! They kept flooding out from the heater. We were all angry and upset, this ruined our weekend! read more

My disappointment was palpable to the front desk, when I found out that instead of purchasing the nice room in the big hotel I got the crappy motel 6 style room across the street. Typical bate & switch! That disappointment transferred to infuriation when I was unable to open the door. After, around 50 minutes worth of debating, arguing, & explaining, a supervisor came to unlock the door. (apparently the battery died & the lock was deadbolted). She took the "resort fee" off because of my inconvenience...what a joke considering the "resorts" are only open to us certain hours! Then comes the room! (I am including my own pictures) I was told these rooms were comparable to the hotel's room and for $200 per night they should be. However, they are not! Upon entry, the wall a/c unit stares you in the face! The desk, dresser, mini fridge, microwave, and such are crammed into one corner, then the beds are actually spread out along the long wall. Then there's a chair that looks like an ugly step sister and horrible lighting. There are boards up to cover who knows what. The bathroom is an ancient, disgusting monstrosity...pictures included! I feel like I've been a victim of fraud in the worst way. This is my first & last visit to the dells!! read more

Total "bait and switch" tactics. I had a very similar experience as Ashley C. did 6/18/2017 if you see her review from earlier. I booked a "Bridge View" room. But when we arrived, the room looked NOTHING like what's shown on River Inn's website at https://www.dellsriverinn.com/rooms-and-suites/bridge-view/. In fact, that webpage for the Bridge View rooms says that those rooms have "50 inch LCD TVs with high definition programming, convenient USB plugins, led lighting and all new temperature control units". Our room had NONE of those things: It had a maybe 28-inch or 32-inch TV, no USB plugins, the "LED lighting" was a single-bulb fixture by the door which was not nearly enough to light up the room, and the "new temperature control unit" was a wall-mounted AC unit. The single-bulb light made the room feel like a jail cell - the room was impossibly dark and gloomy. It smelled musty. There was enough of a gap underneath the front door that you could see light coming in. And the "suite"-style doors that connected our room to the adjoining rooms were so loose that I could hear everything on the other side of the door. The only way to get sufficient lighting in the room to even see anything was to open the blinds, but the cleaning crew had stacked all of the garbage just outisde of our window. It was just a drab, dark, dreary, and quite literally depressing room. But regardless of the poor quality and dismal feel of the room, my main issue is that - again - this room looked NOTHING like what is advertised on River Inn's website. I completely felt that I was tricked into booking a room here, hence my use of he phrase "bait and switch". I was led to believe the rooms looked one way, and it was only upon arriving and paying that I found out that the room looked absolutely nothing like what I was shown. Had I known what the room looked like, I never would have booked here! I went back to the office and was given the option to upgrade to the main building, which - surprise! - IS what the rooms look like on River Inn's website. Of course, I had to pay for this "upgrade". After voicing my concerns to Rich, the manager on site, he argued with me that I must be wrong...that the pictures on their website ARE what the rooms really look like and I must be mistaken. Feel free to compare the pictures I'm posing to what you see on https://www.dellsriverinn.com/rooms-and-suites/bridge-view/ or https://www.dellsriverinn.com/rooms-and-suites/2-bedroom-suite/ and you can decide if that's true or not. The room in the main building was fine. But again, I had to pay extra for it. Because of this, I felt completely misled and tricked into booking a room at this hotel. This was a total bait and switch move. So based on this, I would steer anyone that I could away from this hotel. read more
