It may be a bold statement, but I say hands down Cedar has the best Espresso Martini in Omaha. Perfectly sweet, with the right amount of coffee flavor. Served cold with a light layer of foam. The vibes are intimate and is a great place to hang with friends. They have a huge menu of cocktails, beers, ciders, and some snacks. The bartenders are always friendly and keep your drinks full. There's a good amount of seating inside and a cute outdoor patio with heat lamps. I love the location too!! read more

Not only do they have snacks, they make a fine cocktail, and have a very wide selection of beers. Also selections of ciders, sours, seltzers, and wines. It's excellent. The parking is okay. I'm here in opening hours, and it's packed out there. Not sure whose biz is flooded. This fine location has several people, but most arrived after me. Cools folks, too, FWIW The bar is rustic wood, with worn wood barstools. Charming. There are a varied set of tables with comfortable seats. While not huge, it's a reasonable sized bar. One TV at the far side of the bar. The bartender is cool. Someone called her Charlie and she responded. Served me a Manhattan with double the sweet vermouth, as requested. Hasn't quit moving. Whoever owns this place must be quite pleased with their work. I appreciate the black clothing worn by them. It's a look I favor. It's especially great when one's partner is at the nearby salon. We had about 15 of us, so we ended up breaking up into mingling groups. Cozy interior, but a few chairs need some TLC. Nice menu board and bar area. Service was attentive and friendly. I'd like to start this review saying that I used to love this establishment. The cocktails, wine selection, music and ambience used to be the perfect pre/post dinner spot for a drink. That said, my wife and I decided to grab a drink after dinner and had one of the worst experiences at a bar we've ever had. I'd like to add that this has nothing to do with the bartender. She was great. I actually feel terrible that she had to cope with a blacked out owner quite literally bumping into her all night. Playing excessively loud music, spilling drinks on patrons (my wife) and refusing to open a bottle of Braulio to a paying customer. While I'm no one to judge, the behavior of this establishment's owner was utterly disgusting. read more

I probably rate this place a 4.5 just because in their old fashion they don't have large block of clear ice which adds to the experience. Not much of an eye catcher from outside, but the inside is well decorated and warm. I love the atmosphere they have created inside this space. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar, and we had great attentive service from the bar tenders and the manager. I watched as they quickly crafted some delicious cocktails for the guests crowding this bar on a busy night. They certainly didn't make anyone wait very long. I was a little surprised by Cedar. First off, it's location is tucked away in the middle of Countryside Village in one of the nondescript storefronts. Second, there was quite an afterwork crowd there on a Tuesday evening. Now, it was mostly older guys in biz casual, but still pretty hopping. Inside, it was dark but inviting. A jazz band was setting up to play later on. They had a vinyl record player. In all, it's the type of spot you'd expect to find downtown or midtown, save for the 25 50-year-old guys in khakis. I ordered an old fashioned and it was stroooong. One and done for me, thank you. My wife enjoyed a glass of red wine. About $20 with tip for both. Stop by if you're in the area. Cedar is great for a drink or two and relaxing a few hours away. read more

I came here on a Thursday after work. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about....craft cocktails?? I ordered a Negroni, which was one of the cocktails on their chalk board. The bartender had to look up on her phone how to make it. She then asked me after I tasted it how it was.... as she had never made one before. The wine list is short and full of cheap crap. I used to be a wine buyer for a wine shop, so I know a little something about vino. Everything in this place was done on the cheap. The bartender had to look in the beer cooler with a flashlight to read the beer labels. The cash register is circa 1986 and all the tabs are handwritten on paper. I asked the bartender to split the tab, as my friend and I were drinking. That was a 10 minute ordeal. Whoever owns this place needs to hire real bartenders and not young attractive women without any experience, who are just there to make the place look good. read more

I have been to Cedar twice now and it's starting to grow on me. At first I was excited about a new place in the area- I am always on the lookout for a great neighborhood bar- but was worried it would be a little pretentious given the location. I think they've done a nice job of creating a trendy, but casual atmosphere. The bartenders both times have been great. The crowd has been mixed each time. Highly recommend Cedar! The owner is friendly, knowledgeable, and seems to know just about everybody that comes through the door. You can tell he enjoys meeting everyone. He plays good music and recommended a nice beer that I loved. They have a great wine & beer selection, but you can also feel comfortable just ordering a Busch Light. The service has been great every time. Love the atmosphere - especially the music. (I didn't go in the men's room but am told the art in there is pretty cool.) They also have a little outdoor patio.
