I've been struggling with whether to write a review wanting to give the business the benefit of the doubt but I decided this business practice is not acceptable when I saw a review from three months ago with the same complaint. The company's website has incorrect daily pricing (website says $35/day whereas they told me when I arrived in person the pricing is $65/day and they didn't share the revised pricing with me even when we corresponded over email until I came for a tour in the middle of a work day). The disregard for my time and the bait-and-switch pricing is nothing short of a scam and is a completely unethical. To make matters worse; we scheduled the tour because we were looking for a boarding place for our dog. I was informed upon arrival that all dogs must have done day camp for 15 days (about $1,000 and three weeks of time) before they can be boarded. Also not disclosed on the website or via multiple email prior to our visit. It's a shame because the facility seems nice and the employees seemed otherwise helpful and professional. Unfortunately I can't convince myself to do business with them given the shady business practice. Over three months to update their website is no longer reasonable. Update: Just noticed their Facebook also isn't updated for services and pricing. Completely dishonest. read more

We started taking our dog to Cedar River in July, 2020. At first we went with day care, which runs about $35 per day, and is available as a multi-day purchase for a discount. We learned they also offered training, so we worked with their trainer on a specific program for our pup. We did both 1:1 by day, as well as board and train. This really helped our dog and us learn hand signals, to sit, recall, lay down and stay. We've boarded her twice now, which runs $50 per day. During boarding, dogs are eat around 6, start day care at 7am, eat dinner again around 7pm, then are kenneled around 9pm. They've also started a new day camp program, which we've enrolled our dog in a couple times. In day camp, dogs are worked on agility, do nose work, and other related activities. Cedar River is great for us, and our dog loves it. She gets so excited when we pull in to their driveway...dog tested, dog approved! read more

This place has turned into a nightmare !! The first couple months were great from March to May. I brought my pup here 2-4 times a week but then new people came. Just horrible care of my animals and the cost went thru the roof. They are asking me $260 for two dogs for 20-25 hours of watching my pups, they also go to day camp on top of that ??? Like what! Maybe I could pay that for a fancy dog hotel but not a run down farm. Sad because one lady I really like but there new staff don't have any idea how to handle dogs. The one time i need them for a family vacation i got my dogs back with a huge chunk taken from his face that got infected and he needed medication from the vet. read more

Warning: this place is dangerous for you & your dog. Our dog has been scarred physically & emotionally and the damage is irreparable. The "caregivers" at this place are not properly trained and frankly have no idea what they are doing. This place is purely for profit and Stacy the owner takes no responsibility in her role when dogs get attacked to the point of needing stitches. We had every right to press charges for this incident and you might find yourself in the same position. My husband and I knew the previous owners and loved them. For years, we never had a problem until this place began packing their facilities to the brim with dogs, providing almost no trained supervision and inviting any and all dogs (including aggressive ones) to their place of business. I'm attaching photos but to put it bluntly, our dog was attacked so badly that the other dog had to be choked to get off our dog. With many stitches and a surgery later, I was told by a vet with lots of experience that it should never have gotten to this point at a GOOD facility. Someone could have intervened sooner to spare our dog. A massive vet bill later, we expected Stacy to take full responsibility for the incident, for which she did not (actually shocking). As one previous reviewer also noted, Stacy's communication skills are about that of a 14 year old. To add insult to injury, we had been assured this dog Opey had been kicked out for attacking our dog. We later discovered we were lied to and he had NOT been kicked out. Opey's owners were very nice when we reached out, and they too were outraged at not getting the full truth of what happened at Cedar River and to our dog. They ended up paying half of our vet bill however we are now left with a dog who is defensive and scared from her brutal attack. Do your research and trust your gut. You will get a very fake vibe from Stacy. Trust it and run from this place. Don't say I didn't warn you. I think this is probably a great place to send your dogs. Really liked the facility. However, when I told the person that I was there for weekend daycare and they continued to ask me a bunch of questions regarding my dog and take him back for a quick evaluation. They came out and said he did great and that the online prices don't reflect current prices. They actually don't offer daycare any longer but dog camp which is $65 a day. Why not say that immediately? Why not update your website instead of wasting people's times. I've actually emailed the company with no reply. I don't blame the employee as they were just doing their job. read more

I've called and left a voicemail, as well as sent a text message about scheduling a tour and have zero response from them.

My large dog has stayed here twice: once during the summer a couple of years ago, and most recently in December. I have also been here twice for "meet and greets" (the initial introduction, and a second time because the stays were far apart). I think it's great they wanted to see him again to make sure he still gets along with everyone. Located on a partially wooded property, the farm is family owned and operated by professional yet laid back folks who genuinely care about the dogs. The large dog barn is spacious and clean with heat during the winter and elevated beds to keep them off the floor. Generous outdoor fenced play areas offer plenty of opportunity for exercise and socializing, with sheltered areas away from sun and rain. Every time I've been to the farm the yards were clean, with staff on hand to supervise. The pups were happily running around, and my dog forgot I was there. Always a good sign. read more

We have brought our dog (boxer) here a few times. The staff is always very friendly and our dog has seemed to enjoy his stays. Have boarded him up to five days and not had any issues when we get him back. I really appreciate that the dogs get to sleep in their own are after having group play all day. I would recommend booking way in advance, as they fill up quite quickly! read more

I just picked up my dog from the Cedar River Dog Farm and he is spent from being there 4 days. This is an amazing place and you are at ease knowing you can go out of town and not worry about your dog. The dogs play outside all day so they are not stuck in a kennel like most places you board your dog. The staff and family that own this place truly love dogs and will treat yours like their own. We'll be bringing our dog back! read more

I absolutely love Cedar River Dog Farm! A great alternative to dog boarding, no concrete dog runs... family run business that allows dogs to interact with each other and play all day long. Great prices for doggy day care and for dog boarding. Staff is very friendly and are very passionate about what they do. Definitely will be taking my dogs here from now on for all my boarding needs. I spoke with the owner a month prior to my vacation. She explained to me that though she had availability to board my dog the date I needed, she first needed to meet my dog. I understood and asked when would be best. She said about a week prior would be fine. I Reconfirmed the dates I needed and hung up. I then called two Weeks before just to double check and she assured me she was open for those dates still. Now, five days before my vacation I called to book a time for tomorrow. She explained to me that she just booked a wedding group for all of their dogs and that there is nothing she could do for me. She acknowledged that she confirmed she would have enough space for my dog and only had this to say, "what do you want me to do I'm booked". I would never recommend this place if you are already stressed and going out of town. She had no remorse for my situation. read more

After a couple of years of having our dog go here, we were a bit apprehensive about the sale. While boarding for a week while we were out of town at Cedar River Dog Farm, our dog (completely vaccinated) was exposed to a dog with kennel cough in the latter part of our vacation week. I received a call (on my HOME phone) at 4:30 PM on the Friday before our return (about 24 hours plus of the CRDF personnel knowing), stating they wanted to take my dog to the vet but needed to know ASAP for they were taking dogs at 5:00 PM (30 minutes from call) to have permission to treat Roxy. I was on vacation...they had my email address and cell number but only attempted contact to let me know that my dog had kennel cough, via my home phone which they knew (or should have known that we were on an out of state vaca). Once, I recieved the message we picked her up as soon as we could after landing (a day early than we planned) and found my dog crated (never crated my dog) and without any of her familiar belongings. I can only assume she was thrown into the crate without her belongings from home for at least 2 days full days. She was shaking when I picked her up. We immediately drive to her to a 24/7 vet to have her treated $350 later. What I'm really disappointed in is, I NEVER received any apology, follow-up, or a hey how's your dog...so sorry. NOTHING. No apology whatsoever. Will never return. I would ask about the new owner business practices prior to considering them. I have since found an Amazing replacement for doggy daycare and/or boarding. read more

I am so happy I found this place for my dog Niko! I took a week long trip with family and had never left Niko that long but everything went great. They posted a video on fb of Niko the first day he was there playing with the other dogs. He looked happy and calm which he never does at the boarding places. They followed my pain in the neck feeding schedule for him which was greatly appreciated. They respond to text messages which is awesome because I don't always have time to call. I needed to book Niko there the first weekend in April and It was very odd when I did call to book because the person who answered was very short with me (unlike my previous experiences with them) and made me feel like I should have known it was Spring Break and they'd be full. I was disappointed I wouldn't be able to take him there but later that evening they responded to a text I had sent before my call and said they confirmed his stay and would see me at drop off. I mentioned I had received conflicting info and the girl texting said they were full but had a cancellation and apologized for whoever was short with me. Great customer service!
