Consistently good. Only complaint would be that REAL butter should be offered and used, and employees trained not to call margarine or butter substitutes "butter". Employees don't seem to know the difference. The details matter. Start using REAL butter and put the fake stuff in the trash where it belongs! Fast, friendly service. Great seafood. We recently went for lunch and ordered the two-item combo with Mahi and clam strips. The Mahi was excellent, but the clam strips were disappointing--very thin and mostly breading. My husband had the Flounder, which was good, but we'd definitely recommend avoiding the clam strips. Service was just okay. We sat outside, and it took forever to get our drinks. Our server only checked on us once, and that was almost when we were finished eating. The restaurant wasn't too busy, but with only two servers, they seemed overwhelmed. I even had to go inside to ask for my server just to pay the bill, which took another five minutes. Overall, it wasn't a great experience. We had stopped coming here before due to poor service, and unfortunately, nothing has changed. The prices are reasonable for seafood, but the portions seem smaller now. Next time, we'll drive to Corky Bells--service and food there are always excellent. The food was the big hit. The menu is diverse and the food is delicious. You can get it your way-fried , broiled or blackened. Strangely though, if you get three different types of seafood in their combo meal, theybs have to be cooked the same way. We finally gave in and tried them. Not that I have anything against Cedar River, I'm just worried about cross contamination with shrimp (that I'm allergic to) in our on my plate or food. No need to worry here, though. They did an excellent job! Tonight's specials were AYCE shrimp and AYCE flounder filets. My husband of course got the shrimp with fries and I opted for the seafood trio of flounder, calamari and scallops with a side of limas and garlic mashed potatoes. Phenomenal! Not greasy, lightly fried and very tender -- so not overcooked at all. Scallops were as delicious as I've ever had (except in Hyannis, MA). Calamari was also cooked to perfection. Only downfall was the teeny tiny little piece of flounder I had, but I was full from my food just as if I'd eaten a HUGE pile of food. We definitely got our money's worth! While the hubby was working his way thru his 3rd helping of shrimp, I remembered the menu had "fried cheesecake" and thought, Omg...I've got nothing to bring home to the dog and boy is she gonna be UPSET! So I ordered the fried cheesecake with sauce, tried half of it and boxed the other half to take home. She'll be very happy!! Had dinner here tonight for the first time. Our server, Jessica, was the absolute best. I ordered the senior portion of fried flounder plus fried shrimp. My husband ordered scallops, but, after tasting my shrimp, he wished he'd gotten what I did. The restaurant was very clean, and decorated very nicely. Gator tail appetizer was delicious tender served with a house made Ranch dip. Oyster Po boy huge with plenty of Oysters. However, I would recommend not having the coleslaw on the Po boy since it made the roll soggy. The stuffed flounder was disappointing since the flounder tasted previously frozen. The cheese grits and okra were very good. Server was pleasant and efficient. I would recommend for a reasonably priced seafood meal. read more

A great gathering place in Keystone Heights that has excellent seafood, sides and cold beer. What more could you want? Well, on Thursday evenings, you get Music Bingo for free with Cedar River gift certificates as prizes. We were here with a large (14 ppl) group, so we had a reservation for the Bingo area, which is only done at the outdoor seating area. Our tables were set up and ready upon arrival, and drink orders were taken and delivered. Next were app and dinner orders up and down the line, with apps arriving with enough time to finish them before meals showed up. And they were raved about all around the tables, hot and fresh. I have been to other Cedar River locations in the area and this is by far the best one I've been to. One slight hiccup with dinner timing was that salads were delivered after entrees were, but not a deal killer. Service was adequate for only having one server for the entire outdoor seating area, which had over 50 patrons. Management should have at least 2 out there, especially on popular nights like Music Bingo. That's the reason for 4 vice 5 stars for tonight's visit. If you find yourself in the area and in need a good meal, give this place a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

They continue to raise their prices to where it just isn't that great anymore. Their not on the water, in a bad gravel driveway.Today the service was iffy, she was trying but too many tables and chores to do, sit people , get drinks, do bills. The bartender was nice but had to look up how to make a lemon drop on google, then said if it wasn't good let her know. The food came out in batches, some people got theirs other waited and with out their side dishes. They need more help, that's obviously a problem. One person order fish and chips from special on the entrance special board , which had no prices, didn't ask, gets the bill, it was like 23.58! That May included tea, no sure but surely not worth it anymore and one of my favorite places bites the dust. The place was like any mass seafood place inside, has outside seating. Great experience tonight. Our party of theee enjoyed fried shrimp, fried flounder, fried clam strips. All delicious! Our sides were good too: Cole slaw, cheese grits, collard greens, fried okra. Service was very good and the restaurant seemed very clean (although maybe lacking a bit in the ambiance department). Draft beer was ice cold and hubby enjoyed his Bloody Mary. if I could give this 0 stars it would be 0. the prices are insane it's cheaper to feed 15 people at lonestar steak house in palatka than it was to feed my family of 7 here. 5 of which were kids who ate off the kids menu. crab legs were served ice cold, appetizers came after food was served, I thought appetizers were supposed to come before your meal to hold you over, and the fact that there was 4 tables that came in after us, one of which was atleast 15-18 people , one was 6 people and another table was 3 people and the last table was 2 people all of which got their food and drinks before we got any food. My husband ordered the grouper fingerlings. When they arrive they were a lightly browned ( they were slightly and I mean slightly browner than the attached picture) color BUT the meat was light gray in color and fleshy looking (see attached picture) . I researched this and grouper when cooked should be flaky ( this wasn't ) and white ( not light grey in color) and should not look like uncooked flesh. The owner said he doesn't make it really brown ( darker than what was served ) unless the customer asked. The only thing that was really dark brown was the hush puppies and if the fish was that dark brown I would have thought it got cooked too long but this was the color you would have wanted French fries , light yellow. Just be aware of wether on not your fish is flaky or not. All fish when properly cooked should be flaky ( my husbands didn't look like the picture I attached to this) and I don't mean dry flaky either. The undesirable experience was . When we called the waitress over and brought it to her attention she said with an unpleasant attitude " what do you want me to do about it?" And when he said never mind just take it off my bill she put the plate back, food almost slide off the plate, on our table and walked off. The cook ( maybe owner ) came out looked at the food . We told him it looked fleshy and that is when we said if he cooked it any longer it would have burned. In my opinion maybe had the grease too hot and that is why the meat looked fleshy. We felt like the cook was trying to make it out like we were wrong . But sorry my husband worked in the kitchen at Steak and Ale for a few years as a young adult and I grew up with an avid fisherman so I know what undercooked fish and shrimp looks like. The atmosphere was clean and the people were nice before all this happened. With the attitudes when all this took place we will not be back. read more

I like this place. Always had good food service is kind of spotty depending on when you go and who you get. I feel like they might have a lot of turnover in staff because sometimes things aren't as consistent as they could be. The absolutely worst Shrimp Alfredo I've ever eaten. I ordered take out last night at about 6pm. I ordered the shrimp Alfredo and they asked if I wanted the shrimp broiled, fried or blackened. I thought it was odd but ordered broiled. What I actually received was none of the above. Seemed like shrimp on a dirty grill. The sauce was bland and the pasta soggy. Have always love Cedar River, Even more now that they are in Keystone. Not much on Ambience with the bright lighting and noise and they never have a band or anything so don't expect that. Those would be a couple of improvements I would make, At least change the lighting to table lighting. Maybe add some soundproofing measures like carpet and wall treatments to absorb the horrible echo in there. The food and service is great just not the atmosphere so much. read more

The fact that it took a year to get a response from a representative of the restaurant lets you know how engaged they are. I had a horrible experience. Yes, I brought our food issue- which I wouldn't have served to my own family, and would have been embarrassed to serve to a guest let alone expect someone to pay for it- to the server who assured me that she would "pass it on". This restaurant takes advantage of the fact that they have limited competition in an area where "Well, unless you want to drive 30 miles, what are you gonna do,".
