Honestly, I haven't had a crab boil in a minute and this hit the spot. The crab was cooked perfectly the corn the potatoes there was enough of everything. There was so much sausage. There was a lot of shrimp and since it's seafood like I felt full when I left, but like not like bloated and you can ask for extra sauce, I love the extra sauce. It was so good I mean like seriously if you haven't had a crab boil in a minute, go to this place down in Gainesville, Mr. and Mrs. crab I 10 out of 10 recommend. For drinks I got the rum runner of course drinks could always have probably a little more alcohol, but it was good enough so I got two and the ambience of course was nice. I was really hoping for a better experience! I was sat rather quickly on an early afternoon with only four other tables sat. I waited for nearly 15 minutes for a server to arrive. (Unbeknownst to me my server was the bartender despite my not sitting in the bar area). When he did arrive he was nice enough and took the order although didn't bring drinks until 10 minutes after my appetizer arrived. My biggest complaint though comes from the absolutely insipid crawfish; I got two pounds and one pound of snow crab. The crawfish was tasteless and very much seemed prepared from directly from frozen. For a seafood place I'm a quite displeased with that, but would give them another change but wouldn't order the crawfish. read more

We went on a random Monday night for my husband's birthday and found it to be absolutely fantastic. The Mr. and Mrs. Krabs seasoning is perfect. I don't like spice so I got no spices; my husband likes some spice and he got mild; his brother likes a lot of spice and he got medium. Absolutely the best crabs ever! I don't know what they put in their seasoning, but it is truly ambrosia and if I could bottle it, I would. I have to say that three crabs make up a pound, which seems a little on the short side, especially as I was hungry, however no complaints. I suppose a bit more potato wouldn't hurt. This place is outrageously good and on my return trip we'll definitely stop here. Meantime- what's the recipe. I need this at home. The Build Your Own Boil was a lot of food compared to other seafood restaurants that offer the same boil. With a great option to add more of what you like, of course it cost extra but you can add more potatoes or corn or boiled egg, n other yummy yummy yummy options. During the day, family friendly environment. Kid's menu for kids. TVs all around for viewing of sporting events. A bar for drinks, a jukebox for music, so I'm sure at night it is a good time. Tried this place while out of town, and to be honest may have given it a 3.5 if it was an option. Good side: Quick service, Great Waitstaff (he was super friendly with everyone), Great deal with a pound of shrimp thrown in for free with two lbs of crab legs. Fun set up inside, decor, crab bibs, etc. We had the garlic butter with Old Bay on the side. Negative side: Lack of tools made it less enjoyable. Seems crackers were limited, and no small forks or picks. Plastic silverware didn't help so I had to leave the meat in the some of the legs behind because I just gave up. It really was challenging and for the price you pay, and for their specialty being crab legs (hence the name) I expect more. It was a disappointment. Would I go back? Maybe, if my son really wanted to. He had fun, but had the same challenges I did, so the work became doubly as frustrating for me. read more

It was 9:30 on a Friday, parents weekend at UF and no reservations. I went directly to Yelp for best late night restaurants in Gainesville and Mr & Mrs Crab was number 1. Fellow Yelpers, once again, you nailed it! Super fun, super casual place with great nautical décor. Once you enter, you know you're in for a seafood feast. We walked in and were immediately seated. The service was excellent. Hostesses were friendly and accommodating. Ken, our server, went above and beyond. We had never eaten seafood boil before and had no idea what it was. The menu is big with plenty of choices. We ordered a "Pick Your Own Boil" with shrimp, clams, calamari, and muscles boiled in spicy Mr & Mrs Crab sauce. Ken let us know that spicy is super spicy, so we toned it down to medium. Thankfully, we did as the medium was fire and fabulous! With every pound of seafood you get potatoes and corn. Couldn't figure out why we got gloves and a bib and then came a giant bag with the boil inside. So messy, so much fun and so out of this world good. Checked out Mr. and Mrs. Crab for dine in for the first time for an early evening dinner date with my bestie. I'm a seafood boil super fan so when this restaurant came to town, I was waiting on it! I've been to a number of similar spots and thought I'd give them a try! We got seated quickly which was great! We were quickly greeted by our server, given two ice cold waters and menus within two minutes of sitting. Gotta love great service! The prompt service didn't end at the server, but our order came out so fast. The special sauce is always my fave at seafood boil spots and they definitely have a great one. I ordered steamed oysters and they tasted great but temperature wise, felt like they were sitting for a bit but I won't deny how delicious they were. The good comes in a big aluminum foil pan, it's a free for all! You even wear a bib, I recommend the bib, you cannot eat this food daintily. They deliver crab crackers, scissors and forks to help you eat. Our food was full of flavor and delicious, really good for a large group or family. We sat for about 10 min before she came around, then another 10-15 after we ordered. She brought out our appetizer and my entree but not my boyfriend's - and no drinks for either of us?? We had to get up and look around for her after another 10 minutes. When she finally came back around to bring out the other entree, she ask if we needed anything. I said "our drinks?", and she looked perplexed and then realized we'd sat for 30 minutes with nothing to wash our food down with (we ordered a water and a lemonade mind you). Then she finally gets the drinks and proceeds to give my boyfriend a water with lemon instead of a lemonade like he'd ordered. The food was pretty good. We got fried shrimp, Cajun fries, hush puppies, and a seafood boil with crabs and mussels. The next issue came with trying to leave. We sat for another 15 - 20 minutes after finishing our food waiting for the server to bring a box and our check. Once again, we had to get up and look around for her. Finally, she comes back and asks us again if we need anything, so we had to remind her that we'd asked for a box and the check 20 minutes ago. I'd be more understanding if she had more tables to wait, but we were one of maybe 2 or 3 tables. Her name on the check said 'Liz'. I had been to the locations in Pinellas Park and in Ruskin but this was my first time visiting the location in Gainesville. I got my usual, which was the boil - Option C, with added boiled eggs. My boil consisted of snow crab legs, shrimp, a lobster tail, corn, potatoes, and boiled eggs. I always go with the Mr. and Mrs. Crab seasoning and I choose the Hot option. This meal was amazing. You can't get a better deal on elite seafood for under $35. I had a Cigar City Jai Alai to go along with my meal and it was good as well. I will definitely be back again. read more

Then we both chose the blue crab boil with Old Bay seasoning which included corn and red potatoes served in a huge plastic, air filled bag. We both completely enjoyed our meal. The prices were reasonable considering it was all fresh seafood. We chose non-alcoholic beverages with our meal. Our server was friendly & helpful without being "pesky". My first visit to Mr. & Mrs. Crab. First impressions, the music I notice was very very loud and I am not so much a fan of rap music. I asked the server if they could turn the music down. I had to ask a couple of times. I ordered the Alaskan Snow crabs in butter and garlic sauce, corn muffins which were greasy but okay. The sauce was very tasty and for the price of 1bl of crab legs, it's affordable. The server was super nice and I appreciated her asking me if everything was okay and few times. I believe I arrived at the restaurant's opening on a Friday so it was not very busy. Overall, it's an okay experience and I would have given them a higher rating except for the music. The staff at the front desk replied , "this is the staff thing on Fridays we love to jam out""" but the restaurant is for your customers not to satisfy the staff. Anyway, the crabs were good. Unfortunately, we didn't dine in the restaurant this visit, but if the to-go experience was good I can only imagine how well the dine in will go. My bf and I ordered 2lbs of seafood with the Create Your Own Combo option trying the shrimp (no head), scallops, mussels, and snow crab legs - all half pound orders. It was doused in the Mr. & Mrs. Crab Special sauce at a medium spice level is just *chef's kiss*. I highly recommend. You can mix it up however you'd like and the combo comes with corn and potato pieces. They provided all the necessary materials (bibs, gloves, wet naps) in our bag and it was ready within 15 min! This place is really nice. The ambience is well combined with the type of food that they serve. Service is average. The food is delicious. We ordered a Cajun platter with shrimps, crabs, mussels and clams. The lobster bisque was amazing. I was surprised with the flavor. We had to order again because the platter for six was too small. Our server knew that the tip was included and it was not as very diligent with us. Anyways, the reason for a 4 stars is not the service but the price. We spent an average of almost 60 bucks per person without the tip and we did not consume alcohol. read more
