It's downtown so parking can be hard to find during busy times. The service was perfect. Our waiter Kevin was super attentive and nice. He kept checking up on us to make sure our drinks were filled. The food was really flavorful and portions enormous. We could've easily shared one dish for 2 people. I gave leftovers for days. Overall highly recommend and a new dinner place to add to our list!

Reservation for 8 girls, had a few drinks at the bar before dinner. Happy hour was great! Sat right at reservation time with no problem. Matt took amazing care of us and was patient enough to take multiple pics! Food and drinks came out timely and everything was delicious! Highly recommend! All the staff was very polite and welcoming :)

This was my first time at Harry's in many many years. We attended a birthday celebration. When asked for drink, I attempted to try the espresso martini and it wasn't good. I ended up opting for something else. As for entree, I ordered the salmon and it was delicious however one of my sides (broccoli) was just okay. I feel like some of the items were hits and some were misses. The service was quick but I felt like the server lacked ability to connect with us so it was very much like I'm here to do a job. The ambiance had dim lighting and there were many people in the establishment too. I would go back but I think would choose very wisely on my food and drink options.

Blaine was a great server. The red fish was on point as I expected. The restaurant was packed with speedy service. A nice vibe in downtown Gainesville.

I went for a friend's birthday dinner and the service was efficient and great! I have been to Harry's in the past but never written a review and in the past I knew I wasn't a fan of their drinks so did not get any this time around. My friends said their drinks were just okay. I had the grouper fingers for an appetizer which was crispy, tasty, and l loved the tartar sauce. For my entree I had the chicken breast with the Parmesan Basel sauce (I had it on the side). The chicken was juicy and well seasoned and the sauce was good. It came with a grit cake which was good but rather small. The seasonal vegetable was a mix of squash, zucchini, carrots, and cucumber which was just okay. My husband had the shrimp etouffee which he said was delicious. The ambiance was chill dinner vibes. Great for families and catching up with friends.

Solid seafood restaurant in Gainesville. I stopped by for a quick dinner and was not disappointed. The crab claw appetizer was soft and flavorful. The portions of the entrees were very large as well. The redfish Royale and French baked scallops are both wonderful options.

Harry's was actually a pleasant surprise! I was a little nervous at first about it not being authentic enough or lacking flavor, but I was happy to be proven wrong at least for what I got. I had the crab cakes and mashed potatoes, and both were really good--super flavorful and definitely fulfilling. The interior is beautiful, giving it a nice upscale yet comfortable feel, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely be visiting again!

What a gem in downtown Gainesville! I absolutely loved the New Orleans vibe in this restaurant. Their menu had a variety of traditional dishes to offer. I really wanted to try their gumbo soup. This soup was delicious and was paired perfectly with the bread they serve as an appetizer. Our waiter was so nice and patient with us as we were in a group. I just adored this place.

If you're out and about...wondering what to eat and you've never tried Harry's...do yourself a favor and DO! Up until my recently (within the past 3 years =recently) developed allergy to both milk and shrimp, I went here religiously at least once every few weeks. My favorite thing was their fillet medallions and shrimp done "scampi style" with the side being a fried grit cake with the tasso ham cream sauce! Out of this world!!!! *insert chef kiss* Now? I was reluctant to go all the way to the middle of Gainesville and have to stand out in the cold, but as luck would have it, Gator game on-going and the place was BARE! We ordered our much awaited appetizers in anticipation of the deliciousness about to come our way...crispy calamari and their OUT OF THIS WORLD fried green tomatoes! So so so so good! Perfectly seasoned, slightly spicy with feta cheese sprinkled on them and such wonderful calamari paired with a dipping sauce like no other! Hubby got the jambalaya with pasta instead of rice and I opted for a charbroiled cheeseburger and fries (not next time--next time I'm getting a different side item!!). He of course, LOVED his jambalaya--it's what he ALWAYS gets (ho-hum) and for the first time ever, I was shocked at just how delicious and juicy (a place that specializes in other things--this never happens!) their cheeseburger was! Since becoming allergic to so many things, I've become somewhat of a burger connoisseur (reluctantly). Nowhere I've tried yet has come close to the fresh, delicious and perfect chargrilled flavor of this burger. NOWHERE. I'm definitely coming back for that flavor again! They have an extensive menu here...all sorts of wonderful things I can no longer enjoy, but I was beyond satisfied with my simple meal.

My second time at Harry's and it is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. I've had the blue crab claw appetizer and the fried green tomatoes and both are awesome! The drinks are fantastic (part of the reason the review is kind of short) and the shrimp and grits as well as the chicken pasta Louisianne are amazing. Don't miss Harry's when in Gainesville!

"Jambalicious" The food was rich in flavor and beautifully prepared. The calamari (not pictured) cooked to perfection--crispy, tender, and delicate. The stuffed shrimp was rich and buttery, with tender lump crab, and the broccoli on the side offered a well-balanced complement. The fried grouper had a perfectly crisp, golden crust with a tender interior. Excellent value for the quality. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with vintage brick walls, classic windows, and charming hanging plants. We sat in a cozy front-right corner booth, which offered a lovely view of the area. Our server, Rachel, was kind, attentive, and made the experience seamless. A delightful visit--highly recommended.

How long is the typical wait on a Friday night? I will be there Friday, the weekend of the August UF graduations. (General graduation is on Saturday). Any idea?

i would say call ahead for reservations, because usually on the weekends the wait can be around 1 hr, but since it's graduation weekend you can probably aim for that, if not more.

As it was summer break, a lot of the other businesses in the building were closed (Vietnamese and Italian restaurant as well as a boba place). The place looks like it was being run by a hardworking couple. We checked out the menu and my wife ordered the Gyro Platter and I ordered the Souvlaki Platter. We also ordered a couple of fountain drinks. The gyro meat was well seasoned and tender. The Greek salad was quite good. The chicken souvlaki, however, seemed to lack flavor and a bit dry. Portions were quite generous and the value was there. We actually packed our leftovers for some quesadillas later. If we do go back, I would order the gyro instead of the chicken souvlaki. NOTE: They don't validate parking which was $3 for an hour

Located in midtown, this appears to a fast casual place that caters towards college students. They serve "Greek" street food, salads, quesadillas, burgers, and more. The food is relatively inexpensive. Service is fine, actually the people working there are friendly. Food is made to order and comes out quickly. There is some seating available inside (it's limited) but there are plenty of tables in the hall. I ordered the Street Chicken Souvlaki which included grilled chicken with tomato, onion, fries inside a pita, topped with ketchup and mustard. This was a very large portion. The pita was good, but pretty much fell apart the second I picked it up. While I liked the chicken, it was over seasoned and I didn't care for the "sauced" quality of it. I'm not sure if they marinated it or tossed it in some sauce, but it was too much. The fries were decent, but not super crispy. I felt that they were not necessarily and a little over-the-top. The tomato was fresh and but the red onion slices were very thick. The mustard and ketchup didn't work with the seasonings on the chicken. The dish was just all over the place and I couldn't even finish half of it before I started feeling sick. I ordered a side of onion rings as well. This was a large order and the size was great. But these onion rings were over-battered and were fresh, but not crispy at all. I bit into one and ended up pulling out the whole onion rings. Not good. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience. The food was so heavy and overly salted I couldn't even eat half of it. I ended up giving it to a homeless person on the way out. The food left my stomach in shambles the rest of the day. Service is fine. But the food is not desirable. It is safe to say I will not be returning, which is unfortunate.

Our server was very nice and she answered all of our questions, of which we had many! We were able to sit outside on a nice spring morning before it got too hot. Needless to say this the Metro diner truly surpassed my expectations. We walked in and were greeted immediately and asked if we would like to sit outside which is a covered area or indoors. We chose inside given it being a hot humid day and wanting that extra comfort. The vibe felt amazing with all the smiles and yes even though busy all the wait staff was hopping doing their business! We were seated and told about the specials and given the menu. I was unsure what I wanted because I think I could have eaten a little bit of everything! I did ask the waitress a couple of suggestions and one of them was the pancakes I had chosen. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day! How cool is that and rare. They had a chicken and waffle special that was actually half a chicken ( pieces ) fried with Belgium waffles, powdered sugar and sweet strawberry butter served with their signature sweet and spicy sauce. I'll be honest when I had seen someone else get their plate I was surprised. It looked absolutely incredible and well tremendous. On their specials they had banana pudding pancakes or waffles, this also sounded amazing. It had walnuts, butter and powdered sugar and definitely banana. I am most certainly glad that I chose this as it was incredibly. Super fluffy, flavorful and the banana was not overwhelming there was a perfect balance of flavors. There was a sauce on them that I assume was the banana pudding. It was light and just enough to not overpower the pancake itself. We had also ordered croissant French toast and my son absolutely loved them. They were crispy on the outside yet fluffy and flavorful with a fantastic texture topped with some powdered sugar. Some ordered hash browns, these were also delicious and homemade with a great texture and the portion like all the other dishes pretty large. We had all tried the biscuits and gravy. These too were delicious with such a nice balance of flavors. The biscuits indeed homemade. We were all very pleased with everything. Some eggs over easy and bacon cooked perfectly. The coffee honestly the best I've had in years. I'm a coffee drinker and I cannot figure this coffee was outstanding! I had four cups and wish for more ha ha. Best of all I must compliment the service. I have not been to a restaurant of any sort with such attentive service, quality service as we received here in years. The waitress kept refilling my coffee and water, brought my son more soda ( even a container to take his home ) asked everyone if they needed anything at appropriate times and was extremely kind and considerate. I will be back and I highly recommend the Metro Diner for a great meal, quality service and relaxed environment that you will enjoy. Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. I encourage you to look past the construction mess and the "old wooden bar" stereotypes and trust me when o say, they take great pride on preparing high quality food.

The menu was pretty much standard bar fare I had fish and chips and my wife had Mac and cheese. The fries on my plate were covered in salt. I tried to shake it off and wound up with a layer of salt on my plate. Most restaurant food is too salty for me as I cook at home low salt but this was crazy. I decided to try the Mac and cheese. It also had a cap of salt on it. I tried to dig to the bottom of the crock thinking that wouldn't be salty but I was wrong. The dish was prepared with salt throughout. Time to go and I did complain. The waitress said she hears that a lot and she offered to replace our meal to go but we didn't take her up on that offer. The fish was great! And we loved the vibe of the restaurant inside and out.
