We went on a Saturday afternoon, street parking is free but good luck! There is a parking garage close by and some lots that you pay with an app a block or 2 away. We arrived around 4:30 and still had a 15 minute wait. We waited at the bar and fun fact, happy hour everyday from 2-7 and all day on Tuesdays! Signature cocktails are $8 and beers as low as $4. This place has great prices all around. It's got a nice dining vibe inside, dimly lit but lots of windows, it sits on a corner. We got shrimp and scallop Orleans, stuffed shrimp and blackened red fish. Everything was served hot and at the same time and all very good. We all got collard greens and they were excellent. The food was absolutely delicious. The she crab soup was very flavorful. The crabcakes were totally all crab with no fillers and my friend said the shrimp and grits was one of the best he's ever had is one of his favorite dishes. We also had banana crème brûlée for dessert to split, and it was very tasty. The service was very attentive, professional, and kind. We liked it because it wasn't loud. It's downtown so parking can be hard to find during busy times. The service was perfect. Our waiter Kevin was super attentive and nice. He kept checking up on us to make sure our drinks were filled. This was my first time at Harry's in many many years. We attended a birthday celebration. When asked for drink, I attempted to try the espresso martini and it wasn't good. I ended up opting for something else. As for entree, I ordered the salmon and it was delicious however one of my sides (broccoli) was just okay. I feel like some of the items were hits and some were misses. The service was quick but I felt like the server lacked ability to connect with us so it was very much like I'm here to do a job. I have been to Harry's in the past but never written a review and in the past I knew I wasn't a fan of their drinks so did not get any this time around. My friends said their drinks were just okay. I had the grouper fingers for an appetizer which was crispy, tasty, and l loved the tartar sauce. For my entree I had the chicken breast with the Parmesan Basel sauce (I had it on the side). The chicken was juicy and well seasoned and the sauce was good. It came with a grit cake which was good but rather small. The seasonal vegetable was a mix of squash, zucchini, carrots, and cucumber which was just okay. My husband had the shrimp etouffee which he said was delicious. The ambiance was chill dinner vibes. Up until my recently (within the past 3 years =recently) developed allergy to both milk and shrimp, I went here religiously at least once every few weeks. I was reluctant to go all the way to the middle of Gainesville and have to stand out in the cold, but as luck would have it, Gator game on-going and the place was BARE! We ordered our much awaited appetizers in anticipation of the deliciousness about to come our way...crispy calamari and their OUT OF THIS WORLD fried green tomatoes! So so so so good! Perfectly seasoned, slightly spicy with feta cheese sprinkled on them and such wonderful calamari paired with a dipping sauce like no other! Hubby got the jambalaya with pasta instead of rice and I opted for a charbroiled cheeseburger and fries (not next time--next time I'm getting a different side item!!). He of course, LOVED his jambalaya--it's what he ALWAYS gets (ho-hum) and for the first time ever, I was shocked at just how delicious and juicy (a place that specializes in other things--this never happens!) their cheeseburger was! Since becoming allergic to so many things, I've become somewhat of a burger connoisseur (reluctantly). Nowhere I've tried yet has come close to the fresh, delicious and perfect chargrilled flavor of this burger. NOWHERE. I'm definitely coming back for that flavor again! Probably one of the worst gumbos and jambalayas that I have had. When you take a bite and all you taste is tomato and no other distinctive flavor and you can't even tell if it is a piece of chicken, shrimp, sausage or any of the vegetables, it does not do any justice to true Cajun food. In town on our way to our winter destination, we decided to give Harry's a try. Two seats were available at the bar. The bar was crowded and the restaurant was busy so we didn't think too much of the bartenders slow response to our arrival. When he did acknowledge us he did not say a word other than to stand in front of us waiting for our drink order. We ordered our cocktails and asked if they serve dinner at the bar and he nodded yes and walked away. He delivered the drinks but once again never acknowledged us verbally. About 15 minutes later, he came back and stood in front of us. We suspect he wanted our food order but we were contemplating leaving at that point so just asked for the bill. Went to there during one of the busiest dinner time of the year. Was told to call 30 minutes before arriving to grant seats at the restaurant, well that didn't happen the line was busy all the time the hour before we intended to come. Anyway upon walk in we were told there are 1.45 hrs wait and plenty ppl were waiting. We chose to sit at the bar instead, and in no time got couple seats there as diners leaving. Our bartender was busy but pretty attentive, menu is awesome great selections! I got shrimp etoufee which is New Orleans favorite and I didn't disappointed! It tastes so good serves with rice. Plenty of drink menus and deserts as well. I chose a glass of Pinot Grigio and decided to skipped dessert. I almost tempted to order the key lime pie, though.
