We opted for the canyon view and so glad we did- beautiful views of the red rocks, trees and the flow of Oak Canyon waters lulling your senses. Surprisingly, it was quiet despite being in a busy area of town. The pool and hot tub are perfect to relax after a day of exploring. Two floors but accessible only by stairs and their website states you need to call if needing an accessible room. Easy check in process. Free parking. I recently stayed with my best friend at Cedars Resort for our first vacation since covid and I'll start by saying the property itself is beautiful!! The motel has a cute atmosphere, the pool area has a great view, and the location is great for exploring Sedona. Unfortunately, our check-in experience with Rudy completely overshadowed what could have been a wonderful stay. I booked through Booking.com believing I had reserved one room, and in my booking requests I asked if we could be placed either in a room with a view or near the pool. Booking.com confirmed this could be accommodated "at no extra cost." When we arrived, we were instead assigned the very first room directly off the busy downtown roundabout, which was the exact opposite of what we had hoped for. I understand that booking issues sometimes happen and that they aren't always the hotel's fault. What was disappointing was the way the situation was handled. Rather than showing any empathy or trying to work toward a solution, the front desk employee (Rudy) told me I could figure it out with booking or he'd be "thrilled to help me cancel my stay." Since Booking.com's customer service had already closed for the day--a fact he seemed to know--his suggestion essentially left us with two choices: cancel our reservation and drive hours all the way back home immediately or stay in the room we felt we had overpaid for. I wasn't expecting a free upgrade. I simply hoped for someone willing to help, explain our options, or make us feel like our concerns mattered. He threw in the option for me to pay again for the upgrade which I would've happily done from the start but by that point the interaction felt dismissive and unnecessarily confrontational. It's unfortunate because the property itself really is lovely, and we genuinely enjoyed the pool and the overall trip. With friendlier customer service, this easily could have been a five-star stay. read more

We had a two night stay and it was perfect location for us. It's right in the middle of Sedona and just down the street from uptown Sedona. There was plenty of near by activities and restaurants. We checked in really late on our first night, like nearly 1am due to a delayed flight. Their lobby is closed at 10pm but I called in advance and they placed my room info and key in a lockbox that only I could access. I had a really hard time finding where the lockbox was located and luckily they had a phone number with an employee working the night shift. He was really friendly and helpful. The room itself isn't the Ritz. The bathroom was so tiny. You could barely turn. Lol and the bath/shower could clearly use some upgrades. The beds were comfy enough and the room was spacious. The best part was the balcony view! It was beautiful to see some of the red rocks first thing in the morning. The price for two nights was incredibly reasonable compared to the other surrounding accommodations. I was a bit frustrated with their advertisement though. The Yelp page clearly says check in for a free night. When I originally called to book, I asked the gal on the phone about it and she had no idea. She told me to call back the following day when the manager was in, so I did. The manager had no idea what I was talking about either. She told me it was a Yelp promotion and that I would go through them. I'm not sure how that would work? Considering Yelp wasn't handling the reservations. When I checked out, I asked again and yet again, the gal behind the counter had no idea. This was frustrating. Loved our stay! Such a beautiful property overlooking the mountains and oak creek. They had a cute little private trail down to the creek that was nice to have. It was very affordable and convenient for the location. They have a pool and hot tub outside. It is walking distance from most of downtown Sedona. We were able to walk to dinner at Hideaway House and Creekside as well as walking to the village shops at Tlaquepaque. It was a bit noisy at night because it is on the main road so we could hear people walking by our door which was a little unsettling. Parking was right outside, super convenient. When I went to checkout in the morning, there was no one there so I had to leave my room key at the desk. Would definitely recommend this hotel! read more

My wife and I decided to take some time for ourselves on Thanksgiving after our only child (Son) was killed in a motorcycle accident in March. We had a nice time. The stay was okay, rooms rough around the edges, hot water ran out, no continental breakfast, staff was okay. I turned in my keycards and got a bye from the person at the desk. Rooms were loud from other guest, AC was louder. I don't think we will stay there again when we go back for the jeep tours. The view from the room was the highlight of the stay at the resort. Made my first solo visit to Sedona for 4 nights and had done a bit of research. Wasn't familiar with the area but decided on this spot due to the reviews on the views from the balcony and the decent rates of when I was coming (12/1-12/5). So happy with my decision!!! The room itself is pretty standard, comfy bed, fridge, Keurig, etc but the canyon views are absolutely beautiful. Plus you are adjacent to Oak Creek, what a soothing thing to hear laying in your bed. Plus you are in walking distance to Uptown and Tlaquepaque Arts Village. And the staff is friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again! read more

This place has a lot of charm! Super cute rooms and very private with a GORGEOUS view. There's a river below, we walked the steep path and enjoyed our morning coffee down there. Great location- close to everything in city center, free parking a plus! I would love to give 5 stars, but a couple things were annoying. We arrived early 3/25/19 at 2:30- the front desk lady rudely said check in isn't until 4:00. We came back at 4:00, and the front desk was swamped and a different lady mentioned it's busy because everyone checks in at the same time. I feel this could be avoided if you allow ppl to check in earlier than 4:00. Maybe hire another room service to ensure the rooms are ready? Just seems odd at 230 rooms aren't ready and two ppl sitting at the desk. At 400 only one lady. Second annoyance- my husband used the bathroom when we arrived. We had the fan running because it was necessary. We got a phone call from the front desk asking us to turn our fan off because the people next to us could hear the vibrating against the wall. We asked if we could poo in their room then, but I guess that's it an option. Lol. Sounds like a "they" problem, not a "us" problem. Pros Our hotel room's view was fantastic, so beautiful. Our bed was also very comfy. We enjoyed the pool, again for the view. Our brief interaction with the housekeepers was our best experience with any of the staff. Cons The people working the front desk were standoffish and unfriendly. Almost seemed like we were inconveniencing them. Both lobby crew members didn't seem like they wanted to be there or help at all. The in room amenities are awful... A/C blew dust chunks at us our whole stay, mentioned it to the front desk and asked for new bedding considering it was covered in dust, didn't mention fixing the issue. The Small refrigerator in room didn't close properly, also the room acoustics are poor as you can hear other guests showering & watching TV. Is this a 5 star resort? No, nor is it priced as one, and there is no additional "Resort Fee." However, the Cedars Resort is everything it should be for the price I paid. Despite some previews reviews, the office staff (Taylor and Alex) were extremely polite and helpful. The hotel is located right where Hwy's 179 and 89A meet, a perfect location. Walkable to the uptown area as well as to Tlaquepaque. The room was clean and comfortable, with a breathtaking view of the red rocks from our balcony. They have a "77 step stairway" down to the creek with a nice paved area with chairs and a picnic table to escape to enjoy the creek. They have a small pool and hot tub, which we used. We were very pleased and will return on our next trip to Sedona. read more

Stayed here for the weekend to attend a wedding at L'Auberge, which was walking distance-the property next to it. It was a decent motel with popcorn ceilings that we would not label a resort. Thank goodness they didn't charge any "resort" fees lol! Clean, good location, enough parking, basically provided what we needed which was a close place to stay, sleep & shower. It was the cheapest place we could find that was near the wedding venue at $400/night with military discount. The staff was nice and helped to replace the iron (that had black marks on the steel that almost ruined our clothes) for another. Be aware though that they "suspended housekeeping services due to Covid" so if you need anything you'd have to call the front desk. Overall, it's a decent place to stay, the best part being the beautiful views of red mountains from the private balcony & the sound of the creek below. Would we go back and stay here again? Only if miraculously (we live several hours away and hardly know anyone that lives in Arizona), we HAD to attend another wedding at L'Auberge. Period. read more

I've stayed here a few times while visiting Sedona. I like it because it is centrally located and a short distance to many tourist spots. Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village is just down the road. If you are hungry, one of my favorite places to eat is the Hideaway House. It is next door to Cedars Resort and you can walk to it. Creekside Coffee is right there too. If you get one of the rooms with a balcony, you can wake up to the beautiful red Sedona mountains in the morning. This hotel overlooks Oak Creek and you can take a stroll on the walking trail next to it. I love the pool and hot tub. It's relaxing and you get great views of the mountains as well. The price is usually pretty affordable at Cedars and the staff is friendly. read more

Rooms were clean and the beds are comfortable. Woke up in the morning of 2/25 to find there's no hot water for a shower. Not a huge deal. I called the front desk to appraise them of the situation and said they'd call me back. After a few minutes we received a call from the front desk stating that we'll have hot water in 10. I asked for a later checkout and was refused. Twenty minutes later I was forced to take a cold shower. I went to the front desk to let them know that the hot water situation was not fixed and the young woman at the desk simply stated "ok." I explained that it was far from ok since I had a cold shower. She proceeded to tell that "it's all about how you talk to people." As if the hot water and later checkout was held back because I was upset. Sure, there are probably "better" places to stay (and more expensive) in Sedona, but for everything we got at Cedar's + the epic views from our balcony, we would stay again in the future! Because it was busy season, we could not check in until 4pm BUT we filled our day with hiking, lunch at a brewery, exploring the property, and laying by the pool. When our room was ready, a staff member came to the pool and got us! The room was very clean and the views from the balcony were stunning. We slept with the sliding door open and could hear the rushing water of the creek, it was very peaceful. The bed was super comfy as well! Our family takes a yearly trip to Arizona right before Christmas. Our routine consists of Cottonwood (Old Town), followed by Sedona. My wife found this place through Priceline and we enjoyed our stay. We stayed for one night and as many hotels as I've stayed at, I would rate this place in the top 10. Now for starters, sure, the rooms are dated, but it was clean. I really am not Mr. Fancy Pants, but my wife did mention that she was not a total fan of the sheets and pillows. I on the other hand, can sleep anywhere as long as my head is resting on something so I won't go there, in other words, wrong guy to talk about the bed, sheets, pillows, etc... The reception folks were nice. I've seen some on here where they were rude, but from our experience, they were great. We got in, checked-in, gave us our keys and went on our way. Our room was nice. We were on the first floor, but the view was spectacular. We had the best view in Sedona (in my humble opinion of course). We stayed in Room 104, and the placement of the room was perfect because you could hear the river. I woke up at 4:30AM, to watch the sunrise. I'll see if I can attach the video after I write this. Overall, we are definitely coming back to this place. As a matter of fact, I've already told my brother and friends that we need to come back here. In conclusion, if you are looking for a 'boujie' place where cotton thread counts are important, this is not the place. If you are about affordable pricing, great views, and a place to enjoy the beautiful sights of Sedona, no other place even comes close. Oh, and I just remembered, this place will not have your super high def 56" television. We had a small flat screen TV, but who wants to watch TV when you turn your head to the right, the best HDTV you'll ever need is right in front of you. The desk staff was friendly and obliged me with an early check in. The location is walking distance to Tlaquepaque shopping village which I love. First time staying at Cedars Resort. We made sure to reserve a second floor room overlooking Oak Creek. Rates weren't too bad for Memorial Day weekend, but we booked in advance through Expedia. The room itself is nice and clean, but as others said, it is a little dated. King size bed with 4 big pillows. Vizio flat screen tv and mini fridge in room along with coffee maker. Bathroom is a bit small and gets steamy quick so had to leave the door open or else it turned into a sauna . The view is from the private balcony amazing of oak creek and you can hear the water running. The resort has complimentary WiFi, a gym, pool and hot tub too. Would recommended staying here if you want to be close to town and within walking distance of shops and food. read more

Overall we had a nice stay here. I knew going in that we were paying for the view and boy was it worth it!! We had a room on the end overlooking the creek and it was so quiet and nice! The only staff interaction we had was checking in and he was nice and friendly! Like others have mentioned yes the rooms are outdated but they are spacious. The tub and toilet room is small if you need privacy to close the door. Our only cons are the bed was terribly uncomfortable for both my husband and myself and the resort is kind of awkwardly located near the uptown roundabout which gets very traffic heavy. Parking was never an issue and it was a quick 5 min walk to shops and restaurants in uptown. We also enjoyed the quaint courtyard they have with chess and we enjoyed the jacuzzi as well. read more

We just left the resort this morning after 4 days. We loved everything about the resort. The rooms are very clean, beds and pillows are comfy, pool area is clean and quiet, all of the staff were so warm and friendly! They even rescued my shirt that blew off the balcony into a tree for me. The hotel is so close to all of the shops and restaurants. It's a nice walk to get to anything you want. Love this place. My family and I came here for the first time last Labor Day weekend. It is quiet with a scenic view, yet somehow still close to everything else in Sedona. Watching the stars and sunrise from my balcony out there in the desert was almost ethereal. The pool and spa is so relaxing, especially at night. Reasonably priced and the staff is also very friendly and easy to converse with. My family has already come back twice since Labor Day (since they live in Phoenix; I am out-of-state), but we are all coming back Memorial Day weekend. No surprise there, we talked to plenty of other guests who say they come back regularly themselves. My hat off to all of the staff. My family and I stayed here last night in 2 rooms. We settled in with the hope of getting a good rest and sleeping in. However, the alarm clock in both rooms rang at 6am and woke us up from a dead sleep (apparently housekeeping forgot to un-set the alarm from the previous guests). Mistakes happen, but in 2 rooms? The whole point of any resort/motel/inn is to provide a restful night to its guests, which definitely did not happen. I was not able to fall back asleep after the sudden early awakening, so I've been half asleep all day. Would not recommend this place. *UPDATE - another ding for the business manager blaming the guest in her reply for not checking the alarm clock. This is the responsibility of the establishment, full stop. read more

Hi just to update, after seeing the response to my complaints a year later, I can safely say I do not regret posting a horrible review. As a business, you have a responsibility to provide a clean, safe space for your customers. I did not get upset about not having a view, I was upset by the very obvious lack of sanitation in my room. It is one thing to not wipe surfaces sufficiently, but it is another thing entirely to not change sheets and then blame that on the customer. That is a major health hazard. I got a room here because it was the cheapest available room, by far, and I didn't expect much. In fact, when I checked in I asked for a room with a view regardless of comfort and was told that most of the rooms have a view and that they are all comfortable. Well, guess what? Truth came from this check-in man's mouth! The room is GREAT and the view out of my balcony is SPECTACULAR! I have listened to everyone complain, at the conference I'm attending, about their rooms, but I have only complements regarding my abode and a significantly reduced financial imprint in my life. It is a motel-ish type setup with individual doors that open to the crisp Sedona air, so there's direct contact with the environment and no filter of a lobby with a bunch of people you don't know hanging out. I like this, personally, and enjoyed the quiet and the central nature of its location (it's right in the middle of everything). There is also a rushing stream at the bottom of the micro-canyon outside my balcony and it emits the most soothing sounds of water against rocks. This is the sound that those white noise generators are trying to capture but fail miserably. It is the most sublime sound and it made my 6 hours of sleep seem like I got 10! I could not be more pleased and the report of bed bugs never happened according to the people here. That was a malicious competitor who nobody at Yelp ever checked out and I guess there's a lot of that happening on Yelp here in Sedona. We stayed on a Sunday night in June. The room was not very modern but it was clean and comfortable. There was a full sized couch and 2 queens in our room that had a balcony. The front desk clerk was very friendly and pleasant. The location is just a 5-10 minute walk from the center of town and the walk is very scenic. I paid at a minimum, $50 less for this room because it was not in the center of downtown Sedona which was well worth the night time stroll. I would stay here again if in Sedona again. read more

IF YOU BOOK A ROOM WITH THIS HOTEL, BE WARY: THEIR MANAGEMENT IS HORRIBLE. I've never dealt with such a dismissive, inconsiderate staff. I had a week-long vacation in the southwest planned, and I booked *one night* with Cedar's Resort. The day before I was supposed to leave, my grandmother passed away. I almost immediately started canceling my reservations so I could go home and be with my family, and out of all the hotels, flights, and car reservations I had to cancel, this was the ONLY place that wouldn't refused to let me cancel for free--the manager wouldn't even speak to me. I spoke to a front desk associate 3 or 4 times, and each time they told me they couldn't approve a refund without the manager's approval, but the manager was on vacation or hadn't come in yet, or something evasive like that. I left my name and number with the front desk, I left voicemails with the manager, Hotels.com sent them an email, I sent them an email, and despite all of this, the manager never bothered to call or respond. The last time I called, I found out that the manager had left a NOTE with the front desk saying that I would be charged the full amount of my 1-night stay. It was one night, and it was less than $200. I even emailed them my grandmother's obituary and the name of the hospital. I was shocked by how vague and uncaring the staff was in response to my emergency and my resquests to speak to a manager, and I thought it was totally abhorrent that the manager wouldn't even give me a few minutes of his/her time. There are so many beautiful, affordable hotels and resorts in the area, I HIGHLY recommend staying somewhere else. As bad as my experience with their customer service over the phone and email was, I would hate to get stuck finding out how horrible it is during an actual stay. ****I ADDED PHOTOS TO MY REVIEW, IN RESPONSE TO THE COMMENT FROM "MANAGEMENT", to prove that I did email the hotel when they suggested it, and to show how many times I called. Wish I could leave zero stars. Terrible service. We booked a room with a "Mountain View", however received the view of a large tree directly in front of our patio (room 111). When brought to managements attention, there was nothing they could do about the rate, the tree, the location of our room (several options to rectify, all which were refused by the lovely front office staff). We had 3 people in our party and an outdated, funky smelling room with 2 queen beds that had 2 shower towels. Even though we were charged an additional $10 for the 3rd guest, we were expected to share the shower towels. When I went to the front desk to ask for a 3rd, I was lucky enough to also get the attitude of the front desk girl (third personality I encountered from her in the 2 hours since check in) and had to wait 20 minutes while she collected extra towels. If you have any other options....stay there. This place is what I imagine a Motel 6 experience would be. Also note, I tried to speak to the manager the morning of check out as well as sent an email and left a voicemail with no return contact.
