If I am not mistaken they use Al fakher so the answer would be no but I could be wrong

Most of the restaurant in that area (also other areas with In NJ and NYC such as Bay ridge, astoria, Brighton beach .. etc.) charges gratuity regardless of how many people are in your party, I think patrons of these establishment come from regions… Read more

I came from New York on a day trip and stumbled upon a true gem. I never had Lebanese food before and I am so glad I came here. I was treated like an actual princess. Food was so flavorful , delicious, full of love and flavors!!! The falafel was crunchy and so so so so good. Everything on the table was fresh!!! Simon would come to my table and give me free samples of their desserts. I was just so overjoyed with the whole experience! I couldn't leave without buying hummus and a seven bean salad as well as some cookies. The restaurant was beautiful and filled with life and colors. Translated from the Turkish language, meaning sultan, we have come to this family-owned/family-run establishment located on Hackensack Street since 2006 for Saturday dinner. The reservation was easily made by Google Assistant. Upon entering this hidden gem called Hünkar Restaurant as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the staff inside a cozy room, where ethnic pictures and decorations as well as the music all add to the vibe. A great view of the NYC skyline is visible from their enclosed back patio. Their menu features Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with a modern twist and serves alcohol. As an appetizer, we decided on the Kibbeh (Icli Kofte), Calamari (Kalamar), and Cigarette Borek (Sigara Boregi). For our main meal, we opted for Chicken Saute (Taouk Sote), Shrimp Kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab (Kuzu Sis Kebab), and Chicken Shish Kebab (Tavuk Kebab). All Kebab meal accompanied by rice, char-grilled tomatoes, peppers, and a small salad. Warm, fluffy pida bread with a crisp crust started our meal. Every dish bursts with authentic flavor and is beautifully presented, from the fact that Turkish families from all over the area eat here. For entree we ordered the Mix Grill and Karisik Izgara as it was a perfectly sharable dish for two and we got to try 5 of their kebabs that are lamb shish, ground lamb, chicken shish, ground chicken and grilled meat patties. Both ground kebabs were excellent, full of flavors. The shish and patties were also good. We got the margarita pizza too, but that one was disappointed, seemed like some sauce was just thrown on top of the cheese and wasn't baked long enough. Our server was really friendly. But if, say, the person who placed the order sent you to pick up the food with the wrong order number, you're going to struggle, and that's not the restaurant's fault. With that prelude and without getting into the details, we'll just say there was a user error issue with my order that led to a mix-up and a very late pick-up. Everyone from the Al Basha staff with whom I interacted could not have handled it any better. They were very apologetic, not because they did anything wrong (to be clear, they didn't), but because they were disappointed our meal hadn't gone well and wanted to fix that. The top priority of the manager with whom I dealt was making sure that my wife--it was Mothers' Day--got the best meal possible, and made sure to send me home with fresh bread and a treat for the moms. We had an incredible spread, but let's talk about that Signature Mint Lemonade first. It's iconic for a reason, bright green, perfectly frozen/blended, and so refreshing that it balances out the rich meal perfectly. We ordered the Falafel Platter, and you can tell they do it the right way here. The falafel was crispy on the outside, light and green on the inside, and not oily at all. When you pair it with their Hummus (which is hands down the creamiest I've ever had, especially with the warm meat and pine nuts on top), it's perfection. The Mix Mashawi (grill platter) was also fantastic, tender lamb and chicken that actually tasted like they came off a real charcoal grill.
