I spent time here visiting someone close to me and had a positive experience. The staff were welcoming and seemed to know the residents well, which always makes a difference. Another place that is rated 5 star by Medicare and you have to wonder how do they get these ratings. I needed PT really bad, my initial assessment from PT was several days after I moved in then I never saw anybody else for about two weeks, when I went down there to inquire as to why I was told their records show OT has seen me everyday. I filed a complaint with Medicare for fraud investigation. I was also shocked how little equipment they had, I was told their other facility had all the equipment, so we had to wait in line and there were some severely disabled people there. Absenteeism was a big problem which resulted in over an hour response time minimum, one of my CNAs spoke no English at all I would ask her to do something she would nod, leave and I would never see her again, it got to be where I would yell "don't act like you understand me when you don't!" Finally I went down to the nurse's desk to complain and the whole staff came out to gang up on me, how dare I complain about someone who speaks no English, the nurse finally told me that I am receiving good care and I should be happy to receive the care I'm getting. I complained to the administrator and got an apology, after that when I asked that CNA for something she'd bring in somebody else to interpret (a waste of staff don't you think?). My roommate contracted COVID and they wound up quarantine us both no medicine. I asked the doctor for something like paxlovid any kind of prescription, he turned around and walked out. Was it effective no they wound up quarantine the whole Wing. All the physical progress I made with my PT over the weeks went right out the window and I had to start over again. This used up the time to get covered by Medicare which I felt they should cover as they didn't properly treat me. Speaking of the doctor he played footloose with my medication (they just can't leave it alone), when I showed my PCP what he did, he was livid why go to the trouble of assigning and tweaking medicine only to have somebody change them willy nilly without consulting as to why? I consider that arrogant! I had a talk with the dietitian and was assured everyone was getting their nutritional needs considered only to find out all the patients got cheap sugary Kool aid to drink Food was horrible I lived on sandwiches and take out Good luck getting somebody to answer the phone. No I will not go back. read more

My family member is receiving rehabilitation care. He has received physical therapy with a goal of strengthening core and also working on his breathing. He is 68 years old and has congenital heart failure. The quality of care is satisfactory. His only major concern is the room temperature is very cold. However, he has a tendency to keep his room door closed and it doesn't allow the air to circulate properly. The staff is friendly. There are no bad smells in the facility when I visit. read more

I stayed at Cedarwood Post Acute for two months this summer for rehabilitation after undergoing brain surgery. The rooms are small and barely have enough room for patients' wheelchairs, bedside commodes, etc. Bathrooms are shared in between 2 rooms, often with mixed gender use. One shower room is available for all 50 patients and only offered twice a week. Most of the rooms are freezing cold or hot. Summer afternoons over 100 were unbearable. My window was right next to the smoking area and cigarette smoke would frequently blow in. I had a small but deep wound on my arm. A wound nurse recommended redressing every 2 days but most of the time, it only got attention every 7-14 days. It did not get infected. That said, I believe I got an ear infection due to lack of changing pillow cases the first 4 weeks, despite a promise of changing all linens at least once a week. I often didn't bother asking because most CNAs left me up in my wheelchair hours longer than I felt comfortable. Most AM and PM CNAs told me they had 10-15 patients most days. The administrator confidently advised me they had 8 patients for AM and PM shifts. Often when I would pull the call light, they would take forever to come in (30-60 minutes+) and take forever to come back if you asked for a second task, including bringing ice water to a profusely hot room. One CNA in particular switched pitchers and I only knew because my neighbor had been drinking juice and my fresh water had a faint taste of cranberry. After patient care, beds are left high off the ground, leaving more risk for patient falls, especially for those with air mattresses. CNAs rarely respect privacy and will often leave curtains, windows and doors open, even in the most intimate care situations. Call lights are old fashioned, i.e. they are strings hanging behind patient beds and may be difficult for patients with weak arms/hands. Personally my call light stopped working 3 times in 2 months. They gave me a bell, which I knocked over too many times and many CNAs could not easily identify which room needed attention. Nurses (RNs and LVNs) were experts in ignoring patients when approached at the nurses station. When passing the meds they would often wake patients up and shove medicine in their face without explaining what they were taking and why. Nurses also didn't ask if pills needed to be crushed and didn't give patients the option to refuse any medications before mixing them in with others, sometimes creating waste. Some nurses left pills unattended when I was out of the room and others when I was asleep. Some of the nurses went by bed number instead of name, which would create confusion collecting blood glucose levels for diabetic patients. I didn't take pain medication except when my ear became infected. The pain was so excruciating it would put me in tears but nurses usually would take an hour or more to bring me Tylenol and refuse if I asked just 30 minutes early. They also didn't tell me the amount of Tylenol I was taking. The NP who prescribed my oral antibiotic would start and stop the rx. When it didn't work after ten days, I was forced to go the hospital for ear drops. It took more than 3 weeks to clear the infection. During the infection I couldn't make progress in my rehab and social services kept threatening to unsafely discharge me for plateauing despite the medical reason. The food was awful, barely edible. I only maintained my weight thanks to delivery services. Half of my clothes were lost in the laundry. Nurses lost some meds I had approved and brought personally from home. As for rehab, I felt like I was set up to fail. Durable medical equipment was only usable to ambulatory patients and required everyone else to use hoyer lifts. I had to purchase my own equipment or bring it from home to practice on. The physical therapist was best at lecturing me on the nervous system instead of letting me build my strength. She also went abroad for a month and left a single PTA to help all rehab patients. Occupational therapy was much better staffed and often exceptional at finding suitable exercises and improving my strength and function. Extra props to Mike and Valerie for your work with me. That said, I understand that Medicare is supposed to pay for 30 min to 45 min of PT and OT separately per day, 5 days a week. I begged for more time, but most of my sessions were 30-45 minutes of combined PT/OT, with the excuse of understaffing. PT/OT also wasted a lot of time watching me transfer from bed to wheelchair and basic ADLs. I do not recommend this SNF but I am grateful to the staff who made it bearable. Thank you to Baba, especially for the wound care and the positive attitude every day. Thank you to the CNAs Mira, Alisha, Alexis, and Danielle for going above and beyond in your care. Start with nursing staff, 95% were kind, professional and helpful, very friendly if you give the mutual respect you'd like to receive and takes a lil while to get to know each one's personality and medication passing routines. Overall very satisfied. A key to the nurse's success is the " CNA's " or assistants that help maintain your comfort and help with things from personal errands within, linen, bathing etc, to helping reach your wardrobe and or gown dressing. Some major turnovers in that department were underway after a near 90 day stay and it was noticeable, and that's exactly what needed to happen, rid the place of negativity and trading time for dollars, to bring in fresh school trained graduates hungry to make their mark and veterans leading the way to ensure their success, I did see this happening, Now Segway in here to management I.E. administrator, down to the ladder, and use your chain of command ( open door policy). Don't be afraid to speak up if something's are bothering you or a serious concern as they will listen and will take action. If you have a issue, it WILL be addressed. The administrator himself along with partner, high ranking associate were there for me going above my expectations on personal matters, securing safety for appointments, roommates, and on outside the facility, and on my exit I had a excellent experience with the direct help from the Hospitals top brass and head of operations. I have a surgery upcoming and their plan through saving PT days ( insurance companies man...) along with my long time PCP I was not denied a thing, and I hope I get that help to come back and finish my rehabilitation at CEDARWOOD Post - Acute once surgery is completed in a few days now. 5 stars for top brass in my experience there. PT, The head of physical therapy is the best I've worked with, and I've been through 5 locations in last 7 years, no one better. That's why I HAVE to get back there!! Dietitian was amazing in building a menu especially for my issues, near no sodium and replacement meals ( egg salad, tuna , fresh turkey wraps ) that helped debilitating arthritis almost near 85% so 5 stars to Dietitian, PT, OT, Top management. A new Social Services individual was brought in the last there and did more for me in a week than the predecessor to the position. Of course nothing is perfect anywhere you stay in a hospital setting, yet CEDARWOOD did do their job well . I do recommend this facility highly!! In staying with my integrity, the only negative thing were the obnoxious smokers hassling the staff on , stealing their valuable time to deal with a door leading to the smoking section. Different really really kind people caring people and I am so surprised I'm so pleased I just I don't know what to say I had no I just didn't know what it's expect And I'm so thrilled I just talked to Brennan who is the administrator this guy wants us this place to be the best of them and he's gonna do everything who can to make it possible and um when you got people like that at the top do you need anything else. This location is fantastic. After three weeks of treatment, they were able to get my mother healthy enough to go home. Everyone I came into contact with--cleaners, nurses, kitchen servers, physical therapists, and the dietician--cared and were highly skilled. Before selecting a facility, I looked around a lot of different sites, and this was the only one that didn't smell like feces or urine. It's a spotless, well-kept, and upbeat location. read more

Due to some weaknesses and health difficulties, my aunt required rehab. We were impressed by the Cedarwood Post Acute staff's warmth and politeness. We noticed the same thing with the woman who shared the room with her: the staff always treated her with respect as well. My aunt reported that the meals tasted great and were diverse and appetizing to look at. They paid close attention to my aunt's stated preferences. The therapists, CNAs, and nurses consulted with my aunt and collaborated with her to help her reach her recovery objectives. With all the excellent care she received, my aunt, who arrived at the institution in a wheelchair, was thankfully able to leave the building by walking out independently. read more

they are a bunch of thieves . my grandfather was recently in this facility and someone called talking about signing over his finances and let's keep in mind my grand father is basically blind and has dementia. I said no we won't be signing over anything and next thing you know the following month when he's home . someone changed his direct deposit illegally and without our consent and I left voicemails for someone to call me back to Clarify why they pulled some illegal B.S and still no response . Do not put your love ones in here. Someone told me they were money hungry but I didn't believe that . please please be careful going here . I would not recommend and I'm also reporting them to the board . read more
