Had service with Sprint for 20 years and now they not only merged with T-Mobile, but I got a note that they won't support my phone, or 3G or less, after Jan 1 2022. Leary about future service in my rural area with T-Mobile and their recent hack issue, I decided to check the Verizon store in town. 4G, 5G, I-phone, android... not sure what I wanted and the cost... oye vey! Talked to Drew, who started to steer me to the Samsung 4g because I'm not a big user. But I considered the future and if 3G was somewhat on the outs, I didn't want to spend a lot on a phone and risk having it go by the wayside in a few years. So I ended up with a Samsung Galaxy 5G. I also got lucky. The I-phone doesn't come with a charger (for that cost, you've got to be kidding me!), but the Galaxy did and now I hear that Samsung is also discontinuing adding the charger. Worst part was the call wait for customer service to finish the setup. Drew had 2-3 devices on hold waiting for a rep. to pick up. He needed more info from me that I didn't have, so I ran home quick, got it and came back, only to find he was still on hold. Finally got a rep and things set up. Spent over an hour on hold, which is inexcusable and Drew wasn't happy about it, but kept his calm and in the end it worked out for me having to run home to get the extra info. This was the first time I'd dealt with getting a phone and Drew was great getting me through it. I spent a couple days figuring out workings on the new phone but I'm getting better. Hopefully this one will last for a long time.
