I spoke with someone who turned out to be the sales manager and we discussed the size of the bus I needed and for the 8-10 hours. I had a specific budget in mind and they came in under that figure so it was a fair price (specifically in comparison to other companies I called). I wrote down the quote and the guys name and called back a couple weeks later to book. The woman on the phone did not quote me the same price so I told her to speak to her manager who gave me the specific quote. He said he would honor it, I gave them some general info about the pickups and dropoffs for the wedding day and put a 50% deposit down. A week before the wedding I hadn't heard from them about the final payment so I called and made it myself. No biggie, but I figured they'd call me to confirm things for the wedding, so that was a bit eyebrow raising. Fast forward to our wedding day and the bus was on time and the driver was initially courteous. We were expecting some hotel-type 23-person shuttle bus and low and behold the thing that pulled up was a really nice swank limo party bus with flat screens, mini bar (no alcohol but bottled water) and a bumpin' sound system that we cranked up. The whole wedding party was very excited that we got this bus. The wedding party loaded with the photographer and videographer and we went on our way to take pics in the city before the ceremony. The bus driver knew his way around and got us to the first couple spots in no time. We decided to take some pics around S. Michigan Ave., specifically by the giant bronze legs/feet statues and the area around that. The bus dropped us off and the driver said he'd be back in a couple minutes. We take our pics and the bus is nowhere to be found. We decide to take some more shots and my wife and I venture off with the photographer to take some other interesting shots. No bus. I call him - no answer. We take more pics. I call him. No answer. We were on a strict schedule to get back to the hotel in time to freshen up before taking the bus to the ceremony site and the driver just disappeared for 45 minutes. He finally picked up his phone and said he'd be there in a minute. 10 mins later he arrived. We go to one more spot and then luckily get back to the hotel on time. After this episode things got back on schedule. The bus was waiting for the wedding party at the hotel and we took off to the ceremony site and told him to come back once more to get the other group of hotel folks. On his way back he was a bit late but we're not sure if it was his faulty (he took a circuitious route to the ceremony - my route was faster) or people were straggling behind at the hotel. Anyway, everything is good and after the ceremony is over he takes people from the ceremony site 3 blocks away to the reception site. At some point before dropping us off the reception I talk to him about the schedule for the rest of the night. I tell him to be back around 11 to take folks to the hotel and then last trip is at midnight back to the hotel for my wife and I and friends and family coming back to hang at our suite. He says he's off the clock at midnight but he'll wait and take a group back right at that time if we take care of him. This is my wedding night and I don't need to hear that. 20% gratuity is included in the contract and for him to take a couple extra mins to take the last group back is standard procedure. I don't need to hear that I should take care of him (i.e. an extra tip) for doing something standard is his profession. I forgot to mention that earlier in the day he asked for my driver's license and the credit card I used as he need to make an imprint. I hate doing this even when the pizza guy comes because I think it is unnecessary and makes me wary security wise. However, this is done enough that I know some business need to do this when you pay by credit card over the phone. Anyway, he sticks around and drops us at the hotel about 12:15. I'm waling out of the bus and he's waiting there for me with a "tip me" face. I say thank you and head to the hotel door. He flags me down and hands me my credit card and license (I totally forgot he had this all day!) and gives me a look like "c'mon buddy where's my tip". I say thank you and walk away with my wife. The look on his face was priceless but he should no better. I don't appreciate him asking for more money and then giving me these looks. All in all Empire was not that bad but I'd definitely shop around some more next time. I made the mistake of not reading Yelp reviews beforehand, which might have swayed me away from Emprie. I'm lucky things worked out for the most part.

We live in Chicago and it was hard to research/contact hotels and vendors in Puerto Vallarta. We knew that we didn't want the typical hotel package for our wedding (and we definitely didn't want to pay the typical tourist rates!!), so we needed some help from someone on the ground in Mexico. Lucky for us, we came across the opportunity to work with Jeniffer and Rebeca at The Event Mexico - they were absolutely wonderful!! Most importantly, they helped us create our perfect wedding while staying well within our budget. They negotiated incredible rates for us with the hotel and all the vendors - we would not have been able to afford our wedding without their local knowledge, contacts, and negotiation skills. A lot of hotels have an onsite wedding coordinator for destination weddings, however those coordinators are often unable or unwilling to customize the wedding details. They usually offer a couple of packages depending on what you can afford, but they don't work with you to pick out your perfect centerpieces, flowers, dance floor, rehearsal dinner set-up, etc. Jen and Rebeca took care of ALL of this and more. We got everything we wanted on a very limited budget. Another reason I loved working with Jen and Rebeca was the rehearsal dinner. At our rehearsal dinner, many of our guests asked me "how is the wedding going to be better than this??" We had a BBQ on the beach with miami style lounge sofas, lantern lighting, and latin lounge music playing in the background. It was such a great party and precursor to our wedding, which of course exceeded everyone's expectations. I can't say enough about how amazing our wedding was. So many of our friends and family are still talking about it (6 months later...). Everyone said it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. For all of this and much more, we are forever grateful to Jen and Rebeca... Thank you for making our dreams come true!
