I had a positive experience being picked up for surgery very early in the morning by a driver from this Celebrity Cab company. Their fee was extremely reasonable compared with other companies I called before using their services. The operator and the driver were friendly and caring. I am so sorry to report this second negative review for Celebrity Cab. Last Sunday night was a disaster, (read first review), and yesterday we had another pick up needed from the Bradley Airport. I decided to give them a second chance, having worked with them so successfully for 15 years, called and made the reservation with Celebrity Cab, I called three times to verify the information and their confirmation. 15 minutes before our guests' arrival at the airport, (an hour and a half drive), Celebrity Cab called and said that yet again, their cab broke down. My husband took the call, and unfortunately lost his temper, which is rare. He and I both feel betrayed and utterly confused about why Celebrity Cab has let us down so badly twice in one week. Unfortunately in Amherst, MA, there are not many cabs, and Celebrity was always the best, I don't understand what has happened with them. Do they not understand that these contractual agreements matter? It is not just me who is hurt and abandoned,, it is the people that we thought we took very good care for, and Celebrity Cab just seems to have lost all professionalism. So be it. THIS IS THE WORST CAB COMPANY I HAVE SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. UNRELIABLE, UNETHICAL, UNPROFESISONAL, DECEIVING CONMAN BUSINESS I ordered a cab, and called to double-check the fair that was stated on the webstie, which was $20. The owner told me it would be $25 and I said O.K. Taxi comes, takes me to the destination with meter on, meter says a number different than $20 or $25. I ask him what I owe him. He replies "what did they tell you on the phone?" I reply, It was $20 on website. He hoffs and puffs and says Ok. I say, do you need cash or do you accept cards. I was told you accept cards on the phone. He hoffs and poffs more and says Ok. "I guess I can take your card". There is no card swiper. He takes my card information with pen. I double check, okay sir, what do I owe you. He replies "$20- I GUESS" . The next day, I check my card billing, and I got charged $30. I was told 5 different prices for one simple ride, and got charged an amount completely irrelevant to all. I have never witnessed a business telling me they guess I owe them X amount. When I call to ask what is happening the owner LAUGHS, and tells me "You get to talk 10 minutes (I told this situation that happened to me in as calm of a manner as possible, no yelling, etc.") NOW CAN I TALK 10 MINUTES. Website is old, I told you 25. IDK why driver did that." As if we are playing chess. This is a business. Decide what you are doing. They charge people by how they feel - nothing rational. I made a reservation in the morning for an afternoon pickup in Leverett, MA. I had to catch a bus in downtown Amherst to go to NYC for a family medical emergency. When the cab had not come 10 min after the appointed time, I called the Celebrity line. Received an automated voice and no call back. After 25 min and still no cab, a contractor working at my home fortunately drove me to Amherst, where I caught the bus just before it departed. No return call, no apology from Celebrity Cab. I can't say enough good things about this cab company! We used them several times during a recent visit to tour colleges in the area. Every time we called, our call was answered promptly, a cab arrived when promised, and in the one instance when the cab wasn't early, we received a call saying the driver was on her way. The clincher was when another cab company did not show up to take us back to Boston on the last day of our trip (even though I had called to confirm, not one, but three times, but that's another story). I called the owner of Celebrity at 7:30 in the morning and he found us another driver in time for us to make our flight from Logan. Our new driver was absolutely fabulous. I enjoyed every minute of the drive back. What could have been a very stressful day was a pleasure. read more

I called them a few hours early to get a ride home from work at midnight on new year's eve. They refused to book a cab for me because it wasn't a long enough ride to be profitable. I don't know what ethical company would let a young woman walk home in the dark on new years eve but it's not one I'm ever using again. read more

The owner and and my driver were a pleasure to do business with: courteous, answered their phones, and timely. Called to get a ride to an exam, missed the exam, and they took me back the next day at a discount. Will definitely be calling them for all future livery needs. read more

Had a fantastic experience with Heather from Celebrity Cab Co. She arrived on time, patiently waited while I faffed around in my house trying to find concert tickets, obligingly stopped at an ATM so I could get cash since I was too disorganized to realize I didn't have enough on me, and didn't increase the quoted fare ($35 from North Amherst to Northampton) even though I had caused afore-mentioned delays. They will be my go-to taxi in Amherst from now on. Thank you, Heather! read more

We have twice used Celebrity Cab to reach UMASS Amherst and get to our Peter Pan bus. Both times, we called ahead (the day before) to pre-book a taxi and both times Celebrity Cab Co was late. During our first experience, we had to call the office and the driver showed up soon after (they were about 5-10 minutes late). The second time, we once again had to call the office (at this point five minutes late already), and while we were told that the driver was "just around the corner", it turned out that he/she was not. In fact, the office called us back to let us know that they were approximately another 5 minutes late. We ONLY made our bus to Springfield because a nice neighbor took the time to quickly drive us to the bus stop. We understand that delays can happen, but it has now happened two out of two times. If you want to make sure that you get somewhere on time (reach your bus, train or whatever), we do NOT recommend this company! read more

We hailed a cab from Amherst and were told it was going to be $3 to Sunderland. It seemed low but we believed the cab driver. Halfway through the ride he said something about $30 (only because we asked again) at which point I realized his fare meter was not on. Additionally, there were no seatbelt buckles in the back seat and both the check engine and break lights were on. We demanded to be let out where we were and were feeling very creeped out by the driver. We immediately called management and had to fight to get our charge down. For no seatbelts we should have been charged nothing! It was a very unsafe ride. read more

Phone company to reserve cab to Bradley International. Man at the other end hems and haws for ten minutes. Finally he says he 'should be able to get a guy'. Then he adds, 'it will cost you $90'. But the website says $70, I protest. 'You're probably looking at a ten year old website. You won't get to Bradley for $70 with me.' Thanks mate. Clueless. read more

Hours are totally wrong. I tried calling at night to make morning reservations. They say they're open all night...not a chance. They probably closed around 10pm and opened back up around 8. When I called I got the owner who literally laughed at me for requesting a cab on a route they don't do. Apparently they won't go to South Hadley for under 30 bucks. I asked him if he could recommend another cab service and he actually laughed again saying there was none. What a jerk. I called yellow cab service. I should have done that first. read more

My earlier review did not make the cut. I was furious and my writing was hurried. I have used Celebrity Cabs for about three years as I was hired to work in Houston. The cab was always on time and I enjoyed developing relationships with the drivers. My wife had to see a presentation by a Spanish artist who was the teacher of her teacher. I was away on a gig. She hired Celebrity Cabs to take her to Boston and back. I felt very good about our relationship. Then two weeks ago I booked a cab to bring our two 90 year old friends to Springfield. We received a phone call from the dispatcher saying that the cab had a mechanical problem and he would come up to take our friends to their bus. He never showed up. They stayed another night and I paid a friend to take them to Springfield. When I complained to Celebrity he refunded the fare, but refused to reimburse our friends who had to buy new tickets. It was Celebrity's fault. Then on last Sunday I had a guest artist arriving from Los Angeles. The weather was bad and I didn't want to brave the drive. I called several cab companies, but they were booked. Students returning. I called Celebrity. I was told that they could pick her up at Bradley. The dispatcher couldn't tell me the cost because his boss was away playing poker. Finally the dispatcher called and said because we booked so late it had to be on the meter. I agreed because I really admire our guest artist. The dispatcher called back 15 minutes before her flight was to arrive and told me the cab had a mechanical malfunction and couldn't meet her. I asked if he had another cab. He didn't answer and I, quite frankly and to my now chagrin, blew my top. Two weeks in a row this cab company left me stranded. Please beware. Peter L. read more

I missed my train from Springfield because these people (one guy on the phone, actually) took my reservation the day before, but then NO ONE showed up at the designated time the next day! When I called repeatedly to find out where the car was, it just kept going to voicemail. Totally unprofessional, left me stranded, worst case scenario for any cab service. DO NOT use this service EVER. I would give it zero stars if I could. They put me in a potentially unsafe situation. read more

Do not use this company unless you want to be late or you are ready to get other rides after their no-show. I booked the taxi one day ahead. The pick-up time is a normal afternoon hour with day light. Not to mention I'm in the same neighborhood where they located. As the clock passed 4 min. after the pick-up time, I called. After I said the driver hasn't shown up, the person who booked me yesterday replied "that's why I asked you to call if the driver doesn't show up." It's like he has expected this and it's my fault to wait for 4 min!!!! Then he called the driver then called me back said the driver was on my street and I need to step out on the street and asked my address again. I WAS and AM still on the street (not my driveway but in the middle of the road). I told the person on the call that I've been on the street since the pick-up time. He then said with an attitude, "LISTEN, LET ME TELL YA, she's not a very good driver." He also said, "you need to find my driver." Here're my issues with them: - Being late/maybe even no-show (My neighbor gave me a ride at the last min) - Didn't know their own neighborhood - Bad attitude on the phone when it's their fault - Use bad driver according to their own office person - Tell the customer that "You need to find the driver!" read more

Mediocre at best and very inconsistent. Have had really great rides where the driver has been on time, etc etc. But the majority of my rides have not been so good. Examples are when: the driver never shows up and I called and called the company and after a few tries they picked up and apologized profusely saying they didn't have me written down on the schedule but would come pick me up ASAP. Had a time where they were on time for the pick up (I had scheduled a round trip) but they forgot about the pick up for the way back and when I called to ask if they were coming , they told me it would be a half hour wait so I ended up taking an Uber instead. Had times were I wanted to call hours in advance of my ride to ensure they would have space for me in their schedule, but had no one pick up the phone at all. I'd try to call back a few hours later and still had no response. Had many times where the driver was late 20-30 min. Also has times where they were a complete no show and wouldn't answer any of my calls asking if they were on their way. Overall, I'm not a huge fan of this company. They are all very nice people and I've had fun and interesting conversations with the owner, but it's a very unorganized and inconsistent company. I think they bank on the fact that they are pretty much one of the only cab companies still running in the western mass area (the other one being a complete shitshow from what I've heard). I hate a writing bad review especially when I can tell that the employees and owner are all nice kindhearted people, but I've had too many bad experiences. All the bad experiences outweigh the good ones. And the only reason I do keep coming back to them is because my school offers students free "health rides" to appointments from this company. But honestly it's more worth it to just pay the money for an Uber or Lyft than to have to worry about the driver never coming or them never picking up their phone. Would give zero stars if possible because not showing up / offering no explanation is unacceptable and that's happened to me a number of times. read more

I used Celebrity Cab Company to get to and from the Amtrak station in Amherst. They were 10 minutes late picking me up and the 7 minute ride costed $20. When I asked to use a card and was informed they don't have a reader, my driver took down my information (incorrectly) and gave it to the owner. The next day I received a call from them ON MY VACATION saying my card was declined (because my info was taken down wrong--driver spelled my name, Kevin M Mitchell, incorrectly...go figure). I agreed to pay them for the first trip and the drive back to Hampshire College when I returned. Upon this day, the driver, this time the owner, was again 10 minutes late and then proceeded to bark at me on why they don't take cards from students in an unbelievably rude fashion. Neither driver helped me or my girlfriend with our bags and when I gave a tip which I saw as fitting for my experience ($.30), the owner/driver actually vocalized the fact that he thought he deserved more. They again called me several days later saying I hadn't paid because my card was declined, even though I payed cash for both rides in the end. These people are incapable of doing their jobs and really don't care about getting you where you need to go...especially for a reasonable amount of money. In my opinion, you're better off walking. read more
