I was so happy to see celebrity skin move to our neighborhood and have been there a couple times since they opened. I received the organic airbrush spray tan and was very happy with it! I always pick the lightest color as I am very fair, skinned, and believe that it looks very nice not orange or anything the dusting that they put on afterward can look a little dark, but once you wash that off the next morning, I have found the color to be a nice tan color - perfectly prepared for my vacations! UPDATE: 5-6 spray tans later, this place is my only go-to. It's not even very close to where I live but I will make the commute every time. The workers are friendly and easy to reach. I have been communicating via text to schedule all appointments which is always responded to quickly and is so convenient for me being a person who works long hours during the day in the medical field where I cannot make phone calls at my leisure. Adi is my go-to tech (only one I have ever had but I adore her). So sweet and does a fantastic job! Also totally would recommend the pre and post spray treatment. First time coming here because I had a gift card and it did not disappoint! I literally think this is the best spray tan I've ever gotten. Sarah did my spray tan and she was wonderful! It was so fast and easy. Usually the day after I get a spray tan it starts to streak a little in places or it just doesn't look that good. After my spray tan with Sarah I had none of that. It literally looks so natural!! I was a little worried it would be too light because I went with medium but it's perfect!!! I love it! I will definitely be back! This is my first time trying lash extensions and can not compare to any other experience. However, I've received tons of complements on how natural and real these extensions look. I do take great care of them, but believe that the estheticians here are awesome! Before my first full set, I asked for a natural look and after, I wished I had asked for a full look (to get the full mascara effect). This was my first time getting eyelash extensions so I did some pretty extensive research beforehand and found out about Celebrity Skin. They usually book up pretty quickly in the summer, so I definitely recommend calling in a week or two in advance. My appointment was at 11am on a Thursday (which is their opening time for that day, and it varies every day). I decided to get there 15 minutes beforehand in order to allocate enough time to fill out forms and get settled, but when I got there it was still closed and I had to wait outside until 10:55am before someone came to open up the store. So if they happen to open the same time your appointment is scheduled, don't try to come too early. Dana, the woman who did my lashes was so nice! She was very thorough in explaining the process and she was very gentle as well so the whole 2 hr application was actually very soothing. She was very meticulous and precise with applying lashes, and she told me that since she's been doing lashes she's never had someone contact her about any allergic reaction (which made me really relieved to hear)! My lashes turned out pretty nice in the end and she was also very thorough in explaining the aftercare process too. I woke up this morning with no allergic reaction, so she definitely knows what she's doing! I recommend asking for Dana if you're looking for someone to do eyelash extensions! read more

Celebrity Skin is the best thing that has happened to me in a while. They have two salons, one on the northshore and one downtown, which is absolutely perfect. A vast improvement on my usual front. I was lucky enough to be scheduled with Melissa, who's not only lovely but also knowledgeable, a great singer, and she didn't make me feel embarrassed when I fell asleep on her table and was only woken up after hearing the sound of my own snoring. Gross, right? But on the bright side, when I awoke I had long, luxurious, luscious lashes and it was just in time to get my unruly mad scientist eyebrows tamed. Melissa went above and beyond in every department. Defined eyebrows? Who am a I? Freaking love this place. Plus, they offer some crazy good monthly deals on their services. I got $100 my appointments last time and their work is totally worth the full price. And now I feel that much more shiny and sparkly when I wear my Wolf Blitzer glasses with my new lash and brow 'do while I pretend I'm an expert on all things air/flight/LOST/conspiracies/national treasures/aliens/time travel/government cover-ups and everything else that may or may not be going on here. And just for the record, I think they're all alive and/or some top secret government sh*t happened and they know exactly what's going on and are working feverishly on a cover-up. The place was really cute really busy. My spray tan barely last me 2 days before it was shedding off. I usually go to benefit. Which those tans last me Anywhere from 7-10 days. I literally got the head tilt, "did you get a spray tan? " It was the first time I've ever been embarrassed to get a spray tan. I at first thought things were gonna be great but the next day realized how patchy the job was and it's already coming off. :( Definitely not worth $45. I wish it worked out. I really like the space but I've never had a spray tan come off this quick. read more

I've been seeing Violettea for about a year now in Wilmette. A few weeks ago I received a call letting me know that I'd have to change my upcoming eyelash extension appointment because Violetta (a one woman show at the Wilmette location) had suddenly quit. I just happened to have meetings downtown the day of my appointment so easily switched the location. Not surprisingly the downtown location seems to be a bit of a bigger operation. I was greeted by 2 receptionists in comparison to Wilmette where one woman ansers the phones, does eyelash extensions, waxes, spray tans, etc. About 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment I was in the capable hands of Melissa. I was worried that my appointment would run late and was hoping to get back to the city within the hour to beat traffic. However, Melissa worked her eyelash magic fast and I was done within 45 minutes. It also probably helped that we didn't spend much time chit chatting like I often do with Violetta back in Wilmette. I listened to my music and enjoyed the only 45 minutes of peace and quiet I was likely to get all day/week/month. The finished product looked great (oh so natural) and I couldn't help, but ask Melissa is she could take the job in Wilmette. It sounds like she'll be staying downtown, but now that I've seen the amazing work of 2 women I'm trusting them to find someone just as awesome in Wilmette. However, when I find myself in the Wicker Park area I wouldn't hesitate to pay Melissa another visit. read more

Spray tan - So I've never gotten a spray tan before so I was very very nervous. I am standing up in my best friend's wedding and wanted to get extra color since my dress is very light. I had a bit of color since it's the summer, but wanted a little more so I went for the light/medium option. I have very sensitive eyes and do not like when my eyes are touched, but this was a very relaxing experience. Ali plays music but I also brought headphones to listen to a podcast the first time since you can't talk/move your face anyways (just a personal tip!). Don't go here for eyelash extensions. The extensions I got looked great and lasted forever, unfortunately so did the infection I got from them. My aesthetician did not wear gloves during the procedure. The room did not look clean. I laid on what looked like a dirty towel(big spots on it) while she touched my eyelids with her bare hands. The glue burned terribly during it and I let her know that, but she insisted it was fine. I was prepared for my eyes to be red and possibly itchy from the glue in the extensions for about a day, but a couple days later my eyelids blew up and I got terrible dandruff around the lashes. It has been a nightmare to get rid of and even 8 months later, I have not gotten rid of the infection I got from Celebrity Skin. I wish I had told her to stop when I realized she wasn't wearing gloves or when I walked in and thought the room looked dirty. read more

This was my first experience getting eyelash extensions, and it was pretty different from what I was expecting. We went into a room that looked like a massage room and I laid on the bad, face up. She put tape right on the inside rim of my lower lids, I guess to prevent my eyes from getting glued shut! After that there was an hour or so of what I can only describe as me taking a nap... it was seriously super relaxing (at least for me). Occasionally I would feel some light pressure on my eyelids and something that felt like she was brushing my lashes, and that was literally it. When she was all done, she had me look in the mirror, and it looked so good. I think this is something that could be easy to get hooked on, since I only had the half set and after a few weeks when they were all gone I felt like my eyes were just naked! And my natural lashes are just fine on their own. It's just really easy to get used to not putting mascara on! The only thing I didn't like was that it was my first time so I wasn't really sure about the aftercare, and she couldn't find an information sheet to give me so she just told me what she could think of off the top of her head - including that you can't get the lashes wet for 48 hours! So if you have a big event coming up, make sure you do this at least a couple days beforehand. There's nothing more difficult than trying to shower and wash your face without getting your eyes wet... Nor are you allowed to wear anything other than water-based mascara on them. Also I noticed a slight asymmetry between my right and left eye, nothing drastic, but enough to bother me just a little bit. Since I had a groupon the first time I went, they were offering a deal to buy more fill-ins or full sets for the same groupon price. So I bought a full set and can't wait to get it done! read more

TOP NOTCH BIKINI AND LEG WAX! I had Jen, who apparently is very versatile and also does eyelashes and nails, do my Brazilian bikini wax and leg wax. I bought the groupon based on the many 5 star reviews for tanning and eyelashes, so I assumed if everyone is raving about the other services, then the waxing must be good, too. My assumption was correct. Even though I had a groupon, I got great service from Jen (some places don't like to give top notch service to it's groupon customers). I explained my concern to her (my sensitive skin) and she used a combo of hard wax and soft wax. This was the most painless bikini wax I've had (she used hard wax on that). Jen was fast, accurate, and hygienic (NO double dipping). I could tell she was very experienced with waxing. She also made my time go by fast, as she was very easygoing and interesting to talk to. The dynamic of the whole staff is wonderful. I can tell they love their jobs, which makes for a positive atmosphere. I'll be back for more, I already scheduled two more appointments. I might consider getting an airbrush tan there- the people coming out after getting airbrushed looked fantastic, and had believable tans. Prices are fair. They are about $5-10 cheaper per bikini/leg waxing service compared to other places in the city. AND, since I take public transit everywhere, I was thrilled that this is in walking distance of the Damon blue line stop. The store is also directly behind the 72 Clark bus stop. read more

The worst waxing experience I ever had! Also, the doorbell was broken, so I stood outside waiting for the receptionist to look up from her phone and let me in. When it came to the Brazilian, I normally have a high pain tolerance but today I was cringing in pain. I felt as if she wouldn't do a complete "pull" of the wax paper, and only pulled half way. It was terrible. Not to mention, the wax itself was scalding hot. I voiced my concern, and she tried to cool it manually with each dip, but obviously it was not enough. Anna is the best esthetician ever! This is my favorite salon to wait in! That's right- wait!! This is a beautiful space, and perfectly done. The reception was nice, and they seemed to give everyone asking questions their full attention in the lobby, even the walk-ins basically asking for a consultation on the spot. ( I was a half hour early to my appointment, so I observed quite a bit.) On to Anna. I have never had a better Brazilian wax. She was clean, careful, and even used an ice pack! I've had a few Brazilian waxes in my days, but Anna's was the best, by a landslide. I won't get too detailed on the procedure here on Yelp, but she does go back and tweeze, which is important, and she uses an ice pack!!! This place is a tanning salon so it smells like one...which doesn't bother me. Super nice front desk staff. Cute little place. I had Melissa. Let me say, she has a great personality! Loved her. And damn, Gina...her lashes looked good after. I could bat them at anyone & they would swoon. And they lasted FO-ev-a! Yay to good staying power... Why not 5 stars? Well I also asked for an eyebrow wax because my bday celebration was the next night...alas, I got scalped. For $18 + tip...I wasn't happy. She did a good job with the shape, but I think didn't hold my brow taut and took some of my skin underneath. The other annoying thing was I feel like she noticed it but didn't say anything...bah. The tan is great and Anna did an amazing job. I really like that they use powder afterwards on areas you're likely to sweat. Unfortunately on my way to the salon I frickin got in a fender bender and I called the salon to let them know. But what sucked (other than my damaged car, womp womp :/ ) was that my tan was supposed to be 30 since it was scheduled before 3 and then they ended up charging me 45. I get it, I was late. But as a first time customer who still made it in before 3, it would have been a nice gesture to honor the price I thought I was paying. Oh and I also didn't know I was being charged more until after I was already sprayed. I might have just said forget it if I knew ahead of time I was going to pay 50% more. So kind of a shame the price was a unpleasant surprise, but again, Anna did a wonderful job so I highly recommend her. read more

I came here after I purchased an online deal and was very impressed. It is right down the street from me and was easy to find...right on North Avenue. It was a bit ago that I got my full body spray tan, so I don't remember the girl who applied the tan, but I do remember liking the results and thinking she made me feel comfortable. The process was explained to me, even though I had received spray tans before I appreciated the reminder and tips. The tan was applied evenly and didn't have the typical spray tan smell. I haven't been back since as summer came and I let mother nature do my tanning, but can't wait to go back now that winter has fully set in and any natural tan I had is completely gone. read more
