I was a bit confused but didn't have a problem, gave him the same id. I'm a 25 year old PhD student. I like to think I at *least* look believably 21 but dude was not having it. He asked for a second form of id. Idk who the hell carries two forms of id around, but I had my global entry card so I gave him that. Boy did that set him off. Apparently he doesn't know what a global entry card looks like and started ranting about how long he's been doing this and how could I think this would fool him? Congrats buddy put your 10 years of experience as a bouncer on a resume. Clearly you still don't know what you're doing. I offer a picture of my passport, health insurance card, student id, three credit cards in the same name, nothing had a chance. Dude threatens to call the cops, I say go ahead buddy I'm 25 call the fuckin cops. He leaves with my license and global entry presumably to scare me into thinking he's calling the cops and concede. I get back to my chess game unconcerned. At some point I imagine he realized he was wrong because he finally came back, gave me back my shit and said I just had to leave. Everyone in my group (all 21+) had to leave with me, five minutes after paying a $10 cover. Seems like a cool spot, but damn did that ruin the night. No idea what I ever did to set him off and very disappointed about the embarrassment, ruined night, and lost $10 a person. We all just went home disappointed and confused. read more

Love this place! Live jazz, billiards, shuffleboard, arcade games, and all the classic board games- what else could you want? The line gets pretty long on weekend nights but it moves decently fast. The cover is $10 on weekends and they take cards. The wait for pool tables will be about an hour so I would recommend joining the wait list the second you enter and enjoy some jazz while you wait. Watch out for the overhead pipes if you sit down for jazz, you might get dripped on. The beer options are extensive but pricey at about $10 per beer. Would recommend the Sour Hour. read more

I wanted to check out the Fat Cat for a very long time because I love playing pool, but don't want to spend a lot on it. I didn't know where Fat Cat was at first glance but realized it's now renamed Cellar Dog. There was a bouncer at the front door who checked our IDs and then it was a $10 entrance fee since it was the weekend and they gave us bracelets which we could use to come back in with until closing. We started out by getting drinks and playing pool. They had beers on tap and hard seltzers! They had different games like pool ($7 per hour), table tennis ($?), shuffleboard ($?), board and card games ($2 for as long as you want). They also had live jazz music when we went. There was a section for every activity. You could play one of the games, or sit and watch the live band, order drinks at the bar, or sit in the booths and seating areas to play games or chat! The wall artwork is very eclectic and unique, not sure I get it completely, but interesting to look at! I really loved Cellar Dog! The staff is really nice and the ambiance is very chill. Everyone is just looking to have a great time. So if you're looking for a nice night of live music, drinks, and games, come here! I recommend coming here and I will definitely be back! read more

Great place! Plenty of games are available, with hardly any line to wait in to get on a table or board. There is a cover of $10 per person, but it is worth it. We went on a Saturday, and they had live music playing some uptempo jazz in the background. Lots of space, so you can bring parties of 2-10 or more. We ended up playing a few rounds of shuffleboard and pool. An excellent suggestion if you are looking to spend a few hours playing games with a group of friends. I like how they have a couple of benches facing the band for you to just chill on and enjoy the performance. I may have made the mistake by coming on a Friday night, but it was impossible to play any games. The wait alone was nearly 30 minutes to sign up, then another hour wait to play. Luckily their live band was great and the bartenders were efficient. I'll be back on a calmer night for sure. read more

Happy to see that Fat Cat is reincarnated! Just revisited this joint on a Thursday around 7pm and it wasn't crowded at all! Tried my hand at pool, ping pong and shuffleboard. While my boyfriend did think the pool tables were not leveled, I did feel all the equipment was well-maintained. Cover charge is $5 on weekdays, probably for the live jazz bands, which is a very nice touch and great ambience. The other activities are $8 per hour per person on weekdays. They also have board games to rent for $2. Bartenders were super friendly and attentive as well. I like how very non-pretentious this place is. Don't be fooled by the "game room". There's like one (pinball?) machine and a few chess tables in there. They also need to get with the SNACKS, man. Even just offering homemade popcorn or something would be cool. Had fun there. But, beware the bartenders... they changed my tip amount from 20% to 33%, last Friday 2/28. My CC company picked up on it and sent me an notification. I'm sure they will make every excuse why they did that. But, I was a bartender for 10 years in NYC. And i wasn't drunk, I didn't leave my card there. I promise you I barely spoke to them and had nothing but pleasant interactions. And I gave them a 20% tip. I have no idea why they think they deserved more. I experienced terrible treatment here. I came for an event that was fully paid for by the organizers. No one in my party should have been charged a cover fee. I let them know that tis was an inappropriate practice for a business to charge guests for a prepaid and not in good faith with the organizers. The man told me that he "didn't like my attitude" which is outrageously rude, unacceptable, and frankly misogynistic behavior. Management was rude, disrespectful, and unaccommodating. I totally regret that we held an event there. The place is filthy - there's no soap in the bathrooms and the toilet seats have stains. Imagine that you are sharing pool sticks and foosball and other game pieces with a room full of people who have not washed their hands after using the bathroom, and there's no sanitizer in sight. Given the way this establishment treats its patrons in such an upsetting manner and the lack of clean facilities, take your business literally anywhere else. read more
