Went to Ripple Room with a small group on a Thursday evening around 9-10pm and were able to walk right in, though the space was already very busy. The venue has a cool setup and atmosphere, it's a long space with retro-inspired decor, a lengthy bar, a photo booth, and a few couches toward the front. Throughout there are booth tables and towards the back there's a pool table, plus staircases in both the front and back leading upstairs. The second level has additional booth seating along with more open lounge-style couches and seating areas. The music and overall energy made it feel upbeat and lively, while still being casual and easy to hang out in. The crowd skewed mostly 20s and early 30s, and groups around us were chatting, playing cards, and hanging out with games. There was not much room for dancing while we were there, though it seemed like that could change later into the night. This is a good option for cocktails with a group, especially if you arrive early enough to grab seating or a comfortable standing area. I just had a tequila soda, which was typical NYC pricing just under $20. I would definitely come back for a fun night out or as a place to meet up before continuing the evening elsewhere. read more

A really fun place. Decent large bar downstairs with seating off to the side (booths/ reserved). The upstairs is more for dancing and there is ample seating up there as well. The drinks were delicious and despite it being extremely busy it only took a few minutes to wait for drinks. I would definitely return. They also have a photo both to take pictures in by the door. Fun for groups or even a date, the space itself is a very cool 70s lounge with booths downstairs and some more booths + couches upstairs. There's one pool table on each floor and the beer selection is pretty standard. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. I would only return on a weekday as on weekends the space gets so crowded and hot past 11 pm. We had to wait in a line for 5 minutes just to get upstairs, and don't even get me started on the bathroom lines. read more

What a retro and cool spot for a night out in LES! We came by from recommendation at a nearby bar and it's definitely a vibe. It's unassuming outside, but the minute we walked in, I was amazed by how much space this place has. It's two floors with the upstairs being more of a club lounge vibe and the ground floor felt like a house party with a pool table. This definitely is the spot that all the cool kids in their 20's are hanging out at. It was also a very busy Friday night, so a bit crowded. I'd come by on a weeknight or earlier for a chill vibe. The drinks were also pretty strong and decently priced for Manhattan at $17 for a cocktail. I had the Sesame Old Fashioned, which was really just a classic Old Fashioned sans sesame. My rating for this spot varied wildly during my stay. I went from open minded to three stars to four stars to five stars, and eventually back to four. I started with three stars because the bartender was curt with me, pretty much making my drink as quickly as possible and blowing me off to go chat with some younger, prettier girls. I don't care about extra attention, but don't forget older people have more money, and we just want decent service (keep in mind I'm 43, so not even THAT old). Then he came back and made me a second drink and was more attentive and he asked me my favorite and made sure I was taken care of and was happy with my stay. He was much more attentive. So I evened it out to four. Not crowded because it was like a Wednesday night. The vibe is very LES, moody velvet and vinyl seating, with red, gold, and light colored wood. I had the desert pearl, made with mezcal, amaro nonino, salt, and citrus. I also had the pink Cadillac, made with tequila, luxardo triplum, guava, agave, and lime. Cocktails were pretty good, with some trendy components. Mezcal, tequila, vodka, rum. Frozen margs and Pina coladas. Classics like the martini, spritz, espresso martini (I'm so tired of those). Overall, it's worth checking out once, especially if you can get in on a less crowded day, but there are other bars with more soul and a better vibe. read more

A super cute 2 story bar in an unassuming corner. Went on a Tuesday, so pretty empty. Has a pool table, a bar and group seatings on each floor. The photobooth is only on 1st floor and it does take quite some time to print but $7 for 4-photo-strip. Did not have the drinks as I'm a mocktail person and the bartender said "we don't really have that" and people I went with just had beer. Maybe don't go for drinks and more for the photobooth and experience. read more

An unassuming exterior but once you step inside, prepare to be welcomed into a truly gorgeous space. There are large booths, a bar with seats and plenty of standing room downstairs, but if you ascend the wooden staircase, you'll find even more seated and an additional bar. I had one of the Spicy Margaritas, which was too, but I wish they allowed liquor substitutions on this one as I saw they stocked Mezcal. My friend ordered a dirty martini and our other friend ordered a beer. The bar takes a while to serve, as their menu has a few complex drinks, but it's worth it. The menu looked to have light bites as well, but I did not try any this time. I'll be returning because the ambiance is truly next level, plus I'll be getting that mezcal! read more

The Ripple Room was a great time with really good energy throughout the night. I went upstairs for an event I was invited to and everything was set up well. There was an open bar with great drinks, some solid bites, and good music from a live vinyl DJ which really set the tone. The vibes were strong and the crowd made it even better. One funny and slightly chaotic detail was that the same bartender dropped six or seven glasses throughout the night. It was hard not to notice and a little wild to watch, but it did not take away from how fun the night was overall. Don't expect your night to be fun here--they seem more interested in profit than customers. On June 20, I went to Ripple Room and watched bartenders kick people out for the pettiest reasons. Management needs to get a handle on the staff's power trips. I saw people removed because they couldn't move out of a server's way when there was literally nowhere for them to go. My group was also kicked out because a server didn't like the way I was sitting. Even though I immediately did what she asked, she started yelling at my friend, used slurs, and then called security to throw us out. Do I understand the need to keep a venue safe? Yes. But nobody involved was drunk or causing problems. It felt like they wanted people to buy a drink and leave. As for security, they grabbed us by the arms while we were already leaving and took photos of us on a personal phone, claiming it was "so we know what they look like and they can't come back." This used to be my favorite bar, but I'll never return. I was physically grabbed, verbally abused, and thrown out for no legitimate reason. read more

My friend came here on Valentine's Day, it was a Valentine's Day crawl w me and all of my girlfriends. My two friends were at the bar waiting for a drink two grenade a**holes came up to my two friends. They started chatting them up and clearly my two friends were not interested. My friend Kayla said to the guy "my friend is not interested". As she says that the guy proceeds to slap my friend hard across the face. The two guys run out of the bar immediately. My friend is traumatized disgusted and absolutely beside herself that this can happen to a woman just out at a bar in New York City trying to enjoy her Valentine's Day. Upon realization that this had just transpired, my two friends ran out to follow the guys out and were met with the bouncer and a woman who might have been the manager (unsure). They explained to the bouncers what had just happened and the bouncers completely un phased, began to tell them to leave and actually started physically pushing them away while laughing when they weren't leaving, as they were pleading with them to help them. One of the bouncers nail actually scratched my OTHER friend in the nose and left a scratch. Disgusting. I am writing this with the hope that ripple room will reach out and take action against the POS that 1 slapped my friend in the face and 2 apologize for the actions of their bouncers. In this day and age do women really need to be scared to go into a reputable bar in New York City?? Is nowhere safe? We are looking to take legal action with the police and if ripple room does not comply we will get lawyers involved and we will turn to social media as well. read more
