They spent a lot of time explaining all the health care the animals have available. The tour was definitely worth the price. I read some of the negative reviews. These seem to be from a few years ago, so they are listening and correcting. The ONE thing that irritated me, my wife and others (judging from comments at the time): They start showing a documentary before the tour (show up at least 30 minutes early). They don't finish, but you can watch it all on streaming. The irritating part is they are preparing for the tour during the documentary. Lots of us would have liked to hear, but the manager and employees were all talking (or shouting) preparations. Maybe they could do this BEFORE the documentary or OUTSIDE?? But it is definitely five stars, even with this little glitch. Check it out and help the animals!

We went on a Saturday morning in February, so the experience was peaceful, quiet, and calm. While not a whole lot of animals were out during our slot (just doing their animal thing!), we were still able to see a nice variety of species. The absolute highlight was getting to feed the giraffes at the end of the tour! They are such majestic creatures, and it was a fun, interactive activity. We finished the tour fairly quickly since many animals weren't right up against the fence that day, but it's a fantastic activity to add to your itinerary if you're spending a full day exploring the coast. You can truly tell that the caretakers value and care deeply for these animals. It's a great experience that supports an excellent cause!

It is wise to step outside your environment and, in the case of this current venture, go visit an Alpaca farm. The Menagerie Hill ranch has beautiful animals. The host was awesome and knowledgeable. We increased our knowledge of the animals and of the farm but also got to feed them. We also had the opportunities to get close and personal with them for pictures. They were all friendly and fluffy. I recommend this unique experience for all because if you do not just break your usual pattern to stop and smell the roses or to pet and feed an Alpaca, life will pass by before you know it. Put your life on pause just for a few hours and go see the Alpacas. They would like to share peace with you. You can find them at the Menagerie Hill Ranch

We stayed in touch over the next several weeks before settling on an August date. We braved the high temps and winding roads to arrive at the ranch. It's a beautiful space on a hillside and you can see the herd and their guardian llama as you pull into the parking lot. We learned a lot about the alpaca life cycle, fed the boys, and my daughter got to hold and carry a cria. We bought two cute alpaca shaped soaps. I didn't experience any of the negativity others have complained about. It is a working ranch so it's not a petting zoo or a tourist attraction. Go with the flow and you'll have a great experience.

I attempted to make a reservation for the harbor tour with Captain Dan for my anniversary. When I called I reached a voicemail inbox and began to leave a message, but in the middle of it someone picked up - no greeting or other info, just a very brusque "hello?" Out of simple curiosity I asked if they ever do whale watching trips at other times of year, but was abruptly interrupted by the person shouting, "why doesn't anyone ever look at the website, we don't do that here!!" I was so taken aback that I apologized and hung up. The tour genuinely looks like it would be lovely and I was interested in what Captain Dan would be able to tell us about! But I'm not about to risk continuing to being treated so rudely on a special occasion.

Booking online was super easy, we were sent a confirmation email with a number to call to confirm our tour time. Since the availability of the tour in really dependent on the tide, we did call back a couple weeks ahead to confirm and pay for the tour. Kristin helped us though the process and made it really easy and painless. Captain Dan was super nice. I appreciate all the stories and knowledge he shared about the harbor, who does what in each boat, the surrounding properties, his time in Alaska, and more. Such great conversations. We got pretty lucky because there was a couple boats selling tuna and cleaning fish so there was a lot of sea lions and seals around waiting for fish. We were on an electric boat, so it was really quiet and didn't scare away the marine life and we were able to get up close. We got to see lots of beautiful birds, he had even told us which ones to watch because they dive down and catch fish. And we did see one catch a fish! It was so cool. Such an amazing experience we'd go again the next time we're out in the area. I definitely recommend!

Yesterday was my third hunt with them, all of them being business related, but at the end of the day, we are just good friends trying to do something rememberable, as opposed to just another boring game of golf. (who remembers a golf game?) I have taken 11 people on the property in three hunts that I have done at PPR, most first timers. Kayla and her team have dealt with many novices and it is old hat for them to make a first time hunter feel comfortable...but even for somebody experienced like me, this is a phenomenal hunt. Most importantly, they go the extra mile to make sure that everyone in the group gets has an opportunity, giving each and every person time and attention...out of the 11 folks I have taken up, I was the only one that didn't connect on one of the trips...and it was completely my fault. Kayla's skill and confidence in her profession will absolutely leave you astonished. If you are thinking about taking clients up there...do it. Kayla and her brothers know the drill, and will help you create unforgettable memories. Thanks again PPR...can't wait to introduce you to my next crew.
