I had a terrible experience with this company. I paid $385 for a "5 day trapping campaign" for help with what I thought was a skunk living under our shed. They were supposed to come every day for 5 days and finish by sealing the area under the shed to prevent future problem. Over two weeks later, they have been here only twice, and showed up like 6 hours late on the first day. We didn't catch anything, which frankly I don't blame them for, but they have completely ghosted me rather than returning to finish the job (picking up the traps and sealing the area under our shed). I have 4 traps full of what I think is rotting cat food and a shed that I need to seal myself. I recommend choosing any other available options for whatever your wildlife / pest issue might be!! read more

We hired Cen-Tex in September to help us get rid of a couple of Ring-tailed Cats that were living up in our attic. Michael and Jessica are very professional and arrived promptly for every scheduled visit. They successfully set up a "one-way" door leading out of one of the eaves in our roof where these critters were getting in. They also sealed up all other possible points of entry on the roof and around the house, installed new flash sidings around the eaves of the roof and fixed one of the nearby gutters that was loose. The ring-tailed cats were gone within 48 hours and not able to re-enter. We initially had a minor hiccup when a different serviceman returned 5 days later to do the finish-up work. The problem was handled professionally and Michael and Jessica returned instead to do the follow-up work by removing the trap, minor roof repair and clean up the feces in the attic. I highly recommend their service. The ring-tailed cats are now gone from our attic and live out among our trees around the house where they safely belong (as spotted in our attached photo). Also, we live close to downtown. This is no longer just a hill country animal. The ring-tailed cats have packed their rural bags and moved into the city for some arts, culture and fine dining. No one believed me that we had ring-tailed cats living with us until now. read more

Cen-Tex Wildlife made a post/response last week that they have now removed stating that they made several attempts to contact me, which is categorically untrue. This comes 3 years almost to the day from when they took $1200 from me to perform work for me at my house, gave me a 3 year "warranty" and never returned. They stated for the next year online that they "never heard of me," only to state as the warranty expires that they made every effort. I was able to contact Cen-Tex last week through the phone number here for the first time in nearly 3 years since they took my money and then pretended they didn't know me. When I got on the phone, A lady stated that the person responding to these ads is the owner and he is out of Dallas. The name of the current owner making statements on this board is different than who I was told three years ago. I will withhold her name here for privacy reasons. The lady on the phone recognized I was trying to contact management for an issue and, instead of directing me to them, she called me "pathetic," told me that they knew where I worked, and threatened to contact my employer and their corporate offices. This is a similar threat that was made 3 years ago by the person that claimed he was the son of the owner where he threatened to contact my employer and told me to not leave my house for travel. Knowing that I was a fan of a specific sports team, he asked, "Do you like visiting ______? Don't you ever think about going there again." This threat initiated my purchase of a camera and security system for my house. Now that the warranty has officially expired and no work was completed, I have sent notices to Cen-Tex for violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act for, amongst other things, making false or misleading statements of fact concerning the reasons for, existence, of, or amount of price reductions, and representing that a guaranty or warranty confers or involves rights or remedies which it does not have or involve. If there is no response for 30 days, I will follow through in small claims court. I have taken screen shots of their "We have never heard of him" reply from September 2017, 3 months after the money was taken, and May 2020, "We did everything we can" responses on Yelp that have been removed. They have removed several false responses when they have been disproved with screen shots/invoices/etc. Please read other real reviews here to see the pattern. UPDATE: After posting my original review, we were contacted and met in person. The tech suggested that we had misunderstood the terms of the agreement--our service had no guarantee. We'd originally contacted Rat Removal Austin, which is apparently the same people as this because Cen-Tex is who billed us. And on the Rat Removal website they sure go on about how they can fix your rat problem for good. Is there fine print? Yes! They say "IN ALMOST ALL CIRCUMSTANCES OUR WORK IS GUARANTEED, THE ONLY TIME OUR WORK ISNT GUARANTEED IS WHEN THE CUSTOMER REFUSES THE SERVICE WHICH WOULD COME WITH A GUARANTEE." (Caps are theirs) The tech told me during our meeting that he hadn't offered us the service that had a guarantee because he'd suspected it was a plumbing issue. Problem is, he never once mentioned to us that our work wasn't guaranteed. So in essence we paid about $1000 for three rat-free months. They were good months, but not THAT good. I pointed out to him that we would not have paid that amount of money with no guarantee. We had much cheaper quotes that also had no guarantee, not to mention that called us back within a day. He offered us a deal. If we took down the Yelp review, they would refund half the money. Perhaps some will judge, but I took the deal. I want to help y'all out, but we were going to need that money to actually solve the rat problem. Within days, maybe even later that day, I took down the review. We waited. And waited. And texted. And waited. And texted and texted and texted. We were told the check was coming. It was coming. We should have it soon. Etc. That was in June and it is now November. No check. Look, rat problems suck. When you have a recurring problem as bad as ours, you want to believe promises like "We always provide a permanent solution to your rat or mouse problem by determining the points of entry and sealing them as well as sealing other vulnerable points of entry called an EXCLUSION. We use top of the line materials and All of our work comes with a Warranty." Oh look! That's from their home page and certainly makes you think that the work is warrantied, no? Anyway, I discounted the negative reviews as crazy people who were probably impossible to please. Perhaps I'll be that person to you and you'll ignore this. Honestly, I would have. In that case, best wishes to you, my friend. I do hope it works out. For the rest of you, make note of the address of the place. They seem to have websites under several different names, not just the two I mentioned here. ORIGINAL REVIEW: My best guess is that they went out of business between February and now. We had them out for a rat situation four months ago and paid a chunk of money. It seemed worth it for the 3 year guarantee. Three months later, the rats returned. When moving into my, new to me, old home I figured I would encounter some oddities and issues that would be needed to be addressed. I never would have guessed that I would have an attic full of a raccoon family living in my attic. At first, I thought great roommates to split the rent! I climbed up there to talk to them about and they were not very polite so I decided to call Centex. They were onsite within 1 day (crazy fast) and identified how the raccoons were getting in and out. Then they developed a plan on how to humanely remove the raccoons using a fancy device they attached to my home. Within a week I had the entrance points blocked, the raccoons removed and the entire project closed out. Highly Recommended! read more

I thought I had done a good search of reviews, but the number of good ones for this company is extremely misleading. Like some other reviewers, what we have been through with this company is a nightmare. I manage a rental property that got rats and hired Cen-tex to take care of them. After I was told "all work completed", I gave in to their aggressive daily invoice reminders and paid the over $600 bill. A few weeks later, the renters let me know that they never came back to finish the job. The renters made special arrangements to be home from work for appointments that were missed. I spent a significant amount of time following up on phone calls and texts that were never returned. I was not informed of the problems with the garage door or vent until a MONTH after the initial inspection. In the time between being told "all work is completed" and everything actually being sealed up, the rats caused more damage, creating additional repair costs that could have been prevented. As far as I'm aware, the traps that Cen-tex set have been completely ineffective and the only success we've had so far is with the traps the renters set themselves. Additionally, I called another company for a second opinion and they said the foam used to seal up the weep holes could be chewed through by the rats and that it may block moisture from escaping which can cause cracks in the house. In addition to the damage they've caused, rats have the potential to carry disease, so this is also a health and safety issue. I have more grievances with them, but this review is already too long. Just don't hire this company, they will not do the job. read more

Similarly to other reviewers from the time frame of our interactions with Centex (June 2021-August 2022), we have had a very negative experience and feel that we wasted a large amount of money by paying Centex for services they did not effectively deliver. Austinites, beware: I think this company may be a scam. Centex charged us $1800 for raccoon exclusion with a warranty set to begin upon the conclusion of the work in August 2021. A technician came out and claimed to have sealed up the chimney that the raccoons were using to access our attic. I continued to hear raccoon-typical noises occasionally, and on one occasion in August 2021 another technician came out to check on things and again claimed that the previous technician had solved the problem. She asked us to schedule a full inspection, but they were completely unavailable during times when we were at home. In general, communication with Centex is very difficult -- it's hard to get a real person on the phone, and they often do not return calls or text messages (they specifically ask customers to use text messaging as well as voicemail). This summer, while we were out of town, our A/C broke, and when our housesitters met with the A/C repairman, he stated that it seemed like raccoons had disconnected our A/C air handler in the attic while attempting to drink the A/C condensate (which is just plain water. One can hardly blame the raccoons in this weather... but sorry guys, losing our A/C is a dealbreaker!). I called and texted Centex from out of town. They asked me to schedule a full inspection. I said I would like to do that. That was July 21st. I never got a follow-up call or text to schedule the inspection. Since the A/C was working again, I let it slide. Yesterday morning, August 18th, I heard weird sounds coming from the A/C and rustles and bumps in the attic. I rushed up and peeked in the attic door to find an actual raccoon staring back at me (a safe 15 feet away). Again, and repeatedly, I called and texted Centex. Again, I've heard absolutely nothing in response. $1800 for ineffective raccoon exclusion, ineffective communication, a meaningless warranty, and a total lack of follow-up support seems like a pretty awful bargain to me. If Centex wants to get in touch with me to ameliorate the situation and actually fix our raccoon problem, I'll gladly amend this review. read more

After having an Air Duct cleaning I discovered that critters had torn up the air ducting work in portions of my attic. This was due to Ring Tail Cats having accessed and nested in my attic space. This is very a costly problem and when critters like this get into your attic. THEY WIL DO DAMAGE. Joey from Cen-Tex Wildlife was very prompt in getting out to my home and did a thorough inspection and provided the solution at a fair price. After agreeing to the quote Joey was very prompt in doing the necessary exclusion and quickly followed up with removal and decontamination. Couldn't be happier with the final result. Only when I made a formal complaint on BBB is when I actually heard back from them. I would have understood the heat issue IF I was ever reached out to in the first place, but instead, this company chose to not communicate. Was never notified about them not coming out. Instead my husband stayed home from work to be here for them. This company has zero regard for other people's time. They were thee hours late when we initially scheduled a quote. Should have learned from that experience to stay away. It's also interesting to me that there are several other attic restoration companies that are 100% capable and equipped to complete attic work during the peak summer months. Joey from Cen-Tex was outstanding. We had someone out previously but as soon as they showed up, the critter stopped making any noise. Same thing happened when Joey showed up but he spent a significant amount of time trying to track it down. In the end he found evidence of animals that had entered into our walls. A few days later, he came out, sealed all of the potential entrances and even removed a dead animal he smelled while working on the house. Joey sealed two mushroom vents on roof and actually trapped raccoons in our attic! Left many messages asking how to proceed and never heard back. Complete silence! He never honored the contract! The best part of Christmas is finding the little surprises in the attic. Michael just finished up yesterday, and the process went exactly as described. Service included: Sealing off entry points (current and potential future weak spots) with this concrete-like foam, trapping and removal of any existing varmints, cleanup and disinfectant of feces. The process is composed of 3 visits, and took a bit over a week (as per CDC guidelines). They also removed two large garbage bags of soiled insulation and disinfected the attic with a fogger. This was really a difference maker to us as a little research showed that the cleanup is very important. Warranty is for 3 years. We had used ABC several years ago and didn't pay for the annual renewal. At that time they did not do the disinfecting, maybe they do now. Very satisfied, I would use them again but I'm guessing I won't have too. :-) read more

When they were scheduled to come out for service, I stayed home from work to be there for them. We never got a call, email, or text.
