However, he spent a while on the phone with me on the phone helping diagnose the problem, discussing possible solutions, and offering ways I could solve the problem on my own. He was very knowledgeable on my exact type of house and chimney and let me know what I could safely do on my own and what should be left to a professional. Rio and Leah are the BEST, period. They came same day, immediately removed a dead possum smelling up half the house! I found the price very reasonable. So about a month ago I realized I had something in the attic and I tried everything from setting SEVERAL traps, bait and sticky pads. I even scattered an entire box of mothballs in the attic to try and deter them (NEVER put MOTHBALLS in your attic... worst internet advice I have ever found). So, after an incredible amount of stress and money I called Rio and his wife. They came over the next day and told me it was squirrels, "yearlings" is what he called them and showed me how they were getting in. Rio went up on the roof and showed me each entry point and how he could tell. He then inspected all my vents and pipes throughout the roof and showed me were they were gnawing on my pipe covers. He even cleaned out an old birds nest from under one of my vents and showed me how to better protect them. He then went into the attic and did the same thing. Rio and his wife took the time to go over all my options of how to alleviate the squirrel problem and the best ways to seal off the house and what supplies to use. They also gave me the number of a great repair man that would come over and take care of everything if I did not want to do the work myself. I was so impressed with how friendly and knowledgeable they were and the time they took to look over everything (the entire outside of the houses) and crawl around in my attic, which is a tight fit! They answered all my questions and offered me very helpful advice for future prevention and even said I could call them if I had any more questions before I tried anymore "internet" advice. Rio and Leah helped me out with some raccoon wrangling. I had a mama and four babies in my attic. The mama was resistant to traps. They came out many times to try different things. They were very committed to helping me solve my problem. For as much time as they put in, I felt that they could have charged more. It was quite a bit less than i paid another company last year. That company spent a half hour putting on a one way door and charged me $350. Rio and Leah came over several times since the mama was trap-shy. They got the babies out from a wall in a closet. To update, I just received a very threatening call from Rio about this Yelp review! He immediately began yelling at me, screaming that my review is trying to "ruin" his business. Before I got a chance to answer, he threatened me "If you want to make me out to be a monster, I can show you what a monster is like! You take that Yelp review down in an hour or else!" He then hung up. Nice. I am scared that I let this man in our house and that he knows where we live. I am nervous about our pets now and our children after his threat; and after paying a total of over $1400 to him and his partner (whose work he initially said he 'guarantees'), we still have rodents and he says that we never hired him. What? We have over $1400 in checks to prove otherwise. Unfortunately all we have to show for it is ugly metal flashing bolted to our chimney and garage sides..... and the rodents! I am now learning that the best and most humane way of ridding your house of rodents is to either spray peppermint oil extract or fox urine in your attic, so we oredered both from Amazon and are going to try to do this ourselves. Apparently the peppermint smell confuses their strong sense of smell and can disorient rats so they tend to stay away from that smell, and the fox is a natural predator, so that scares them away as well. We will see if this works. I wish I had discovered this before we paid Rio $1400! read more

Working with Rio was truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Not only was he incredibly generous with his time and expansive knowledge, but he was also just a super cool dude. I have been trying to trap armadillos this month and today, I was surprised to see I had trapped a skunk. I'm smart enough to stay away from a trapped skunk. I called around and spotted Rio's business. He re-arranged his schedule to get out to my house on short order so the trapped skunk wouldn't get too p.o.'d and start squirting everything and stinking up the neighborhood. He transferred the skunk from my cage to his cage and put it in the back of his truck. Tio spent time examining my yard and the armadillo damage and then shared how best to set up a trap to capture armadillos. I really appreciated that he went out of the way to assist me in my own trapping. Rio is a wonderful person to talk to, very personable. He's licensed by the State of Texas and he's a trained zoologist. What more could you ask for! read more

I had the bad fortune in 2014 of winning deer roulette... one chose my backyard to die in. The city would only come remove it if I could get it out to the curb, but lugging a 100+ pound, rotting deer down a rocky hill then up a 50-yard driveway somehow didn't appeal to me. Rio happened to be out of town, but was still able to get an associate out to my house that evening for a speedy removal ... and not just to the curb, but totally gone. OMG, this guy! Rio is amazing. We heard a rat get caught in an attic trap...but it did not die and the noise of it struggling was heart-breaking. Of course this sitch happens during the weekend when our exterminator is closed. We called every company we could find and only Rio came out to put the poor critter out of its misery. Afterward, he said he wanted to provide us with advice - we've been having a rat problem in the attic and our exterminators were not helpful (hence, using traps and the horrible pain we created for this critter). We've asked the exterminator TWICE to do an inspection to determine how they were getting into the attic and he kept saying he had no idea. Rio found the problems immediately and told us how to close access points. He did this for free because he's an amazing human and a humane person who seems to understand and care about animals. Honestly, I don't want to see Rio again because that means more rats in the attic, but I wish I could hire him again or have a beer with him because he is THAT great. read more

I will never use anyone else! I have lived in my 1950's home for over 22 years and have had rodent problems several times. I have used individuals and big companies to iradicate them and seal my house. This time around, for a raccoon and rat problem, I called Rio and Leah. Rio and his wife were fantastic and creative in solving my rat problem. I had been trap-killing rats for months, but they were increasing in number rather than decreasing. Other companies offered to trap them for a huge amount of money, but why pay for something I was already doing? Rio has a three-pronged approach to not only kill the rats, but ensure they leave the home! My rat problem was over in a week. He also took a lot of time to show me how to keep them from returning, never insisting that he be the one to do the work of sealing the house, though he offered because I asked. I hate snakes and was horrified/surprised to find one in my apartment under the couch. Apartment Maintenance removed the snake but I called Rio to check the whole apartment just in case. He was incredibly nice and friendly, searched the place from top to bottom, inside shoes, suitcases, etc. and pointed out things to look for when looking for evidence of all kinds of pests. Wow. Long story short, we had a bad experience, posted a bad review. Rio just called my wife and threatened her! Really?!? Over a review...we had rats for 6 months, got nothing but missed appointments, arrogance, and the accusation that it was all our fault. Our fault?!? We did everything he asked, and he even finally admitted that. Since I had hoped that all the holes were finally sealed up (after 6 months of dealing with this/him) and maybe a rat was just trapped inside, I hoped it would just die. Apparently that's not the problem. Two months later and the rat(s) are still there. Even though I had talked to Rio over the phone and had to deal with his attitude, I thought I'd give him the chance to fix the problem (and I was even polite). He declined. Nice. Now he's threatening my wife?!? We've contacted the police because now we're fearing for our children, pets, and home. We noticed a horrible smell coming from the bathroom wall. Managed to look inside the wall and to my horror there was a dead rat inside on the floor. Tried to remove it myself but couldn't. Rio offered to come and solve my problem, even though 3 other professionals had tried and failed to locate the dead rat hidden somewhere in my wall! He and his wife were professional and worked longer than anyone else, and even though the problem was actually a plumbing issue, meaning the rat was not found in the wall, but in the pipes! I found a large, very thick bodied snake in my driveway today -- about 3 feet long. My neighbor scared it under the brush in front of my house and it coiled up there. I got on every website possible and from the picture I took I knew with was either a water moccasin or a non-venomous water snake but the thick body led me to believe it was the former. I was really scared. I called Rio and fortunately he was about three miles away from my house. He was there is less than ten minutes and within two minutes of arriving he caught the snake. It turns out that it was the non-venomous water snake but, still, calling him out here was worth the money spent if only for the peace of mind factor. He is releasing the snake on his property, which I appreciate....even if it's not venomous I don't particularly want it making its home at our house. Highly recommend Rio and Leah. read more

As I sit here in front of my fireplace with it's roaring fire going, I cannot help but think how grateful I am that I found Rio!! After hearing a critter in my fireplace one Saturday, I called around 5 different businesses only to get either an answering machine or an overpriced fee for coming out just to asses the situation. When I finally spoke with Rio, he took the time to explain to me what the situation probably was, how long it would take and the earliest he could get out to help me. He was knowledgeable on what type of chimney I had and advised not to build a fire in case the critter was one that would combust! After a few days of not hearing any movement, I gave him a call back and he was out there that afternoon to remove the animal for me. Very professional and knowledgeable about his job, I would use him again! (hopefully won't have to, however, as he covered up the hole the critter fell through, only after telling me if I wanted to he would be happy to show me how to do it myself...!).
