Then, when I arrived on time, the doctor was late. Yeah. They had a punctuation problem. Believe or not, the quality of prescription lenses and Ray-Ban frame I bought at Hung Le Eye Center are still functional. The peripheral vision remained at its perfection. After extensive testing by Dr. El-Annan's staff, his evaluation concluded I had (PCO) posterior capsule opacification and l would need laser treatment to correct it. I agreed to the treatment. It took almost no time. After maybe two hours everything was almost normal. By the next day, I was stunned as to how good my vision was. Almost as if nothing was ever wrong! As an added bonus, Dr. Annan was so patient and so informative about every aspect of the 'operation'. He kept asking if I was understanding everything he was telling me. This is a human based business let's not over-schedule to make more money. The doctors are good surgeons, the office staff is hit or miss. They come to the edge of the overcrowded, not enough seats, waiting area and then whisper, may patients are hard of hearing, both patient names (first and last) which I think is a HiPPA violation. After they dilate your eyes they throw you back in the over-lit, overcrowded waiting room. This is not OK.

My experience is the same for most medical specialists I have seen. Specialists are busy and have lots of moving pieces in their practice that are unexpected and cannot be scheduled ahead of time. Specialists perform surgeries and skilled procedures that often are unpredictable. All it takes is one of the pieces to not move as it should and it sets off a chain reaction for all of the others in their day. There are post-surgical and urgent care issues that arise with their patients which have to be worked into an already full appointment schedule of patients. You don't have these kinds of situations as much with a primary care physician, but I sure have with any surgeon I see. Dr. Koop, his front and back staff, as well as, the surgical coordinator is swamped every day with full waiting rooms, emergency phone calls, etc and I think they handle it with grace and a pleasant demeanor. I have always had my questions and concerns addressed to my satisfaction and phone calls have been returned in a timely manner, as well. This is an experienced and well-run eye practice that you can trust to care for your sight.

It took me more than 20 minutes of being on the phone with repeated transfers resulting in hang ups on Berkeley's end to schedule my eye exam.
