Wow I'm impressed, they are a true professional shop with very good mechanics! I came to this shop because a coworker told me they were really good, and I have to say he was correct! They were able to diagnose an issue that my truck had that 2 other shops weren't able to find, and they explained everything clearly and in detail. At first I had my doubts since I had 2 bad experiences at other shops recently, so I didn't want to get too excited too soon until I was sure that this fix was permanent, but now that I have been driving my truck for a whole month after the repairs, I'm sure :D I will definitely come back read more

What a deceitfully horrible experience! I called last week to make an appointment to get a diagnostics for my car. I explained to the gentleman on the phone that I have a code reader at home, so I am not seeking someone who is going to attach a code reader to my car exclusively, but one that would look into what the cause of my problems was. The gentleman on the phone agreed and went into this whole dialogue about why you cannot solely rely on the code reader, etc., etc. After speaking with him, he appeared knowledgeable, I was comfortable, and I made an appointment for today May 19th at 9 am. Here is when things went wrong. I showed up at the shop this morning at 8:30 am to check in for my appointment. The gentleman whose work shirt said Tay, said he could not find an appointment for me in their system. Tay then asks me what the problems were with my car. I explained to him, that after I come to a complete stop and then accelerate it feels like my car hesitates. Tay said, are there any dashboard lights on in your car. I said, no. Tay said well how do you know it is your engine. I said, I never stated that it was my engine. I have no idea what the cause may be. Then Tay says, so what you are saying is when you start your car up, you think the engine shifts more than normal? I said I did not mention that. I never said it occurs when I start my car up; I said when I accelerate it feels like it hesitates after coming to a complete start. I also never said, I thought it was the engine because I do not know. Tay then says well if I put it on the machine and there are no lights on, the machine is going to pass it. I told Tay that I spoke to another gentleman on the phone and he said that a diagnostic included more than a coder reader and that I had a code reader at home. So there is no need to pay someone else for services that I can do myself at home. Tay said, okay and then started clicking someone on his computer. When he was finished, he looked up at me and said well I am not sure. If there are no lights on your dashboard, I do not understand why you would think it was your engine. At that point, Tay and Census could not do anything to service my car. I would not even feel comfortable with them washing and shining its tires. Don't take your car here! Not only is Tay the only personnel there this morning clearly knowledgeable of cars, but more importantly he lacks the basic comprehension skills to engage in simple dialogue. You are taking about the car hesitating after you accelerate and in his mind that translated to the engine shifting after you put the key in the engine. Beware, sub-par shop. I can see how you could go here looking for your tires to be rotated, and then they come back and tell you that your need a head gasket. read more

The worst service ever. My wife took her car in for a radiator leak and the they schedule her for 11:00 am. We brought the car in at 10:30 am. At 2:30 pm we haven't heard from them. My wife called them and they still haven't looked at the car. 30 mins later they called back and told us that before they could do anything, they must do a pressure check which will cost 49.99 plus labor which was 85.00 per hr. Its a leak!!!!!!!! It was still leaking on their parking lot. The only thing they had to do was put the car on a lift, and take a look. As far as I'm concern, they were trying to make extra money. Plus, the person who claimed to be in charged, was very rude and unprofessional. I will not recommend them anyone. My rating is a negative 1000. read more

I needed to schedule a coolant flush after noticing the fluid was a bit gunky. Since I work in Marlboro Heights (but live in VA) I figured it would be best to take care of this at some point in my workday. After looking searching for various businesses in the area that could complete the job Census was the first shop I decided to take my chance on. My experience was great all around. I was given a friendly greeting when I walked through the door and let them know exactly what I was looking for. They took a look at the fluids and confirmed that the best thing to do would be to flush the coolant. After pricing out the service (they had a special promotion of $99 including labor when I was there) they offered to give me a ride to my work! That was unexpected! At the end of my workday I got my car and everything looked great. Overall, no complaints from my experience. They took care of what I needed done and at a fair price. Would recommend. read more

WORST CAR REPAIR EXPERIENCE AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS UNSATISFACTORY!!!!!! The Mechanic workmanship is very poor, their is a lack of experience when repairing minor or major repairs. This is terrible and very costly to the customer. I have spent a lot of money and lost a lot of my time dealing with this company and most importantly I am paying for newly purchased car that has been at Census Auto in Suitland MD for over a total of 7 months. Here's The Story: I purchased a vehicle from an affiliated business named Valentine Auto in District Heights MD back in 2014 September. The vehicle, I bought had some minor mechanical problems that Valentine Auto agreed to take care of - so they sent me to Census Auto in Suitland MD. Since 2014 September Census Auto in Suitland MD has made more than four separate attempts to repair my car. With every attempt Census Auto in Suitland MD has kept my car for 21/2 to 3 months at a time. The latest attempt to repair began in 2015 March. Two months and change later, I received a call in the late evening on 2015 May 20 telling me that my car is finally repaired and ready for pickup. Well ...Its been less than 24 hours later after pickup (2015 May 21) and my car is not drive-able due to their negligence. I spoke with both Robert and Caesar about the problem ...Now I am awaiting their callback at 10:30 AM to see how they want to handle picking up my car and properly fixing/repairing the problem. I am truly dissatisfied and unhappy about my car's current situation... Will keep you posted. read more

so.. i financed a vehicle from a partner dealership (valentine motors) and not even a full 90 days after having the vehicle, the engine went out.. which i couldn't understand because census had apparently checked and repaired the car before i even purchased it. anywho, i was told to contact census, as i had a warranty and that they would replace the engine with no problems. my car was in the shop for almost 2 months and i had to pay $250 out-of-pocket because they claimed that other things (not covered by the warranty) were wrong with the vehicle. here i am 5 months later and my engine is stalling AGAIN! the car recently started smoking terribly.. so much that i have not been able to drive it. thursday morning, i took it in to census and have yet to hear back, other than someone initially telling me that the mechanic wasn't sure what was wrong with it, but it looked like oil might've leaked in the combustion chamber. *scoffs* if you can afford to pay a little more to have your car looked at the right way, then i'd highly recommend doing so. just my 2 cents read more
