I requested a full check out on a 1972 vehicle. The shop charged $160 for this service. I towed the vehicle and there was where it sat for a MONTH with nothing but excuses. Finally they provide a check out sheet and I had the veh towed home to do what I wanted then returning to him or someone else for the remainder. I attempted to remove the wheels to have the tires replaced and discovered they had hammered the lug nuts so tight there was no way to remove them without equipment.. this was soooo unnecessary other than maliciousness! Of course they deny ever removing the wheels.........how do you do a full $160 inspection without even taking off the wheels read more

Welp, first service done on my new Honda Civic and so far so good! I found a reliable mechanic for my Mercedes and I hope this is the new service home for this car. If you're like me (well, you probably are because you're reading this review) you read up on any place you are choosing to give your business. Especially when it involves a lot of money and/or something that's very important to you. All the reviews spoke highly of Auto Tech and the employees. I send an E-mail, via their website, and got a quick response. I was unable to bring my car in on the day I wanted, but was given alternate options in the same week. GREAT! Also, I wanted to wait for my car versus leave it at the shop and was again given an option based on that specific request. CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ITS BEST! So, I dropped my car off and had planned a bike ride during the service. I asked how long it would take so I could plan my bike route. I left my car, took off on my bike, and they called when I was headed back. They kept their word. YES! This is how car service should be versus stressful and costly. When paying I was given advice on when to return, what DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE AT THIS TIME (yeah, read that again; it doesn't happen often), and grabbed a snack on the way out. WINNING!!!! Absolutely horrible experience. Took my car in at the scheduled time, around 9:30 am. Left the car and took Uber home. Took Uber to my second appointment, which I shared with the Auto Tech people that I had a 1 pm appointment and they said my car wouldn't be ready by then. I called around 3:30 pm to check on my car and was told it hadn't been looked at and that they wouldn't be able to get to it until Monday. I said you can't keep my car all weekend! They said I could bring it back. When I got there in the Uber to pick up my car I told them I wouldn't be brining it back, after they had the audacity to ask me if I would be brining it back. They were apologetic but this was a major inconvenience and waste of time. They didn't even give me the courtesy of a call to say my car wouldn't be touched. I could have picked it up earlier. I wasted $47 on Uber and a lot of time. Do not recommend, stay away! read more

I originally went to this shop because it got a lot of good reviews on Angie's List. It has a super nice waiting room but it doesn't matter because they are so backed up there isn't anything they will do that makes it worth your while to wait. I usually have my wife help me drop it off the night before and then pick it up at the end of the next day. They are pricey. No question about it. The first couple of times I went, I really thought they did a fine job. This most recent time, I asked them to do some mileage service and to check a vibration/rumbling when I was idling at a light or stop sign. They couldn't quite figure it out other than to say there might be a loose motor mount but that it wasn't really urgent (translation: they didn't have the part or the time unless I was willing to leave my car for at least another day) A couple of my visits have been highly successful. My A/C wasn't pumping out cold air during the summer and they fixed it right up with a shot of refrigerant. Another time, they fixed my brakes. But, it's not cheap. The staff is super friendly and they are pretty helpful but not being a car person I don't always understand what they do or why. The lack of a fix for the vibration thing has me a bit worried, though, and I might take it somewhere else for a look. read more

This is an updated review down from 5 stars. Brian has been gone a while now. I find the last couple times I've used AutoTech, they over quote me. I got new tires for 1/2 what they quoted me. During the stay at home order my battery completely died to the point of needing towed to the shop. I said to my husband, 'watch them call and say I need an oil change.' They did, and when I declined and said my car indicates when I need an oil change they said the oil was "dark". It was not - I checked it when I got the car back - normal oil color. Also, despite Prince George's county having the highest number of COVID-19 cases, no one was wearing masks, and I commented on it. The person checking me out didn't even acknowledge that I said something. I understand not wearing a mask while working in the shop, but there's no reason the person dealing with customers shouldn't have a mask. It's clear they don't care about their customers like they used to. read more

I went in to get a quote on my car and they priced the damage at $2,000.00 I was shocked with the price so I went to another shop to get a second opinion. I was beside myself when the second mechanic advised that it was a quick and easy fix and charged me just over $100.00 for the part and labor. I will never go to this shop again. I never have a hard time knowing the breakdown of the cost because everyone is willing to take the time to explain to me. The waiting room also has snacks coffee and free Wi-Fi. I have brought mine & my family's vehicles there for years. They recently told me I needed a 6k transmission, after seeking second opinion, I was told I had no transmission fluid, other than that it was fine. They also never alerted me that I need a tune up, after assuring me they had my Lincoln dealer checkups on file & if I brought there every 5k miles all would be addressed. I will never use Autotech again, either they tried to rip me off or their mechanics aren't trained, unacceptable either way. read more

I had my battery totally drained and dead. I had tried jumping it and charging with a portable charger but continued to find it would not hold the charge. (Also I had dropped a wrench in the engine and could not find it.) I called them last Friday morning, and they told me to bring it in. I picked it up at the end of the day, and they confirmed that my battery was still good. They had charged it up and also checked the alternator and starter. The wrench was no where to be found, and they thought it had dropped out on my drive over. The total cost was only $54. To boot, Brian called me on Tuesday to see how my car was doing. The whole Auto Tech team does a professional job. I had rotors put on my Ford F-150 and 14 months later developed a thumping noise in the left front and rubbing in the right front. I took it in and David called me to say the rubbing was from broken front springs (it's a 2004) and the thumping was from bad bearings in the hub. He verified it had been 14 months fr the hubs, but because it should not have gone bad that quickly covered it under warranty, - their standard coverage is for 12 months. Always helpful. read more

I have used this auto repair facility many times and received satisfactory results. However, this time I took my car there to eliminate a noise I heard emanating from the engine compartment. They told me they fixed this problem, after replacing several parts. After I had paid for it, and drove the vehicle home, I noticed they had not eliminated the noise, and in fact, it was louder. The mechanic apologized and agreed to repair it at no charge. When I picked up my car, I was informed I had to pay for the new part. The mechanic said he never agreed to fix it for free. A person waiting in the office overheard our discussion, and began harassing me. I left the office, and came back about five minutes later. In the parking lot, the mechanic suggested we discuss this matter in private, in an alley between the garage and office. I declined. He then said he would not charge for the repair, and gave back the keys. I went inside to collect the receipt, and left. read more
