Update!!! Still love this place! Is weird that I feel like I am just hanging out with friends when I come? Lol like I'm that weird patient that thinks she's family. My newest friends are Heather and Ashley. For anyone that is reading this, they can do a financial consultation for you! Whattttt?!? That's crazy above and beyond right there! Ashley was over here working a jigsaw puzzle to see how the treatments and appointments could align not only what Dr. Mead thought was a priority but what I myself thought was a priority. But also Heather even telling me about all the billing codes and how every company/employer and every insurance plan is very different and so many variations- who knew. I learned so many things in this one little visit. It was like I was back in school and eager to learn! My appointment with Dr. Mead was so funny too. Ok, everyone.. we all need to know about the Dawnson Academy. I now know that any other dentists I had prior to Dr. Mead should all be ashamed. Shake. My. Head. When your insurance bills for a comprehensive review, 99% sure you have not had one. That's crazy work. I've been on this planet for 38 years and I just had my very first comprehensive dental review. Anyways, I have an appointment again tomorrow for a cleaning so I'm sure I'll update more again because I think meeting Dr. Randy Johnson was seriously an icing on the cake today! I am highly recommending this dental office. Dr. Patel and the entire team are absolutely amazing!!! They are kind, caring, courteous and treat every patient so gently with compassion. You almost forget you are at the dentist. They offer you a pillow, blanket and check on their patients throughout the procedure. They even ask if you need to take a break, even if it's a bathroom break, need a bottle of water - it's above and beyond service. This dental office also has the latest and greatest technology. The staff are the absolute best! Courtney is so sweet and really cares about the patient experience. Luz is also so amazing. It's like talking to girlfriends, that care about you and your experience. Heather is so sweet and has an amazing memory. She is so welcoming. Honestly, everyone goes above and beyond - from the front desk receptionist, dental hygienist and dentist - everyone. This will most definitely be my dental office of choice and I will refer everyone to this establishment. They truly make you feel like family. Great dentists and wonderful staff!! Everyone is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Not recommended. Techs are great, but the service/office people will not be transparent about their cost. I took my kids there for a rutinary cleaning and they said it was fully covered, but it was not. They were trying to charge $560 for preventive care. They do not know how to interpret your benefits, or they just want to get all your money. I am not going back, and I do not recommend. Go somewhere else where they are transparent, helpful to plan for your expenses in accordance with your benefits. There are plenty of those, but this is not one of them. read more

I wish there's less than one star to rate this office, if you notice that they listed on their account Experience is 33 years, but doctors they work with you there have no experience, I worked with 2 doctors there, all they care about how to steel your money and insurance company's money, keep guessing, do things that they don't have to do, I ended paying big amounts of money + insurance money for 2 years, lost tooth that has nothing to do with the pain I have, route canals after route canals, now I'm in so much pain and I can't fix the damage they've done in my teeth, my life now extremely bad because of the pain I have to deal with everyday. Don't go to this office, all they care about is get the maximum amount of money, and ask you to sign weavers to protect themselves, if they care and confidant about what they do, they shouldn't do this steps, they're bad bad bad take my word, don't deal with greedy and lies. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Johnson's for about 5 years now. In addition to regular care, I also chose to do Invisalign with this office because I trust them, enjoy them, and believe they have my best interest in mind when performing and recommending work. I love my Invisalign results and the health of my teeth. While I'm not local to the area anymore, I drive from Sacramento to remain at this practice since I like them all so much! (And with Invisalign, that meant coming to the office every 4-6 weeks!) Dr. Johnson has a gentle demeanor and is easy to be around. Ashley and Zoe are the assistants who helped me most often, and they are both so sweet. Tara is usually my hygienist and I love her. She's funny and good to talk to...as much as one can talk while someone is cleaning their teeth anyway! I've also had Rebecca for a cleaning and she too is so nice and sweet. I just started going to Dr. Johnson in March. Last night I broke my front tooth! I called his office at midnight and left a message. I got a call at 730 am from his amazing staff and by noon my front tooth was fixed! The staff here is amazing! Everybody is so friendly. Their modern dentist office is so nice. I have been a patient for around 30 years. This week I had laser fillings on my teeth where the enamel has worn away; this will prevent worse damage in the coming years. Now the tops of my teeth are smooth as glass and I keep running my tongue over them! It is a wonderful procedure and I am always glad that Dr. Johnson stays up with the latest new innovations and techniques. I can't say enough about this dentist office. I moved to Albany, CA 3 years ago and switched dentists. Long story short, I had a procedure done at my new dentist but I had a gut feeling something was wrong. This was especially concerning as I'm going to Europe at the end of the month. I called Dr. Johnson's office on a Friday and left a message asking if I could get his opinion on the procedure I had done and the symptoms I was having. Within 5 minutes (literally), Shawn called me back and Dr. Johnson fit me in that following Monday! I explained to Dr. Johnson my issue and concerns, he immediately made me feel better, examined my tooth and took the time to explain everything in detail. I work in the medical field but dental issues are very confusing for me and quite scary. Everything ended up being OK, but I felt better getting a 2nd opinion and having everything explained to me. I want to leave a review on Dr Randy Johnson. Although I don't see Dr Johnson anymore it is because I live out of state. I picked Dr Johnson because he came into my retail establishment shopping for some items for his new dentist practice. My coworker said she had a fear of dentists but she went to see him and her fear was gone.That may have been 1992. I had Dr Johnson until about 2006. I can't say enough about the great care I received. He is always up to date on the latest technology etc. If I didn't move out of state I would still have him as a dentist. I had to write this review after seeing some negative ones. I've seen many dentists after him and they created a lot of problems that I know I wouldn't have had with Dr Johnson. Thank you read more

Dr Johnson does not care for his patients at all! If your not spending thousands of dollars in his office you are a nobody to him and are useless. He makes you feel bad for not having nice healthy teeth instead of trying to help you out and help you achieve a healthy smile. He often rushes through his procedures and provides below average work. The staff is rude and the front desk doesn't provide anything to you until you have to pay and then expect you to pay a large amount ! I had veneers done by him and they looked awful and he wouldn't fix them unless i paid another fee. A friend of mine had gone there previously for an implant and had such a horrific experience so bad that he himself couldn't finish the work and had to have another doctors replace her implant and finish everything for him because of the mistake he made. I will no longer be recommending this place to anybody nor even my worse enemy. Myself as well as friends who go here will be finding a new, better dentist that can provide for us what we want instead of what he needs ($$). read more

Was jabbed inside the cheek by Dr. Johnson during dental procedure and was bleeding. No, apology or are you okay was asked. He disappeared without saying anything and then another dental employee continued with dental work with no explanation. No patient should be treated this way. read more

This center for Dentistry performed above average cleanings. That is the only positive thing I can say about them. They let me and my wife believe that our insurances were covering these high cost procedures they offer. They showed us numbers and charged us accordingly. After several procedures of average work they then informed us the numbers they provided us were in fact estimates. Which is not what was verbally conveyed to my wife and I at the time of the work itself. In reality our insurances did not recognize this center of dentistry as valid contractors. They held onto this information for a year. The only reason it ever came to light was because we received a bill for over six hundred dollars for amounts that were not covered. read more

Dr Randy Johnson from Contemporary Dentistry is a very knowledgeable, gentle and enjoyable Doctor. The staff is very welcoming and the work gets done well. The only thing is that this office is very, very expensive. Even if they work with most insurance plans, the out of pocket is still a massive amount compared to all dentists around. I guess we can call him a luxurious Dentist but I don't recall having any bad memory in years seeing them. read more

I had a great day at Contemporary Dentistry again today after I had chipped a previous crown on one of my front teeth. I called the office in the morning around 10am and by 3pm that same day I was sitting in the dental chair and Dr. Johnson and Zoe, the dental assistant quickly fixed my tooth. Dr Johnson recommended a plan to prevent future chipping problems and RDA Zoe explained in great detail what would take place. She is a professional in every way. Felt very reassured that Dr. Johnson's plan would be right for my situation. Lastly, I've got to to thank Susan at the front desk. She is always so happy and cheerful and greets me like I was someone special. I always look forward to seeing her and feel fortunate that there are still people like that in MY world! read more

Dr Johnson ans his office personnel are the best! Correcting my smile was something I had secretly wanted to do for years. I had always been self conscious about showing my teeth when I smiled but was a bit afraid of taking the steps to do something about it. I went in to Dr Johnson originally for night teeth guards and was so impressed with him and his staff. I flipped through his book of before and after pictures and was impressed with the high quality work. So I took the plunge and I am so happy I did! I used to come to this office and didn't have a problem until I brought my daughter and they told me she had a real bad cavity that would need a root canal if not fixed. I took her to another dentist and he didn't see any cavity at all. That really bothered me since you expect a dentist to be honest with you. read more

I had an appointment today for a tooth implant. I was extremely nervous about this appointment going in. Dr. Menges, DDS is a skillful surgeon with a great deal of dentistry experience through his former military years and up to now in private practice. I trust his expertise and experience. He was calm, kind and gentle when explaining the procedure as he was performing this very difficult procedure which was complicated because my tooth had rotted over the years. Jocelyn and Vickie were the RDAs who assisted and made sure that I was comfortable throughout the entire process. After two hours I did not have any swelling and they made sure to give me instructions on how to take care of myself until the next appointment. I'm honestly baffled by the negative reviews. Perhaps some office staff have changed since 2013. I have had nothing but excellent service and dental care. The most helpful person is Susan. She is so friendly and really works hard to work with my schedule and get me in immediately when I'm in pain or my temporary crown falls off. I've only seen Dr. Randy Johnson. I can honestly say that at my age of 41, he is the BEST dentist I've ever been to. I've had to have some dental repairs and the staff has told me again and again that they want me to be comfortable. Even when I'm not saying that I'm in pain, they watch my body language and they offer me options to make me more comfortable. I have TMJD and the office schedules me longer appointment times so that I can have breaks and rest my jaw and mouth when I need to. Everyone I've dealt with so far has been nice to me and also professional. I specifically researched and chose Dr. Johnson because he has training in tongue thrust, TMJD, sleep apnea, and also cosmetic dentistry. He's just great and very nice, to boot! Normally when I get some of the oral injections for pain, it stings and I tear up. I complimented Dr. Johnson on his technique because I didn't get tears. read more

Shocked by office attitude. This morning, I broke a small piece off of my front tooth. It is a tooth that should of been crowned long ago, but I have put it off for financial reasons. I called the office to see if they could patch the corner so I could get through this weekend (it's my birthday). I glued the piece back on with superglue, but it could look better. I was shocked when they said NO, they would only do a crown prep, not a repair. I explained the situation, but they claimed a repair would not stick. Well the glue stuck just fine! I think they don't want to do a repair because they are afraid I won't have the crown done. I would like to wait till next month to prepare financially since they want half the day they start, and the rest the day they finish, which is fair. What is not fair is them dictating what work I have done. I decided not to have any further work done by their office since money is more important than their patients. And on my birthday, when people ask about my broken tooth, I will tell the entire story. In fact, on my birthday, it's also a friends party, and I'll bet one of the doctors will be there. This should be interesting! Since I won't be going back there, I am also tired of being billed for additional amounts after I am told I paid in full. Isn't that why what the insurance will pay is verified first? read more

As a child I went to Dr. Johnson, and had "cavities" all the time. At about age 10 my parents dental coverage changed and we were forced to change our dentist. Prior to leaving Johnson he told my parents and I that I had 3 cavities that needed work, after switching dentists no such cavities were found, and I've never had one since. He has done beautiful cosmetic work for me. Other dentists that I come across over the years even compliment the beautiful work that has been done on my teeth. I am very pleased with this office all the way around. Picking a new dentist is hard - then getting a good one is even harder! The ladies in the office are very friendly and happy every time I visit. Its nothing like the stuffy offices I am used to. The assistants work really well with the dentist during my procedures and you can really tell they care about their teams, their office and their patients. I loved the dentist that we saw in this office. I trusted him an he did good work. I wish he worked in a different practice. The front staff was hit or miss. Sometimes they were nice and other times very unprofessional. The person that takes care of the billing was awful and the reason we left this practice. They were dishonest and would get offended if you had a question about billing. They had horrible communication and were very rude, difficult to deal with. I know multiple people who left this practice for the same reason. read more
