They are so deserved…read more This year, as I enter my 70's, I had to have a few procedures done, one of which was deep cleaning before shoulder surgery in a few months. This review I thought I'd focus on Dr Bosler's hygienist, Molly. Molly is extremely knowledgeable. I'm a nurse myself and am so impressed with her care of the whole person. She is so thorough she has been able to assess a few dental problems and address them early saving me from a much worse problem and expense down the line. A few years ago Molly noticed a "shadow" on my inner cheek that warranted a visit to my primary care doc. As it turned out there was no cancer and I did not require further work up. I've been blessed to be able afford dental checkups my entire life. However, having a team of professionals who have helped me avoid serious dental issues and expenses really has helped! Molly, if you read this, I hope you to know you're the best of the best. You look at the whole patient, their lifestyle and needs. It's that "extra" genuine personal interest, intelligence and gentleness you provide that makes you the exceptional medical professional you are. Military community please read this if you have United Concordia for insurance!!!!…read more I went in about a year ago for a simple checkup and to discuss a broken tooth. During the appointment, I specifically explained that my insurance would likely deny X-rays because I had already had them done less than a year earlier. They told me they would still run everything through insurance and, if it wasn't covered, they would honor a new patient special rate. At no point were X-ray costs discussed. When I checked out, I paid around $1,000 for the crown and buildup. No one mentioned owing anything additional for X-rays. They also recommended a deep cleaning that would cost about $800 for the first round. When I later asked if we could remove services insurance wouldn't cover, I was told no because it was part of their "standard of care." I couldn't afford the extra treatment, so I didn't return. About a year later, the crown started irritating my gums and the tooth began throbbing. When I went back, I was told I needed a root canal and that I should have done the deep cleaning. I requested a predetermination, left, and switched dentists. A few months later, my insurance reviewed the claims and determined I had been overcharged based on the crown codes used. They issued a refund, and I thought the situation was resolved. Then I received a letter stating I owed $260 on the same account, marked over 90 days past due and sent to internal collections. After my husband spent time sorting things out with insurance, the office manager of Nut Tree told me that I had never paid for my X-rays and that, because of that, she technically should not have issued the refund I received. She said I could keep the refund, but the $260 balance would still stand. The voicemail only added to the confusion because the X-rays were never presented as an outstanding balance when I paid for treatment. As far as I knew, my account had been settled based on the amount I was charged at checkout. It wasn't until the insurance issues were being reviewed later that the unpaid X-rays were even brought up. What makes this even more frustrating is that I specifically raised concerns about insurance coverage before the X-rays were taken. Looking back, I later discovered that financial responsibility language was included within the exam consent paperwork, but there was never a clear discussion that I could end up personally responsible for hundreds of dollars if those X-rays were denied. I tried calling multiple times and never got a response. The moment I put everything in writing via email, I got a quick reply and a much friendlier tone. At that point, I agreed to pay because I was exhausted by the stress. I'm pregnant, and I did not have the emotional fight to keep going over something that never should have escalated like this. Furthermore, this company wants feedback to be better per responses to reviews but I can't even get the office manager on the phone to talk about my experience. My advice: get EVERYTHING in writing. Read everything. Get everything; pricing/payments/insurance coverage amounts on every service before doing the service. Do not sign anything you don't fully understand, Don't trust their word because they won't honor it unless on paper. And if they are pushing services that don't feel right or don't fit your situation, walk out. (I wish I would've). Because at the end of the day, it really felt like it was never about you or your care. This company is all about money.

I very much prefer a dental hygienist to clean my teeth as they are able to really diminish the stains. It has been a couple of weeks now and I have spots on a few of my teeth by the gumlines that look like my teeth are dying. I will ask again if they offer a hygienist for instrument cleaning. We plan on following through with the treatment recommended and are hoping for a good outcome.

This review for Dr. Sukhdeep Sandhu and his office staff has been long overdue…read more   We used to go to a different dentist in Solano County, and our dental insurance is Delta Dental PPO.  Dealing with this other office was a bit of a nightmare as they seemed to cater their medical treatment around what they believed my insurance would cover.  Due to my own neglect, I required a deep cleaning, but instead they wanted to do an "extended basic cleaning."  Also, despite informing me Preventative Services were 100% covered, this other dentist charged us out of pocket for basic preventative services on TOP of the amount insurance paid.    Needless to say, we were driven to seek out a new dentist for our family.  In my first consultation with Dr. Sandhu, he explained quite thoroughly why I needed to undergo a deep cleaning, to stop a host of problems like bleeding, bad breath, and to prevent further damage.  I really appreciated that he seemed to actually care for my dental health as a medical provider.  Although the services were not fully covered by my dental plan, I at least had peace of mind that I was on the right path to solving my dental issues.  With Dr. Sandhu's advice, I also bought a huge pack of floss pics because I never want to undergo a deep cleaning again lol...the other "Delta Dental Premier" dentist told me to just use a Water Pik instead of flossing which I felt was bad advice.   On the medical billing side, I can understand that dental insurance and all the various plans can be convoluted, but Jasmine, the office manager who is kind and hard-working, has always been transparent and with no hidden out of pocket costs afterwards.  Aside from being a complete professional that has earned my trust, Dr. Sandhu is just a really upbeat, personable, and genuine guy! Obviously, no one likes going to the dentist lol...but having a provider that cares for you, educates you, and is honest, makes the experience a whole lot easier. Multiple text reminders for appointments. They book your next visit at the end of each appointment. So they make it easy for you to stay on top of your visits. The hygienist appointments book out pretty far. I learned so much from them about oral hygiene! I never knew there was a prescription extra fluoride toothpaste available. Or the proper technique for cleaning. Or that carbonated beverages are acidic and cause tooth decay and more cavities. The experience is actually very comfortable for a dentist office! They offer sunglasses so you're blinded by the bright lights. They also offer blankets if you're feeling cold. They have screens playing YouTube videos of relaxing scenes like beaches.

The biggest issue is appointment scheduling and wait times. For decades, I rarely waited more than a few minutes for an appointment. Now, it seems routine to wait 30 minutes, typically longer. Today was the final straw. My 6 year old daughter had a cleaning scheduled for 9:30 AM, and I had a cleaning scheduled for 10:00 AM. After waiting about 10 minutes, I let Mia know that I had an 11:30 meeting and needed to stay on schedule. She assured me we would be out on time. By 9:55 AM, neither my daughter nor I had been called back. While sitting in the waiting room, I received a text notification stating that my daughter's appointment had been moved to 10:30 AM. At that point, we had already been waiting for over 30 minutes. When I questioned the delay, the new front office manager argued with me and insisted my daughter's appointment had always been scheduled for 10:00 AM, not 9:30 AM. I had text message confirmation showing the original 9:30 appointment time. Rather than acknowledging the scheduling change, she dismissed my concerns and made it seem as though I was mistaken. The interaction felt dishonest, unprofessional, and incredibly frustrating. After 27 years as patients, my husband, my children, my mother, and I have decided to take our business elsewhere. It's disappointing because most of the clinical staff remains excellent, but poor management and a lack of accountability have completely changed the experience. I thought the receptionist spoke people's business for everybody to hear in the waiting room, and while they would both be on the phones, I couldn't even see how they could keep track of who they were talking to because they both had no privacy. For a "deep cleaning" they spent a minute tops on just one side (they planned on doing the other side another day), a full mouth deep cleaning was still needed, and this caused me to not be able to get the requested service done elsewhere. What's worse, they claim a tooth needed a filling which my trusted dentist (no longer accepting DeltaDental Ins.) spent a good time with me to explain and show me on Xrays that filling was not needed, and Alamo Smiles also missed a tooth that did need a filling (which my trusted dentist caught, explained well and showed me on the xray, and I paid out of pocket for). For two months I asked Alamo Smiles to correct this issue; they never did. It's now 8 months later. Due to the difficulties to speak to someone at DeltaDental nowadays and me having a busy life, I finally was able to let my insurance know what happened. My insurance confirmed, Alamo Smiles never corrected the insurance claim with them. AS NICE AS THESE PEOPLE APPEAR, YOU SHOULD GET A SECOND OPINION OR AVOID ALAMO DENTAL COMPLETELY, IF YOU WANT GOOD WORK DONE.
