We had a very troubling experience with this Goddard School…read more We disclosed our son's ADHD prior to enrollment and explained that his medication was actively being adjusted. Despite this, he was given only a few days to acclimate before being sent home, briefly allowed back after a meeting, and then dismissed entirely -- without a reasonable adjustment period or meaningful accommodations. His twin sibling was allowed to remain enrolled. During one meeting, the owner, Melvise Powell, yelled at my husband and me and abruptly told us to leave her office. We also became aware that another individual appeared to be listening in via the office phone without our knowledge, which raised serious concerns under Maryland's two-party consent law. When this was pointed out, the meeting was immediately ended and we were ordered out. Additionally, our daughter later reported that an employee would pinch her when she did not nap, which we found extremely alarming and concerning. ADHD is a recognized disability under the ADA, and excluding a child without attempting reasonable accommodations -- combined with unprofessional conduct and concerning reports about staff behavior -- raises serious concerns. Based on our experience, the owner was extremely rude and unprofessional, and families should steer clear of this school!!

Unlike my oldest (who's now 12), my littles is one that is always up to something and getting into something, so it was important to find a place that would really have that extra special watchful eye. We saw signs for one opening soon and we met with Kelly and loved what we heard, so we signed up. We started here when they opened in late October,2022. From the start, my daughter absolutely loved it despite drop-off at the beginning not being so smooth with her. Her first teachers Colleen and Riley really helped her with becoming acclimated and comfortable with being there. This entire staff is amazing and it truly feels like they genuinely care for my child. We get daily updates on what's happening during her day and even pictures. She's learning so much and they have so much patience with her, she's quite the overactive child. She loves coming as she learns so much, always something going on. Honestly, we could not have chosen a better place... it doesn't feel like a daycare but like family is taking care of my kid. We are unfortunately leaving at the end of next month due to job relocation, and I really worry I won't find a place just as wonderful and caring as Celebree Elkridge. I don't know if I'll find the same care and attention, most important the tranquility I have knowing THEY are the ones caring for my baby, when we move and seek a new daycare school. The fact that I am even writing a review should tell you lots because I'm not one to, but with this place I truly feel they deserve it!

Horrible experience - find another daycare!…read moreAggressive/violent behavior by other children in my child's class was dismissed as the child being bored. Forced to select a full-time schedule when my part-time schedule was already established. Several times, my child came home sick; disease outbreaks in the classroom. Watched on the camera and during pick-ups/drop-offs never saw any cleaning happening. No smell of bleach or cleaning products. They herd all of the kids into the bathroom together (boys and girls), kids sitting there staring at other naked children. A very lax and uncaring attitude towards children's wellbeing and parent's concerns. The only thing that seems to matter is the money - these aren't products being built, they are CHILDREN that parents are entrusting to these people.

When we first met with the owner and director of this daycare, we felt that they were friendly and…read moreeasy to communicate with. But overtime we realized that they were very focused on increasing their business without caring much about providing adequate customer service to their existing clients. We had raised several concerns to both of them especially regarding the lack of attentiveness from the teachers in my child's class (e.g., forgetting to provide milk several days at a time, my child coming home with a horrible diaper rash multiple times due to not changing BM diaper in a timely manner, children in the class shown Cocomelon on the iPad, teachers on their phone in the class outside of nap time) as well as aggressive behavior we noticed from one particular teacher in my child's class (e.g. throwing items across the room, kicking chairs and tables back to where it belongs, and lack of gentleness when handling children). When we brought up these concerns to the director's and owner's attention, they didn't appear to take any serious action (mostly because they did not want any teachers to leave as it would affect their business). In many case the owner would get defensive with us and attempt to offer baseless assurance without having a proper discussion with teachers or checking the cameras in the class. The tipping point for us was when our child came home with discoloration on the back of his clothing (see attached picture). Upon smelling his shirt, we noticed that it was bleach. A concentrated version of bleach which was apparently diluted with water was used to spray on the diaper changing tables and remained on the table to air dry. We assume that the teacher did not properly check the table before placing our child on it to change the diaper hence got on the back of his shirt. Our child had been experiencing unexplained skin irritation on the back of his thigh area for months which we realized that it was also likely due to bleach exposure (this itchy rash went away soon after we had a discussion with the director to remove all toxic solutions from the class). It appears that they might have switched over to some multi-surface liquid disinfectant after this incident but there was a lack of any empathetic response or concern for my child from the management. The fact that this is a client facing business but the owner does not even know how to provide basic customer service when problems arise. It was not at all easy watching our child cry because of burning pain from diaper rash or come home extremely thirsty because he was neglected of water or milk all day at times (all of this was brought to management's attention several times). We like to mention that not all teachers were this careless. There were few teachers who assisted in my child's class on several occasions did a fantastic job engaging with the children and being attentive during snack/meal time as well as play time. Overall, we were very disappointed and discouraged from our experience with the management. As first time parents, it is unfortunate that we will have to remember this difficult experience and feel guilty for putting our child through all the unnecessary tears. We genuinely hope that no parent has to go through what we did at Young Horizons.

Suzanne, the director is a warm and caring leader and these characteristics are passed down to the staff. My son has always felt at home at this center. When we moved and he started Kindergarten, instead of attending summer camp at his new school and closer to our new home, he asked to go back to Kindercare in Hanover for summer camp. The summer program was filled with activities and numerous field trips to keep the children engaged and ensure a fun filled summer! Although the center did experience a period of staff transition, the director worked diligently to ensure minimal impact to the children. This was not something the staff/director could control so it would be unfair to hold them responsible. The leadership at the center will listen to any concerns shared, and will get to know your child and ensure their needs are met. They supported us in throwing two amazing birthday parties for our son at the center. Years later he still speaks fondly about these great experiences. He was also able to make great friends while he attended Kindercare in Hanover. Due to a military move, we had to leave the center, but were very sad to leave. This is a great family environment and my family and I wholeheartedly recommend Kindercare in Hanover. Thanks to you all for providing a caring environment where children can learn and grow.

Come to find out, The Young School keeps your info on file indefinitely even if you never tour or enroll your child. I inquired years ago when my middle child who is now 9 was one. They had no openings then. This means that they have had my info lying dormant for 8 years which I signed nothing agreeing to. I've gotten married, changed my name and had another baby since. None of this would have been an issue if the rep didn't respond in a suspicious tone when I provided my name. Instead of saying, "hey, I see you may have inquired about our center in the past, have you had a name change or gotten married?' It was more of a tone that conveyed suspicion. Just a weird interaction altogether. When I brought it to the attention of the rep she began to raise her voice and ask for even MORE personally identifying information. Lady I just want to know if you have any openings to start! May be a nice center maybe not, I would never know thanks to this initial interaction.

They canceled a virtual tour of their facility twice. Also, Jessica Trail - the head of the school - takes too long to respond to emails. I figure they're not going to miss our business since they seem to have a long waitlist (this is just conjecture since I can't really get any solid information). Be that as it may, I still think it's reasonable as a prospective patron to expect follow-through and timely responsiveness (meaning no more than two business days). In the interest of fairness, I must add that Jamie Sultz (admissions?) has been quite lovely to speak with.

From the start, it has been clear that this is a special place where children are nurtured, supported, and encouraged to thrive. This center is non-profit (the only non-profit early childcare center in the county), so you know that they are not just after your money, they really care about your children and their education. Tuition increases, when they happen have been extremely low. I was on the waitlist for almost 2 years (due to extremely low family turnover) for one of my children which speaks to the fact that they are offering a unique, well sought after program. One of my favorite things about CCC is the delicious and nutritious meals that are served every day and included in the price of tuition. And the best part is that its FARM to Table. No other preschool is offering that in the area. My kids are extremely picky eaters, but they eat all of the food served and this has helped me expand their palette and incorporate more nutritious meals at home. As a busy mom, having these meals takes one more thing off my plate for the week. The staff at Cradlerock is great and the center has really low turnover. There are teachers that have been there over 10+ years. My children have loved their teachers, and the staff consistency has made a huge difference in their comfort and development. The teachers are warm, welcoming, and really care about each child's growth academically, socially and emotionally. Ms. Amanda, the center's director does a fantastic job of balancing cost and budget but making sure there is delivery on effective high value programming and events. The admin and staff do a great job with communicating with brightwheel messages and newsletters to keep parents informed. She has also been leading the expansion efforts of Cradlerock Children's center's move to a new building which will happen in Summer of 2026 and CCC will be able to spread their goodness to even more families as they will be able to accommodate more families in a larger facility! The emphasis on social-emotional learning is one of the things I appreciate most. My kids learned how to manage emotions, interact kindly with peers, and problem-solve in real situations. Because of this thoughtful approach, both of my boys have made great friends and looked forward to school every single day. Another huge advantage for working parents is that Cradlerock is open on most calendar days, unlike many other schools that follow school system calendars, or have an insane amount of days off, the calendar at CCC is really great for working parents that need to go into the office everyday. Most importantly, the tuition cost is lower than many comparable programs, yet the quality of care, education, and overall experience is outstanding. We've always felt like we're getting great value for a top-tier early childhood program. I can't recommend Cradlerock Children's Center enough. If you are thinking of coming here, do it! It will be the best decision you've ever made!
